Rain is on the forecast this week, appropriately for the upcoming Grand Opening of RainDance Art Gallery! The name chosen for this business is intended to remind guests to be proactive in conserving the island's water. All are invited to share in the celebration of the RainDance Art Gallery Grand Opening on Friday, April 8 at 6pm. The build up for this local art gallery Grand Opening has been highly anticipated following the success of the soft opening held last Friday, April 1st which was well attended. Local artist Porschia Denning and plein air artist Sylvio Sylvestri are presenting their works at the gallery with works that include locally crafted paintings, sculptures, murals, and music!

RainDance Art is also introducing their Art & Wine Tour, which hosts guests on a walk along the seaside of Avalon enjoying the local history of the island as well as the art within it. These tours will conclude with a wine tasting in the gallery, allowing guests to not only enjoy the art within the gallery but to have the freedom to stroll through the privacy of the Metropole Marketplace courtyards while sipping their wine and champagne.

RainDance Art Gallery is a place of hands-on creativity while the artist, Porschia Denning, uses the a portion of the space as an Art Studio. If you find yourself drawn to see what the artist's latest projects are, they are ever changing and evolving as can be seen day to day at the Studio.

A raffle for an original painting by Porschia Denning will be drawn concluding the Grand Opening event, bring a bottle of wine to enter the raffle- one entry per bottle. RainDance Art Gallery is scheduled to have their doors open daily 11am-4pm with their Art & Wine Tours running once a day at 2pm. As an artist based on Catalina Island, California, I discovering beauty everyday which I strive to express in my compositions. My mission as an artist is to share the soothing, peaceful exhilaration that is experienced through DISCOVERY, driven by the pursuit of educating one's self in the subjects of beauty, community, philosophy, and health. These ideas are translated through my art works, taking the physical attributes of sepia and jewel tones, with a vintage feel. Some of my pieces can be compared to the beautiful sketches and notes that could be found in a botanist's field journal made hundreds of years ago, while some of my works are full of life and colorful movement. My work is diverse and this reflects my need to have new experiences frequently in order to maintain a momentum and drive in my work.

This is my original oil on wood panel “Lunar Attraction” 48″x72″ . These sirens are mesmerized by the moon and at a closer look you can see that the moon has the hidden image of two lovers embracing. This is a symbol of love and a view of sirens coming to a moment of clarity, that being “man-eaters” isn’t as satisfying as being open to love.
