𝙿𝙴𝚃𝙴𝚁 𝚂𝙻𝙰𝙼𝙼𝙴𝙳 𝚃𝙷𝙴 𝚁𝙴𝙲𝙴𝙸𝚅𝙴𝚁 𝙳𝙾𝚆𝙽. the kicks of making a cold caller cry – it was enough to warm anybody’s heart on a wet and windy manhattan morning. he had been reaching for his coffee when he first heard his name. it was instinct to ignore it, seeing as though it usually meant he would have to get up and do some work.

but the voice was female. and he recognised it. not in the way that he recognised janine’s, but in a nostalgic way. his heart must’ve realised who it was before his mind had the chance to catch up.

and then it came to him. his head perked up immediately, his eyes confirming the suspicion. perhaps a little less than a decade earlier, peter couldn’t bring himself to so much as share the same air as this girl. but now – what was this feeling? wistfulness?

❛ missy! ❜ he strode over to her with a confidence that she had once torn down, but nevertheless engulfed her in a hug so affectionate that it seemed nothing had ever happened.

missy nearly screamed, arms looping around peter’s neck, holding him close with her eyes closed and for the briefest of moments, they were back in college, before she turned everything off. the emotions she felt for peter were still real and she breathed in deeply, taking in every second of the hug. 

when peter finally pulled away, she was beaming, cheeks rosy pink from more than just the cold. “hi!” she said again, unable to even tone down her smile, but she didn’t want to. she’d dreamt about this for years.

“you look great! even better than when i caught you on the television!” she said, tucking her hands into her coat pocket, rocking forward onto her toes as excitement simply from just seeing him smile again. part of her wanted to look around, check out the place, but blue eyes that hadn’t been this bright since college couldn’t leave peter’s. 

“guess you’re famous now,” she giggled. “how--how have you been?” she asked carefully, tucking a strand of stray hair behind her ear as her heart pounded dangerously in her chest; did he hurt the way she did? did she crush his heart the way she shattered her own?

the ballad of missy and pete as told by me and @doctorvenko

missy went to columbia university and was in phi alpha delta sorority. she was focusing on pre-law and later graduated and went to law school. she was valedictorian and best in the class all around, but frequently underestimated because she is beautiful. 

missy knows how to play the dumb blonde card to get what she wants, but she rarely uses it. during college, she met peter venkman and the two started dating. she loved the fact that he was goofy, and moreso, that he let her be goofy. he wasn’t off-put by this and she truly loved him.

her sorority sisters, did not. they did not love his friends ray and egon, either. since missy was a “popular” girl, her friends continuously put peter down and insulted her and her choice to date him. they were brutal about it and overtime, missy felt herself questioning if she should stay on the “Miss Perfect” path that she seemed to be on, or if she should follow her heart.

after getting a less than desirable grade on a test she should have aced due to lack of sleep over the whole thing with peter, peter was being his usual self---over the top goofy and a little obnoxious. while it never bothered her, that day it was just hitting every nerve and peter, thinking he was trying to make the situation better, kept pushing her buttons until she yelled for him to stop, loudly, gathering the attention of everyone in the quad. “I CAN’T DO THIS ANYMORE, PETE!” she yelled. “IT’S OVER!!!”

missy ran to her dorm and cried for hours; she was inconsolable. she didn’t mean what she said, but she was too embarrassed to address it. that was the most unperfect behavior she ever displayed. when peter refused to look at her following the incident, she decided that she would no longer go for something real. 

she was miss perfect. she didn’t deserve something real---she didn’t deserve peter venkman.

now, a successful lawyer in new york city, she has one person whom she calls a friend (samantha addams) and she ignores the fact that sam only wants her around when she needs to get out of a ticket or some kind of charge against her.

the bay door to the firehouse was open at ghostbusters, inc. and missy walked in, looking around for anyone. there was no one in the garage that she could see, but their car was there. looking around again, missy called out, “hello? is anyone here?” she was hoping pete would appear, but perhaps one of his friends would recognize her? if they were here, that is...
