I think my ideal Gizmoduck/Darkwing dynamic would be Drake LOATHING Gizmoduck but ADORES Fenton (because NO ONE can TRULY hate Fenton) and is like one of the few people who doesn’t connect the dots. Fenton, on the other hand, is quick to pick up on Drake being Darkwing and does his best to get Drake/DW to like Gizmoduck. And then Launchpad is in the middle doing his BEST not to spill either of their secret identities.

you know what i don’t see enough of? circus kid dick grayson critiquing the joker because he’s a bad clown. not like, bad, and also a clown. but bad at being a clown. i want to see dick grayson taking the existence of this horrible clown very personally as a matter of professional pride. he has known clowns, and you, sir, are no clown. the joker is an insult to the legacy of emmett kelly and this shall not stand.

From what I’m seeing in fanfics and fan ideas so far, Launchpad gets increasing angst over Della replacing him as the main pilot, and how he fears Scrooge will have to fire him from his job.

But consider this: Scrooge appoints Launchpad as his new role of Hero Liaison, becoming the point of contact for Gizmoduck and Darkwing Duck since he already knows Fenton and whoever DW is. Scrooge even gives Launchpad hazard pay for being Darkwing’s partner, especially if he’s putting his tailfeathers on the line for Duckburg.

This usually results in Launchpad paying for the snacks when he, Drake and Fenton meet for their weekly tabletop RPG sessions. The three dorks insist that they’re not just playing around, these are super serious strategy simulations to prepare for fighting crime, thank you very much.
