Day Sixteen - Thunderstorm

Word Count: 452

Warnings: VERY SOFT Dave - that's the only warning?! 👀

Notes: Originally I thought of Jack Daniels getting caught out in a thunderstorm on a mission, but he'd have gear for that. I think... I wanted to do something else for Dave. Our former government employee (I'm not silly enough to say what the man does, I like living thanks,) has even more of a tender side than we thought. 🥰

The forecast for this week didn’t mention rain at all this week. Today’s picnic with the girls went fine too, not a cloud in the sky. Dave was looking forward to catching up on organizing some files while you were sleeping in the king size bed across from him. He liked to watch you sleep after tucking the girls in and keeping an eye on them as they settled in, Alice always snuggled the white teddy bear she’d gotten two years ago on the girls first outing with you to the mall. Simple, he wasn’t sure how they’d react to their father being with someone other than their mother, his ex-wife. They took to you like white on rice and always asked about you, when they could see you again and what they were up to. It made the decision to marry you that much simpler.

The first crack of thunder made Dave flinch, a rare feat. He peered over to you, still, your chest rising and falling as you lay comfortably on your side. You’d curled slightly as you’d been talking to him prior to drifting off. It was known to few that Dave… was not fond of thunderstorms. He didn’t like the sudden booming sounds or flashes of lighting. He didn’t see one outside of the window, only the drops of rain hitting the glass. The rain would lull him to sleep and the thunder would wake him, frustrated at the cycle until he slept out of exhaustion or the storm had passed.

Another rumble with a burst of lightning following it closely told Dave that the storm had grown even closer. His papers soundly hit the night table as he stood and crossed the room to the bed. He removed his t-shirt and sweatpants, leaving them on the floor for now. He’d get to them in the morning. Peeling the covers back, he slipped into the bed beside you, his chest pressed against your back with a soft kiss placed to your neck.

A clap of thunder had Dave’s arms curl around your torso, pulling your closer to him, his chin was tucked itself over your shoulder, the night would be extended for York but he may still find sleep yet. His palm rose to your chest as he felt it rise and fall, counting your breaths until he reached the fifties and everything was lost to darkness save for your warmth. His safe harbor in any storm, Dave could stay asleep like this until the morning, maybe even late if time allowed. A partner as a source of serenity had eluded him until he met you and he would never let go as long as he had you.

The fact that Joel doesn't even think twice about charging Seth for Ellie is the best thing about the winter dance scene (well, except for the kiss, of course and how would Dina wrap Ellie's arms around her own waist).

But... can we still talk about how precious Joel was as a human being? He gets into a confrontation with another man at a family event because he calls Dina a dyke. Not Ellie, but Dina?! He still gets mad and pushes Seth off, even when he didn't insult Ellie personally. 

Not only did Seth insult a woman, which is clearly a line you cannot ever cross in Joel's book, but he also insulted someone Ellie deeply cared about, and that was just unacceptable. That's the kind of man Joel was. All ready to piss everyone off (including Ellie) just to stand up for a girl who has to face one of the ignorant assholes he knows need to be put in their place.

Frankie comes home with his hair buzzed once while he was still active duty and you have to remind yourself that it's just hair and that it will grow back, but you find yourself in mourning bc it's just so,,,, short (he apologizes by letting you tug at it from between your legs)

He does not wash that hat yall. That hat is probably so musty and you're worried it contains a brand new ecosystem, but he refuses to wash it and just buys a replacement when it gets too bad

Despite what a lot of people think, it is a firm belief in my mind that he's a good cook. I think he spent a lot of time in the kitchen with his mom growing up and so after he enlisted and was eating whatever they gave him he made sure to perfect his skills and recipes so he wasn't surviving on takeout unlike someone else *cough cough santiago cough cough*

He's not an ass or tits guy. That man loves Tummy. He LOVESS kissing all over your stomach and makes sure he's holding you so that he can feel how soft you are when you're laying in bed together.

And do NOTTT get him started on if you're wearing something a little more form fitting and he can see every curve and dip and roll of your body?? He'll stare for as long as he can and he feels like he's died and gone to heaven

Even when he isn't working out super regularly, he's always. doing. squats. He doesn't necessarily care about staying as fit as he did when he was still in the army, but his ass is important to him. It's the one thing he never skips

yes I am well aware this is a photo of javier, HOWEVER his ass looks really good and it is kinda giving frankie so just imagine okay. They have the same face its not that hard

He's an insomniac and also an early riser, but I think he isn't caffeine dependent. He likes coffee 100% but he doesn't need it, even if he got like 3 hours of sleep the night before

He's a crier. Oh my god he's such a crier. You put Pride and Prejudice on one night, not really expecting him to enjoy it all that much, only to look over at him and he's sniffling with tears in his eyes (it isn't even a sad movie??) He never lives that one down.

100% gets turned on by watching you do mundane tasks that require some strength. He's getting hard watching you carry all the grocery bags up to your apartment so you don't make two trips or if he sees you really going at whisking some cake batter. The idea of you just having and using muscle has him weak in the knees

ANYWAY

they're kicking me off the stage so this is all yall get from me about him........
