Seph - a large white cougar

Zack - a black wolf

I was thinking like angeal is a bear and Gen a hawk, but if this is an au where the spirit animal is supposed to chill w a human… bears aren’t known for that. And I feel like there are many other suitable animals for genesis. Maybe like a fox? Idk

Wait wait wait I've never heard of this one. 0_0 I need fic recs now pls. Okay let me see because I do have my own hcs on what animal the boys would be.

Sephiroth: A Raven would be a good fit (the black feathers come on). They're attributed to prophecies, wisdom and bad omens. White ravens are rare, but they do exist, so imagine a white raven with glowing, green eyes. I do like him as a big, white cat though. Cougar it is!

Cloud: Wolf obviously! As much as I love the chocobo comparisons, Cloud's imagery is often associated with Fenrir, so we're going with Wolf Cloud.

Zack: He's a dog! He's a good boy, okay?? He gives off German Shepherd energy to me.

Angeal: I don't know why I imagine him as an eagle. Maybe it's because Angeal reminds me too much of Sitka from Brother Bear, and in that movie his totem is an eagle.

Genesis: I do see Gen as a fox yeah. They're typically associated with being mischievous and tricky, which would fit Genesis pretty well. OR a phoenix, because they symbolize rebirth and that would fit Gen down to a t.

i've been tagged by @myreia @thevikingwoman and @redwayfarers and surprisingly i have things to share already! idk who to tag since we're well past wednesday, but please consider yourself tagged if you are a writer/artist/gposer/maker of things. i wanna see it all!

i'm putting this snippet entirely under a cut because it's mature TM and kind of long. the miserable timeline is in full swing and i kind of love this kiss and its aftermath so:

Io closes her eyes and nods. Her annoyance softens.

She lifts her hand to his chest. It whispers over his collarbone, winds around the back of his neck. The sounds of the stable fade from his mind when she lifts her chin and licks her perfect lips. He watches her make these tiny decisions; each one could bring their ruin, and she chooses to take the risk anyway. The rise and fall of her chest matches his frantic heartbeat.

His lips fall to hers.

There is something sacred in that first brush of their lips. A dizzying, deliberate attempt to drag it out, to breathe together, to crystalize the shape and taste and feel of this moment into something they might be able to keep.

Io stretches up, pressing closer. Her tongue rolls into Estinien's open mouth, soft and wanting–and she's smiling, for him. He answers in kind, his smile for hers, his tongue moving with hers. He tangles his hand in her hair and she moans, a little sound that fills his mouth.

Godsdammit, he needs to feel that again. There is no consequence Ishgard and all her high lords could dispense that would compare.

They could be closer without her fucking cloak in the way. He tugs the loose knot at her neck and it falls to the floor. He pulls her against him, hands roaming over her back, her waist, and down to where her dress drapes her ass. Her moan again, louder, shaking through them. His desire is no longer mere yearning; the reality of Io's reciprocations–once speculation, now unquestionable–earns a bodily reaction. He hardens, pressed between the tight squeeze of their bodies. She reaches for him, an indelicate, appraising touch that sweeps the front of his pants. Estinien groans and–

Io jerks away, a hand to her mouth and breathing hard. "Oh, gods."

It pains him to do so, but Estinien moves back. "Forgive me."

"For what? I should be the one apologizing."

They say nothing, standing in the dark with their hands at their sides.

Io's hair is tousled, a halo of flyaway strands catching in the light. Her dress is off-center, and she has taken the night's solitude to display her tattooed chest, if only for herself and the chocobo. Her expression has fallen into something serious, but her lips are swollen from his kiss. It is impossible not to want her, and she looks at him with the same conflict.

A breeze whistles through the open door, the birds coo and click, and the seconds drag on without extinguishing the heat in his chest or the greedy coil of need in his belly. Estinien closes the distance between them again. His knuckles ghost over her neck, and Io sighs at the touch. How long has it been since Haurchefant touched her like this? Estinien hopes he will never touch her again. He drifts to her chest, the jut of her clavicle, the barely-raised tattoo. He traces the bold triangle, lingering at its point until his hand skims the front of her dress.

Io holds his face between her hands, keeping him at a safe distance, refusing to let him go. Her dark stare is hard. She struggles with herself. Kiss him or don't. Estinien holds her waist.

"We can't."

"I know," he says. His grip tightens, and he guides her backward to the wall. Io's mouth parts when she meets the stone.

Her hands move from his face to his shirt. She toys with a button, looking from his chest to his lips. "If someone sees..." 

"I know, Io." Estinien hoists her up the wall until she's almost a head above him. The rough stones scratch and snag her dress, and it slips down her shoulders an ilm or two. Io's legs circle his waist, pulling him closer until her breath washes over his face.

"having a romantic picnic" (FFXIV) a valentine's day prompt for corishtola! a little picnic that doesn't quite go to plan. pre-relationship but there's been romance there since the beginning. i like rereading this one because i just think it's really cute

Y’shtola opened her eyes, and her hand closed over their fingers on her cheek. “There is no need to apologize. I enjoyed the rest, brief though it was. One could hardly argue that we do not deserve it.” “Oh?” Corisande said with a smile. She swept her thumb across her cheek once more and Y’shtola blinked, as if realizing for the first time just how close they were. “Did you not argue with me all morning about taking the afternoon off? Or was that someone else I practically had to drag from all the books she brought with her, ‘just in case?’” “Before you begin casting stones, pray tell how many books you brought,” Y’shtola said, a smile playing on her lips.

They’re speaking to her in between kisses, but she can’t concentrate on the words, and not only because she is too preoccupied with their lips against her neck. The truth is you need me more than I need you, you always do— She pulls them closer, fingers clutching at their jacket. She wants this. She can prove to herself that he wasn’t right, that she doesn’t need him—someone who keeps things from her, someone who shot her—more than he needs her. She can go through with this, can keep kissing them, can let them lead her away from the gallery for more. If Aeran saw her right now, he would know, too. If Aeran saw her right now…

✨Something that makes you laugh (or smile, if that fits more comfortably) ✨

A Barn in a Blizzard (FFXIV) the very first ffxiv fic I wrote! it sets up the basis for Corisande and Haurchefant's friendship (Corisande being a regular visitor to the Camp Dragonhead chocobo stables) and their romance. The fic itself makes me smile but the title is a little joke based on the idea of Haurchefant being her "port in a storm" and it makes me laugh when I remember it.

He gestured to a nearby stall where Cilantro had burrowed down in the warm hay, snug in his fluffy winter barding. “He certainly seems well taken care of.” Corisande smiled. She loved to dote on Cilantro and did her best to provide him with everything he needed and more. “He cares for me enough to follow me into this weather, despite how much he despises the cold.” “A strong devotion, indeed,” Haurchefant said, glancing down at her with a smile. “You seem to inspire that in people.”

“You’re still awake. Something on your mind?” (FFXIV) Corisande wakes up and finds Haurchefant still working, they try to keep him on task but he's got other things in mind...the surprise is that I did not intend for it to lead anywhere suggestive when I started writing but it did and I liked it! and there might be a part 2 on ao3

“A bit late in the day to be reviewing reports, isn’t it? Something on your mind?” “Nothing all too important,” he says. He straightens in his chair and grasps their fingers in his. “I was awake and thought to pass the time by clearing a few reports that seem to have fallen to the wayside.” “Do you do all your paperwork in the middle of the night?” she teases, pressing a kiss to his temple to make up for the jest.

"slow dancing in the living room" (FFXIV) another Corishtola Valentine's Day prompt (I wrote most of my FFXIV fics in Jan/Feb lmao) I just like this one because of the Pining. and Cori doesn't even know it yet. and poor Y'shtola in love with the most oblivious person in Eorzea.

The song began to slow, growing soft and almost melancholic. Y’shtola drew away, fingers slipping from their grasp, but they tightened their grip before she could slip free entirely. She paused her retreat, tilting her head in confusion as she looked back at them. “Just until the end of the song,” they said, pulling her back toward them. She came easily enough, though she opened her mouth to protest. Corisande put a hand on her waist and she stilled under the touch. “I promise.”

Hi, friends! We reach the end of another thabox! As usual, if you sent something that wasn't processed, it means tumblr had a snack.

For today's animal fact, i'd like to talk about a fictional animal because I have Final Fantasy VII brainrot so! Let's talk about Chocobos!

So! The name "chocobo" came from a chocolate treat which can be found in Japan named "Chocoball". Turns out the mascot for tis brand actually emitts a sound which can be translated as "kweh" which is where the sounds chocobos make came from. But also! In some games, we also finds chocobos that say "wark" instead of "kweh". Well, in a game named "Final Fantasy Tactics: The War of the Lions", it's been explained that the sounds tamed and wild chocobos are different, thus the wild ones will say "wark" while tamed ones will say "kweh"! I guess that counts as both an animal and a videogame fact, huh? And if you have no idea which creature I'm talking about, they're a creature from Final Fantasy. These big guys which can be ridden like horses!

1. kurasora (sky means sora in japanese, this ship name sounds better imo if anybody is stalking this post):

for cloud, i’m assuming either he’s still recovering from trauma or that sephiroth has invaded his brain. i feel like he just could use some warmth so i would definitely hold him and tell him that no matter what happened, it was never his fault and that it’s okay to still have nightmares. i’d probably soothe him by making him some tea mostly or even just running my hands in his chocobo-like hair. for myself, cloud would also do similar except he lets his actions do the talking instead of his words so he’s definitely hold me tight — rather rare since it’s harder for him to show affection since he doesn’t want to get too attached but he’ll do his best in order to comfort.

2. iwasky:

hajime is RELUCTANT but he tries to play final fantasy with me cause i told him i’m in the game (he regrets it because he knew i am not). he ends up liking aerith because he sees me somewhat and he gets annoyed since i said he’s basically cloud with the way he acts (his amazon cart has the cosplay already in it). another game is smash bros but he likes that more cause then he can get payback against me, his main is cloud (he also regrets this for like 0.2 seconds but he likes his playstyle) since i get distract and ultimately, he wins. i tried to get him into genshin, honkai star rail, and fate grand order but he said no cause he doesn’t want to go broke for pixels.

3. iwasky:

my favorite date is probably our first date since he was flustered and probably went for the most casual thing he could think of, an amusement park to which he won me a giant gible plushie and he was able to protect me from my fear of heights. he did NOT pick this idea, tooru did and he hatecrimed tooru because i looked miserable on every ride to which tooru texted back, “it’s okay, you’re protect her, iwa-chan! 😋🫶✨‼️” the arcade was fun as well as the food. bonus if it’s disneyland because star wars land is the BEST.

i mean honestly, yes. dan heng and i definitely enjoy just being next to each other so i believe quality time is a great one. he probably works on the data bank while i sleep since i sleep so much and he ends up reading it out loud to me to check for grammatical mistakes but also since i’m curious about his adventures since leaving the luofu. i’m sure it was relaxing for the most part to speak about his adventures and just makes me wish to travel more so maybe one day we could take our own little adventure outside of my dreams<3

i feel like this was inspired by a certain conversation… but anyway! love this one AHAHAHAHAH! anyway zack is the type to not have an iternary because he’s just bouncing off the walls which who blames him?? ITS BEACH TIME!! but i digress, a beach day is definitely a fun day! (provided that costa del sol isn’t also giving monsters a vacation as well, ahem anyway…) but definitely he’d grab me and throw me into the water as soon as we got to the beach, he’d make sure it’s safe but he’s also SUCH a tease. though, he’d realize we forgot sun screen so he waits about 20 minutes before throwing me in again. we also would have a picnic on the beach honestly, the resort provides the food though. he’s like 23 at this point so he’s a bit more mature but still has that childish glow. i’d try to teach him beach volleyball too, he’s so bad unless he’s serving overhand LOL. overall, a fun day without the monsters as we play in the water, perhaps building sandcastles and teaching each other small things about ourselves :)

iwaizumi hajime does not neglect great date SPOTS. he definitely does just silly little things like errands but sometimes he’ll trick me and just take me on a long drive!! my favorite time that he did this is when he took me up high on a mountain and overlooked the whole city as well as all of the lights below. he claims it’s because i needed to get out of bed more but i know he’s dying to take me. what’s even better is that along that, there’s an observatory at the top of the mountain and there’s a planetarium since he knows i like the stars but all he sees is his star while he smiles brightly at how happy i am, looking down below.

7. neuvisky:

neuvillette definitely seems like the type to be mr. worldwide SOLELY FOR THAT FACT that the water is delicious. i believe he would want the journey to be as short as possible though for work… unfortunately. he and i are both glad he could make the time though. we’d definitely go to the new area that released!! he probably likes it because there’s so much water there so it’s similar to what he’s used to and cause it’s closer than the rest. it was a small date for the two of us but it’s definitely nice to see how much neuvillette knows everything and explain the difference between waters<33

oberon and i would definitely fit enemies to lovers because he would hate my guts and be all tsundere but it’d be cute. or even sunshine x grumpy cause he is such a bum and claims he almost ruled the world if it weren’t for ritsuka and co. (he’s my perfect mothman)

melusiné & i would have the “i hate everybody but her” and the “who did this???” tropes because she loves with all of her heart and sacrifices for those she loves. i don’t believe i could like anybody else if she wasn’t there to fill me with the joy that she does every time i open fgo… i know miss dragon would lose herself if somebody were to hurt me though — she gets protective and possessive easily.
