Alright well. Now I’m kinda obligated to actually read Red, White & Royal Blue 💀 I expected like 1 note on this, I knew the book was popular but I didn’t know the fandom was THAT active

Can I please just talk about the Red, White & Royal Blue covers for a moment?

For context, this is the original English edition cover:

I was scrolling through trying to find the French cover, and most are just cute variations of the original cover like the Portuguese and Danish ones, or the Japanese one which is formatted differently but has the same colour scheme and some cool poses:

Then there’s Russia who absolutely went OFF on their cover my god:

Assignment misunderstood in the best possible way— the story is a rom com yet this right here makes it look like it’d be some sort of adventure-spy-action movie or smth.

But then there’s the French edition.

WHAT IS THIS

WHY IS THE TITLE DIFFERENT

AND WHY ISNT IT IN FRENCH

ITS SO SIMPLE

Like painfully simple 😭

Mis-à-jour! Je lis Em en ce moment!

C’est vraiment pas à quoi je m’attendais mais vraiment j’adore.

L’écriture dès la première page est émouvante mais à la fois informative (au moins, jusqu’à date) et ça m’a vraiment piqué l’intérêt. Les chapitres sont courtes mais claires, donc ça se trouve comme une lecture facile.

En tout cas, ça s’entraîne à devenir un coup de coeur! On verra 👀 Et sinon, je m’intéresse à ses autres livres.

Deux livres achetés au Indépendant ce soir :)

J’attends encore The Ones Were Meant to Find, donc j’ai décidé de visiter la section de livres durant mes épiceries. J’étais au bout de m’acheter Shadow & Bone (quel coincidence de l’avoir vu!) mais c’était la couverture Netflix donc j’me suis dit que je peux tout juste lire la copie de ma sœur pendant que j’attends de m’acheter l’édition spéciale haha.

Voilà que j’ai ramasser deux livres français:

“Em” par Kim Thúy, que j’ai vu la dernière fois que j’y étais. Elle est très courte mais je crois qu’elle sera bonne. Ça parle de la guerre en Vietnam.

“Midnight Club” par Christopher Pike, contrairement au titre, est traduite en français. C’est plus ado comme genre, mais le résumé semble intéressant. Cinq jeunes qui ont des maladies inguérissables se promettent que la première personne à mourir contractera les autres du au-delà (comme fantôme j’imagine? On verra).

J’ai aussi pensé peut-être procurer la nouvelle de Patrick Sénécale, mais l’horreur c’est pas ce que je préfère lire. Contente avec mes choix en tout cas :)

Currently rereading We Were Liars! I’m leaving little notes on bits of paper as I go so that I can gift it to a friend afterward, kinda fun not gonna lie.

It’s interesting delving back into a book I haven’t read for so long— especially this one in particular. We Were Liars is just such a distinct story, I remember things really well though it’s been a while.

Excited to read this, a friend also got a copy because I kept saying how hyped I was for it! So,, possible buddy read 👀

I have had quite the influx of books recently but I pre-ordered this so it’s not completely on me— it came late anyway lol. I don’t think I’ll buy anything more till I read em.

I somehow finished Blood & Honey by Shelby Mahurin today and I have mixed feelings. But tis late and I must sleep first before ranting my thoughts (I also already did to one of my friends anyway lol).

Veryy excited to be starting Beast & Beauty by Soman Chainani tomorrow though! Let’s see if I can finish it before I get my hands on The Ones We’re Meant to Find (which comes out two days from now!! aaaaaaaa)

OH forgot to add that in the middle of it all, I was feeling in the writing mood and decided to revise the outline for vamp7 but couldn’t get it out of my head and wound up writing some more random stuff on a docs.

637 words!

Writing in a notebook when you have ideas is sm. fun. The pen doesn’t move fast enough to keep up but the messy scrawl somehow fits the chaotic vibe of the creative process

On a side note, wrote 8 pages worth in my notebook of just absolute word vomit— fleeting scenes, quotes and idea for this random story idea that popped up in my mind because I was thinking of how annoyed I was with the portrayal of female assassins in YA lol. Celaena grew on me for two seconds but as an assassin I’d put my money elsewhere.

It’s not just that, actually it’s become a lot more than just that, but the possibilities ahhh!

828 words (233 of actual writing writing) today. Dod quite a bit of worldbuilding, I may have also gotten sidetracked and made a spreadsheet and pie chart for the letters I use the most in names.

Anyway as per usual— to reach 20k words with 233/day it’d take about 86 days. And for a novel length, it would take 300 (and a half lol)
