“I could have taken it,” she says, a smirk that matches Blake’s spreading across her face. Yang takes everything she’d thought last night back; she does think they’ll be able to get along. Very well.

Blake snorts- the sound is surprisingly cute, another side of her that Yang aches to unlock. “Oh,” she says, hooking her weapon to her back in a clean motion, “I believe you.”

That’s when they really meet.

“When I got back, I almost kissed you.”

Blake starts. Her heart stutters and maybe she dies for a moment, but then it restarts, blood beginning to boil, throat closing up, ears flattening, then pricking forward, then flattening again. “Why didn’t you?”

I have had such a fun time writing this fic with the rest of the @bumblebybigbang server throughout this year, and this project definitely kept me in the spirit even without no new volume this year.

how come nobody talks about this bumbleby moment and the very clear implications of it?? yeah “what if i needed her here for me?” and “friends, huh? just friends?” and countless other moments confirm bumbleby as being explicitly romantic but this moment is all the confirmation we really need

Honestly? The combination of Beacon bees and post-canon bees is the one that induces brain rot in me. If I were able to write fic, I would give it three chapters, where the first would be the bees studying in the secret garden and having a moment where they get to know each other better, getting into how smart Yang really is, and how brave Blake really is. The second chapter would parallel that, but on the island when they confess their love for each other after they kiss surrounded by the weirdest, most vibrantly colored plants in the beyond-world. Blake mentions something about Yang that she likes and Yang is like, “really, that’s what you like about me?!” And then Blake panics and starts listing other things she likes about Yang, and Yang counters with, “I love this about you.” The third chapter would be them surveying the little spot in the forest outside of Vale where they’re going to be building their house. Blake tells Yang she wants a pond, they argue a bit about where to put it relative to their imaginary house, Yang cites some niche ecological knowledge that Blake didn’t expect her to have and they both revel in the fact that they can still learn more and be surprised by the other after all these years. And then they build a pond together.

yes to ALL of this. the fact that their relationship and story has been carried out over all these volumes is what i love most. like, they are THE romance, they are THE relationship in this show,,,

they’ve grown up together, grown apart, grown back towards each other, and now are growing WITH each other is so perfectly executed and put together

i would love to see more parallels between earlier scenes and now and definitely want an epilogue where we get to see them establishing a home together,,, either way, i adore them and can’t wait to see more of their story unfold

When Blake and yang get together (definitely in v9) I think they’re going to have a big conversation about everything before they kiss. Bumbleby and renora have been parallels for a while, but the main difference between them is that Blake and yang communicate a lot more effectively. And I think this conversation will contrast how ren and Nora kissed kind of suddenly

I still think Blake will be the one to kiss yang though. (80% chance Blake kisses yang, 20% it’s completely mutual)

omg yes exactly!! one of the major growth plot points for them was learning how to articulate without lashing out

in v6 yang is incredibly angry and blake is dead set on appeasing, so they lose each other in translation and make simple discussions a lot more complex. in v7 though, after we see them work out these issues, we literally get to see the fruits of this labour! if you watch their robyn hill conversation back, they’ve learned how to actively listen and communicate with one another in an incredibly healthy way, which is something really rare in media (rwby is very good at one on one dialogue and this scene is proof of that)

the after effects of this are obvious too,,, blake’s conversations with ruby and nora in v8 and yang’s with ruby and the way she listens to ren in v8 are proof that they’re learning through each other and becoming better communicators because they know the benefits of this behaviour

anyways now that i’m finally at v9, i can say that i’m not overly excited about the prospect of them just running into each other’s arms and kissing (i know, i’m sorry) because i think there’s a conversation to be had first

i’m a mountain glen parallel truther so ideally i either want them to be having a conversation by the fire at night while everyone else is sleeping and they’re on watch or i want them to both wake up and take a walk down the beach before kissing (also yeah blake initiates 100%)

anyways i agree... rapid emotion is not their thing anymore,,, in their healthiest moments they are communicating and being soft together so i absolutely want that from them here too
