Hail to you,
Oh,gracious lady
You who make anyone adore you.
You beautiful lady,
Mother of desire,
The one who made me fall for both boys and girls,
I praise you!
You lovely lady!
A lil poem for mama Aphrodite. It's not perfect, but I hope it's good enough for her.
Thank you Lady Aphrodite for being with me every day.

Prayer to Demeter for Winter, from someone in the deep south
Demeter, lady of the harvest and mother of all,
I move to join you in mourning as Persephone begins her descent to the Underworld.
I thank you for the food you've provided for the year and the pantry you've kept full.
I would also like to express gratitude for relief from the persistent heat.
The cold that comes with your retreat is welcome and needed.
Thank you for all your blessings and favors.
Thank you for listening to this prayer.

Versions of the color reconstruction of Apollo Belvedere done by Stephen Chappell, an American digital artist. These pieces were done for the exhibition Qui es-tu, Apollon? (Who are you, Apollo?) that is currently held by the Juliobona museum, Lillebonne, France.
This is my personal favorite part of the artist's explanation as to why he chose specific colors for this statue (beyond those derived through polychrome research):
As for the chlamys (cloak), I felt the color red was appropriate for this moment where Apollo is a death bringer, a warrior. This isn’t Apollo the kitharist, the musician; this isn’t Apollo the lover. This is the sun god with his corona of golden hair, loosing a golden arrow to kill the monstrous python. His cloak had to be red.
The exhibition will be open until November 30, 2023.
More on the process behind it and the exhibition: 🏺

A P O L L O : OFFERINGS
You’re warm and light-filled much akin to life itself, and I celebrate your honey-scented presence throughout the year regardless of the cold; with you, warmth and sunshine follow next.
With you, life is preserved in summer-birthed wildflowers, citrus-fused drinks, sun-capturing stones and all things lovingly heated in your gentle hands.
This is a devotional post. Don’t tag as id/kin/me, don’t use as an offering.

Seeing people defend LO with takes like, "Well who cares if it disrespects an entire culture's religion, religion is the root of all evil and it's stupid oppressive make belief bullshit" makes my skin crawl and it's exactly why we need to be allowed to criticize works like LO for appropriating and erasing the cultural significance and spiritual beliefs behind the stories they're attempting to replace.

You know what I hate? When people who have knowledge of Greek Mythology due to only reading Rick Riordan base everything in the mythology on Riordan's universe.
Like, I saw this meme of how people think Hades is the most evil and frightening god, when in actuality he is the most calm and remained loyal to Persephone (depending on which myth you follow), and many Percy Jackson fans go, "How about Nico and Bianca?" How about I smack your head with a volume of basic Greek Mythology?
Or about how Athena didn't find any interest in having romantic relationships/ children? "Then who's Annabeth?" Annabeth is her fictional daughter made up by Riordan, you half-brained cyclops.
Perhaps the fight between Dionysus and Zeus which resulted in Dionysus being sent to Earth never really happened because Zeus was ready to protect the Wine God no matter what? "But Camp Half-Blood --" Shut up already. If Athena hears this, she's going to get you involved in another Trojan War. The reason for the fight was just so there would be some plot.
I'm not even criticising Riordan's universe because I absolutely love it myself. I have never ever disliked something he wrote even if it slightly deviated from Greek Mythology because there was a plot to it. I just hate how some of his fans think Percy Jackson is canon to the entirety of Greek Mythology, when it isn't.
