SPE will finance and distribute worldwide with full theatrical windows in 2027. The dating cadence of the films, the details of which will be shared closer to release, will be innovative and groundbreaking.Ā
Mendes will direct all four films and produce alongside his Neal Street Productions partner Pippa Harris and Neal Streetās Julie Pastor.Ā Jeff Jones will executive produce for Apple Corps Ltd.
āIām honoured to be telling the story of the greatest rock band of all time, and excited to challenge the notion of what constitutes a trip to the movies,ā said Sam Mendes.
āWe intend this to be a uniquely thrilling, and epic cinematic experience: four films, told from four different perspectives which tell a single story about the most celebrated band of all time,ā said Pippa Harris. āTo haveĀ The Beatlesā and Apple Corpsā blessing to do this is an immense privilege. From our first meeting with Tom Rothman and Elizabeth Gabler, it was clear that they shared both our passion and ambition for this project, and we canāt think of a more perfect home than Sony Pictures.ā
āApple Corps is delighted to collaborate with Sam, Pippa and Julie to explore each Beatleās unique story and to bring them together in a suitably captivating and innovative way,ā said Apple Corps Ltd. CEO Jeff Jones. āSony Picturesā enthusiastic support, championing the projectās scope and creative vision from the start, has been invaluable for all of us.āĀ
āI know I speak for our CEO Tony Vinciquerra, who was instrumental in making this happen, and every Sony Pictures Motion Picture Group colleague around the world when I say: āyeah, yeah, yeah!āā said Tom Rothman, Chairman and CEO of Sony Picturesā Motion Picture Group. āTheatrical movie events today must be culturally seismic. Samās daring, large-scale idea is that and then some. Pairing his premiere filmmaking team, with the music and the stories of four young men who changed the world, will rock audiences all over the globe. We are deeply grateful to all parties and look forward ourselves to breaking some rules with Samās uniquely artistic vision.ā
Hiya beatlemaniacs, long time no see! Just like many of you, I too have been obsessively been re-watching Get Back to an unhealthy degree, and my hyper fixations (or coping mechanisms lol) usually manifest themselves as quick doodles! and Iāve also been obsessed with @m1ssunderstanding ās Get Back recap posts (theyāre so in-depth and iconique check them out) , and I was wondering if yāall would be interested in seeing daily (or weekly lol) new doodles recapping each days of the documentary? š I have a few already finished but it would be a fun lengthy project for me and Iām excited to potentially experiment with different styles and see how things evolve?
This one is inspired by young Paul McCartney in the early-Beatles period. He was very mocking and spry but sometimesĀ languid and very artistic. So bohemian wow.
Here it is ! My piece for ALL TOGETHER NOW , a riso tribute to the Beatles !

April 3rd?, 1985 (Soho Square, London): Paul talks on German television show Exclusiv about the breakup of the Beatles and his personal breakup with John. (Note: All my gratitude to @aceonthebass for helping with the fiddlier bits of the transcription!)
INTERVIEWER: [inaudible] āin particular, the breakup?
PAUL: Yeah. I know we all had similar feelings. I know John, I remember him saying to me, āWhat am I going to do with my songs now?ā You had a feeling you wanted to know how you were going to exist if you didnāt have the Beatles, how you were going to do. And so it was difficult for all of us, I think. But um, time heals your wounds, you know, as they say, and I think thatās what really happened. After a while, we got used to it. But nobody was happy when the Beatles broke up. I mean, it was just one of those things that just seemed to happen as an explosion, you know. It was there, and it was done.
INTERVIEWER: But your relationship with John, in every way, as a Beatlesā [inaudible] āas a band, you were very very close. I mean, that must have been very painful in that respect, not only the Beatles breaking up, but I mean that particular relationship breaking up. [Note: The German overdub, translation provided graciously by @pivoinesque: Your relationship with John was not just that of a musical partnership. It must have hurt you quite a bit that your special relationship [with him] broke apart.]
PAUL: Mm. It was, yeah. Um, in our songwriting, I had signs that the group was gonna break up, becauseā¦ I mean, I think really what it was, really all that happened was that John fell in love. With Yoko. And so, with such a powerful alliance like that, it was difficult for him to still be seeing me. It was as if I was another girlfriend, almost. Our relationship was a strong relationship. And if he was to start a new relationship, he had to put this other one away. And I understood that. I mean, I couldnāt stand in the way of someone whoād fallen in love. You canāt say, āWhoās this?ā You canāt really do that. If I was a girl, maybe I could go out andā¦ But you know I mean in this case I just sort of said, right ā I mean, I didnāt say anything, but I could see that was the way it was going to go, and that Yoko would be very sort of powerful for him. So um, we all had to get out the way. I donāt blame her. You know, you canāt blame her for being the object of his love.
"Iām not sure I do feel I belong to myself. There are two sides to me. (...) Iām very conscious of my duality in lots of ways, sort of like a split personality. Iām always conscious of that debate between the two selves. Like black/white, day/night, dull/bright."
- Paul [Guardian, 2001]
"I'm trying for music that isn't too romantic, yet contains a romantic thing. I personally don't like things to be too cute - except babies. My music comes off best, I think, when there's hard and soft together."
- Paul [1971]
"When youāre a kid you think things will be straightforward, but when youāre older and youāve experienced more, you realise itās an everlasting war between good and bad."
- Paul in The Lyrics
The other me would rather be the glad one
The other me would rather play the fool
But I want to be the kind of me
That doesn't let you down as a rule
- The Other Me" [written in 1982]
Paul has an artistic side that isn't level-headed, and I like that. Most of his down-to-earthiness comes from living with a good family. He was taught good values. His inner talent is just there. He also has his mad side, but he saves it for home. His mind is amazing. Although his roots are earthy, he's up in the sky on other things.
- Linda [1989]
āPaul is like a beautiful two-headed monster."
- Donovan [Mojo interview, 2008]
"I mean I love the idea that there are two people in my head. Well, at least two."Ā
- Paul in The Lyrics
