now that i’m done making stupid jokes to cope with that finale lemme articulate my thoughts on how i think v9 will go down:

so i am fully on the ‘v9 will only focus on wonderland squad’ train but also i would not be surprised if we got some vacuo gang content? if we DON’T get vacuo stuff though (like i think), wonderland time will 100% move differently than remnant time does

on the subject of wonderland, i’m leaning towards the big tree at the end being a gateway or doorway back to remnant that will take about half the season to find/learn about. it’s just too central to NOT play some sort of role

so how do they get to it? through the jungle! what will the jungle be filled with? the ghosts of their pasts or their worst fears, and i think the opening title sequence will hint pretty heavily towards this

theme-wise, the whole volume is going to revolve around relationships and emotions and i will die on this hill. the entire past two seasons have been about team rwby’s closeness and how it so often is to the benefit of their dynamic, so it makes perfect sense for this season to focus on said dynamic and the underlying problems. Ruby is probably going to have her sorely overdue breakdown and Weiss has a whole lot of trauma to deal with after the finale that i hope we’ll unpack a bit too

squad dynamic is going to be CRUCIAL so i don’t exactly know how jaune is gonna fit into all of it, athough i will say that if someone has to stay behind a la angella in she ra season 3, it’ll be him. i can’t explain it but i feel in my bones that jaune might die this season, either fighting off grimm/neo/some other monster or needing to close a gate while they all get back to remnant

those are the big beats that i think they might hit but honestly i’ll be happy with just about anything they do if the quality of the v8 writing is any indication of what we’re in for. 

EDIT: i JUST thought of this because of something i read but i feel like neo could potentially be the queen of hearts? crwby was adamant that she isn’t the cheshire cat but they also said it’s funny people thought that, so what if this whole time and her whole arc was leading up to her getting to wonderland and fulfilling her epithet?

HELLO KINGS QUEENS AND OTHER MONARCHS WELCOME TO THE BEE ZONE. i have lots of thoughts and want to hear lots of thoughts so pls tell me what u think 

SO i fully am in the bees are already canon camp despite them technically not being together yet, so i don’t want to say this is the season that will canonize them because in my heart and opinion they already are. what i DO think, however, is that this will be the season where it’s explicitly articulated either through words actions or probably both. 

i don’t think they’ll have them separated for too long given how more than half of v8 went, so i’m imagining they reunite within a couple of eps. while i do love the idea of them just running into each other’s arms and kissing, i don’t think that will happen realistically. i think instead we’re gonna get a fireside chat on the beach similar to their v2 chat when they went on the s&d mission with oobleck, leading to some big expression of feelings and a subsequent kiss. ruby and weiss will be like “finally” but jaune, sweet boy that he is, is either gonna be like “wait y’all were into each other?” or “you two weren’t already dating? i thought you’ve been together since beacon and all that business in argus was just a short term break up!”

there will also be at LEAST one moment where one of them trips or stumbles and the other very homoerotically catches them and pulls them in. i also feel a wink coming - i can’t explain it i just FEEL it. a date too maybe, like a night away from jrw that inevitably is cut short because of some incoming danger. this could happen in vacuo though double date with crosshares pls

i think we’ll get inundated with bee content to the point that if the season comes out in october it might be enough to push bees to the top of the tumblr ship rankings of 2021.

v9 going this direction even better contextualizes why there was no bee kiss or an overload of content in v8; if this volume truly has been planned since the beginning, holding off until then will do even more in terms of shutting up some of the “bees are forced” squad, not that i give one single solitary shit or fuck what they think. 

final thought is that we are 100% getting another bee song on the v9 soundtrack and it will be exceptional

this was a lot but i need these written down SOMEWHERE so i can come back to them and see how wrong i was in a few months because honestly i have never known what crwby was gonna do anyways
