When Felix heard you storming into the apartment without so much as a word of acknowledgement or hello from you as you passed the living room, he knew something went wrong. When he heard the door to your room slam with a noise enough to make him wince, he knew something went terribly wrong. And, remembering why you’d gone out in the first place, all smiles and dressed to impress, he didn’t need great deductive skills to figure out what happened.
“(name)?” He called out as he pushed himself off the couch, walking to the door of your room.
“I’m not in the mood, Felix.” Even through the door, your voice sounded overly muffled and nasally, as if you’d been crying for a while. The idea that you were crying alone in your room, buried under the blankets, only pained him more.
Trying the door again, he frowned when he realized that you’d locked it, “I don’t care if you’re in the mood, (name),” he said patiently while still trying to make his point as firm as he could, “You’re sad and upset, and I just don’t want you to be alone.”
“Well, I want to be alone.”
There was a bite to your voice, a harshness that you never had around him. Felix wondered what had happened to make you so distraught, “Please? I’ll leave you alone once I see you. I just want to make sure you’re okay. Please?”
Silence was his only answer, and Felix was just beginning to think about breaking the door down himself when he heard the lock click, revealing your face, eyes smudged with the light sheen of sparkling eyeshadow he’d helped you apply and tear streaks running down your cheeks. He’d never seen you like this before, so beside yourself, so utterly broken, and Felix’s heart began to crack along with yours.
“Oh, sweetheart…”
At his gentle pet name, the dam broke again and a sob burst from your lips. Felix rushed forward, catching you halfway as you threw yourself into his arms, burying your face in the crook of his neck. He threaded his fingers through your hair, whispering soft nothings to you in hopes of calming you down.
When your sobs slowly turned to sniffles, Felix finally asked, “What did he do?”
The tension in your body immediately returned, “He didn’t do anything,” you muttered pulling away just slightly to wipe your eyes with the back of your hand, “H-he didn’t do anything–”
“Hey, hey, don’t rub your eyes like that while you still have makeup on!” Felix yelped, immediately shoving you back into your room. He quickly sat you down in front of the vanity, grabbing a makeup wipe and slowly helping you take off your once immaculate makeup.
His touch was so gentle, as if he was afraid to hurt you, afraid that you might just shatter in his arms. As your tears continued to fall, he continued to help you, crouched in front of you with his fingers lightly holding your chin as he wiped off the eyeshadow, the blush, the foundation, the mascara with methodical care.
And after three torturous hours, you finally felt safe. You felt safe with Felix, as you always have and always will.
.
“I wasn’t…I wasn’t what he expected.”
Felix’s fingers, which were lightly massaging your scalp as your head lay comfortably in his lap, immediately froze.
“What?” His voice was stiff, and his whole body felt like it had been doused in a bucket of ice water. What did that mean? Surely it couldn’t mean that…you were not enough? No, because that thought was preposterous. You were more than anything anyone in the world deserved. You were kind, you were loving, you were gentle. You put others before yourself, you wanted to make everyone happy.
You were everything that Felix didn’t deserve.
“The moment I stepped into the restaurant and saw him for the first time, I could see it in his eyes,” you continued, feeling it easier to let it all out with your eyes fluttered shut, “Disappointment.”
“But—” Felix struggled to find the right words while stifling the murderous rage growing in his chest, “but he’s seen pictures of you, right? I helped you take those pictures! What do you mean he was disappointed?!”
You couldn’t help but smile bitterly. “Photos aren’t the real thing, I guess. I know I…put on weight these last few weeks.”
Felix felt an unusual desire for violence. He wanted to punch a pillow or strangle a plushie (and apologize when he calmed down, of course). Yes, you did put on some weight these last few weeks, but that was because you’d actually started to take care of yourself after he pleaded with you to eat more than one meal a day. He’d been so proud when you started to eat better, to think of food in a more positive light, that he never once even fathom that someone would consider that as a negative.
“So, that’s it? The date ended like that?”
“Oh, no,” you shook your head, humming as Felix resumed his ministrations on your scalp, “he’s not…he’s not that cruel. We finished the date, but it was pretty obvious that he didn't want to pursue anything else with me.”
Felix only hummed, lightly digging his fingers into your scalp as a melancholic silence filled the room. Some people enjoyed constant advice, someone to offer a helping hand when things go south, but as your roommate and best friend of three years, Felix knew that all you needed was just a safe person to vent to. And he was more than happy to be that person. He’d never tell you, but he’d be more than happy to be any person that you needed.
“I think I’m being melodramatic about it,” you grumbled after the long moment of silence, “All things considered, a date like this could’ve gone so much worse. He could’ve walked out after seeing me. He could’ve been a psychopath.”
“That doesn’t mean that your experience was a good one, (name),” Felix reminded you gently, brushing a strand of hair away from your face, “And can we not set the bar that low, please? I want to be able to send you off on your dates with at least some peace of mind.”
A laugh left your lips and you swatted his hand away, “Don’t worry, the line is drawn at psychopaths.”
“Before psychopaths.”
“Alright, alright. Before psychopaths,” you repeated emphatically, just to make a point. Felix only chuckled and shook his head with obvious fondness. What was he going to do with you?
After a while, the moment of cheerfulness faded again, and you sighed, stretching your limbs as you starfished yourself onto your comfortable couch and on top of Felix, “I know this was hardly the worst date in the world, and not even the worst one that I’ve had, but it just hurt this time, you know? It was the first time I knew for certain that someone liked me for me. It was the first time that our conversations were so exciting over text that I just couldn’t wait to meet them in person. For a few moments, I even thought like…this was the one.”
You closed your eyes, relishing Felix’s comforting warmth and presence. It made things better somehow. He always made this better. When Felix was there, running his fingers through your hair and picking up any of the broken pieces of your heart, you always felt better, safer. One might even say that you felt loved.
But Felix didn’t love you. You were objectively a good person, and you did believe in karma, but Felix loving you was a fortune you couldn’t afford to even dream of.
“I just wish—you know—that I was sexually attractive to someone,” you snickered rather dryly, “Not to everyone or even a lot of people, but just like…one. I just want to be wanted by someone.”
“I want you.”
The words bounced off your ears; you didn’t need an expert to know that Felix was trying to comfort you in whatever way he knew how. “Very funny, Lixie.”
Felix swallowed, his self control waning with every word leaving your mouth. He was getting dangerously close to confessing, something he swore not to do. He couldn’t ruin what you two have, he  shouldn’t ruin what you two have, he—
“I do want you.”
Your eyes opened, and a flash of tired annoyance passed your face, “Look, I appreciate it, I really do, but I’m really not in the mood for—”
“I’m not talking about sex,” Felix interrupted you before gulping, the rush of self confidence fleeting and now almost completely gone, “I-I mean, I’d love to have sex with you—but only if you want! And—um—only if you’re comfortable with me l-like that, of course…” his voice trailed off, and he half expected you to interrupt his actually pathetic attempt of a confession, but you didn’t.
“B-but I didn’t mean sex. I just want you. I want to know more about you than I already do. I want to know you as more than a friend. I want to know what type of dates you like. I want to know what makes your heart flutter. I want to know if you like eskimo kisses before leaving work. I want to you if your a big spoon or a little spoon–”
“I’m a big spoon and you fucking know it, Lix.”
“Stop interrupting!” Felix complained, his cheeks burning as he flicked your forehead, “But…yeah. I know this is an awkward time for all this, but I just want you to know that someone in this world does want you. You don’t have to answer or…do anything, but just know that I love you, okay?”
At this point, your eyes were as wide as saucers, your heart stuttering and fluttering within the cage of your ribs. “You—you love me?” You repeated, a rather poorly crafted statement on your end after Felix had poured his heart out in his confession.
But, as he always was, Felix was patient, never angry, never harsh, “I do, (name),” he smiled as you sat up, “I love you so very much.”
“Since when?” How could you have missed it? How could you have convinced yourself that his affections were nothing more than platonic? Were you that clueless?
“Hmm, maybe a year ago? A year and a half?” Felix shrugged. The weight of his secret had lifted, and he didn’t feel as stressed out anymore. “I can’t really remember. I’ve honestly been so used to loving you that I can’t remember when I didn’t.”
Shit, you could hear your heart pounding as the blood rushed to your cheeks. “I never thought—I never thought that you—”
“Hey, hey,” Felix cupped your cheeks with a fond smile, “What did I say, huh? I don’t need anything from you. Just take it as a sign to keep your chin up, okay? Don’t burden yourself with the guilt of hurting me. You’d never hurt me.”
But he’s got it all wrong. He’s got it all wrong, and all you need to do was open your damn mouth to tell him so.
“I never thought you could love me the way I’ve loved you!”
There was definitely a better way of wording that, but the words had burst from your lips before you could control them.
Felix’s jaw went slack, and his fingers stilled against your cheeks, “You…what?” He asked, as if he couldn’t believe exactly what he was hearing.
“I’m in love with you. I’ve always been in love with you,” you laughed at the sheer ridiculousness as you sat on your legs, smiling at him, “But I’ve always told myself that we weren’t meant to be, that I was reading everything wrong, that I wasn’t enough for you.”
The stunned look on Felix’s face was an image you’ll treasure for a lifetime. It was gone as soon as it came, though, and a disbelieving scoff replaced it, “I asked you to move in with me and it still didn’t register?”
“You know I’m a little slow with these things,” you said with a sheepish shrug.
“I know,” Felix chuckled, and with an unexpected amount of boldness, he leaned forward, a playful gleam in his eyes. The tide had changed, and he was now on the offensive, more than happy to express the extent of his affections towards you, “But I think it’s cute.”
Heat rose up to your cheeks as you averted your gaze, “Fuck you.”
“I would very much like you to, but we’ll go at whatever pace you want, sweetheart.”
You hurled a pillow at him as he burst into laughter, happily defending himself before pulling you down onto his chest, patting your head as if placating an angry kitten, “I know, I know. I love you, too.”
Huffing, you couldn’t fight the telltale flush of your cheeks and the pounding of your heart. Felix’s heart was pounding similarly, you noticed as you rested your head on his chest. Not for the first time, you felt safe in Felix’s arms, breathing in his comforting scent as he enveloped you in his magical warmth.
But for the first time, you completed the happy moment by leaning up and pressing your lips to his.

“This place is smaller than I remembered.”
“Maybe it’s cause we’re bigger than we were back then.”
“We’re…? Or just me?”
“You’re definitely more annoying.”
Hyunjin let out a laugh, nudging your side playfully as he took another sip of his drink. The two of you had a great view of the chaos ensuing in the auditorium; Chan was trying to make sure Jisung and Changbin didn’t play his old Soundcloud songs on the speaker, Seungmin and Jeongin were sitting at one of the tables, sharing stories about their new families, all while Felix and Minho were burning it up in the middle of the dance floor.
“Isn’t it nice to see everyone again?” He let out a sigh of contentment, obviously enjoying the sight as much as you were.
You nodded in wholehearted agreement, “It’s crazy seeing everyone together again. Really have to give it to Lia for making this whole high school reunion crap possible.”
Hyunjin chuckled, “As expected of our class president.” A moment of comfortable silence passed before Hyunjin asked, “Did you keep up with anyone?”
“Oh, you know me,” you shrugged, “I did my best, but I was never great at communicating online. I did meet up with Seungmin and Minho a couple of times cause our colleges were close, but that was it.”
“Ah.” Hyunjin’s tone of voice caught you a little off guard. It wasn’t angry or bitter, per say, but it was definitely sad, like he’d come to a realization that he’d spent a lot of time running away from. But before you had any time to speculate the reason as to why he sounded so lost, his next question, quiet and full of caution, gave all the answers.
“Why didn’t you keep up with me?”
It was the question that a part of you was expecting the moment you heard Hyunjin call out your name at the drink stand. It was the question that you'd spent sleepless nights thinking about, staring at the ceiling of your dorm, thinking about the boy you once loved, the boy who was slowly fading into your past.
However, after mulling over the question for so long, you began to realize that the reason you couldn't find the answer was simply because you didn't want to. Because the truth was more painful than pretending to be oblivious.
“In the beginning, it hurt to even think about you.”
Hyunjin winced ever so slightly at your words, hiding it by sipping his drink, but both of you knew that if you couldn't be honest to each other now, after the years have allowed many of the deep wounds to heal, then there wasn't any hope of reconciliation.
“I was furious, you know. Hurt, then angry. I was angry for a long time,” you chuckled at the memory, watching a figment of your past self storming out of the auditorium in your pretty lilac dress, tears streaming down your face, “Now that I think about it, I don't know if I was angry at you for blowing me off or me for being so naive.”
“For what it's worth, I'm sorry,” Hyunjin said, looking at you with those deep brown eyes that used to make your heart flutter. “I'm sorry for a lot of things, especially in senior year when I--”
“Please, don't apologize,” you interrupted, shifting to face him directly, the sharp edges around yourself slowly beginning to chip away the more the two of you spoke. It felt good, like pulling out a splinter.
“You made your mistakes, and I made mine. You could've cared a little more about how much you were neglecting me, and I could've been more considerate of your dedication to your passions.”
Hyunjin pouted, the way he used to when he couldn't win arguments against you, “Still,” he mumbled, shoving his hands into his pants pockets and looking down shamefully, “it was prom.”
“Indeed it was,” you mused. If anything, looking back at the situation allowed you the capacity to make light of it.
“You must've been so hurt.”
“Indeed I was,” you agreed, laughing slightly, “It was truly something straight out of a drama. The tears, the mascara. I was robbed of an Oscar, truly.”
“(name),” Hyunjin’s whine only made you giggle harder, which only made his pout deeper, “how can you joke about this?”
You tried your best to stifle your laughter for his sake, “Oh, Hyunjin, it's been years. So many things have happened since then. I'm not going to hold on to the one night I got stood up in high school. The real question is...why are you still holding onto it?”
Hyunjin’s expression showed true distress, which touched you, “Because I hurt you! I know it's now just one night of many from our days in high school, but it was a night that you were so looking forward to,” he gulped, trying not to make a fool out of himself at this reunion and, most importantly, in front of you. “My mind kept repeating it. The times when I told myself that I was going to make prom the most special night for you. The times I dreamed of how perfect our dance was going to be. Then, I let applications and auditions get to my head, and I—I took you for granted.”
Despite how prepared you were to face Hyunjin at the reunion party, you couldn't deny that such a confession of guilt stunned you, so much so that you couldn't even formulate sentences for a few moments.
“I didn't know you felt so strongly about it.”
“That’s the other thing,” Hyunjin said solemnly, determined to get everything off his chest, to tell you everything that he'd gotten the chance to tell you only in his dreams, “By the end of high school, I had gotten so neglectful of our relationship that you didn't even believe I'd care about hurting you. You, who were my best friend even before we started dating. And for that, I'm sorry.”
You stared at him, slightly awestruck, before you let out a sigh, “You’re not the only one that has things to be sorry for. I was never as supportive of your dreams to go to a dance school as I should've been. I got irritable, possessive, and insecure even when you gave me no reason to be. You were already so stressed going into the last year, and when I should've been by your side, supporting you the way any best friend should, I'm sure I made things worse. For that, I’m sorry.”
Moments of silence passed, each one more comfortable than the previous, and gradually, the burden of guilt that the two of you were carrying individually became shared, and—in some way—weightless to the both of you. A slate wiped clean, a brand new palette to begin your friendship anew.
“So...does this mean my Facetime privileges are reinstated?”
“Only if you don't abuse them,” you grinned wryly, both of you knowing that he absolutely will, just like you'll probably end up doing as well, “I'm a very busy woman.”
“So I've heard, Miss ‘I'm graduating from university early and going to law school.’” Hyunjin teased, wiggling his eyebrows in a playful gesture.
You only crossed your arms, “I don't know if you should be talking, Mr. ‘I’m one of the most sought after choreographers in Seoul.’”
“That’s not true!”
“From the stories I’ve gathered from Seungmin, Minho, and everyone else that I’ve caught up with here, I would say my statement has some sort of merit.”
“Fine! Fine,” Hyunjin laughed as he threw his arms up in resignation. Glancing at you by his side, his smile only grew as he gave your shoulder a nudge, “We’ve done well, both of us.”
You nodded, and taking his olive branch wholeheartedly, you leaned your head against his arm, a small but poignant gesture as you slowly allowed Hyunjin back into your personal space. Above your head and unbeknownst to you, the expression on Hyunjin’s face as he gauged your movements would make even the most stone cold individual melt.
“It was fun. Stressful, exhausting, but still one of the best times of my life,” you nuzzled your head against his arm as you added softly, “It would’ve been the best if you were there.”
Shit. Hyunjin’s heart hammered relentlessly and his whole face grew hot as you spoke. It took every ounce of practiced self control not to squeal and flop around like a crazed dolphin. Even back in high school, you were never very comfortable with verbally sharing how you felt unless you knew you were in a space of absolute security. Hearing you admit something so vulnerable to him and just to him meant that, above all, he was still a safe space for you after all this time.
“I agree,” he mumbled, resting his cheek against the top of your head as he fiddled with his cup, now empty. “I was accomplishing things, and life was good, but it would’ve been infinitely better with you in it still.”
“Oi! What are you to lovebirds hiding out in the back for?!” A voice pulled both of your attentions away from each other as Changbin approached the little corner in which the two of you were sitting, “Come and dance with us!”
“We’ll be there in a second!” Hyunjin called back, shaking his head in fond exasperation as the two of you watched Changbin barrel into the dance circle once again, all smiles and uproarious laughter. “He’s never this hyper.”
You laughed, pushing yourself up onto the table behind you, “He’s excited to see everyone again,” a soft hum left your lips, and you glanced at Hyunjin, your heart shedding its walls just at the sight of him, “You should join them. Can’t have our dance prodigy absent on the dance floor.”
“Oh, hush,” Hyunjin nudged your side again shyly, wringing his hands before shaking his head, “I’ll go in a sec, I just—um—there’s something I want to do first.”
A weird emotion stirred in your chest, “Then you best get to it, then. What are you doing, still dilly dawdling around here with me?” you laughed, playing with your fingers as your legs swung around off the edge of the table. “The night's going to end soon.”
“It’s not that easy, though.”
“You're at a high school reunion,” you snorted, “If things go south, you don't have to see any of these people for the next ten years, or until Lia organizes another get together. If there's something you want to do, there's no time like the present.”
Hyunjin sucked in a breath, his heart pounding audibly as he finally decided to throw caution to the wind. “You’re right, as always.”
“I know,” you retorted with a smug smile.
“Then, (name), would you give me the honor of dancing with you tonight?”
Every emotion that you felt could be seen clearly on your face. Confusion, then shock, and then flustered indignation. Hyunjin wished he could’ve taken a picture, but for now, only his eyes would bear witness to your reaction.
“You—” Words failed you for a moment before you choked out a laugh, trying to ignore how hot your face was feeling, “You ass! Did you plan all this?”
Hyunjin laughed, feeling lighter than he had in ages, “Not exactly. I didn’t know how our reunion would turn out, after all,” his expression softened, shifting into something more wistful and fond as he stood before you, extending his hand out for you to take.
“But if things went well, I always dreamed for a chance to dance with you. Do things right this time around, if you’ll have me, of course.”
Judging from the tone of his voice, laced with love and adoration that can only exist after years of familiarity, you had a feeling he wasn’t just talking about prom.
The two of you had known each other since before either of you were fully people at all. You’d seen Hyunjin when he fell face first into a puddle of mud because he didn’t heed your warnings. He’d seen you bawl your eyes out for hours over a grammar test after realizing you got one question wrong. You were his first girlfriend, and he was your first kiss. He was your first love and you were his.
The last time the two of you stood in that very auditorium, nothing but harsh and volatile words were exchanged. The way things ended was far from pretty. Hyunjin wasn’t perfect, and neither were you.
But time has truly healed your wounds, and maybe, your love for each other would be strong enough to try again.
“Only if you don’t get upset when I step on your feet,” you smiled, slipping your hand in his.
Hyunjin could hardly comprehend the elation he felt as he guided you to the dance floor. Humming softly to the music, his arm wrapped around your waist and he leaned his forehead against yours. “If it means being with you, you could stand on my feet for all I care.”

update!
so yes, i fell off the radar again 😭 my biggest biggest apologies! uni kicked my ass hard, and i hit a serious writer’s block as well. im doing my best to come back slowly, though, and start posting fics again. first order of business tho:
a masterlist will be posted very, very soon! it’s quite small right now, but lots of people requested it, so i compiled all the fics i have here into one cohesive list!
hope everyone is having a happy new year! stay safe, and thank you for all the love i’ve been receiving on my fics during my impromptu hiatus. <3 love y’all!

[𝙙𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙢 𝙛𝙞𝙡𝙚 𝙩𝙮𝙥𝙚: 𝙨𝙘𝙚𝙣𝙖𝙧𝙞𝙤𝙨] 𝘴𝘵𝘳𝘢𝘺 𝘬𝘪𝘥𝘴 + 𝘧𝘳𝘪𝘦𝘯𝘥 𝘥𝘶𝘰𝘴 | 𝘳𝘦𝘲𝘶𝘦𝘴𝘵𝘦𝘥
Tumblr media
bang chan
i think chan would want to have a friend that is more of an initiator and someone who likes to take the lead! we all know he's a little bit of a workaholic (just a little, ya know), and workaholics tend to lose sight of the people and the world around them. so, people like chan really rely on friends who aren't shy about hitting him up twice when he didn't reply the first time, people who understand his flakiness. especially since he's known as the leader for so many things, i think he'd like to stick with a friend that can naturally assume that role in their relationship so it becomes less of a burden for him to be around them.
lee minho
minho would absolutely cling onto someone that is snarky but allows him to be soft around them too. minho, like chan, gives off very natural caretaker vibes, but it's much more subtle with minho and more something that he does without much effort or care. it feels like a reflex for him to casually make you a cup of tea because he noticed you were thirsty or offer his arm for you to lean against if you get sleepy in the car. on the other hand, though, minho needs someone that’s got some claws on them. after all, its not fun to tease someone who doesn’t tease back. he’s all for the witty banter and playful jabs. for him, i think it’s all about having a good time, whether that’s throwing snarky comments at each other, or brewing tea for the other person when they’re feeling down.
seo changbin
in my opinion, changbin would gravitate towards more adventurous people, since he himself is more of a stabilizing personality (esp. seen in the group hehe). changbin is drawn towards people who take risks, do things that might end up getting them in trouble, but live through their experiences. he’s the type of person that you’d have to *drag* to get milkshakes at 3am, but the type of person that would be waiting for you to drag them out at 3am ya know?? he’s all for deep talks late at night while parked on a cliff and enjoying the stars. also bcs he’s such a stable and reliable person (something he obviously takes pride in as well) his heart would love someone who leans to him for support. he feels good taking care of others, and so he’d ultimately adore someone who would allow him to do that while also pushing his limits and making him experience things he wouldn’t by himself
hwang hyunjin
opposite to changbin, hyunjin loves stability. hyunjin would absolutely be all over a friend that is just always there for him, someone who he can turn to when he’s feeling hurt, scared, or insecure. but at the same time, i think hyunjin would love being with someone that’s similar to him in personality and ambition. this doesn’t mean that he wants them to dance or sing or be an idol, but rather someone who is driven towards their own goals and has the work ethic to achieve them. hyunjin is someone that reacts and grows from his surroundings, so i think him having a friend that indirectly challenges him to always improve and always attempt to be a better version of himself would be something he’d crave. at the end of the day, i think hyunjin would just want a friend that understood him, that understood why he was working so hard and why he was trying so hard, someone he could rely on to be the voice of reason while also inspiring him to keep on going.
han jisung
oh han jisung. this is a bit cheesy and plays more to my poor minsung heart, but i genuinely believe that jisung gravitates towards a friend that is just like minho. jisung’s a sensitive soul, much like hyunjin. he’s the type of person to create a persona that’s bigger than life, but a persona that’s ridiculously easy to pop. he’s the type to flirt endlessly with someone and then freak out when the person flirts back. he’s adorable, and bcs he’s so sensitive, he would gravitate towards someone who’s strong and unabashedly themselves, someone that doesn’t bend towards anyone’s will except their own.
lee felix
cuddlebugs gravitate to other cuddlebugs, and lix is no different. felix loves a friend that gives him physical affection and just attention in the spades. he loves being cared for, and he loves reciprocating it. i feel like felix is also the type of person that loves to do various things with their friend! he’d love to play games with them, like play in a party together or maybe co-op on genshin to farm for artifacts (hehe). maybe the activity is baking together or cooking a new dish! whatever it is, felix would love someone who ‘s down to spend time with him and share their new experiences with him too!
kim seungmin
seungmo and jeongin honestly stumped me a bit bcs i don’t think i have as good of a read on them, but i think that seungmin would love a friend that he knows will always be there for him, but also gives him his own space to grow and be his own person, ya know? seungmin feels like a person that values his own quiet time, so he probably gravitate towards someone who also values their own free time, someone more independent. but at the same time, he wants the feeling of knowing that they’d be there if he needed him, just like he’d drop everything for them if they were having a tough time. he’s the type of friend that would enjoy quite study sessions, sharing music while doing their own private work, anything that is more low stress and laid-back!
yang jeongin
similar to seungmin, i think jeongin would like someone that’s independent and has a strong mind of their own. because he’s so use to being doted on, i feel like jeongin would enjoy someone that would allow him to be the one that does a bit of the chasing. jeongin would be the type that’s becomes a bit enamored by the friend he wants to be really close with, sort of a friend crush per-say?? he’d find something that he genuinely and deeply admires about them and it would push him to gravitate towards them. i think he’d enjoy being challenged in an experience type of way, like being dragged to do new things or learn new skills with his friend <3

Well I just wanted to ask you, what sort of friends do you think the members would have? Like you know how there are those inseperable duos? So what would the other person of each of their inseperable duos be like and what would they do together? (Since this is platonic, gender neutral would be the most comfy but do whatever you would like ^_^)
hi! so sorry for the late response uni is kinda kicking my ass ahh >.< i really loved this ask so i turned it into more of a formal scenario response! i hope that's alright! <3

prologue.
“You know I despise you, right?”
“Oh, despise. Such a big word, baby,” Minho drawled with an obnoxious smirk, the one that simultaneously made you want to rip his hair out and kiss those perfectly delectable lips of his, “If it’s any consolation, I abhor your presence as well.”
“Wonderful,” you crossed your legs, a smile creeping onto your face as you leaned backward in your chair, “So why exactly are you here?”
Minho laughed, “The same reason I presume that you’re here for. A hundred dollars to put up with you is a tempting offer.”

“Ah, petal! There you are!”
You stopped on your heel, sucking in a breath before turning to face the tall, dark haired man with a polite smile.
“Good morning, Hyunjin.”
The young prince of Levanter, who happened to be your betrothed and soon-to-be-husband, smiled, looking at you in a way that would send any person’s heart into overdrive, “The love of my life, queen of my heart, how are you this morning?”
“What do you want?” You asked, lips quirking up into a neutral smile even as your face fought the urge to twitch.
Hyunjin pouted, deflating just a bit when you didn’t seem to play along, “Is everything alright, (name)?” He asked, his expression wrought with concern. “Has something happened?”
Leave it to Hyunjin to be perceptive in the very moments that you did not want him to be. “Nothing’s happened, Hyunjin. I am just a bit busy with planning a couple of foreign trips with my kingdom’s naval allies,” you explained yourself, hoping to ease his worries, “Now, is there something I can help you with?”
The prince still didn’t seem convinced, but he didn’t push, “Why do I have to have a reason to see you?”
“Please,” you let out a genuine chuckle this time, brushing a strand of your hair behind your ear, “I’ve known you since we were children. I know your tells probably more than you know them yourself.”
“Oh,” his ears turned slightly pink, “I…I didn’t know you actually paid that much attention to me.”
“You were my betrothed from the moment the two of us started walking,” you replied, looking up at him with those unreadable yet kind eyes, “It’s my duty to know you and your heart for us to have a fulfilling and passionate marriage.”
Hyunjin stared at you for a moment before bursting into uproarious laughter, “Oh, gosh. I remember when our mothers sat us down to tell us that. Good one, (name)!”
You smiled along, despite the fact that your heart was slowly withering inside. How quickly he was to dismiss your words, how unbelievably clueless he was. “Alright, I won’t jest anymore. What is it I can do for you?”
“Oh!” Hyunjin’s smile widened,  his eyes began to sparkle with a passionate glee that wasn’t present before, and with a sinking pit in your stomach, you knew what he was about to ask of you before the words even left his lips, “Naeun told me that she has a free afternoon today, and I wanted to escort her to the lake for a late lunch! You know, the lake we found as kids?”
This time, it took every ounce of willpower to hide the physical pain his words inflicted upon you. To know that Hyunjin was set to marry you when you were not in his heart even in the slightest was something you could shoulder. To know that Hyunjin was in love with another, a servant girl in your own palace, was something you could shoulder. To willingly give him your blessing to court her and be complicit in hiding their relationship to make him happy was something you could shoulder.
But the lake was sacred to you. The little nook with the most beautiful view that you and Hyunjin found when the two of you were children, playing around because your families wanted you to know each other better. The two of you adored that spot so much, you’d fashion your own secret hideout there every time you reunited, bringing blankets, pillows, and food straight from the kitchens to eat while enjoying the view.
That little lake was the only thing you shared with Hyunjin, something that was special to only the both of you. At least, that was the case until this very moment.
“You know, this isn’t a secret that we share with just anyone,” your tone was jesting and playful, but your words held a bitter tang to them. You just couldn’t help yourself. You weren’t a saint, after all.
Hyunjin pouted, placing a passionate hand to his heart, “I haven’t shown our spot to anyone before, I promise! I know it means a lot to you and us, so I wanted to get your permission first!”
Oh, how desperately you wanted to say no. How desperately you wanted to scream, cry, throw a fuss about how cruel this was to you, how unfairly you were being treated. But you knew, in the deepest crevices of your heart, that this was your own undoing. You lied to Hyunjin when you said that you felt nothing for him just like he felt nothing for you. You lied to yourself when you assured him that you would happily give your blessing to his clandestine relationship. In the end, you told so many lies that you yourself didn’t even know how to unravel them anymore, gradually strangling yourself until you were a lifeless corpse in your own web.
“Fine, I guess an exception can be made.”
As masochistic as it was, the smile Hyunjin gave you made the pain he inflicted upon you tolerable. “Really?! You truly mean it?”
Words failed you at the very moment, so all you could do was nod your head and silently plead for a quick escape.
In an unusual moment of affection, Hyunjin suddenly leaned towards you, clasping both of your hands in his and holding them tightly. You clamped your mouth shut to prevent your heart from leaping out, and your eyes were wide with a mixture of surprise and fear.
“Look, (name),” he said with an unusually serious expression, “I just wanted to thank you…for everything you’ve done these last few months. I know that, if it weren’t for you, I wouldn’t have been able to attain such happiness with our situation.”
No, stop. Please. Please don’t thank me.
But as always, Hyunjin remained oblivious to your true feelings, “Neither of us asked for it, least of all you, and please know that if you ever find love, I’ll support your relationship wholeheartedly as you supported mine.”
Fuck, you were truly at your breaking point. How could he say such things with such an earnest expression? Did he truly not know your feelings for him? Were you so far away from his mind that he never read into your longing glances, your kind demeanor towards him and only him?
Mustering the strength you didn’t know you possessed, you managed a smile, squeezing his hand, “I doubt I’d ever find a prince worthy of my love,” your words were haughty, teasing, a perfect deflection.
Hyunjin smiled brightly, “Somehow, I believe that to be true,” he said with a conspiratorial smile before he let go of your hands and backed away from you, “I must find Naeun now. Thank you, my darling!”
It wasn’t until you were in the safety of your private study that you finally shed your mask,  and the tears of frustration, anger, and hurt flowed down your cheeks. You grasped the corner of your desk so tightly that the edge dug into your palm, but you welcomed the pain wholeheartedly, preferring it over the emotional wounds that continued to bleed out.
Your mother once told you that a loveless marriage was the most painful thing of all for a royal, but she was wrong. There was nothing more painful than a marriage that possessed love, but only enough to fill the heart of one.
