ok all my swiftie friends have been hating on ttpd but my hot take is i actually like most of it…. and not just like but slowly becoming obsessed and have most songs on repeat. To clarify i’m vibing most with the first 16… the anthology songs i’m still not sure about … (1830s but without the racism!! i know what she was tryna to say with that line but girlie. That was a miss).

I am 63% of the way through Part 1 of ACOSF on the graphic audio (it's 32% in the full ebook). I just got past the scene where Nesta snaps at Elain and says something along the lines of "You're finally becoming interesting." I don't know if I just don't remember this being mentioned before or if it has genuinely been glossed over in the fandom but... Elain offered to find the dread trove? She just came in and said she'd do it? There was no hesitation from her.

I don't recall hearing about this and I feel like this alone is so telling of her character and her future that surely someone would have pointed it out already. I mostly see people posting about her response to Nesta, calling her sister out, but not about the fact that she said she'd look for the dread trove. Actually, it seems like Elain was determined to track it down before Nesta even stepped into the meeting, based on Feyre's response.

Elain has grown so much since being made. How do people find her boring? She wants to be an active part of the Night Court and the world around her. Better yet, she is not backing down from Nesta's wrath, she is holding her ground. She is not weak just because she is soft. Her willingness to fight, in her own way, tells me of her strength, and of the potential for her to be a main character.

I am so excited for her book, I want to tear my skin off.

azriel flying as blood sprays from his wings - his back and wings shredded - all to rescue elain. cradling her to his chest even after his power went out and is dripping blood. only releasing her when rhys steps up to take her out of his arms and while he is swaying on his feet his only priority is getting the chains off of elain, who has a clean face and clear eyes - completely at odds with az who can barely stand, wings dripping blood, and in desperate need of a healer. yet, he can’t stand the fact that elain is chained, and is immediately ordering, rasping, that someone call helion to get her out of them. and elain, not caring at all about the chains but instead in awe that az would come for her, kisses him on the cheek. just.. gets me so emotional.

TIME magazine knows whats up

You know, regardless of personal preferences and what not, I find the absolute resistance/denial of the idea that Elain's book is could be next pretty nonsensical--especially considering everything Sarah has said in the last few days. Do people not see just how much she highlighted the importance of her *female* leads, and how much of herself she pours into their emotional journeys? Her heroines are a labour of love, and it shows in the way that so many of us love Nesta (&Feyre as well ofc).

The promise Elain holds as a character is insane, and honestly her story is begging to be told; there are so many answers only she can offer us. SJM also has always spoken very fondly of Elain--that interview when she calls her the quiet dreamer; her saying Elain would be her bestie out of all the acotar characters; that bonus acofas interview where she not only says she'd be a florist were she not a writer, but also says she is doing research for our girl's book, and the literal dreams/nightmares Elain would be having.

She is tied to pretty much every major plot point mentioned in acosf... so as for her supposed lack of presence/importance, I'd just like to point out that girlie is literally a walking spoiler. From a purely logistical & narrative standpoint, we have to consider the fact that her visions give us a wealth of information that are pretty essential to the furthering of the plot--the demystification of her powers would fall weirdly were they revealed in, say, the last book of the series. (Plus aren't we all still discussing those she had all the way back in acowar?). Not to mention that her powerS (plural, as we find out in acosf), as well as her being made and her having been capable of wielding Truthteller, make her the perfect character to introduce... well massverse spoilers ig but if you know you know. And let's be real Azriel makes tons of sense as the second MC/PoV in her book considering, well, everything. I've seen many theorize that she has life-related powers (so many possibilities, my fav being her bringing life/light back to the Dusk court... the barren Prison is the third SISTER peak to tackle) and you just know from the way her arc has been set up that her journey will be one of adventure & self-determination as she defies others expectations of her (reader included).

Ouuff rant over. But yea, still not too surprising too see Elain so often disregarded /let out of the conversation given the last few years, and how much some parts of the fandom have decentered her in her own story. Cannot wait for our quiet dreamer's time to shine.

THE BEST PARTS OF SJM’S TODAY SHOW INTERVIEW.

There’s a lot to unpack in this new interview, so I gathered the best crumbs in my opinion to once and for all end the “Azriel book” discussion and elriel crumbs. ;)

This first bit, is the author of the interview describing the romantasy genre, where a girl, a female protagonist is in most cases the center of it.

Then she talks a bit about her next secret project that will come along after ACOTAR5, which once again is confirmed to be next book.

This right now, is the start of what truly gives it away, she starts the topic of “mates” since it’s very present in the entirety of Sarah’s books.

Now we get to the best part truly, as well all know initially Sarah planned for Elain and Lucien at a certain point, since the shippers often use a screenshot of an old 2016ish facebook comment to try to validate their ship, but now that’s over since SJM pretty much made it clear that they don’t have a future.

This part is the cherry on top, with the topic of rejecting mates and “what if the forces that be put you with the wrong person?” and then she proceeds saying there’s a lot to explore within the concept of mates.

And then “explore with this concept of free will and what is true love. is it something that’s destined? or something that you make?”

Last but not least, SJM once again confirming her female protagonists, through love and friendship and world-saving.

I personally wasn’t too thrilled for this interview, I thought I would leave empty handed but it gave me everything I wanted and more! I’m extremely excited about Elain and Azriel’s love story and the announcement of Elain’s book.
