Hi everyone!
This has been a really hard decision to make, and one I think I’ve unfairly been putting off, but I don’t feel like I’m in the right state of mind to admin a group anymore. My intention was always to create a longstanding, safe and inclusive environment, but personal and professional pressures have sapped my energy and attention to the point where I’m no longer running the group up to my own standards. I want to be selfish and keep pretending it’s still working, but you deserve better and the fact that you’ve been so patient with me is just proof positive of how incredible you all are. This decision hasn’t been made lightly, but I’ve decided it’s time to shut down SalemRoleplayHQ for now.
But I really, truly mean it when I say how incredible this community is, so Andi, Jess, and Kenney have graciously stepped up to create a new group that everyone is welcomed to join. Hopefully, it’ll be a seamless transition and you all can continue to grow and explore your beautiful characters. Please check it out here! They will make sure to keep you apprised of any details as we transition.
I’m so sorry if this announcement has disappointed anyone. It’s not the ending I had hoped for, but I have to be honest with myself about my capabilities, and this group in its current state would only suffer under my leadership. But even though I’ll no longer be your admin, I hope you know I’ll still be here as a friend or confidante if you ever need it. If you have questions or even want to express your disappointment in me, my door is, as always, wide open.
I love you all, and am truly grateful for what we’ve built together.

Hey anon! It's pretty dang active! There's people online and posting every day and the dash moves at a comfortable pace. Not overwhelming at all. We are coming into the holiday season soon though and I expect there might be a dip in activity when that happens but the best way to make sure it's active is to join and add to the fun!

Orion is the oldest child of Bennett and Eliza Boyd, who met each other at a roller rink in a podunk little Minnesota town. Two rebellious teens who quickly fell in love, they vowed to travel, to see the ocean, and ultimately, to stay together forever. And they did it all. They bought an old beat-up van and drove through the US. They played guitars on moonlit nights, sitting on the roof and watching fireflies.
When Orion came into the world, Bennett and Eliza were thrilled, and had no plans to stop their travel. Toddling little Orion came with them as they drove through dusty mid-western states, along the western coast, and even into Mexico. He was a creative little kid who loved animals and begged for a dog. His mother homeschooled him, teaching him the fundamentals for preschool and kindergarten. Since they traveled so often, he didn’t get to make a lot of friends. When his sister Berryhill came along, his parents began debating more and more the possibility of settling down… at least so their kids could get a proper education. After a few more years of going from place to place, Eliza and Ben settled down in a cute little home in California. Ben found an old shack on a picturesque beach and fixed it up, turning it into a perfect spot to rent out boogie boards, surfboards, snorkel gear, and grab a snack.
As Orion got older, the third Boyd sibling, Sunshine, was born. Orion loved teaching Berry and Sunny everything he knew about surfing, and the three of them spent many afternoons running around in the sand until they came back to the surf shack to help their dad close up for the night. As Orion got older, he studied and worked at the shack, debating college and secondary education. But he wasn’t too smart, and didn’t think he’d do too well. Still, he tried. Eventually, Orion was running it on his own for days on end while their parents traveled again, studying at night. Orion would watch Sunny and Berry, make sure they were getting on the bus for school, and would run the little shop on weekends while attending college. He was dating a beautiful girl, going surfing every day, and working towards a future.
Orion didn’t talk about the fights with his long-time girlfriend Emma very often. He figured people wouldn’t really take it seriously- an adult man, 6′7″, getting slapped around and made fun of by his 5′7″ girlfriend. After being guilted into moving with her to Boston for her to pursue a reporter job, Orion found himself presented with a new start, in a new place. He hated the big city but adapted quickly, meeting new friends at a local drag and karaoke bar, and realizing his own self worth. After a nasty fight left him with fingernail scratches across his face and bruises on his arms, he broke it off with his then fiancée, filing a restraining order and moving himself out to Salem. Since then he’s really come into his own. Orion started doing drag, performing as ‘Celeste’- something Emma never would’ve condoned, and met so many amazing and supportive friends. He’s a certified paramedic and living on his own with his rescue, Jupiter.

The first thing you notice about Aksel is how tall and slim he is, this in itself is a blessing as he is one of the principal male leads in the new York City Ballet. elegant and charming, Aksel is known around New York as the one who got away from a prominent socialite. Now living in Manhattan, this wealthy, attractive 33 year old has the world at his feet. He is a muse for Louis Vitton and has guest-starred in the Nutcracker at the royal ballet in London and worked a summer the Paris opera ballet. Away from the ballet, Aksel is an astute businessman who buys properties, redesigns them and then sells them for a profit. Aksel is also known more recently for his horror movie debut. Although he loves acting, he will always put dancing first.
Born in St Petersburg, Aksel’s upbringing was a hard one. His family were poor and the only way they could make any money was when his father would work for the Russian mafia, clearing away dead bodies. His mother was a school teacher and Aksel and his twin sister Alyria had to fend for themselves while their parents worked long hours for very little pay. Alyria was sent to a ballet class at the age of 4 and after a while she got bored. One afternoon Aksel sneaked into the class and within minutes he was picking up the routine like a natural. Although it was not the done thing for a boy to do ballet, his parents allowed him to pursue his love for ballet and at the age of 11 he was sent to Moscow to train at the prestigious The Vaganova Academy, his sister joined a year later to study costume and makeup. Life was good until he came back to St Petersburg and saw the state of the house that his parents lived in. That was the moment he vowed to get them a better place to live. Although Aksel was a Ballet dancer, his father wanted him to also be safe and he was trained in the army cadets when he wasn’t at school. He was taught how to survive in the wilderness, drive cars and fight.
At sixteen he was spotted by a talent agent who sent him to Paris for the summer to work at the Opera Ballet. There he threw himself into work and any money he made, he sent back to Russia to his family. Within a year they had moved to an apartment in Moscow as Aksel was sent to study a degree in Ballet at the Bolshoi Ballet Academy. He worked hard and landed his first lead in a production in London, his family came with him and spent the winter in England, enjoying their freedom. Alyria wanted to stay in London and managed to get a job at the royal opera house as a head make up artist. Her parents also decided to stay in London, but Aksel had other plans. A socialite in France had fallen for him and they ended up dating for a few years before splitting without anyone knowing why and which he refused to discuss. From there Aksel moved to Salem and within weeks he was the lead role in a performance. The ballet company paid him well and he managed to secure an apartment . Now content in his life, Aksel has everything he could want. But there are still secrets lurking in his closet. Why did he and the socialite split up? why does he have a spare room in his apartment? and why does a quarter of his wages get taken from him each month?

HIS STORY

Being a kid in a small town had its advantages.
While growing up in Gainesville, Georgia, Aiden was known for more than his accomplishments. He played football for Gainesville's Red Elephants, but he wasn't humbled by it. From money to material items - he believed he was owed everything. He played a bunch of sports while his grades faltered, especially in math. Due to his value as a team player, no one would kick him off - he was too good for his own good.
Elementary and Middle school was questionable for him. His plans had been set, but everything changed after high school. Aiden shifted his focus from becoming a paramedic to becoming an NFL player after achieving high school success in the sport. He was definitely committed to becoming an MVP football player, despite the pleadings of his parents. Aiden failed miserably at tryouts. It was obvious to the coach that he was not strong or resilient enough for the team. His dreams were crushed. His mind was divided by his failure. He was still offered a full scholarship to college to become a paramedic, however.
His girlfriend at the time broke up with him because she didn't want to be with someone who was not successful. While college was still in the cards for him, it was not imminent. He had to demonstrate that he was ready and willing to pursue this college degree. Physical sports had been replaced by academic sports. As soon as college started, he no longer had time for relationships, drugs, and drinking. Aiden was completely dedicated to his studies.
His head was fully on his shoulders after earning a degree from Georgia University, so he suggested leaving the state. In order to start over, he needed to escape the state. His parents agreed. Although they offered Aiden a lot of money to make it in another state, he politely declined - he wanted to do it himself.
He had searched endlessly for an apartment outside of Georgia before landing on a place in Salem, Massachusetts. Despite his dislike for the rumors and urban legends circulating in that town, he didn't want to pick a place where he would lose focus. As soon as Aiden made up his mind, he packed up his things and headed to Salem, Massachusetts, to find his forever home.
Little did he know, this was the universe's plan all along. He was never supposed to make the football team. He was destined to become a paramedic in a new state within a new city. Aiden’s life was about to change forever. After moving to Massachusetts, Aiden learned that his mother had been diagnosed with cancer; he began to question why the universe was testing him. It was only his first year in Salem, too.
The days passed, but he still hadn't found a job or heard from anyone. Soon he received the call he wished he had never received. An error made by the doctor led to the passing of his mother. Her cancer was in its final stages. The funeral in Gainesville was Aiden’s most difficult experience.
Several hours after the funeral, he received a call that gave him a little hope, and he knew it was his mother's doing. He was now working full-time as a paramedic. Aiden now lives in a decent house with his Husky, Bear. His life is single, but he's eagerly awaiting the next blessing.

As I’m sure you’ve noticed, things have slowed down around the main because we’ve been completely overwhelmed with real life circumstances.
