With the last bit of fire burning, you hurried to clean up the mess that tonight’s bonfire had left you. All of the Gladers, aside from Newt, had gone to sleep already so you were looking forward to finally getting to bed.
Newt on the other hand, didn’t seem to worry too much. Humming a song to himself as he picked up some trash, he looked to not care at all that it was late and you all had to be up early for another day in the Glade.
“We should probably hurry up and get back to the homestead.” You told the blond who absentmindedly nodded his head before continuing the song. Sighing in defeat, you gathered the last bit of trash around you and threw it away before heading over to him.
“Perhaps you shouldn’t have taken so many cups.” You said, referring to the amount of Gally’s Secret Drink that he had tonight.
Newt only hummed in response, lopsided firm on his face as he emptied his hands and held one out for you. “Dance with me.”
“We should really be heading back, it’s late.” You replied but Newt stated persistent with his hand still outstretched for you to take. Rolling your eyes, you tried to hide the small smile that appeared on your face as you took his hand.
He led you both a few steps back to where the grass was clear of obstacles before pulling you towards his chest. He started off by swaying you both slightly, his hand in yours while the other rested on your waist and yours around his shoulder. Avoiding each-others feet as you tried to maintain eye contact was difficult but neither of you seemed to mind as you'd both simply brush it off with a laugh. Thankfully, this didn't happen as often as you danced under the moonlight together.
You couldn't remember if you'd learned how to dance before the Glade, you didn't even know where that song Newt was humming came from but despite all that, it all seemed so familiar. Perhaps you lived a life full of balls and parties where you'd dance the night away in someone's arms or maybe you were a professional dancer who performed before thousands. You would probably never know, but whatever your life was before the Glade, you were glad you still remembered this much to be able to enjoy this with Newt.
"Where'd you learn that song from?" You asked as he pulled you back to his chest and swayed you both side to side.
Newt's humming stopped as he thought.
"I don't know," He replied softly. "I've always known it, pretty good song as well."

Entering the Twiwizard or Quadwizard? Tournament seemed like a good idea in hindsight but upon actually getting in, turned out to be an absolute nightmare. He was constantly being followed by fellow peers or news reporters trying to know more about ‘Hogwarts possible champion’ so privacy quickly became a sacred thing for him. He couldn’t even begin to think how Harry, Viktor or Fleur were dealing with this.
“Mr. Diggory, Mr. Diggory a word please!” Someone, a news reporter he assumed, called from down the halls as he headed towards the Great Hall. Sighing, he put on a smile before turning around only to be faced with a news reporter carrying a clipboard and quill.
“I’m Elizabeth Carren, a reporter for Magical News.” They said, offering him a kind smile as they showed him the company symbol.
Furrowing his brows at the unfamiliar name, Cedric didn’t know whether to question it or not.
“Magical News? Kind of cliché name isn’t it?” He said in a joking tone.
“Well we wanted something simple, but back to my purpose here. I would like to ask you a few questions if that’s alright with you?”
“Yeah sure, anything.”
“Why did you join the tournament?”
Very original. “Well I mainly just did it as a joke. Wanted to see if I could get in and if so, how I’d perform.”
“So you just did it to test yourself?”
Cedric hesitated and Elizabeth noticed. “Or was there another reason? A bet? Rivalry? What was it?”
“It was actually a uh, friend.” He mumbled the last part.
“Sorry what was that?” Elizabeth asked.
“It was for a friend. My best friend (Y/N). I had hoped to impress them and hopefully get a date with them afterwards.” He confessed.
“Great thank you, that’s all we needed!” She said, scribbling something down on her clipboard before running off the way she came from, leaving Cedric standing there confused and slightly worried.
Was that really all they came for? Our of everything they could’ve asked about, and they wanted to know that? Cedric shoot off the thoughts, his hunger reminding him that he had places to be and as he walked off to the Great Hall, his worries quickly faded. It’s fine, I’m probably just overthinking it anyway. He thought to himself as he sat down at his table. Everything will be fine.
Unfortunately for him however, his doubts and worries came to be true the next day when a copy of the Magical News was dropped into his (and other students) laps at breakfast. Cedric felt his blood run cold as he read the headline and fine text.
HOGWARTS TRIWIZARD CHAMPION CEDRIC DIGGORY REVEALS NEWS ABOUT WHY HE JOINED.
In a recent interview with Elizabeth Carren, the Hogwarts champion revealed that he had joined the tournament to impress a fellow friend by the name of (Y/N) (Y/L/N).

Thomas was never one to thoroughly plan any idea he came up with, especially when it came to his friends and tonight was no different. With a life on the line, yours specifically, Thomas had gotten no rest as he came up with a poorly thought out plan to get you back from WICKED's hold.
From what he's seen and been told, WICKED returned Minho to the Gladers in exchange for you due to some complications with Minho's cooperation skills. Apparently they believed that you would be easier to manage but if you still had the will you've always had, he was sure they wouldn't get that far. Despite this easing his worries by a bit, he still needed you back by his side, and preferably today as it was the day Right Arm planned to go to the Safe Haven.
"This is a terrible idea." Gally said as he looked over the brief plan Thomas had come up with. Frypan and Newt looked at the boy with their lips pressed into a line as they agreed with him.
Thomas sighed in defeat as he rested his head against the table. "Well it's not like we have any other options! It's either we go through with my admittedly shitty plan or let them kill them and I am not letting WICKED lay a hand on them."
Now it was the other three boys turn to sigh. They too wanted to get you back, they really did, but they couldn't potentially throw all progress with Right Arm out the window just to save one person. It wasn't fair, especially with all the immunes they've managed to save already. Perhaps if they didn't have so much on their shoulders they would be on their way to you right now but they couldn't.
"The berg takes off tonight, in the meantime, time is yours." Gally told the group before heading off to meet Brenda with Newt and Frypan following as well, leaving Thomas alone with the image of a faulty plan before him.
"If they can't come along, then I'll go alone." He muttered to himself before sitting up from his seat. Quietly leaving the room to where the weapons and equipment were stored, Thomas hastily grabbed what he could and left for Last City.
Thomas knew this was a suicide mission. The chances of his and your survival had immediately dropped the second he decided to do this alone but it was a risk he was willing to take. Even if they may never be able to reach the Safe Haven, he just needed to be with you again.

It was almost poetic how someone who was sunshine incarnated could hold so much pain but hide it behind a warm smile everyday.
(Y/N) (Y/L/N) was widely known amongst Hogwarts for being the "physical embodiment of sunshine" but not many seemed to know the person beyond that façade. The broken and sad person who hid behind a version of themselves they had long said good-bye to.
The first time anyone ever saw the person behind the act, it was in the middle of the night in an empty hallway. Or at least, they thought it was empty until a Hufflepuff student heard their crying and came to check up on them. When Cedric Diggory turned the corner only to see no other than (Y/N) (Y/L/N) sat against a wall hugging their knees with tears staining their face, he didn't quite know how to react. His initial reaction was to comfort them, regardless of the reputation they held in school but the other side of him was having trouble deciding whether this was a dream or reality. The empathetic side of him won and he rushed to their side where for the rest of the night, all he did was stay by their side until they tired themselves out and he walked them to their Common Room to get ready for the day.
What surprised him more however was how they acted throughout the day. If Cedric didn't stumble across them crying just the night before, he wouldn't have batted an eye to them but that night he learnt something. He met the person behind the mask and now whenever he saw them amongst the sea of students, he couldn’t help but wonder just how much effort it took for you to smile or if it was just second nature to brush all pain beneath it for the sake of others.

Klaus Hargreeves’ life was never the best. With the voices in his head of the dead following him everywhere and the fear that trails close behind, he had found his escape through drugs and substances.
It was hard, he would admit. The rush was great and eased his fears for the time being but the constant need of a distraction was exhausting. Perhaps this was why meeting you was so refreshing.
When he first met you, his first thought was that you needed a day off.
Running down the sidewalk with a drink in hand, you weren’t looking where you were going, resulting in you running straight into Klaus, as did your drink which spilled onto his outfit.
“That was my favourite shirt.” He sighed as he looked up from his stained shirt to see your shocked and almost scared expression.
“I am so sorry sir, I’m late to work and I didn’t look where I was going and-“ Rambling on, you didn’t notice the man's expression softening to an amused look.
“Hey hey it’s alright,” He cut you off, prompting you to take a deep breath before he continued. “Do you think you can skip one day of work?”
Klaus could hear his brother, Ben, questioning why he was asking a stranger if they could ditch work but sadly for him, there was no way of getting rid of that voice.
“Depends, would it be worth my time?” Was your reply. A teasing smile on your lips as all worries of your job drifted off with the wind as you waited for his response.
"Well why don't you come and find out."
That day was one of the best both of you have had in a long time. Sure you may have gone home to a very angry email from your boss threatening to fire you if something like that happened again but it was worth it. You finally met someone who understood and genuinely seemed to care for you while Klaus met someone who turned his whole world upside down.
It was almost like a wake up call when he arrived home that night. Smile on his face like a little girl as he skipped down the halls.
"I think they're going to be good for you."
Ben's words fell onto deaf ears as Klaus headed to the kitchen to make "celebratory drinks" as he called it. Ben chuckled, shaking his head as he followed his brother to the kitchen where off-key singing filled the room.
