I was bored

Eragon:

he learned how to write when he was fifteen. You cant convince me he wouldnt take the easy route and write in capital letters. Also i think hed really care about legibility.

Nasuada:

She also wants to make it legible and Ajihad always made her write in cursive so she still does that a little. Nothing too fancy tho bc she has to write it multiple times a day and doesnt want to bother

Arya:

Shes a lefty and ill die on that hill. She also doesnt rly care too much about it but likes the swing she can do with the A bc she cant do it in elvish. (This got a little ugly, i had to write it like seven times before it looked good)

Murtagh:

Totally the person to practice his signature. Writes really straight and with tall letters. Cares more about the Look than legibility but its legible enough. Really doesnt like signing contracts anymore tho, for… obvious reasons.

Brom:

Illegible except for the first letter. No fucks left, not after a century of this. The tired parent signing their kids test without even taking a look at the grade (eragon failed grammar again).

Oromis:

Knows how to write in human/dwarfen letters but is unused to it. Tries his best anyways and it actually looks really good. Very round letters, smears his i dots

Galby:

Used to be very fancy about it but is getting a little lazy. Still dramatic enough for the big lines in the t and the x tho.

Bonus: Angela

Doesnt like giving signatures (it wastes her time bc no one knows her real name and she definitely wont reveal it for something this boring so the signature will be worthless anyways) but if someone makes her she’s going to waste her their time like theyre wasting hers and take an eternity drawing flourishes around it. Probably even more than i did. Normally only gives strange warnings or hexes the parchment or something tho bc she just doesnt like it.

Eragon is already Nasuada's vassal, and he's Murtagh's brother, and Murtagh and Nasuada are two inches from being a couple. I'm scraping everyone into a found family. Angela and Elva are in it, too. Solembum, as well. I want all of these people hanging out regularly.

I want Elva babysitting Roran's kid.

I want Nasuada stroking Thorn's head casually as she takes a stroll outside, and Thorn nuzzling into her hand because Thorn, like Murtagh, is very touch-starved and loves Nasuada.

I want Angela casually brewing remedies for insomnia and whatever mild aches Roran doesn't think to mention aloud.

(I'd like to include Orik in this, but the Hrothgar thing is kind of the elephant in the room, Murtagh-wise, and I can't part with the Murtagh/Nasuada ship.)

I want Elva to fall asleep alone in some drawing room in Nasuada's castle and wake up covered in a blanket with Nasuada quietly writing a letter nearby and Eragon and Murtagh discussing the Urgal Olympics in some chairs a few feet away. And she wonders momentarily who gave her the blanket, but shortly decides that it doesn't matter and goes back to napping. Next time she wakes up, Nasuada and Eragon and Murtagh have left the room and Solembum is in cat form sleeping on the same sofa.

I want Angela to babysit Roran's kid.

I want Eragon to have inside jokes with everyone that are incomprehensible to everyone else. He has gone on little side-adventures with all of his friends and relatives individually, so he has little references for all of them.

I want Murtagh and Saphira and Thorn to just...hang out. Like, just sit in a field for hours, talking in their minds.

I also want Blödhgarm to babysit Roran's kid. I really just want Roran's kid to grow up so weird.

Alright, final thoughts about Eldest

- Eragon is great and a good hero and a good guy but man does he have to learn the lesson of "hey maybe you should empathize with other people sometimes" a Little Too Often

- Roran's a top tier dude, as usual. I think he's where my love of warhammers originates from, even though he just uses a normal-ass hammer

- I have Many Thoughts about Murtagh and his character arc, but I think I'll reserve most of them until later in the series

- Nasuada is constantly on some queen shit. I love her I love her!!! I'm so sorry I bad mouthed you when I first read the series because I was 12 and jealous over your love interest we love a boss babe ❤️

- I just love having the knowledge of Angela being a Time Lord this go around

- The elves are based and 100000% have orgies in the forest you can't fuckin' FOOL me Christopher!!! The elves are some freaks!!!

- Side note, I love that Paolini goes out of his way to establish that the elves can alter their anatomy to better suit their internal image of themself and instead of going with the (seemingly obvious) Trans™️ option he just goes "No!!! Furries!!! :D"

I am rereading the inheritance cycle at the moment and the amount of potential for sequels is crazy. Honestly Christopher pasolini has so much sheer content. I'm thinking older eragon training new riders, new threat from outside alagaesia leading to more exploration of the world as a whole. Timelines with Angela and Elva and an ultimately rewarding love story with arya. There could also be descendants of people like roran and katsina, potentially a love story between nasuada and murtagh and their children. Oh and there could be new races and creatures as well. Maybe a shade becomes a rider or something I dunno. I think spirits should be covered in more detail. Focus on Dwarf and urgal riders and stuff. It would be great I can't be the only one that wants this rlly bad
