I kinda wanted to go find some woods to get lost in - still do but im home alone and dunno where woods are from here and :x I don't want to interact w ppl on the way. Or while I'm there. I wanna tuck Dr Puppy into my backpack (cute, got it last weekend, it has a pup on it) find where some tree roots make a lil spot to sit, squeeze him against me, and pass out.

I vote low cuz it was specifically in the context of "I downplay things so much that the moment I stop feeling it, my brain is already trying to clean up how I describe/remember it bc it knows I can't just ACTUALLY say the thing or ppl will like me even less."

But it was also me describing ideation in brief, while removing the "oh it was just like, take extra kpin/do dxm/get fucked up" half-truth filter I had said b4. I somehow only realized a couple months ago that I had been masking so hard to myself and my therapist that it was basically making therapy a social interaction? been trying to do that less and doing rough rn so.

Watching a new gauge in an RPG show up and fill to full at the like, 3rd phase of a boss fight? Rad as hell.

Also, super meters that actually power u up are so much better than "big cutscene button". I kinda can't wait for (and am kinda terrified of) seeing what this feels like lategame.

Game makers: make your characters faster, and game harder. It kinda just works and feels fuckin great when you get it right.

This is minor, but in 999 why the fuck do the characters vote by choosing a door, and not "what are our options for combos?" and work from there?

Like there's at least a couple times where the group individually blind vote what doors they want even tho there are only specific combos of people that will even work! The game even has a calculator with a dedicated digital root button, but you can't access it during decisions (and I barely needed it elsewhere).

I still think the game is good! this just kinda felt like a weird choice with how much focus is put on them. I also feel like they seem to figure out the digital roots and combos really quickly in their heads a lot of the time, but that's probably just me showing my mental math isn't great.

So I played Zero Escape: Virtue's Last Reward wayyy before 999 (which I finished last week) and in 999 I was surprised you don't really see anyone mention or mess with any disconnected bracelets until you're pretty far in.

Turns out I was expecting it to matter more partly cuz in VLR (which I'm now replaying), Zero III brings up the bracelets being usable after death immediately after the first Ally/Betray vote. Not just that they drop off but explicitly that they can still be used for door scanners.

I spent like all 999 like "Ok well now that we learned in another route that you can pick up bracelets, that'll be one of the branches I can go down now right?" but nope.

IDK I feel like if I were in a death game where bracelets mattered a lot and everyone's was unique, and they explicitly are noted to remove themselves on death? I'd latch onto that quickly as "These might be kinda important". Otherwise, why not just have them release with a key when the game is over and it's body cleanup time?

Anyway 999 and Virtue's Last Reward are good. Go play Zero Escape: The Nonary Games if you haven't. Neat VN, cool way of handling paths, with pretty good room escape puzzles between story segments. For 999 in particular, a scratchpad for solving digital root combinations might be helpful.
