Swanchester Family | Mary's 1st Halloween

“Don’t you think it’s a little morbid?” Dean asked. “I mean, we did sort of kill a dragon. And now we’re dressing our daughter up as one for Halloween? Maybe we should have gone with the fairy costume your mom picked out.”

Emma giggled as she adjusted the top of Mary’s costume so it fit better on her head. “She picked this one. And it’s adorable.”

“You know the only reason she walked over to this costume is because Henry was holding it. She would have picked a potato costume if he’d had it in his hands,” Dean reasoned, adjusting the cape around his shoulders. “Why did I agree to this again? This isn’t even accurate. Vampires don’t wear capes or tuxedos. I look like a sleep deprived Blues Brother.”

“I think you look devilishly handsome,” Emma teased as she helped him tie his bow. “And it’s Mary’s first time trick-or-treating. Last year she wasn’t walking yet.” She walked over to pick up her pointed hat, placing it on the top of her head. “Besides, I’m a witch; and it’s not like witches actually wear these things.”

Dean smirked, ready to make a comment about how technically she was a witch – she did have magic. But she’d threatened the next time he teased her about it she would make him sleep on the couch. Instead, he decided to bite his tongue and let it pass when Henry finally made it down the stairs dawning his makeshift Wendigo mask. They were worried about the mask scaring Mary, but the minute she saw it – she laughed. Dean grinned with pride when Henry walked over the baby, who giggled at her brother.

“Alright, is everyone ready?” Emma asked as Dean picked up Mary and saddled her to his waist. “We’re picking up Sam and Ruby, then meeting everyone at Granny’s.”

“Do you think Sam will be dressed as a werewolf like I suggested?” Henry asked as he followed his father out the door. “Or do you think Ruby wouldn’t let him?”  

Dean laughed, “I don’t know kid. I’m still a little sore at your mom. When I told her I wanted to be Batman, this isn’t what I meant – oft,” she smacked him in the arm. “But you’re right. The classic costumes are much more interesting… and ironic.”

Regina’s mouth fell, “So that makes you -” 

He smiled, “Uncle Crowley.” “But you’re a -” 

“Demon? Yes, well, that’s what happens when you’re abandoned as a child - you sell your soul, die, become a demon, rise to King of the Crossroads, and eventually King of Hell. Or in your case, the Queen of Hearts and Evil Queen.” Crowley chuckled, “I must say, we have quite the dynasty.”

When someone is on an early chapter of OUAST and leaves a review that “there’s witches in supernatural lol”

Bruh.

You’re missing the whole premise.

At this point in the Winchester’s lives, the only “magic” they’ve ever known has been supplied from something else. Demons, angels, monsters. They don’t know about Eve yet, the fairy world, world-hopping, or even the spells and shit that suddenly are common place by like the eighth season. And the ONLY witches or magic they’ve ever met have come from people who sell their soul to demons and basically have to make gross sacrifices to perform magic. At this point for them, they’ve never encountered magic in any other way. Dean doesn’t believe that Disney princesses are actually real people from a magical world. He’s never seen it, so he doesn’t believe it. THAT’S the point. That’s why it’s important to remember the timeline of the story.

And even if I did fuck up, it’s my story. In this story, the Winchesters don’t believe in fairy tale, no-strings magic or nose-twitching witches. Get on board, or gtfo. Don’t leave condescending reviews on a story because you think you’re clever. I’m so over it.
