In the beginning Bryt told me so many fantastic ideas for the art, I couldn't resist to take three. (And we had to say goodbye to a fourth concept.) Each of them is close to my heart. My favourite is Cas in the light of the television. It feels like it really captured the atmosphere of the scene with the exhaustion, melancholy and the sudden silence. Plus it has a lot of little details I like. (Also it's a fun fact, my brother and nephew were the models for the pose.) The comic cover has a funny background because in the moment I read the title of it I knew the concept: the famous shot from Der Himmel über Berlin. And luckily Bryt liked the idea too. The third one, the Purgatory scene is just cute, the best part is in my opinion Dean's pink ears ;)

Maybe Dean was crazy. He was smoking a Newport that had burned down to its filter and having a one-sided conversation with a potentially non-existent celestial being that lived in the sky. He owed the bible-thumpers an apology; turned out faith was easier to fall victim to than he’d thought.

Winning is the easy part. Since the end is no longer nigh, all that’s left to do is live. Easier said than done, but Dean’s not giving up. Not when he’s on the verge of getting everything he’d never even dreamed of letting himself want. There’s no margin for error here. Not now. Not with Cas. He has to get it right this time.

For Castiel, duty has always come before anything else. His wants, his desires have never really been relevant. Dean seems to think they are, though, and Castiel has no idea what to with that. Though, maybe it’s about time he let himself figure it out.

Turns out running away from your problems will often bring you closer than ever to them. 

Cas left the bunker two weeks ago and he’s been avoiding Dean ever since, but that doesn’t mean he can get him out of his mind. So when he hears about the ghost town in the news he can’t help but think about their time in Dodge City, just before everything went wrong. The last thing he expects is to find Dean there.

The town is not what it seems and it has lured them in, so they will have to work together to figure a way out (and try to figure themselves out in the process).

Note from the author:

Being part of this project has meant a lot to me. I have been reading destiel fics for quite a few years now, but I had never gathered the courage to publish my own work before. Mitski is one of my favorite artists, so when I first heard about the bang I realized I couldn’t miss the chance to participate in something so special.

The dog motif, which has become a recurrent theme in mitski’s music, always makes me think of Dean, so I figured the best company for a lonely dog would be a crow, as they are known to form lifelong bonds with humans despite being regarded as a bad omen in popular culture. Gemma’s beautiful art truly captures the way the dog and the crow echo in Cas and Dean’s relationship throughout the fic.

deancas dynamic of all time is weirdo4weirdo

they find so much freedom in each other. dean's allowed to be as goofy as he wants to be, press all of cas' buttons and tease and flirt and yap. he can also open up and share all the shit he normally keeps locked away. and he knows that cas won't ever hold that stuff against him. he knows he'll still be his friend afterwards. and conversely, cas is allowed to express himself. to be exasperated and confused. he's allowed to act however he wants. he doesn't have to be stoic or obedient or impersonal like heaven trained him to be, he can be bitchy and fond and curious and funny. and he knows that dean will appreciate the honesty of his expression. dean knows what it's like to repress himself, and he doesn't want cas to live like that.
