I am absolutely thrilled with the entirety of The Tortured Poets Department anthology. It's 31 songs of absolute perfection - where even the songs with the most bop-worthy beats have lyrics so deep and meaningful to Taylor's life and journey.

This album is written by Taylor for Taylor. She's said it time and time again since the announcement - she wrote this because she felt like she had to, for herself. She needed to get these words, thoughts, and feelings out of her and onto the page, and if she just so happens to share that with the world when it's finished then all the better. But this isn't for us, this is for her, to find closure and a sense of coming to terms with her past and being able to move on from it.

I do the same thing with writing. Putting things down into words often helps me process my emotions, but it also helps me feel like they're done, more than just thinking of them over and over and allowing them to stew internally. I get the drive of these songs on such a deep level that it's impossible for me not to appreciate this masterpiece for everything that it is and everything it symbolizes.

It isn't going to be everyone's cup of tea. I've seen people dislike the complexity of the lyrics, I've seen hate on the 'excessive' metaphors, or the fact that the sound isn't 'her best'. All of that, in my opinion, is absolutely absurd. It's the sound of who she is and what she wants right now. it's an evolution of everything - there isn't a single bit of her old music I don't here in various lyrics or sounds of this new album, from Debut straight through Midnights.

I think it's her most honest and telling album - it isn't always pretty, but it's always truthful, at least to the version of the truth that Taylor lived and knew.

I obviously never want to stop getting new Taylor content, but especially after hearing so much about how harsh the entertainment world has been to her psyche, if this is the last new thing we get from her outside of the last two re-records, I think it'd be the perfect closing notes to over a decade of creativity I'll be forever grateful for.

Slow realization and soft oh moment

Passion ignited after a tragedy/terrifying close call

They're both single (this is v important guys.)

Eddie's in action, doing something really cool, really dangerous, and really fun (like scaling a skyscraper... 👀) and he pulls Buck into his scheme because it might not need to be a two-person job, but it's them and they go together.

It's the elevator scene from 2x3 but years later, and the parallels are obvious and important.

They hatch a plan together, with barely any outward communication, just inherently knowing what the other's next move is going to be. I want them just living for the adrenaline rush of propelling down eight stories attached to each other and each other alone. I want them so close to danger so quickly that neither really comprehends how close they were to losing it all. (It's just typical at this point.)

I want them to topple onto the ground together in almost hysterical laughter, checking each other for injury even though they're both fine. I want them to realize that life could be like this for the rest of their lives. They don't have to keep searching for something when it's right in front of them.

Then they kiss like it's second nature, through wide lips and bared teeth and gear that makes it impossible for them to do more than just press their lips together over and over like they've done this a thousand times before.

Knowing that they might have constant close calls like this one that might result in much worse than a tear in their turnouts, but they have each other, so what does it really matter?

They're just. Happy. Happy despite everything they've gone through, despite every moment they suffered to get to this exact moment--grinning in a close-to-collapsing building, trusting each other implicitly, and fearing only the distant possibility they might never have gotten here.

I want them to realize that they pieces of themselves they've been looking for their entire adult lives have been right in front of them since the very beginning. I just think they deserve that.

There's so much to unpack in such a short teaser. The Victorian mourning dress and the way it looks so similar to the dresses the backup dancers wear during My Tears Ricochet on tour. "Dear reader, burn all the files" clearly referenced. The switch from the wedding gown to this.

Fortnight featuring @postmalone 🤍 I’ve been such a huge fan of Post because of the writer he is, his musical experimentation and those melodies he creates that just stick in your head forever.
