"Don't use Libby because it costs libraries too much, pirate instead" is such a weird, anti-patron, anti-author take that somehow manages to also be anti-library, in my professional librarian-ass opinion.
It's well documented that pirating books negatively affects authors directly* in a way that pirating movies or TV shows doesn't affect actors or writers, so I will likely always be anti-book piracy unless there's absolutely, positively no other option (i.e. the book simply doesn't exist outside of online archives at all, or in a particular language).
Also, yeah, Libby and Hoopla licenses are really expensive, but libraries buy them SO THAT PATRONS CAN USE THEM. If you're gonna be pissed at anybody about this shitty state of affairs, be pissed at publishing companies and continue to use Libby or Hoopla at your library so we can continue to justify having it to our funding bodies.
One of the best ways to support your library having services you like is to USE THOSE SERVICES. Yes, even if they are expensive.
*Yes, this is a blog post, but it's a blog post filled with links to news articles. If you can click one link, you can click another.

Zelda teaching Sabrina to drive.
also posted on ao3 here / rated general
“Now do I hit the gas?” Sabrina asked, bouncing in the driver’s seat of the Spellman hearse. Her hands gripped the steering wheel at ten and two as she glanced between the long stretch of driveway in front of them and her Aunt Zelda who was sitting beside her, cigarette hanging out the rolled down window.
“You have to change gears to drive first,” Harvey said from where he, Theo, and Roz sat in the backseat. There wasn’t really a backseat, in the traditional sense, so the trio sat cross legged, bracing unbuckled in the flat expanse.
“Usually,” Zelda said dryly, “There’s silence in the backseat of the hearse.”
Harvey swallowed.
“Thank you for teaching us all to drive Ms. Spellman,” said Roz, earning a look of betrayal from Harvey.
“Yeah,” echoed Theo, “It’ll be great to have a head start when we start driver’s ed at school.”
“You’re welcome Rosalind, Theodore,” said Zelda.
“It’s just Theo-“
“Now Sabrina, you must change the gear to drive first,” Zelda continued.
Sabrina paused for a beat, “How do I do that again?”
“You use the-“ Zelda gestured between them.
“The gearshift,” said Harvey.
“The gearshift,” Zelda said it slightly louder than Harvey, “And put it to D for drive.”
Sabrina performed the necessary steps, the hearse slowly rolling forward.
“Now gently press the gas,” Zelda instructed, “Gently Sabrina!”
Sabrina’s foot hit the gas in a way that was anything but gentle. The hearse jerked forward, driving down the driveway faster than a hearse should, really, the road ahead approaching far too quickly.
“Sabrina!” Zelda’s cigarette bounced out of her hand.
“Woo hoo!” Theo cheered, “Let’s take this to the highway!”
“Are you sure we’re safe back here, there’s no seatbelts,” said Roz.
“Watch out for the tombstones!” Harvey pointed between Sabrina and Zelda as Sabrina frantically turned the wheel, veering off the dirt driveway and towards the graveyard.
“Hit the brakes, Sabrina!” Cried Roz.
“Which one is that?” Sabrina said, equally loudly. The hearse wasn’t made for off-roading, and bounced through the grass making everyone’s shouts distorted.
“A witches ride normal ride is broomstick or mop, make this hearse surely stop!” Zelda yelled. Purple magic surrounded the front of the car, bringing them to a halt. All the warning lights came on the dashboard, beeping loudly before stopping as Zelda reached over and turned the hearse off and taking the keys.
“Okay maybe we’re not ready for the freeway,” Theo said, after a moment.
“Zelda! Sabrina! What do you think you’re doing?” Hilda’s voice called from the front porch.
Everyone scrambled out of the hearse, Harvey muttering “Uh oh,” under his breath.
“I said to wait for me!” Hilda said, stomping down the steps. She usually wasn’t one to get mad, but she wore a furrowed brow and a flour covered apron, “You don’t even have a driver’s license!”
“It’s just a hearse, Hilda, how hard can it be,” Zelda said flippantly.
“You almost crashed! With the children in the car!”
“Maybe we should go,” said Theo.
“Good idea,” Roz agreed.
“Why don’t you all come over to my place tomorrow,” said Harvey, “And I’ll show you how to drive in my dad’s old truck.”
“Thanks Harvey,” said Sabrina, waving to her friends before turning back to her bickering aunts.

*whispers* Lilith teaching Sabrina to drive fic 👀
also posted on ao3 here / rated teen
Lilith was beginning to regret picking Mary Wardwell as the Greendale High School teacher to impersonate. Mary Wardwell was a patient woman, a Godly woman, a long suffering woman if Sabrina’s grades were any indication, but the true testament to her dedication to her students- or proof of the lack of resources at Greendale High- was the fact that she taught Driver’s Ed.
She had learned to drive in 1899 when a German mad named Carl had tried to impress her but he had ended up one car short as she took off across the country side. But over the years of the automobile evolution, nothing could have prepared her to try to teach high school students to drive, especially Sabrina Spellman.
“This is stupid,” said Sabrina, crossing her arms as she stood a few feet away from from the vehicle, “I can just ask Harvey for a ride.”
“Mr. Kinkle may not always be available to lend his services,” said Lilith, adjusting Mary’s glasses, pushing them up her nose.
“Then I’ll do it the old fashioned way and ride a broom,” Sabrina said.
“Get in the car Sabrina,” Lilith’s patience was wearing thin. “Passing driver’s ed is a requirement to graduate and you want to join your friends next month don’t you?”
With a huff, Sabrina took the keys and slid into the driver’s seat, fixing her skirt, flashing her panties as she did so. Lilith rolled her eyes, stalking over to the passenger seat.
“Alright, turn the key in the ignition to start the car,” Lilith said, “Then put your foot on the break-“
“The break is the one on the right-?” Sabrina asked, pressing the throttle with her Mary Jane clad foot and making the car’s engine rev.
Sabrina shrieked and let go of the steering wheel, taking foot off the gas.
“The break is the left pedal,” said Lilith, not reacting.
“I remember now,” Sabrina replied, moving her foot.
“Put the car into drive and then slowly ease off the break,” Lilith countined.
Sabrina pried one hand off the steering wheel to move the gearshift, the knuckles of her other hand white. Lilith knew she was too proud to admit it, but she was afraid to drive. Shifting gears, Sabrina took a deep breath and slowly let off the break.
The car smoothly rolled forward and Sabrina threw a bright, brilliant grin at Lilith. Her smile was as warm as the sun, and Lilith wanted to bask in it.
“I’m doing it!”
“Well done Sabrina,” Lilith allowed the smallest smile in return, “Now gently press the gas-“
The car jerked forward as Sabrina pressed the gas too hard, sending them straight towards a tree.
“Sabrina!” Lilith gasped. Sabrina’s elbows locked, keeping them on course, but Lilith grabbed the steering wheel. “Break, Sabrina! Hit the break!”
She jerked them to the left as Sabrina moved her foot. They bumped against the curb, skidding to a halt as Sabrina squeaked. Lilith pressed a hand to her chest, the other shifting the car back into park.
“Well, perhaps that’s enough driving lessons for now.”
Sabrina flung her arms around Lilith, kissing her on the cheek, “But you’re such a good teacher. Maybe we should move the lesson to the backseat.”
Lilith rolled her eyes, but her hand found its way to Sabrina’s knee, “Perhaps we should.”

i’m obsessed with benedick and beatrice and the fact that he trusts her. claudio refuses to believe that hero is innocent no matter what she says. no one believes her, even leonato immediately takes claudio’s word, a man who he has known for a few days, over his own daughter’s. and beatrice knows it’s a lie but no one believes her because the word of a woman means nothing. but benedick believes her. he doesn’t know hero that well, he has no evidence to prove that she is innocent, but he knows she is because beatrice says so, and he trusts her - more than he trusts even claudio, his “sworn brother”. the contrast between claudio’s “proof” destroying his trust in hero, and benedick trusting beatrice no matter what, even though he has no proof
