alright this has been rattling around in my noggin for way too long now and I need to get it out before I go bonkers. do you have any ideas about how spinel would feel about an s/o or love interest who can pole dance?

OH, Spinel has SO. MANY. THOUGHTS. ON HAVING A PARTNER WHO CAN POLE DANCE...!! 

One of the FIRST ones being: 

“... What’s “pole dancing”...?” 

See, the funny thing about Gems is- they’re MADE. As in- artificially created. They don’t KNOW about the... uh... more... salacious side of humanity; of being organic. They can’t really RELATE to any of it. And although pole dancing, in and of itself, isn’t something that has to be seen as- unsavory, as lewd- 

Well, let’s just say that Spinel’s going to be getting some pretty heavy culture shock, here. Regardless of whether you do it for work, for a hobby, just for fun, she’s going to have a bit of a hard time wrapping her head around it. 

“Is it like- like ACTUAL dancing..? I-I guess I don’t really understand why you need a POLE, of all things, for it..! How’re you gonna include somebody ELSE in your dance if you’re just-??” 

Once you take the time to sit her down and explain it to her a bit more, though, she’ll sort of start to- get it. 

She- WAS (or, well, she still lives with The Diamonds whenever she’s not visiting you), and.. sort of IS, a performer. She GETS putting on a show for other people to enjoy. Putting two and two together and viewing pole dancing as an act is what truly sparks her appreciation for it. 

She thinks what you do is INCREDIBLE..!! The way that you can twist and turn your body like that- masterfully creating an array of poses and flashy displays- 

It really reminds her of, well, 

HERSELF!! 

... And, not to mention the fact that she... flusters easily. VERY easily. We’re talking even the slightest wink from you, the faintest flash of an adoring smile- oh, not to mention your possibly revealing ATTIRE while you put on your SHOWS.... 

Don’t get her wrong- it all only ADDS to her fascination with you and the “ancient ritual”! (Her words, not yours). She just can’t help but to keep her eyes on you at all times! She’s completely and utterly transfixed as you work your magic on her.

..Only to then glance away, a blushing mess, as you toss her a kiss in between your twirls and spins. 

Over all, though, your talent is just added onto the ever-growing list of reasons why she adores and respects you! You humans can do things, think of things, that Gems would never even DREAM of! Especially considering the fact that Gems don’t naturally dream, of course! 

She’d want to learn and practice with you! Spinel would want to try to include herself into your life as MUCH as she POSSIBLY can! A new way to entertain! A new way to EXPRESS yourself! 

A new way to have FUN! 

All with YOU! 

What more could she possibly WANT?

Things to Do in October // No Longer Accepting!

🔪 - have a horror movie marathon

Okay, don’t get Spinel wrong. She LOVES spending time with you. You’re the light of her life- the apple of her eye. Every waking moment (of YOUR life, since she doesn’t sleep) is spent with her arms wrapped around your waist, and her smile as wide and as content as can be. 

No, she ADORES you. She didn’t exactly have any reason not to. And, trust her, if you bored her, made her unhappy, didn’t interest in her in the SLIGHTEST, she would show it. 

… However…. the moment you recommend a horror movie marathon, she can’t lie- 

She kinda deflates a little. 

“Movies…? BEFORE Halloween night..? Y-You… You ARE kidding… right..?” 

“I thought this holiday was supposed to be SCARY! EXCITING! I mean- I’m down for whatever you are, but- seriously..?” 

She’s skeptical as you try to explain to her the reasons that people make, and watch, scary movies. None of it fully clicks with her. 

If you wanted some THRILL, then why didn’t you two just go to a haunted house right down the road? She’d heard all about how humans would set up buildings, hire actors, go all out to give their visitors the time of their lives. In fact, you two HAD gone to a few, a week or so, ago. 

And that had been FUN!

.. But… watching a screen for hours on end..? Eh, okay. If you want her to zone out and snuggle you while you end up taking a NAP halfway through the third movie, then she’d indulge you in that. 

She helped you make the popcorn, chose the selection for the night with you (with minimal real input, since she didn’t have an actual opinion on many of the options), and prepared a bowl of candy for you two to share. Pretty soon, you both were all cozied up on your couch; wrapped in a blanket. Spinel opted to lean up next to you, hoping for, and naturally receiving, an arm around her shoulders. 

And she smiled throughout the first movie! Sure, it was never really- SCARY to her, but you laughed, you screamed, you commentated, and every little thing about you just made her gem sing. 

Who cares if she didn’t fully- GET this human tradition? She had YOU, and honestly, it’s all she WANTED out of your movie night.

Though, by the second movie in, she- kind of surprised herself by getting… sort of… into it. 

She liked the visuals, the story, the characters; the monsters POPPED OUT at her more than the other films’ had. They looked so- REAL, so LIFE-LIKE. Heck, she’d squeezed your arm and resisted the urge to ask you if the people who made the movie HADN’T used any special effects, because- 

WOW, does she feel her breath catch in her throat. “Movies are fake”, you’d had to explain when you first introduced the very concept. 

Spinel wasn’t stupid. She probably hadn’t even needed the explanation in the first place- she HAD basic deduction skills, thanks, sugar. 

No, she just… she didn’t know how to explain it, but by the time the devilish fiend caught up with the main protagonist, the both of you were SCREAMING at the TV. 

“NO!!! DON’T GO IN THERE, ‘YA MORON!! NOOOOOOO-!!” 

She just got so WRAPPED UP in it all! She was- fascinated by how well humans could weave and execute stories! 

By the time midnight struck, you two were clinging onto each other; eyes transfixed on the wild chase going on in your- what? Sixth, seventh movie? Practically all of the candy was gone, and the popcorn hadn’t even made it past film number two. 

Not that either of you particularly noticed, because your favorite character just got the axe. 

Quite literally. 

“AAAAGGGHH, I HATE THIS MOVIE- I HATE IT, I HATE IT, I HATE IT!! KATIE DIDN’T DESERVE THAT!!! Y/N WE HAVE TO WATCH A NEW ONE, RIGHT NOW!! CHANGE IT, CHANGE IT, CHANGE IT-” 

And you indulge her in that, because, quite frankly, you couldn’t agree more.

Okay. She has to say it, sometime, so it might as well be now. 

Spinel ADORES how just so very- SHORT you are! And- yeah, admitting that to herself, FINALLY, felt… MORE than a little weird. MORE than a little.. creepy. 

But it was the truth, and nothing BUT the truth! 

It decided to really and truly click in with her one time while you were texting away on your phone. You’d just been minding your own business, going about life as usual, when she just.. plopped her elbow down RIGHT on top of your head. 

Oh, and let her tell you, the LOOK on your face was enough to make her little metaphorical heart BURST. 

From that moment on, she made it her MISSION to CHERISH you in all of your button-cute glory. 

.. But in ways that weren’t too obvious, of course. She LOVED it when it’d take you FOREVER to put two-and-two together whenever she was trying to flatter you; spoil you, treasure you. Being vague, obscure, in her affections every now and then just warmed you up to the times she was up front and open about it, in her honest opinion. 

Spinel relished in watching you squirm. 

And so, the casual comments increased in frequency: 

“Hey, Y/N, how’s the weather, down there?” 

“Y/N, I think you’re my FAVORITE armrest~!” 

“Sugarcakes, NOTHIN’, and I mean NOTHIN’, could EVAH’ measure up to you~!” 

She’d make it a point to, to an OBNOXIOUS extent, reach for things and grab them for you before you could do it, yourself. 

Want to grab a plate from the top cabinet that you can easily reach? Spinsy’s got’cha covered. Going shopping and you’re eyeing something that’s just within arm’s length? Ol’ Spinelli’s on the case! Need to, embarrassingly enough, use your trusty step stool in the comfort and privacy of your own home? Oop, looks like your LOVELY girlfriend’s five steps ahead of you! 

“Honestly, Y/N, what would you do without me~?” she’d coo, acting like she didn’t know precisely what she was doing. 

Call her cruel, but teasing you was just too much fun! 

And that’s really all it ever was, anyway. Fun. Harmless fun, coming from a place of love. 

Spinel has her limits, though, just as she knows that you have yours. The MOMENT she sees her behavior is actually starting to get under your skin, she drops the act. All of it. 

The next thing you know, she’s clinging to you and peppering you with kisses; genuine, sincere apologies flying out of her mouth before you can even have the time to blink. 

All she wants is for you to feel rightfully special, unique, and perfect. Just the way you are.

After all! 

“There’s no shame in bein’ small, y’know! What do I look like to you? A DIAMOND?!” 

And she can only hope that that’s enough to reassure you, at the end of the day.

Things to Do in October // Still Accepting!

🍬 - go shopping for Halloween candy

“Y/N, look at this!”

“Y/N, over here!!” 

“Y/N, pleeeaaaase can we get some???” 

“Y/N, this kind’s my FAVORITE!” 

Those are among some of the things you can expect to hear as you and Spinel wander along the different aisles. The pink Gem dashes around from bag of candy to bag of candy, following you and your cart like an excitable puppy. 

It’s her very first Halloween with you, and naturally, she’s enthralled by the very concept; if not a little bit confused. 

“Y/N, WHY do we gotta GIVE the candy AWAY?” she’d practically squealed. “YOU’RE the one PAYIN’ for it!” 

Oh, how she’d stamped her feet and given you her signature pout before you two went out. Her fists balled at her sides and her face turned beet red, to boot. 

Of course, it took you minimal convincing to get her to go out with you to the store; how could she say no to you, anyway? Within seconds of stepping through the doors, Spinel’s eyes lit up, and she was zigzagging all over the place in no time; greedy hands wanting to grab as much candy as they could carry. 

Every time you’d explain to her that you couldn’t afford a certain brand, or that you’d already placed said brand in the cart, she’d whimper and whine; hoping that’d be enough to win you over. 

Naturally, it isn’t. But it doesn’t stop her from trying, though. 

The second you let her out of your sight, however, she’s going to be trying to sneak in little extra things and hope you don’t notice. She’s a menace to society, and it’s pretty obvious that you both know it. 

In spite of it all, you two end up having a lot of fun together, at the end of the day, and that’s really what matters the most. Sure, you maybe had to apologize once or twice (or thrice) for your girlfriend’s antics, but when is that never the case? 

On the drive back home, you don’t have the heart to tell Spinel not to reach over to one of the backseats and start helping herself to some candy. It turns into a rhythm, before long: one piece for her, and one piece for you. She’s even nice enough to pop the tiny treats into your mouth for you. 

You both finish the evening by taking turns belting out songs on the radio, coming off of your respective sugar highs.
