I’m going to let you guys in on a little secret. For as long as I can remember I’ve hated having photos of myself. And a lot of that hate stems from me being ashamed of my own body. This unhappyness only grew by the time I started cosplaying. It dictated character types I cosplay, the outfits I made, the groups I was in, and it even alienated me completely from wanting to cosplay girls. ( I felt my body looked better smooshed in my binder and my boobs made me look chubby). I would feel ashamed in cosplay groups standing next to my friends worried I was ruining their work with my inadequacies. These reason where why I didn’t particularly like participating in cosplay photoshoots and honestly still don’t. BUT as much as 2016 sucked it was the year I finally started feeling comfortable in my own skin. I took character/ costume risks I would have never dared to before, I MADE NOT ONE BUT 2 BODY SUITS AND EVEN WORE ONE OUT IN PUBLIC!!!! And I finally took the advice no matter who you are or what you look like you can cosplay whatever and who ever you like. Advice I had been giving out for years but never allowed myself to take. So in 2017 I’m doing just that. Here are 3 full body shot from magfest. 2 are some the most comfortable and fun costumes I own and just happen to be ladies and one I finally fit in after hanging on to it for 3 years. I love the way I look in all of them. So this year I challenge not only myself but you all as well to not to be your own enemy.
