this is so real bc one of the first bits of characterisation we ever got for gorgug was him being a teen dealing with his rage and inherent anger as a half orc while his gnome parents (to the best of their ability) tried to help him deal with it in ways that were unfortunately not wholly effective e.g. getting him to sing his anger away, like im p sure early on digby and wilma say theyll never be able to fully understand his anger in the way he does no matter how hard they try (and they obv try super hard and are amazingly supportive of their son)? im glad brennan and zac engaged with porter and gorgugs rage in a way that didnt fully discredit either, like establishing rage as having great potential for protection but also that anger doesnt always need enough excuses to feel (which will probably be a huge thematic overtone with the rage related deity of the campaign). anyway its nice to see that bit of characterisation rly surface in this season

Just hit me how very black coded of Gorgug admitting that he's always felt like he had to justify his anger and thus his rage.

Like, to me it didn't seem like Gorgug never matched Porter’s energy out of principle like I've seen some people say. But having Zac use the word 'justify' made it click how, yeah, he's a Half-Orc raised by gnomes. He probably grew up subconsciously knowing that he couldn't get mad like other people could without "scaring" other people and being labeled as a problem.

i love the vision everyone has of gorgug not having mindlessly destructive rages and instead using his rages to protect his friends but also gorgug "do you have a fucking warrant" thistlespring is clearly not above just tearing it up and thats beautiful

i know i posted abt this and we got inklings of it in the trailer for next ep but like i also said i would love for it to be somewhere in between? like the thing brennan said abt rage fuelling his artificing and synergising was super cool; if gorgug does just fucking decide to rip porter apart i hope it happens in a way that shows porter the whole basis of his ideas of rage were wrong/narrow-minded. i trust brennan and zac and where they decide to steer gorgugs eventual and inevitable confrontation with bitchass porter

I know the fandom at large wants gorgug to go berserk and go off on Porter, but I would honestly prefer gorgug to just stand up for himself with his words. Gorgug only ever uses violence to protect people, never to lash out if he can avoid it and I feel like betraying his character just to get respect of a teacher who wants that from him would be the worst option.

I want him to stand up for himself and ask Porter questions. To refuse to bend to expectations and state that his rage should never be a tool simply used to instill fear because that's not what his parents taught him and not what he wanted of himself. Gorgug wants to be good, he's a kind boy who loves his friends and made a cell tower just to talk to his girlfriend. He's a guy who multiclasses to show how much he cares.

He's not a barbarian like Porter and Porter is a classic barbarian so he doesn't see how that can be useful. He's never seen gorgug in the field making his own version of rage work. I want gorgug to stand his ground on who he is damn the consequences. If Porter respects him whatever. That's what I hope.
