The German Market can be a great spot for photography. It's always busy with something always happening, it's just about waiting for the perfect shot.

The original photo was taken later in the evening, it was just starting to become dark. That slight darkness was the key for the lights to turn on, making a nice reflection off the puddles on the ground. The four people in the foreground had perfectly positioned themselves to make a nice line for the shot, something worthy of a band cover album. It looks really good in black and white.

As it gets darker each week I can't wait to see what effect it gives off around Birmingham.

While I was waiting for my train home I noticed the atmosphere around me would be perfect for a black & white photograph. Everyone is exhausted from their day at work and a delay doesn't make them feel any better.

The first image is my favourite out of the two I took. You can clearly see who the main subjects are and you get a sense of the current mood, even though you can't see their facial emotions. Just their body language is enough to show not everyone is happy. To improve, I could have taken it at a better angle but at the time I didn't have time to set up anyway, using my Pixel 2 camera.

The second image is pretty similar to the first, trying to tell the same message. However, the man on the right is taking up 50% of frame, covering up the people in front of him. If I was to take this again, I would move to a better position so that he was either not in shot or where he is a size comparable to the others.

I've been looking at starting a black & white photography project. The black & white effect seems to highlight the shadows around the subject more, which results in it being highlighted better to the viewer. I want to test out this effect more with different subjects. I took one of my recent photographs and tested the look of it in black & white and I prefer it's new look. To improve, I could give the background a slight blur, which brings the subject out more. I'll get to work on the project right away!
