Researching the history of Baltimore and Washington D.C. in the 1980s to ensure my Vampire the Requiem chronicle is historically accurate and reflects the concerns of the time.
Shockingly little interest from players in focusing on the economic downturn and recession of the era though. People seem more excited by Hunters and whispers of a secret Monster?
Guess there's no accounting for taste.

now I've done all my player characters, I'm considering doing an experimental slot for this style, let me know if you are interested! Would be around £85 for the experimental version. (doesn't have to be World of Darkness fjdjdj, can do furry)

Owain!! With two exclamation marks
Tumblr media
Wandering mystery play actor and adoptive son of the ever exhausted Hunnydd, Owain is still getting used to this whole Cainite thing. He’d much rather be messing around in wheat fields and laying in sunbeams, but that’s a thing of the past now.
He didn’t get much time with his sire or clan, so he’s still learning his place in destiny and helping everyone else fulfil theirs. One such person is his new player-appointed ghoul Marco, childhood friend to Leo who desperately wanted vitae to protect against the Black Death. In the meantime, I fell head over heels for Emir’s (former) ghoul Aethelfrid. Well, the newly-embraced Malkavian agreed to leave town with him and now the pair are in charge of the troupe in Hunnydd’s absence. I’m sure it’ll be fine.

Æthelfrid
Tumblr media
The newest Malkavian in town-- oh wait now he's left. The childe of Emir (played by @urbanknightart) who sadly shaved off his scrunkly facial hair before embrace.
Æth was a local monk training at one of Oxford's many monasteries before meeting the slightly odd priest from Constantinople. Through trials and tribulations, he decided to sacrifice his eternal soul to spend unlife spreading the good word. The fact he gets to go travelling with his boyfriend is just a bonus. But hey, what's more hypocritical than a Catholic cainite?
Æth wears the Augustinian monks garb.

reading the VtM (revised) guide to the low clans I'm really enjoying the alternate mythologies for clan progenitors. Will make a master post once I'm done summarising them because some of these are wild

Something that bothers me greatly with the analysis I've seen of Laios and Toshiro's argument is people will try to say it's a great example of when neurodivergent people come up against the unspoken standards of neurotypical people. First of all, there are plenty of textual moments with Toshiro that do read as neurodivergent to me and it cheapens his character to put him in that role so he seems more antagonistic. But more importantly it just fundamentally seems to miss the fact that neurodivergent people don't just fail to understand neurotypical people, but each other, all of the time. We often have competing needs and opposing difficulties with social situations. Neurodivergent people don't inherently understand each other, even if it can be easier. It's very common for the situation between Laios and Toshiro to happen. It's frustrating to not be told what you should be doing in a social situation and invest yourself in a friendship that isn't mutual. But it's equally neurodivergent to struggle to communicate discomfort and set up boundaries. I know I've personally been in plenty of situations where anxiety and fear of rejection have made me stay silent even if the person I'm speaking to would have appreciated being told what's wrong. Toshiro and Laios aren't clashing because one is neurotypical, but because they have clashing values and needs.

Hengist
Tumblr media
Former mercenary turned Sheriff of Oxford (1348), twin to the current Ventrue baron, sworn to his duties with a special interest in keys and locking mechanisms. At least, until recently. There's a new person in town that has him acting unwise •̀ᴗ-
Clothing ramblewise I think Hengist's fashion choices are fairly easy to read: knight wears knight things. He doesn't really have a sense of nice-looking clothes, so while his wardrobe is all to a very high quality, he isn't the one commissioning or deciding it.
For armour he flits between wearing only fabric gambeson-style and additional plate (with chain sections). Man has enough dots in potence that weight isn't really an issue, it's mostly about presenting the appropriate amount of severity.
Mid-14th century armour is absolutely not to my aesthetic tastes haha.

it's a lot of text so I can't share all of it, but I need to summarise some stuff from Players Guide to the Low Clans (VtM revised dark ages) because there is some seriously fun lore in this
