You know something interesting about the diamonds and Steven himself I noticed after rewatching is the way they displayed thier powers.

On one hand ,Steven started out by learning powers that were mostly not offensive , healing spit,his bubble,his shield, floating, connecting with other people etc etc(Obviously he does use some of his powers offensively,but he's mainly a support).

On the other hand,The diamonds are first shown displaying offensive powers,Blue's depression field,her blue balls of light,Yellow's electric-like powers that can poof any gem,maybe even a diamond,and White's mind control.

However once you get to future,Steven starts learning more offensive abilities,his pink glowy form that enhances his physical powers,his energy shields that crushed Jasper etc etc.

Meanwhile the diamonds have learned to use thier powers in a supportive way, Blue's clouds, Yellow making missing parts of gems, White's whole mind thing.

And also with Volleyball's memories of Pink diamond,and what we knew of her as rose quartz and pearl's thoughts of her,we can kinda imagine that Pink diamond had sort of came into her powers much in the same way Steven did(by dealing with stress in an unhealthy way) ,but then went on to become someone who made pearl think that she only had healing powers.

I just think that's an interesting dichotomy.
