Though I’m someone who only watches the anime, I also do want to note that if the artstyle of the first few parts of JoJo is offputting, it gradually gets smoother, and by Diamond is Unbreakable, character designs are much softer and smoother as a whole. (Though I believe it’s a more gradual change in the manga of Part 4, while the anime makes it smooth from the start).

Part 4 onwards is also somewhat less-connected to the first three parts. Not that it’s not important to watch those first three, it’s just that those have a very connected arc between them, while each part onward has slight connections to past parts, but are otherwise mostly separate, meaning that it’s less confusing to jump into Part 4 or Part 6 than it would be to jump into Part 3... but I’d still watch/read from the very beginning onward.

Also, Part 2 is indeed best part, but Part 1 has my boy Jonathan, and like, who’d want to ever skip the part of a gentleman like him?--

I've been getting into Manga lately. Finished Dragon Ball (and Z) and am about halfway done with Ranma ½. My question to you is... Is collecting JoJo affordable at this point? I haven't looked at the prices myself yet. Wanna know your reaction as a fan first.

I have a hardcover copy of a portion of Part 3, it’s a bit on the pricey side but nothing too bad? They usually go for about 6 to 15 dollars on Amazon, a bit more if you find them at Barnes & Noble. If that sounds like too much, read the manga online and watch the anime (the dub for this is actually good), see if you like it, then decide from there if you want to put some money down for manga collecting.

Also, even though it’s the most popular part, don’t just immediately skip the first two in favor of Part 3 AKA Stardust Crusaders. Phantom Blood is really good even though it starts off a bit slow (it’s also short), and Battle Tendency is actually my favorite thus far.

OKAY, BUT YOU’RE RIGHT, AND YOU SHOULD SAY IT!

I hate regional variants as a concept, because it makes getting the original versions a pain in the ass, especially if it’s an evolution from an original form. Plus, I felt like it was a very lazy way to “technically” have more Pokemon to fill up the absolute lacking amounts of new Pokemon added.

But Galarian forms are the epitome of bad, considering that they not only are just more of what Alolan forms were, but now get exclusive evolutions that the original forms don’t get? Hell, with this in mind, it’s even possible that original forms of these Pokemon might not make it into the game, leaving you with JUST the regional variant. I don’t know for sure how it’s going to be, but I have this horrible feeling about it.

“We can’t bring back all the original Pokemon, but we can sure toss in Shmigzagoon, the totally original form of Zigzagoon guys!”

So Linoone of all Pokémon gets a new evolution with a terrible typing that’s fragile to Fighting, but not Dunsparce, Qwilfish, or Pokémon in desperate need of buffs for years.

Arle: -complains about bumping into walls- Also Arle in battle: 

If you listen closely, you can probably hear the sounds of Arle repeatedly bashing herself into various walls at various moments. It’s not exactly consistent, but it keeps going, sometimes multiple times in a row because the person trying to guide her keeps forgetting how to turn her around properly. 

It sounds very distinctly like “*THUD* Ow!”

Sooo I was watching a video of a Pokemon Challenge thing, and the guy mentions that in Victory Road, none of Silver’s pokemon besides his starter are fully evolved. I already knew Golbat doesn’t evolve until post-game, signifying Silver’s full change in ideals, but then I noticed that Silver had a Kadabra, and went “waaaaaaaaaaaait a minute…”

And I checked and

lOOK AT THIS FRIKKING DORK

Typholsion evolves through level up, Golbat evolves through Friendship, and LITERALLY EVERY OTHER POKEMON cannot be evolved without Silver actually making a friend/being social. (And, in GSC, Sneasel and Magneton can’t evolve at all, because…Gen 2, but it’s just extra amusing how perfectly they wound up fitting into place.)

Kadabra and Haunter are trade evos, there’s NO way to get a Razor Claw for Sneasel in HGSS unless you get a lot of BP from the Battle Frontier…and, honestly, I personally don’t think Silver could have ever done that before Victory Road, and he might match me in lack of patience with that system post-game– AND cherry on top of this numpty’s poor decision making There is NO place in Johto where you can evolve Magneton. Back in Gen 4, the only way to do so would have been to trade to Sinnoh, level it up at Mt Coronet, and then trade it back. (Or, in-universe, walk all the way there, but he doesn’t seem interested in Sinnoh.)

It’s like he saw the final evos for each pokemon, went “that looks really strong!” and filled his team without actually looking further into it.

Of course, after he begins coming to his senses, his next battle features Alakazam and Gengar, and every match after that shows his Golbat finally evolved into Crobat.

But Sneasel and Magneton still never evolve.

Realistically speaking, it’s probably just because they never did in the original games either…but it’s gonna be my personal headcanon that he has NO idea how to evolve them, like. At all.

Time for a fun Obscure Pokemon Fact! Shiny Togepi’s back sprite in Diamond and Pearl is incorrectly coloured, according to most sources (bulbapedia, sprite databases, emulators). This occurs in no other versions of the game.

Where the outer triangles are meant to be recoloured blue, they remain red like the non-shiny, only with a few pixels coloured the correct blue. Additionally, the bottom triangle is coloured an incorrect, paler red, where it should be the same colour as the non-shiny’s dark red, as can be proven when comparing the colours of the markings on both front sprites.

Really random, but I kinda like how, even though it was later retconned, that Hyrule followed Christianity in Zelda 1 and 2, and it makes total sense in the timeline they take place in. With the world gone to shit thanks to Ganon, and the supposed goddesses not doing anything to help, the people gave up on them, and switched to a different religion, which happened to be, essentially, Christianity. It works well from a narrative standpoint, imo.
