Chapters: 10/14 Fandom: The Magnus Archives (Podcast) Rating: Mature Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply Relationships: Martin Blackwood/Jonathan "Jon" Sims | The Archivist Characters: Martin Blackwood, Jonathan Sims Additional Tags: Post-Canon, AU Not Somewhere Else - Same Universe, world building, Reconciliation, Hurt/Comfort, Romance, Post-Breaking Reconciliation, Angst with a Happy Ending, Late S5 AU Summary:
Jon sends the fears far from Earth and flees London, leaving the others to assume the worst. He settles in a small village and opts to live there quietly until he dies, a self-imposed penance. This plan is foiled when the first former Avatar shows up - and Jon realizes that every domain-keeper in the apocalypse still has some faint connection to him.
After a year of being a shoulder to cry on for confused and distraught former Avatars, Jon leads a moderately happy life. He has a flourishing garden, a cat, and some company. All of that comes crashing around his ears (or his head) when a familiar face shows up to his cabin, demanding answers.

Thank you all for your patience as we worked through the applications, and for your patience in the upcoming days as we update the pages and get everything started. All of these applications were incredible, and we thoroughly enjoyed reading every single one. We’ll be reaching out to some of you who have applied for skeleton characters (which received multiple applications) with ideas we have for how to make the character you’ve created into an original one, so be sure to check the inbox of the account that you used to send your application for a message. Otherwise, anyone who doesn’t receive a message from us is more than welcome to re-apply for a different original character during our next round of acceptances. We ask that you just create a new one to avoid characters being too similar.
We ask for your continued patience tonight when it comes to OOC interactions. As much as we’d love to get straight to plotting, the two of us are pretty much fried! We both are going to head to bed now, but we’ll be on in the morning to send out links to join the OOC blog and OOC discord if you so choose! Then we’ll have the whole day tomorrow to talk about Wade!
If you’ve been accepted please send your account within 24 hours (by 1:00am EST on Wednesday, April 8th).
With that being said, please welcome the following characters to Wade.

1. What was the first fandom you got involved in?
The first I got involved in? Not wrote, but just... involved. Mh. It’s gotta be One Piece, that’s where I discovered fanart and fanfiction for the first time. First fic I ever read was some self-insert love-triangle between a Mary-Sue and Luffy and Ace and I absolutely loved it because the mere fact that here, for free, I just got to read about my favorite characters and my favorite anime was absolutely mindblowing.
6. List your OTP from each fandom you’ve been involved in.
Holy effing shit this one alone will take A LONG TIME. Okay. Cutting this short to actually involved in, as in I actively read or wrote in that fandom, not every time a ship caught my fancy. And only one OTP per fandom, the top OTP.

15. Is there an obscure ship which you love?
I mean. 75% of the ships I love are “obscure”. I... I always find the very obvious mainstream ships... boring. I mean, sometimes I find them nice in canon, but mostly I find canon to provide enough about them that I don’t really need fandom to get more of it, you know? Or, which also often happens, I find the mainstream ships have more of a very strong friendship-dynamic, or even a sibling-dynamic in some cases, and I just can’t really find it in myself to want to see them in a romantic way.
So, if I have to pick an, as in one, obscure ship, I will have to go with my top OTP. Jagnus. Jace and Magnus literally lived together, in both the show-canon and the book-canon, yet somehow it is an “obscure” ship. I mean, not somehow, we all know why. It’s the unwritten fandom rule of “canon mlm shall NEVER EVER BE BROKEN UP HOW DARE YOU SHIP ONE WITH SOMEONE ELSE”. You have no idea how often that rule has come between me and my OTP. Basically every time there is a canon mlm ship, really.
And this in no way or shape means to criticize those who only ship canon and are content with it, you do you, but I do find the lack of creativity in shipping in fandom where there is a canon mlm ship... really damn boring. Fandoms without canon mlm representation have the wildest constellations of ships, have a far broader variety of content, but when there is canon mlm, the majority of a fandom tends to just happily sit down with it and hug it and prefer not to be creative with the content and the shipping. And as a certified multishipper, I don’t really get that - like, even if you like the canon, you could have multiple ships?
17. Who was your first OTP and are they still your favourite?
My first OTP was Shere Khan/Bagheera, because gods do I love Jungle Cubs. And while other ships I interact more with have pushed it off the throne, if I see any form of Sheregheera content, I am immediately sucked in, no questions asked, no hesitation. I am utterly in love with this very rare, small, very obscure actually, ship and I will always love it and it still is one of my favorites.
23. Name a fic you’ve written that you’re especially fond of & explain why you like it.
Ooof. Interesting one. I’ve done a variety of PJO fics I’m particularly fond of in previous versions of such a question, so let’s go with something else this time. “The Lost Soulmarks”. It’s, at this point, probably my own personal most reread story. I just reread it the other night, actually. It just - it hits all of the right spots in what I want from a fic. Very often, I write to please my readers, with “What do my followers like most?” in my mind at least to a certain degree, but some things are absolutely self-indulgent. And I should really write more absolutely self-indulgent fics because those are the ones I myself keep coming back to. It has ABO-verse, it has soulmates, it’s Jace-centric, with lots of love, misunderstandings but not the kind where one of them is to blame but rather where it’s due to the circumstances, it’s really emotionally painful, but pays off in the end. It’s... seriously those are all the things I love.
41. List and link to 5 fanfics you are currently reading:
Uuuhm so like five WIPs where I am desperately waiting for updates?
Shadowhunters, Jagnus: “Non-Fat Frappuccino With Extra Whipped Cream” by @kimmycup - it’s my top OTP and my best friend gave it to me but now she is slowly murdering me with the wait for part 2
Shadowhunters, Jimon: “Strings” by annhamilton - I looove this story, only recently discovered it and fell in love with it and am now not-quite-patiently waiting for the next chapter
Avengers, WinterIron: “(Iron Is A) Star Killer” by RayShippouUchiha - a fic I read... a while ago and recently rediscovered with the latest update and am now desperately waiting for more!
Avengers, WinterIron: “An Unempty Nest” by gryvon - same as the one above, I read this a while ago and forgot about it and recently rediscovered it for myself and still love it
Avengers, Steve/Bucky/Tony/Tony: “Second Chance (at happiness)” by SailorChibi - I got this fic recommended and devoured it in one sitting and have since then checked nearly daily for updates because I greatly enjoy it!
44. What ship do you feel needs more attention?
*bangs potts and pans together* JAGNUS JAGNUS JAGNUS SERIOUSLY THEY LIVED TOGETHER. THEY LITERALLY WERE ROOMMATES. IN ANY OTHER FANDOM THAT’D HAVE TAKEN OFF LIKE NOTHING ELSE. THE PARALLELS BETWEEN THEM!! LET. MY. GOLDEN. EYED. BOYS. FIND. HAPPINESS. IN. EACH. OTHER.

FOM BLOG: CREWE ALEXANDRA 0-1 GILLINGHAM
My Thoughts On Crewe Alexandra V Gillingham...................
This was a unconvincing win for Gillingham, A win that plenty Gillingham Supporters would call a smash and grab 1-0 win, But after losing five league matches in a row and Gillingham haven't scored in those five league defeats against MK Dons, Portsmouth, Fleetwood Town, Ipswich Town and Sunderland, then it doesn't matter how Gillingham won against Crewe Alexandra, Because these three points are three vital points, Because this result stops the winless and goal-less run that Gillingham were on and maybe Gillingham can gain some confidence and gain some momentum from this win against Crewe Alexandra, And Gillingham can take the confidence from this win into the two cup matches against Woking and Arsenal's U23's over the coming week.
As for how Gillingham Lined Up Against Crewe Alexandra, Gillingham Lined Up As Follows........ Joe Lumley, Ryan Jackson, Jack Tucker, Connor Ogilvie, Zech Medley, Robbie McKenzie, Tom O'Connor, Kyle Dempsey, Jordan Graham, Vadaine Oliver, Trae Coyle Subs: Joe Walsh (GK), Christian Maghoma, Declan Drysdale, Henry Woods, Matty Willock, John Akinde, Dominic Samuel - I was pleased to see Trae Coyle start for Gillingham, because I think Trae Coyle can provide Gillingham with some pace and trickery in the opposition's final third, Tom O'Connor starting for Gillingham was a unexpected surprise as well, Mikael Mandron also starts up-front for Crewe Alexandra and many supporters believed that The Former Gillingham Striker will get himself on the score-sheet, simply because Gillingham are on a horrific run of form at this moment in time.
FIRST HALF:
Eighteen Minutes Into The Match, And Crewe Alexandra should have taken the lead, Jack Tucker kicks a long diagonal cross-field cross pass towards one of Vadaine Oliver or Tom O’Connor, But Perry Ng manages to win the initial aerial challenge and Daniel Powell manages to get on to the loose ball and pass the ball back towards Perry Ng, And Perry Ng kicks the ball long down-field towards Mikael Mandron on the halfway line, And Mikael Mandron manages to retain possession of the ball before threading a fantastic pass through to Tom Lowery on the over-lap down the right side of the pitch - Gillingham’s Left - And Tom Lowery has aches of space to run into, And Tom Lowery whips in a fantastic low cross across towards Charlie Kirk, who is unmarked inside Gillingham’s Penalty Area, And Charlie Kirk’s first time shot towards goal goes wide of the far right post when really Charlie Kirk should have hit the target - And that was a massive let off for The Gills.
Thirty One Minutes Into The Match, And Crewe Alexandra created a golden goal-scoring opportunity to try and take the lead, Daniel Powell has possession of the ball for Crewe Alexandra down the right side of the pitch in Gillingham’s Half, And Daniel Powell passes the ball back to Perry Ng, And Perry Ng takes a touch to control the ball before passing the ball forwards to Mikael Mandron, who not only manages to retain possession of the ball, But Mikael Mandron manages to thread through a fantastic through-ball through to Daniel Powell, And Daniel Powell is running through on goal for the home side, And Daniel Powell see’s his low effort towards goal crash against the out-side of the near post and the ball diverts out of play for A Gillingham Goal-Kick - Crewe Alexandra really should have scored again, and once again, Mikael Mandron is involved in the build up.
Thirty Three Minutes Into The Match, And Crewe Alexandra again create another decent goal-scoring opportunity, Gillingham are on the offensive and looking to make the breakthrough as Gillingham are causing Crewe Alexandra problems down our right side of the pitch, as Jordan Graham passes the ball through to Ryan Jackson on the over-lap in Crewe Alexandra’s Final Third, And Ryan Jackson’s cross ricochets off Luke Offord and the ball runs through to Callum Ainley, And Callum Ainley runs forwards towards the halfway line in possession of the ball before passing the ball short to Daniel Powell, And Daniel Powell takes a touch to control the ball before passing the ball square to Ryan Wintle, And Ryan Wintle passes the ball forwards to Tom Lowery, Who plays a first time layoff into Harry Pickering’s Path, And Harry Pickering manages to a thread a through-pass through to Charlie Kirk, And again, Charlie Kirk has a lot of space to run into and Charlie Kirk is through on goal for Crewe Alexandra, And Charlie Kirk see’s his shot towards goal saved by Joe Lumley, and Gillingham can consider themselves fortunate that the ball runs through to Robbie McKenzie and Crewe Alexandra are not given the opportunity to stick the ball into the back of the net from the re-bound.
Thirty Five Minutes Into The Match, And despite Crewe Alexandra creating plenty of goal-scoring opportunities in this match so far, Gillingham had the chance to take the lead, Connor Ogilvie manages to intercept the ball from Mikael Mandron on the halfway line and pass the ball out-wide to Tom O’Connor, And Tom O’Connor takes a few touches in possession of the ball before passing the ball back to Zech Medley just inside Gillingham’s Half Of The Pitch, And Zech Medley takes a touch to control the ball before playing a one / two with Robbie McKenzie, and Zech Medley kicks the ball long down-field and Vadaine Oliver manages to chest the ball under control before smashing his effort towards goal first time with a dipping volley which goes wide of the far right post with Will Jaaskelainen well and truly beaten in The Crewe Alexandra Goal - Vadaine Oliver perhaps could have gone closer to goal rather then opting to shoot first time, because Luke Offord slipped at the crucial moment for Crewe Alexandra.
Thirty Seven Minutes Into The Match, And Crewe Alexandra create another decent goal-scoring opportunity, Mikael Mandron plays a short pass to Daniel Powell, who passes the ball square to Callum Ainley, And Callum Ainley gets the ball under control before passing the ball out-wide to Charlie Kirk down the left side of the pitch in Gillingham’s Final Third - Gillingham’s Right - And Charlie Kirk cuts inside into a more central position on the pitch before picking out Perry Ng with a cross-field pass, And Perry Ng takes a touch to control the ball before clipping in a dangerous cross which see’s Daniel Powell completely unmarked inside Gillingham’s Penalty Area, And Daniel Powell’s looping header thankfully goes over the crossbar - It is only going to be a matter of time before Crewe Alexandra open the scoring, Because Crewe Alexandra have created plenty of clear cut goal-scoring opportunities to take the lead.
Forty Minutes Into The Match, And Tom O’Connor’s last ditch challenge on Charlie Kirk diverts the ball out of play for A Crewe Alexandra Corner Kick, and from the resulting corner kick, Crewe Alexandra should have scored, Callum Ainley passes the ball short to Charlie Kirk, And Callum Ainley makes a quick run which allows Charlie Kirk to run through by the byline and take on Trae Coyle, And Charlie Kirk fires in a low dangerous cross across the face of goal, and Mikael Mandron’s diving header is kept out by a combination of a very good save by Joe Lumley and the ball hitting both Jack Tucker and Perry Ng and Jack Tucker manages to get the ball partially clear and away from goal, and Vadaine Oliver headers the ball towards the edge of Gillingham’s Penalty Area, And Harry Pickering headers the ball back inside Gillingham’s Penalty Area and Jack Tucker headers the ball partially clear towards Charlie Kirk, and Charlie Kirk’s fiercely driven shot towards goal hits Tom O’Connor hard and the ball deflects out of play for A Crewe Alexandra Corner Kick.
And In The Forty Fifth Minute Of The Match, Crewe Alexandra were on the front-foot and looking to open the scoring again, Luke Offord has possession of the ball for Crewe Alexandra on the halfway line, And Luke Offord passes the ball out-wide to Ryan Wintle, And Ryan Wintle runs forward in possession of the ball down the left side of the pitch, And Ryan Wintle continue’s his run forwards before passing the ball short to Harry Pickering, And Harry Pickering gets the ball under control before cutting inside into a more central position on the pitch, And Harry Pickering passes the ball forwards towards Mikael Mandron on the edge of Gillingham’s Penalty Area, And Mikael Mandron plays a one touch layoff into the path of Callum Ainley, And a neat pice of skill see’s Callum Ainley go past Jack Tucker, And Callum Ainley’s shot towards goal is tipped over the crossbar by Joe Lumley who gets the faintest of touches on to the ball to prevent Crewe Alexandra from taking the lead.
HALF TIME: CREWE ALEXANDRA 0-0 GILLINGHAM
I uploaded the follow status update on to Facebook And Twitter At Half Time,,,, HALF TIME: CREWE 0-0 GILLINGHAM - Gillingham are fortunate that the score-line is still 0-0 at half time, Charlie Kirk shoots wide from Tom Lowery's low cross, Daniel Powell has seen his shot hit the post from Mandron's through-ball, Kirk has also seen his shot towards goal saved, Powell has seen his header go over the crossbar from Ng's floated cross, And Lumley has also tipped Callum Ainley's shot over the crossbar and played a pivotal roll in ensuring that Crewe did not score after a goal-mouth scramble. Gills have created chances, Jasskelainen has saved Ogilvie's Header, Oliver should really hit the target with his effort on goal, Oliver's Header is on target from O'Connor's Cross but was comfortable for Jasskelainen to deal with, I have got to say that Crewe are the better side.
Jordan Graham’s in-swinging corner kick has clipped the top of the crossbar and gone out of play for a goal-kick, Jordan Graham has also whipped in a dangerous in-swinging cross towards the back-stick and Connor Ogilvie’s header towards goal is saved by Will Jasskelainen, Perry Ng has seen his shot from distance comfortably clear Gillingham’s Crossbar, And I thought there was a potential penalty decision for Gillingham when Tom O’Connor was fouled inside Crewe Alexandra’s Penalty Area, But A Corner Kick Was Awarded To Gillingham Instead.
I had to watch the vast majority of the first half on I Follow on mute, because the commentary was ahead of the play and that was a bit off-putting, and whilst that has happened in other matches this season, it hasn’t been ahead of the play for the entire first half, I was hoping that the commentary links up with the passage of play much better in the second half, And as far as any substitutions go, I was not expecting a half time substitution from Gillingham, And I think Steve Evans will send the same eleven out on to the pitch demanding for a much better performance in the second half.
SECOND HALF:
Fifty Three Minutes Into The Match, And Crewe Alexandra should have taken the lead, Vadaine Oliver cannot retain possession of the ball and Omar Beckles passes the ball back to Luke Offord, And Luke Offord passes the ball forwards to Ryan Wintle, And Ryan Wintle takes a touch to control the ball before passing the ball square to Harry Pickering, And Harry Pickering passes the ball out-wide to Charlie Kirk, who plays a first time pass forwards towards Callum Ainley, And Callum Ainley manages to retain possession of the ball before passing the ball back to Ryan Wintle, And Ryan Wintle passes the ball out-wide to Harry Pickering first time, And Harry Pickering takes a touch to control the ball before whipping in a low dangerous cross inside Gillingham’s Penalty Area and Mikael Mandron’s first time shot towards goal hits the inside of the post and the ball ricochets very kindly into Joe Lumley’s grateful arms and Gillingham survive - BUT CREWE ALEXANDRA REALLY SHOULD HAVE OPENED THE SCORING WITH THAT GOAL-SCORING OPPORTUNITY!!!!!!! - And as soon as the ball goes out of play, Gillingham make there first substitution of the match with John Akinde coming on to replace Trae Coyle, And John Akinde and Vadaine Oliver up-front suggests straight-away that Gillingham want to get the ball forwards quickly and hoping that the physical presence of Oliver and Akinde in attack can cause Crewe Alexandra problems defensively.
Fifty Six Minutes Into The Match, And Gillingham create a rare goal-scoring opportunity, Ryan Jackson goes on a driving run down the right side of the pitch in possession of the ball, And Ryan Jackson manages to retain possession of the ball, cuts back and pass the ball short to Kyle Dempsey, And Kyle Dempsey gets the ball under control before creating some space for himself to get a shot off on goal which is saved by Will Jasskelainen - And this effort on goal gives Gillingham something to build on.
And something to build on is precisely what happened, Because Gillingham manage to open the scoring after Fifty Eight Minutes, Omar Beckles kicks the ball long down-field for Crewe Alexandra and Robbie McKenzie headers the ball forwards for Gillingham back into Crewe Alexandra’s half of the pitch and Ryan Wintle wins the aerial challenge up against Vadaine Oliver and Callum Ainley and Kyle Dempsey both compete for loose ball in central midfield, and Kyle Dempsey passes the ball back to Jack Tucker, who takes one touch to control the ball and another touch to pick out Jordan Graham with a diagonal cross-field cross pass, and Jordan Graham does brilliantly to get the ball under control down the left side of the pitch in Crewe Alexandra’s Final Third, And Jordan Graham takes on Perry Ng and runs towards the byline before whipping in a sensational in-swinging cross towards the far side of Crewe Alexandra’s Penalty Area and John Akinde’s Header is on target and Will Jasskelainen cannot prevent the ball from crossing the goal-line, and finally, Gillingham have scored a goal and Gillingham have taken the lead - CREWE ALEXANDRA 0-1 GILLINGHAM.
Now Will Jasskelainen should have done better to prevent John Akinde from scoring, But having gone five and a half games without scoring a goal, I don’t think anyone cares how Gillingham scored just as long as we stuck the ball into the back of the net, and that is precisely what Gillingham have done, also, It’s great to see John Akinde score his first goal of the season and finally get his name on the score-sheet having not scored for Gillingham since that 3-2 away win against Blackpool back in The 2019 / 2020 Season.
Gillingham have switched our formation to A 4-4-2 Diamond Midfield, the back five is still the same (Joe Lumley, Ryan Jackson, Jack Tucker, Connor Ogilvie, Zech Medley) But Robbie McKenzie is sitting in-front of the back four, Kyle Dempsey and Tom O’Connor are playing in central midfield, With Jordan Graham given a free role behind Vadaine Oliver and John Akinde.
Sixty Three Minutes Into The Match, And Crewe Alexandra create a very good goal-scoring opportunity to equalise just five minutes after going behind to John Akinde’s goal, Ryan Wintle runs forwards in possession of the ball up towards the halfway line, And Ryan Wintle retains possession of the ball for Crewe Alexandra and passes the ball back towards Perry Ng, who plays a first time pass inside centrally towards Callum Ainley, who takes a few touches in possession of the ball before switching play to Charlie Kirk down the left side of the pitch, And Charlie Kirk goes on a driving run forwards in possession of the ball all the way down the left side of the pitch, And Charlie Kirk back-heals the ball towards Harry Pickering just outside Gillingham’s Penalty Area, And Harry Pickering evades the attempted challenge from Ryan Jackson and Harry Pickering manages to work his way in possession of the ball inside Gillingham’s Penalty Area and lay the ball off to Callum Ainley, And Callum Ainley’s first time shot towards goal flashes just wide of the far right post with Joe Lumley well and truly beaten - Crewe Alexandra are dominating possession of the ball, which is to be expected, but they have yet to get themselves on the score-sheet - But if Crewe Alexandra continue to create quality goal-scoring opportunities then it feels like it is only a matter of time before they do score the equaliser.
Sixty Six Minutes Into The Match, And Gillingham had a fantastic opportunity to extend there lead to 2-0 and give The Gills some much needed breathing space, Gillingham have a throw on in there own defensive final third down the right side of the pitch, And Ryan Jackson hurls a long throw down the line and Vadaine Oliver flicks the ball on towards Jordan Graham, who skilfully manages to take the ball past Luke Offord and run down the right flank in possession of the ball and Jordan Graham continue’s his run down the right side of the pitch, And Jordan Graham manages to retain possession of the ball despite being closely marked by Ryan Wintle, And Jordan Graham cuts back on himself and then works his way towards the byline, and Jordan Graham whips in a dangerous in-swinging cross towards the near post, And Tom O’Connor’s looping header hits the roof of the net rather then the back of the net - AND THAT WAS THE CHANCE FOR GILLINGHAM TO DOUBLE THERE LEAD TO 2-0!!!!!!!!!!!
Sixty Nine Minutes Into The Match, And Crewe Alexandra make there first substitution of the game as Owen Dale comes on for Daniel Powell, And In The Seventy First Minute Of The Match, Gillingham make there second substitution of the game as Dominic Samuel comes on to replace Vadaine Oliver, And Crewe Alexandra make there second substitution of the game as Oliver Finney comes on to replace Callum Ainley, And In The Seventy Eighth Minute Of The Match, Crewe Alexandra create a very good goal-scoring opportunity to try and score the equaliser, Luke Pickering manages to whip in a low cross across the face of goal and the ball deflects back to Ryan Wintle, who fails to hit the target with a first time fiercely driven effort towards goal, and this goal-scoring opportunity came after a dominating passage of possession for Crewe Alexandra.
Eighty Three Minutes Into The Match, And John Akinde is penalised for his challenge on Tom Lowery, And the resulting free kick is taken very quickly with Perry Ng passing the ball square to Luke Offord, who passes the ball forwards to Harry Pickering, And Harry Pickering takes a touch to control the ball before passing the forwards out-wide to Charlie Kirk, And Charlie Kirk takes a touch to control the ball before waiting around for passing options and passing the ball centrally to Tom Lowery, who takes a touch to control the ball, And Tom Lowery passes the ball forwards towards Perry Ng right on the edge of Gillingham’s Penalty Area in a right / central area of the pitch, And Perry Ng gets the ball under control before threading the ball through to Owen Dale on the over-lap, And Owen Dale fires a first time cross across the face of goal and Oliver Finney’s shot towards goal is brilliantly saved by Joe Lumley and Jack Tucker gets the faintest of touches on to the second ball to prevent Oliver Finney from scoring the re-bound and Robbie McKenzie manages to get the ball clear and out-side of Gillingham’s Penalty Area - Now if Oliver Finney hit his shot towards goal either side of Joe Lumley, then Crewe Alexandra equalise, But that is still a remarkable save from Joe Lumley to preserve Gillingham’s slender 1-0 lead.
Eighty Eight Minutes Into The Match, And Crewe Alexandra make there third and final substitution as Offrande Zanzala comes on to replace Tom Lowery, But there is still some defending for Gillingham to do from the resulting corner kick, And Joe Lumley saves a second cross from A Crewe Alexandra Player, Then Joe Lumley strikes the ball on the half-volley towards Jordan Graham with a exceptional pass down the line, Joe Lumley has been exceptional between the sticks for Gillingham against Crewe Alexandra in a match where Gillingham have needed a inspired goalkeeping performance.
Eighty Nine Minutes Into The Match, And Matty Willock comes on to replace Tom O’Connor as Gillingham look to see out the rest of this match, But just as we are reaching The Ninetieth Minus Of The Match, Oliver Finney has seen his shot towards goal flashed just wide of the far post, And Mikael Mandron was involved in the build up to this goal-scoring opportunity, and can Gillingham hang on for three valuable points ???
Four minutes of additional time were shown by The Fourth Official, But with Matty Willock’s substitution, Oliver Finney’s shot going wide and Joe Lumley taking his time over the resulting goal-kick, more time has been added on, And the final noteworthy moment of the match see’s Perry Ng’s long kick down-field headed down the line by Kyle Dempsey and John Akinde is chasing a loose ball and Perry Ng has to pass the ball back to Will Jasskelainen, And Will Jasskelainen doesn’t have any time left to kick the ball long down-field, and after a horrendous run of five league defeats in a row, and five matches where Gillingham have failed to score, finally, Gillingham end this dreadful run with a win, a clean sheet, and most importantly, three points in a match where Gillingham had to win.
FULL TIME: CREWE ALEXANDRA 0-1 GILLINGHAM
I uploaded the following comments on to Facebook and Twitter after the full time whistle,,,,,, FULL TIME: CREWE 0-1 GILLINGHAM - This was a backs against the wall display from Gillingham in a match where Gills were second best and Crewe will be wondering how or why they didn't get a point out of this match at the very least. Gills will gladly take the three points tonight, Great to see Akinde get his first goal of the season for Gillingham, hopefully, this goal can be the springboard for Akinde to get on the score-sheet on a more regular basis, the back four of Jackson, Tucker, Ogilvie and Medley were all superb, But Lumley was out-standing in goal, Switching the formation to a diamond and two strikers playing more centrally gave Gills more of a threat in the final third, O'Connor was unlucky not to header the ball into the back of the net for 2-0, How Mandron didn't score when his effort on goal hit the post, I have no idea, After the last five defeats where Gillingham have failed to stick the ball into the back of the net, It makes for a pleasant change to be celebrating a hard fought 1-0 win for Gillingham Tonight, Not the best performance, and a lot to work on, But three vital points for The Gills.
Make no mistake, this wasn’t a fantastic performance from Gillingham and had it not been for the exceptional performance from Joe Lumley in-between the sticks for Gillingham then Crewe Alexandra could have quite easily won this match 4-1 or 5-1, But what we can do as Gillingham Supporters is enjoy that winning feeling having seen Gillingham lose the last five league games against MK Dons, Portsmouth, Fleetwood Town, Ipswich Town and Sunderland, I think it is important to celebrate The 1-0 win against Crewe Alexandra, Because A 1-0 Away Win, A Clean Sheet and three points are positive talking points, even though it is also important to recognise that Gillingham were very fortunate to win 1-0 against Crewe Alexandra.
I think switching the formation to A 4-4-2 Diamond Midfield with John Akinde and Vadaine Oliver in attack worked very effectively for Gillingham, And I just wonder if Gillingham should go back to the diamond midfield which worked so successfully for The Gills Last Season ??? - especially when taking into consideration that Gillingham do not have many pacey wide players and the lack of a defensive midfielder in-front of the back four leaves Gillingham very exposed, whilst it is important to mention that Crewe Alexandra created goal-scoring opportunities after Gillingham switched formations, Gillingham were not conceding the goal-scoring opportunities we saw from Crewe Alexandra in the first half.
John Akinde scoring his first goal for Gillingham in The 2020 / 2021 Season is a huge positive, and I am hoping that goal from John Akinde is the springboard for John Akinde to score more goals for The Gills, And Gillingham can now switch there attentions to two cup matches against Woking and Arsenal’s U21’s In The FA Cup and Football League Trophy respectively, obviously The FA Cup Game is more important, But it would be great to see Gillingham win both matches against Woking and Arsenal’s U21’s, which will not only see Gillingham progress further in both cup competitions, But Gillingham can take some confidence and momentum into the league fixtures against Lincoln City, Charlton Athletic and AFC Wimbledon, which are the three league games that Gillingham have got coming up for the rest of November.
As for other player performances, Jack Tucker and Connor Ogilvie were exceptional as Gillingham’s Centre Back Pairing, Jordan Graham whipped in two quality crosses, one which John Akinde scored, and the second cross that Tom O’Connor headed over the crossbar, But The Man Of The Match Award goes to Joe Lumley, who fully earned that clean sheet for Gillingham, And Joe Lumley returns to QPR having done a exceptional job filling in for Jack Bonham, who should be back available for selection for Gillingham V Woking at the weekend.
Again, this is a unconvincing win, it is a fortuitous win for The Gills, But a win, a clean sheet and three points is something for Gillingham to build on, and sometimes you need that one lucky result to go in your favour to go on a excellent run, and let’s hope that Gillingham can build on this win against Crewe Alexandra with a win against Woking in The First Round Of The FA Cup At The Weekend - COME ON THE GILLS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Quote Message: Foderingham did brilliantly, he got a full hand on the ball and palmed it away. I think Mulumbu thinks he’s scoring. He thinks ‘I’m round him and rolling it into the net’. From nowhere Foderginham threw out a hand. Incredible. Rangers look like they’ve had a rocket at half-time

Dembele, 16, on for Celtic debut
Celtic 1-0 Hearts
Karamoko Dembele gets a warm reception on his first Celtic appearance as he replaces Oliver Burke.
There’s been quite a buzz around the Celtic kid for a few years now. The 16-year-old’s parents were born in the Ivory Coast, he was born in London but spent most of his life growing up in Glasgow.
He has represented Scotland at youth level but is currently in the England set-up. Maybe Kieran Tierney, James Forrest and Callum McGregor need to have a word…

Kilmarnock 1-0 Rangers
So close to a second goal for Kilmarnock.
A deflected shot leaves Youssouf Mulumbu with only Wes Foderingham to beat, but Rangers’ goalkeeper saves well at the midfielder’s feet and recovers to block Eamonn Brophy’s shot.

‘An unlikely equaliser for the Dons’

Willie Miller
Former Scotland defender on BBC Radio Scotland
Quote Message: It’s quite incredible. Aberdeen have had quite a doing in the first half but they took their opportunity. They’re able to do this – get results out of nowhere. Good work from Connor McLennan down the left-hand side but once he’d stumbled over the ball it landed really kindly for Sam Cosgrove. It’s an unlikely equaliser.

HALF-TIME Hibernian 1-1 Aberdeen
Tied at the break at Easter Road. Currently, Aberdeen need a favour from Rangers to overtake Kilmarnock but the Dons are at least back in the game after falling behind.

HALF-TIME Kilmarnock 1-0 Rangers
Kilmarnock are 45 minutes away from clinching third place in the Premiership – and qualifying for European football for the first time since 2001.
Goalkeeper Jamie MacDonald has had a couple of fine saves, while Daniel Candeias fired against the crossbar, as Rangers have threatened themselves.
But Killie are worthy of the narrow lead thanks to a clinical finish from former Rangers winger Chris Burke.

Lewis Ferguson takes it but it’s a simple save for Ofir Marciano, holding on at the second attempt.

With four rounds of Premier League action already in the books and the international break that takes fourteen days, it is worth checking the statistics so far.
There are a handful of surprising leaders in a number of categories who have made a strong start to the campaign.
Aaron Wan-Bissaka, who joined Manchester United from Crystal Palace for £ 45 million this summer, has hit the ground.
Aaron Wan-Bissaka has a good start made Manchester United shirt this season

The young Englishman leads the way when it comes to completed tackles that tell you something about the defensive abilities, but probably also how united are played.
He made a total of 26 tackles, six more than Leicester right back Ricardo Pereira in second place.
In another defensive measurement, Michael Keane tops the list in terms of won air duels.
The center back of Everton has defeated an opponent 23 times to win heads with Willy Boly or Wolves only one behind.
Boly is also ninth in the tackles category for the 28-year-old has made a good start with his second season at Molineux.
Nathan Ake has made more interceptions than any other defender (14), one more than Newcastle striking Fabian Schar.
Riyad Mahrez created ten chances for Manchester City despite starting only two games

In the attacking end of the field, Riyad Mahrez made the most of his limited time game for Manchester City.
The Algerian winger may have only just started half of their matches, but he has created 10 chances, the same number as Sadio Mane and both wingers ahead.
Mo Salah and Callum Wilson of Bournemouth are held together in second place at nine.
In midfield, Kevin de Bruyne has created 16, two more than Manuel Lanzini and five more than Paul Pogba in third place.
Harry Winks (right) is the master pass for Tottenham and leads the Premier League

Tottenham may have made a stuttering start to the season, but Harry Winks has looked excellent and pulled the strings for Mauricio's side Pochettino.
He has made 287 successful passes, that is 36 more than his closest competitor Pogba. Somewhat surprisingly, Moritz Leitner is in third place in Norwich.
Frank Lampard's offensive football has had varying results so far, but it seems to be suitable for Mateo Kovacic.
The Croatian midfielder has completed more dribbles than anyone else in the league (13) other than Lanzini.
The leaderboards will of course change shape during the course of the season, but for now there are a few surprise names that stand out.
Mateo Kovacic is prominent in Chelsea and completed 13 dribbles this season

Sharp hits hat-trick as Sheff Utd go top of Championship
Sheffield United moved back to the top of the Championship table as Billy Sharp scored a hat-trick to help them beat Wigan Athletic at Bramall Lane.
Latics defender Chey Dunkley deflected Chris Basham’s low cross into his own net to give the Blades the lead midway through the first half, but Kal Naismith fired in to equalise for the visitors six minutes before the break.
United captain Sharp netted from inside the box to restore their lead on the stroke of half-time and then guided in Leon Clarke’s left-wing cross to make it 3-1 eight minutes after the restart.
Sharp chipped Christian Walton from six yards out to complete his treble and notch his 11th goal of the season before Joe Garner hooked in to pull one back for Wigan, who fell to their sixth straight away defeat in the league.
Follow Leeds v Nottm Forest and relive Saturday’s EFL action[1]
United took advantage of Middlesbrough’s draw against Derby in the early kick-off to move two points clear at the summit ahead of Leeds’ match against Nottingham Forest (17:30 BST).
Wigan had the early chances but the Blades scored from their first attack and eventually took control to extend their unbeaten home run to seven matches.
Sharp’s clinical finishing proved crucial as he netted his first hat-trick since August 2008, when he was in his second spell with hometown club.
There could have been further goals in the closing stages, as Jack O’Connell headed against the Wigan crossbar from Oliver Norwood’s corner and Blades keeper Dean Henderson had to tip over Reece James’ free-kick.
Chris Wilder’s men have now lost just once in their past eight matches, while Paul Cook’s Latics have lost six consecutive league games on the road for the first time since May 2010, when they were in the Premier League under Roberto Martinez.
Wigan manager Paul Cook told BBC Radio Manchester:
“Sheffield United are the outstanding team in the division, they work so hard for each other, they are capable of mixing the game up and play football with the best of them.
“We knew how hard it would be to come here, but they didn’t have to do a lot to win the game, to be honest, and that’s a massive disappointment.
“We had a few great opportunities, we got into good areas, but we are in an unforgiving league, and teams score goals against us without really earning that right.
“If we want to improve our away form, we must play a lot better than we did today”.

Nathan Jones says Tom Bugg has burnt trust with the Demons following Callum Mills hit
Melbourne midfielder Tom Bugg has “burnt a fair bit of trust” within the club following his crude off-the-ball hit on Sydney defender Callum Mills, according to Demons co-captain Nathan Jones.
Bugg has been referred directly to the tribunal for his sickening punch to the unsuspecting Mills which saw the reigning Rising Star miss virtually the entire match on Friday night at the MCG.

The AFL Tribunal could be required for the second time in two weeks after Melbourne’s Tomas Bugg was reported for striking Sydney’s Callum Mills.

The former Giant is set for a lengthy stint on the sidelines and Jones said he was “in shock” when he saw the incident for the first time.
“I didn’t find it funny at all, I initially thought that he’s in a lot of strife,” Jones told RSN radio on Tuesday.
From left: Nathan Jones, Jack Watts and Tomas Bugg. Bugg has to redeem himself, says Jones. Photo: AFL Media/Getty Images
“Obviously it’s not something we stand for as a footy club, it’s a really terrible look for the game.
“I know Tommy is really remorseful and he’s probably burnt a fair bit of trust with the playing group and the coaching group, but in saying that we’ll help him through and give him all the support he needs and educate him as much we can and he’ll be looking at a fair stint on sidelines and he’s got a lot of work to do in that regard.”
Jones said Bugg was “embarrassed” by his actions and disappointed with himself that he is now being portrayed as an on-field thug.

“There is no defending what he did,” Jones said.
Tomas Bugg faces the tribunal on Tuesday night for knocking out Callum Mills.  Photo: AAP
“Obviously he doesn’t feel the best right now but we get around him obviously. We care about him and support him and he’s one of us so as much as he admits and we admit that he’s done wrong – there’s no covering that up – I guess the No.1 thing now is to get around him.”
Melbourne have also drawn some criticism off the field in recent weeks in the social media sphere with Bugg playfully goading Jason Johannisen before their meeting with the Bulldogs on Instagram, and Clayton Oliver on Twitter hitting back at champion cricketer Damien Martyn who suggested the youngster took a dive when West Coast defender Will Schofield made contact with him a few rounds ago.

Jones said those issues had been addressed internally and he stressed that his team wanted to be seen as “humble and respectful”.
“Social media is a new beast. We’re probably encouraged as a playing group in the media to show personality and show character and be yourself but if you step outside that and it doesn’t go to plan it’s a double-edged sword because you tend to get ripped down on the backside of that – that’s the bigger issue really,” he said.
“Players have to understand that if they put it out publicly, the perception that that creates is a potential to create a storm which is disappointing because you are unintentionally encouraged to be yourself and we love the characters and the difference in people but it’s a really interesting debate.
“It’s difficult. Inside a footy club you tend to try and block out the noise and all of those kind of things, but if you bring it all together maybe those perceptions are warranted and it is what we are putting out there as a group in different circumstances.
“I feel like we are a really disciplined young team. We’ve still got a lot to learn, we’re a short way into hopefully a long journey and these instances where we are undisciplined and are still a work in progress and we’ve got to keep educating our players on what it looks like to perform on the field, to deal with expectation, deal with winning, losing, perception, all these kind of things – it’s a work in progress.”
The three-time club champion said Melbourne were looking to emulate the ruthless “unsociable Hawks” who dominated the footy landscape for the better part of a decade but conceded it was a delicate balancing act trying not to cross the line.
Melbourne players have been involved in three of the season’s more unsavoury incidents with Jordan Lewis, Jesse Hogan and Bugg all guilty of ugly off-the-ball hits on Patrick Cripps, Sam Rowe and Mills respectively.
“We want to play on the edge when we play because we feel like that’s a point of difference and that’s when we play at our best,” Jones said.
“That’s probably what we’re trying to work towards. It’s playing with a healthy confidence and almost bordering on an arrogance when you’re playing on the field but win, lose or draw you’re humble in victory or defeat and you are respectful of the opposition.”
Jones is sidelined with a quad injury and doesn’t expect to be available for another four weeks.
However, he said Hogan was a strong chance to line up against Carlton this week after recovering from surgery to remove a testicular tumour while Jeff Garlett and forgotten man Jack Trengove would also come under serious consideration. A cloud still remains over Jack Watts’ availability.

How would YOU change VAR? Sportsmail experts debate the hot topic
How would YOU change VAR? MARK CLATTENBURG, JAMIE REDKNAPP and MARTIN KEOWN on the most popular topic of football after Manchester City is denied the late winner against Tottenham
Video Assistant Referee is first used in the Premier League
In both weekends of the season and technology played a huge role
Man City was denied against West Ham before VAR canceled a winner against Spurs
Mark Clattenburg, Jamie Redknapp and Martin Keown of Sportsmail discuss
By Martin Keown and Mark Clattenburg and Jamie Redknapp
Published: 22:31 BST, August 18, 2019 ] | Updated: 22:31 BST, August 18, 2019
Another week lower in the Premier League and more a week in which those three letters are on the lips of every football fan: VAR.
With the technology that has played an important role in many competitions so far, the debate was blown wide open after Manchester City an injury time winner scrambled against Tottenham
To further analyze the topic and discuss what can be done about the future, the resident experts at Sportsmail Martin Keown, Jamie Redknapp and Mark Clattenburg compared ideas.
Aymeric Laporte (center) was awarded after he had handled the ball, and a late winner was ignored
Mark Clattenburg
After Gabriel Jesus had rejected his late strike in Manchester City, the TV camera cut to Sergio Aguero stunned by the bank.
He was not alone. Supporters at the Etihad Stadium felt that way too. If I could change one thing about VAR, it would be to make it more transparent.
I want to be able to hear the officials as they analyze a decision, as we can with cricket. In its current form, there is confusion. After a goal, let's hear: ecking Check for offside. It is not offside. Check for possible error. There is no mistake. ´ Or in the case of Saturday: because According to the guidelines for handball, that goal must be rejected. The ball hit Aymeric Laporte's arm and his team took advantage of it. & # 39;
Fans may not agree with the decision, but at least they could understand it.
The Etihad erupted in a wild party with a heart attack "VAR heartbreak
Regarding the handball itself, it may seem like an unpopular opinion, but as an active referee, I agree with the change in the law.
It used to have to be deliberate to be a mistake, but how does a referee know what is and what is not intentional?
That was too vague. This new directive simplifies matters.
If you take advantage of handball, whether by accident or not, it must be punished.
I also think our officials should use their pitch-side monitors more
If Michael Oliver had gone to judge Erik Lamela's challenge on Rodri, I am sure he will be penalized would have granted.
Jamie Redknapp
We didn't see an official consult his pitchside monitor in the Premier League.
Why is that? That is what they are for.
The incident with Rodri from Manchester City at Etihad Stadium, when Erik Lamela knocked him down in the box, begged to be looked at him. Michael Oliver is probably the best referee in the Premier League, but he didn't look at it.
There has been much debate about VAR and the handball law, but the biggest problem for me was the Rodri-Lamella collision
VAR offered no input when Erik Lamela seemed to drag Rodri within the area
References must be brave and use their monitors. VAR officials must tell you when they think a possible penalty has been missed. Don't just ignore the technology that you have at your disposal. We brought this into our game, so embrace it. It feels like we are on the edge of the diving board, but are too scared to jump into it.
VAR will be good for football. It will even bring things up. It was long assumed that the large teams could bully the smaller ones, especially at home. I admit that by the end of the games at Anfield, I remember Liverpool receiving penalties and thinking: & # 39; Really? & # 39; The referees were terrified. Now it is more of a level playing field.
Martin Keown
The report in the Mail on Sunday about the video technology that rocks football was eye-opening.
It revealed how the cameras used by VAR work at 50 frames per second, meaning that a photo is taken every 0.02 second
An upset Gabriel Jesus confronted Michael Oliver with the VAR decision after the game
is about offside calls, that is not advanced enough to decipher the exact moment when the ball is played. It means that in the gap between frame A and frame B a player can go from side to side offside, but VAR must choose one or the other to go off. It means that there is apparently a margin of error that can be as large as 38.8 cm, and that is a problem.
It's been 50 years since we put a man on the moon, but we can't get cameras quickly enough to decide when a ball is played? This is a matter that officials must look at. I do not agree with those who say that VAR should be scrapped for this season.
We started the campaign with it and have to see it.
VAR WATCH- WHAT HAPPENED THERE IN THE OTHER GAMES
ARSENAL 2-1 BURNLEY
VAR was once in action brought to the Emirates Stadium – rightly excludes an Arsenal goal. Just before half-time, with a score of 1-1, Nacho Monreal ran on a through ball before retrieving it for Reiss Nelson, who thought he had scored his first Arsenal goal.
Assistant Darren Cann had already raised his flag for offside against Monreal, but went to VAR and officials in Stockley Park confirmed that Cann had received the right call.
The sight of & # 39; no goal & # 39; on the big screen led to wild parties from Burnley fans.
VAR statement: BACK-UP ASSISTANT
] Aston Villa 1-2 Bournemouth
A use of VAR in Villa Park came early in the second half when Bournemouth goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale was awarded for not having shot Villa striker Wesley in the box.
Official VAR Jon Moss called a penalty but Ramsdale clearly reached the ball first and no penalty was awarded. Surprisingly, VAR was not deployed for Bournemouth's penalty in the first minute, although referee Martin Atkinson had a clear view of the contact when Tom Heaton Callum Wilson downed.
VAR VERDICT: SPOT ON
Southampton 1-2 Liverpool
St Mary & # 39; s was a VAR- free zone.
Brighton 1-1 West Ham
The 28th-minute strike of Leandro Trossard, who received a goal from referee Anthony Taylor, was destroyed by VAR after Dan Burn, who crossed over to the Belgian to score, went astray in the build-up.
The problem was that it took more than two minutes for Trossard's volley to hit the net – and when both parties were in line for the restart – for Taylor to call. It could have gone faster?
VAR VERDICT: TOO SLOW
Everton 1-0 Watford
There was an incident of which to the people in it The stadium was told that they had been referred to VAR, a criminal appeal for Watford in the first half.
It was a surprise that the challenge of Yerry Mine was examined because the tackle looked reasonable – and it turned out. Earlier there was a possibility for VAR when Dominic Calvert-Lewin perished in the Watford area. Everton's case looked much more substantive than Watford's, but nothing was checked – or we thought so.
Word reached halfway through the media room that it had been checked in Stockley Park. If this were the case, why were the paying spectators not informed?
VAR VERDICT: FRUSTRATING
Norwich 3-1 Newcastle
Nothing to trouble the VAR scorers.
VAR VERDICT: NA
Sheffield Utd 1-0 Crystal Palace
VAR was not used, although Sheffield United twice felt that there were cases against Palace & Joel Ward, handball and a high kick on Oli McBurnie.
VAR VERDICT: DIDN & # 39; T INTERFERE
Chelsea 1-1 Leicester
A late James Maddison goal for Leicester was correctly excluded – and it was clearly offside to Stamford Bridge.
VAR VERDICT: DID THE WORK

How Chelsea will lineup in 2019-20 after transfer ban
Lifeline for Michy Batshuayi, forced stay for Eden Hazard and opportunities for the first team for Callum Hudson-Odoi and Ruben Loftus-Cheek: How Chelsea could position itself in 2019-20 after two transfer window ban

Chelsea FIFA for violating rules concerning the transfer of minors. ] They will not be able to register new players for the next two transfer windows – the upcoming summer window and next January.
The ban will probably have significant consequences for Chelsea's transfer plans and the future of key players such as Eden Hazard .
Hazard is desperate for Real Madrid but to stay with Stamford Bridge with the Blues that can not replace a substitute.
He now seems to be leaving for a free transfer in 2020, without any sign that a new deal is in sight.
They would not be able to take the option to permanently make Gonzalo Higuain's loan and lose the face of Oliver Giroud with his contract this summer. pair Alvaro Morata and Michy Batshuayi.
Atletico Madrid will probably exercise their right to buy Morata outright, giving Batshuayi an unexpected second chance at Stamford Bridge.
Tammy Abraham appeared on loan for the Wolves in January after a successful enchantment at Aston Villa
There is a mini-crisis for Chelsea in goal, with back-ups to No 1 Kepa – Willy Caballero and Rob Green – out of contract this summer.
On 37 Caballero is a spring chicken next to the 39-year-old Rob Green and seems likely to earn another deal.
In defense, Cesar Azpilicueta remains a mainstay.
The 24-year-old has only made 16 appearances since joining 13 months ago but can present a more viable option than the descending Marcos Alonso
]
Callum Hudson-Odoi was desperate to join Bayern Munich, but can be forced to stay
In the midfield, Jorginho faces an uncertain future when Maurizio Sarri will leave before the end of the season, as
That offers a chance for Ruben Loftus-Cheek, who is starved from first minute minutes under the Italian. N & # 39; Golo Kante would return to his natural central position.
And Chelsea could go with a new look at three behind the headman Batshuayi with Hazard in the middle, flanked by Christian Pulisic and Callum Hudson-Odoi.
The purchase of Pulisic for the summer window now looks sharper, while the Hudson-Odoi denies the move to Bayern Munich that he so desired.
There is a feeling that the 18-year-old more first team would be handed chances under another manager.
In reserve Ethan Ampadu is higher in the ranking but often on the bench.
Probably a number of loan players will return, even Tiemoue Bakayoko, despite the fact that they would rather stay AC Milan. Mason Mount owes a lot to his fascination with Derby this year, and Kurt Zouma will increase the number despite two years.
Teenage full-back Reece James, on loan from Wigan, also got the chance to make his claim.
Despite the ban, Chelsea still has plenty of options thanks to the wealth of lent players.
Mason Mount can get the chance to use his claim after the impression with Derby this season

Wigan Athletic 1-0 Bristol City: Nick Powell gives Latics victory
Nick Powell’s second-half header gave Wigan Athletic victory over Bristol City in the Championship.
The former Manchester United midfielder guided Josh Windass’ superb ball in back across goal and into the corner past Niki Maenpaa.
After a low-quality first half during which both teams cancelled each other out, it was always likely that one goal would prove decisive and Powell’s opener gave the Latics something to hold onto.
Famara Diedhiou had City’s best chance of grabbing an equaliser, but his stoppage-time header from close range went straight into the arms of goalkeeper Christian Walton.

Until that point Lee Johnson’s side had never seriously threatened and it had been the Latics who came closest to scoring again, but Sam Morsy and Callum Connolly both fired wide.
It was both sides’ third game in six days and, for much of the match, it showed through a lack of tempo and intensity.
Wigan, promoted from League One last season, are now two points off leaders Leeds, while City drop down to sixth.
