Gen Z Is Coming to Your Office

Sean McKeon was 11 years old when the 2008 financial crisis shot anxiety through his life in Hudson, Ohio. He remembers his father coming home stressed after the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. took over the bank where he worked. A teacher asked classmates if their parents cut back that Christmas. They all said yes.

That unsettling time shaped the job plans he hatched in high school. “I needed to work really hard and find a career that’s recession-proof,” says Mr. McKeon, now 21. He set his sights on a Big Four accounting firm. He interned at EY in Cleveland and will become an auditor there after graduating from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, next year.

About 17 million members of Generation Z are now adults and starting to enter the U.S. workforce, and employers haven’t seen a generation like this since the Great Depression. They came of age during recessions, financial crises, war, terror threats, school shootings and under the constant glare of technology and social media. The broad result is a scarred generation, cautious and hardened by economic and social turbulence.

Gen Z totals about 67 million, including those born roughly beginning in 1997 up until a few years ago. Its members are more eager to get rich than the past three generations but are less interested in owning their own businesses, according to surveys. As teenagers many postponed risk-taking rites of passage such as sex, drinking and getting driver’s licenses. Now they are eschewing student debt, having seen prior generations drive it to records, and trying to forge careers that can withstand economic crisis.

Early signs suggest Gen Z workers are more competitive and pragmatic, but also more anxious and reserved, than millennials, the generation of 72 million born from 1981 to 1996, according to executives, managers, generational consultants and multidecade studies of young people. Gen Zers are also the most racially diverse generation in American history: Almost half are a race other than non-Hispanic white.

With the generation of baby boomers retiring and unemployment at historic lows, Gen Z is filling immense gaps in the workforce. Employers, plagued by worker shortages, are trying to adapt.

LinkedIn Corp. and Intuit Inc. have eased requirements that certain hires hold bachelor’s degrees to reach young adults who couldn’t afford college. At campus recruiting events, EY is raffling off computer tablets because competition for top talent is intense.

Companies are reworking training so it replicates YouTube-style videos that appeal to Gen Z workers reared on smartphones.

“They learn new information much more quickly than their predecessors,” says Ray Blanchette, CEO of Ruby Tuesday Inc., which introduced phone videos to teach young workers to grill burgers and slow-cook ribs. Growing up immersed in mobile technology also means “it’s not natural or comfortable for them necessarily to interact one-on-one,” he says.

Demographers see parallels with the Silent Generation, a parsimonious batch born between 1928 and 1945 that carried the economic scars of the Great Depression and World War II into adulthood while reaping the rewards of a booming postwar economy in the 1950s and 1960s. Gen Z is setting out in the workplace at one of the most opportune times in decades, with an unemployment rate of 4%.

“They’re more like children of the 1930s, if children of the 1930s had learned to think, learn and communicate while attached to hand-held supercomputers,” says Bruce Tulgan, a management consultant at RainmakerThinking in Whitneyville, Conn.

Gen Z’s attitudes about work reflect a craving for financial security. The share of college freshmen nationwide who prioritize becoming well off rose to around 82% when Gen Z began entering college a few years ago, according to the University of California, Los Angeles. That is the highest level since the school began surveying the subject in 1966. The lowest point was 36% in 1970.

The oldest Gen Zers also are more interested in making work a central part of their lives and are more willing to work overtime than most millennials, according to the University of Michigan’s annual survey of teens.

“They have a stronger work ethic,” says Jean Twenge, a San Diego State University psychology professor whose book “iGen” analyzes the group. “They’re really scared that they’re not going to get the good job that everybody says they need to make it.”

Just 30% of 12th-graders wanted to be self-employed in 2016, according to the Michigan survey, which has measured teen attitudes and behaviors since the mid-1970s. That is a lower rate than baby boomers, Gen X, the group born between 1965 and 1980, and most millennials when they were high-school seniors. Gen Z’s name follows Gen X and Gen Y, an early moniker for the millennial generation.

College Works Painting, which hires about 1,600 college students a year to run small painting businesses across the country, is having difficulty hiring branch managers because few applicants have entrepreneurial skills, says Matt Stewart, the Irvine, Calif., company’s co-founder.

“Your risk is failure, and I do think people are more afraid of failure than they used to be,” he says.

A few years ago Mr. Stewart noticed that Gen Z hires behaved differently than their predecessors. When the company launched a project to support branch managers, millennials excitedly teamed up and worked together. Gen Z workers wanted individual recognition and extra pay. The company introduced bonuses of up to $3,000 to encourage them to participate.

After seeing their millennial predecessors drown in student debt, Gen Z is trying to avoid that fate. The share of freshmen who used loans to pay for college peaked in 2009 at 53% and has declined almost every year since, falling to 47% in 2016, according to the UCLA survey.

Denise Villa, chief executive of the Center for Generational Kinetics in Austin, says focus groups show some Gen Z members are choosing less-expensive, lower-status colleges to lessen debt loads. Federal Reserve Bank of New York data show that nationwide, overall student loan balances have grown at an average annual rate of 6% in the past four years, down sharply from a 16% annual growth rate in the previous decade.

Lana Demelo, a 20-year-old in San Jose, Calif., saw her older sister take on debt when she became the first person in their family to attend college. “I just watched her go through all those pressures and I felt like me personally, I didn’t want to go through them,” says Ms. Demelo. She enrolled in Year Up, a work training program that places low-income high-school graduates in internships, got hired as a project coordinator at LinkedIn and attends De Anza College in Cupertino part-time.

Gen Z is literally sober. Data from the Michigan survey and federal statistics show they were less likely to have tried alcohol, gotten their driver’s licenses, had sex or gone out regularly without their parents than teens of the previous two or three generations, Ms. Twenge, the San Diego State professor, found.

They grew up trusting adults, and Gen Z employees want managers who will step in to help them handle uncomfortable situations like conflicts with co-workers and provide granular feedback, says Mr. Tulgan, the management consultant.

When Mr. Tulgan’s company surveyed thousands of Gen Z members about what mattered most to them at work, he heard repeatedly that they wanted a “safe environment.” He is advising clients to create small work teams so managers have time to nurture them.

“I was in no rush to get a driver’s license,” says Joshua Berja, a 21-year-old San Francisco resident who waited until he turned 18 to get one. He lives with his parents to save money, runs errands for his mother and picks his father up from work.

Gen Z is reporting higher levels of anxiety and depression as teens and young adults than previous generations. About one in eight college freshmen felt depressed frequently in 2016, the highest level since UCLA began tracking it more than three decades ago.

That is one reason EY three years ago launched a program originally called “are u ok?”--now called “We Care”--a companywide mental health program that includes a hotline for struggling workers.

Mr. Stewart, of College Works Painting, says he wasn’t aware of any depressed employees 15 years ago but now deals frequently with workers battling mental-health issues. He says he has two workers with bipolar disorder that the company wants to promote but can’t “because they’ll disappear for a week at a time on the down cycle.”

Smartphones may be partly to blame. Much of Gen Z’s socializing takes place via text messages and social media platforms--a shift that has eroded natural interactions and allowed bullying to play out in front of wider audiences.

In the small town of Conneaut Lake, Penn., Corrina Del Greco and her friends joined Snapchat and Instagram in middle school. Ms. Del Greco, 19, checked them every hour and fended off requests for prurient photos from boys. She shut down her social media accounts after deciding they “had a little too much power over my self-esteem,” she said.

That has helped her focus on studying at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Daytona Beach, Fla., to become a software engineer, a career she sees as recession-proof. When the last downturn hit, she remembers cutting back on gas and eating out because her parents’ music-lesson business softened.

“I learned a lot about the value of money,” she says. “I’ve always wanted to have a very secure lifestyle, secure income.”

She says the negative experience with social media made her want a professional LinkedIn page, and she took a seminar at college to learn how to do that.

The flip side of being digital natives is that Gen Z is even more adept with technology than millennials. Natasha Stough, Americas campus recruiting director at EY in Chicago, was wowed by a young hire who created a bot to answer questions on the company’s Facebook careers page.

To lure more Gen Z workers, EY rolled out video technology that allows job candidates to record answers to interview questions and submit them electronically.

Getting employees comfortable with face-to-face interactions takes work, Ms. Stough says. “We do have to coach our interns, ‘If you’re sitting five seats away from the client and they’re around the corner, go talk to them.’”

Mr. McKeon, the Ohio student, sees a silver lining growing up during tumultuous times. He used money from his grandfather and jobs at McDonald’s and a house painting company to build a stock portfolio now worth about $5,000. He took school more seriously knowing that “the world’s gotten a lot more competitive.”

“With any hardship that people endure in life, they either get stronger or it paralyzes them,” Mr. McKeon says. “These hardships have offered a great opportunity for us to get stronger.”

Around the month of June 2019, my bestfriend suddenly chat me up and said that she want to introduce me to her friend. At that time, I was not really in the mood in looking for a boyfriend but always open to meet new friends. One thing after another, she finally confessed to me that this guy is her cousin, she and his sister want to try to set us up. But, she informed me in advanced that he was divorced, a short marriage caused by his ex wife cheat on him. I said, just as friends, sure why not.

During these time, she and his sister keep in touch finding a way to introduce us, worrying as well that he might not be open for a new relationship. Finally, on the 7th July 2019, a message pop up with a "Hi", and so how it all begins.

At first, we only chat via Whatsapp, then continue to phone calls (he doesn’t like to type), then we finally decided to meet up. During these period, I was also introduced to another guy by my cousin and he is single. But I'm not really interested with the 2nd guy. So when me and 1st guy finally decided to meet up, don't know what actually happened, but we both have cold feet at the last minute, so it was cancelled. But we do still keep in touch. And finally, we decided to really meet up. I already had feelings for him before we met, so when we finally met, my heart skips a beat. But I tried to ignore my feelings, because he was divorced, my parents are very strict and they obviously won't approve this relationship. We chat till late, we had dinner and continue to a nearby cafe for another talk. And I found myself getting more attracted to him. I keep praying to God, if he is meant for me, then He will lead the way.

After the meeting, I encourage myself to ask him out for a movie. Thats our second meeting. During these periods, we always call till late nights, talking bout life and dreams and more. During August, I was facing a huge dillema, as my mom found out that somehow I have developed feelings for him and she does not approve us, I was so stressed, crying to my bestfriend and finally we decided to make a short getaway to Singapore to clear my head.

While in Singapore, we keep in touch, and my bestfriend (who is like a sister to me), she finally asked me the big question "answer me honestly, if he say he love u, will u accept him? With all his past and everything?" Without a doubt and without thinking I said "yes" and she was so surprised. So finally I've made up my mind, I chose him and I keep praying to God, if he is meant for me, then He will lead the way.

Things began to change between me and him, getting into September, he starts to act differently, he starts to show his care, his attention and even started to ask me on my thoughts about marriage. I begin to feel weird what is wrong with this guy. Though I admit, my feelings for him do grow stronger but i keep it to myself, I don’t even have the courage to tell my bestfriend about it. She once told me, when u r ready, pray to God and say "God, if he really is meant for me, please make him say something to me." Day passes by and he started to act more strangely, more care and more attention and then 11th Sept, in the afternoon, he text me and say "u know wad, I actually want to tell u something,but later when we call" and I thought he was only going to tell me about his friend,but he text me again not to go home late that night and so I'm getting frustrated and I pray "God, please stop joking around will u? If he is really meant for me, please show me a sign and make him say something to me.." so the night comes, its our call time and I asked him what was he going to tell me, at first he keep avoiding saying that he forgot what it is, then denying and avoiding and finally after the umpteenth attempt, he finally said "so, after a lot of thinking, I really like ur personality, ur attitude. U know my past very well and yet u never judge me. U r very humble. U know that after what I went through, it is not easy for me to open up my heart again. But I have prayed to God, and I just want to say that I chose u, I chose u to be in my life, to be my partner in life and yes, I love you" and I was frozen in shock, and finally I was laughing and he is confused why I laughed and then I cried.(at that moment he might think that I'm crazy) but I was caught off guard, I didn't expect this at all. And then I told him, "u know what? I love u too.. I was laughing and crying because I just prayed to God this afternoon, if u r really meant for me then He will make u say something to me, then this happens now. I'm just so surprised." And so 12th September 2019 marked as the day when we began our Relationship.

We began the relationship behind the scene, we decided not to tell anyone yet until we are both ready. Every Tuesdays and Fridays, we went to bible study together and pray together, and finally, we confessed to my bestfriend almost a month into our relationship but we still go behind my parents back. But we keep praying to God to lead us and open our way. We keep our faith strong.

5th October 2019, early morning at 5am, in the car on our way to the airport, me and my mom are flying to Bali for my sister's wedding. She suddenly says "hey, if u r already in a relationship with the guy (1st guy), its okay, but just don't rush into things yet, introduce him to me first then to ur dad,after ur sister's wedding" and I was... "what?!" And in my head "how did she find out, what the.. how..what?" Again I was in shocked.

I guess it was early November, then me and him and my bestfriend and her husband we arranged to introduce him to my mom, and somehow my mom give her approval and tell him to come to our house next week to meet my dad and I was again in shocked. And meeting my dad was easier than I thought, everything went very well. And not long after that, we already start to talked about weddings and everything and both of our family decided to meet up on 22nd December 2019, where his brother in law represents his family to ask my parents to asked me to be their daughter in law. And after both parents happily shaking hand and everything and suddenly he drank his tea, pushes his chair and I was "where are u going?" And he got on one knee and ask my hand in marriage, an of course I said YES!

Days passes by, both our parents went along really well, they chat among one another, my parents love him very much and his parents love me very much too and we decided to have our Wedding on 29th November 2020. We have decided our venue, our vendors and even location for prewed photos and Covid-19 happens. And we are forced to postpone our wedding until 20th March 2020. I was sad and angry to God, why does this happen. I was often told, only God knows the best for us, if He postpone something then there must be a good reason behind it.

A lot of things happened in between, his relationship with his business partner getting worse, and finally they split up. And somehow, this is where God's work happen, don't know how, don't know why, somehow, with both of our parents blessing, we both decided to build a business together. Starting up a company is not easy and this happen so fast between May to August, we have to be ready with the location,office, license and many more and finally, TIS is officially operating on 20th August 2020.

Along the way, God really has open up His way for us. Before we even officially open, and the products are not even ready yet, only a few samples in hand, we already have a few strong and amazing leaders who believed in our product, our company and our system and even before we open, 500 boxes of our products have been booked. God is good, His plan is wayyyyyy beyond our plan. And with this, I thought, now I know why God made us postpone our Wedding, coz if we are starting a business and planning a wedding, I will definitely become a bridezilla.

Long story short, the moral of this story is, have Faith in Him, for only He knows what and when is best for us, for His plan is the best for us. We always grateful to God for his guidance throughout our relationship and now as a business partner as well. Have faith and do things with a good heart and God will open the way. We are so blessed and grateful to God for His blessing upon us, without Him, none of these will ever happen.

Keep praying with a clean heart, have a strong Faith in Him and Believe in Him, for what is impossible for us, is possible to God.

Wednesday 6th Sept – One Direction: Louis Centric Could you do a louis centric where he’s the youngest (like highschool and early twenties) and the boys are brothers. All the boys are having a movie night at home while Louis is a footie. Louis hurts his ankle really bad and calls the boys to pick him up but they tell him to walk home. Then he finally gets home about 2 hours later where the boys yell at him so he runs to his coach’s (Paul) house who takes him to the hospital and the boys come and apologize and fluff. My birthday is September 3.

Saturday 9th Sept – Teen Wolf: Isaac Centric - Can you do a Teen wolf oneshot where Isaac is the packs puppy and no one ever knew he is abused by his dad. He was turned but they don’t know. And then slowly they begin to notice the bruises and flinches. Then one day they have a family dinner and invite everyone’s parents and his fathers comes. Isaacs father is really mean to him and Isaac drops a glass so he hits him in front of everyone. Then they all kick his father out and fluff. My birthday is September 4th. Thanks!

Wednesday 13th Sept – 5sos: Luke Centric - The guys are all separated by there own different vacation bresks. Luke the only one to stay in la at the time. Luke gwts in a bad car wreck and the guys alll individually y’s find out from friends and they try to hurry to their little brother side to help him hope he wakes up when he does wake up in his release they’re there to take care of him till he’s better bday sept 12th please

Saturday 16th Sept – Stereo Kicks: Reece Centric - My birthday is September 15. Reece centric where he’s the youngest. Lately the boys have been ignoring him and pushing him or being mean to him. So he begins to go to only the young to get help with homework and they notice the bruises. Then one day he comes in for homework and he has sever broken bones so they take him to the hospital. The boys get called and oty gets mad and won’t let them near him. Then fluff at the end? Thanks

"The Feds Got Instagram Dummy" Twelfth Murdaland Mafia defendant pleads guilty

When Dontray Johnson visited Dante Bailey at the Baltimore County jail and told him he had killed fellow gang member Brian "Nutty B" Johnson for refusing to pay gang dues, Bailey approved.

"I told you about this," the leader of the Murdaland Mafia Piru (MMP) said, according to a wiretapped conversation included in a second superseding federal indictment of the Baltimore-based Bloods gang set that was quietly unsealed in June. "Blow a fucking head off! Blow another nigga's head off! I said I'm through. . . . Don't play with 'em. Make 'em scared!"

Johnson assured Bailey that he was on collection duty and would continue to instruct members to "kick that money out."

Brian Johnson, 29, was at the gang's headquarters, a BP gas station on the 5200 block of Windsor Mill Road, on Sept. 29, 2015, when Dontray Johnson shot him in the chest. It was not Dontray Johnson's first murder, according to the indictment: On Nov. 22, 2012, Johnson had killed another fellow Murdaland Mafia member, Antoine "Poopy" Ellis, 23, on Bailey's orders.

Ellis was the 198th murder in Baltimore that year.

After shooting Ellis, Johnson posted on his Facebook page: "198 n risen."

The vignettes are two of dozens in the indictment depicting beatings, shootings, and murders carried out with work-a-day nonchalance amid constant deals to buy and sell heroin and cocaine. Baltimore police confirm that the two murders described above were "closed by exception" in June when federal prosecutors unsealed the superseding indictment.

Three others were also closed in the wake of the federal case, which was announced last September with the indictment of 24 gang members.

Delante "Tay Tay" Lee pleaded guilty in federal court on Sept. 18 to dealing heroin and trying to kill a rival drug dealer, and to accidentally shooting himself as he reholstered his gun on Jan. 8, after chasing the rival (identified only by the initials "B.W." in the plea agreement) into traffic and shooting him in the arm.

Lee was the 12th MMP member or associate to plead guilty in the case. The group operated for years from the gas station, which lent them the nickname "5200 Boys" and, the feds assert, gave them easy access to customers driving into Baltimore on I-70.

The gas station was a notorious hotspot for shootings, beatings, and other mayhem before the city closed it under its nuisance ordinance in June of 2016.

"When you have gun-toting drug dealers who take over this gas station as if it's their sovereign piece of property, it's our responsibility to take action, and that's what we're doing," Police Commissioner Kevin Davis said at the time.

Yet the case has gotten little attention since then, even as gang members have copped to plea deals and details have emerged in court about the group's crimes. Lee faces up to life in prison but most of the defendants so far have gotten between 10 and 15 years.

The gang, allegedly formed by Dante Bailey in 2010, controlled multiple drug shops in North and West Baltimore, and extracted tribute from other dealers, according to the indictment.

Bailey was obsessed with Italian Mafia language and tradition, according to the second superseding indictment, and was rapping under the name "Gutta" and "Gutta Almighty." Bailey (who also called himself "Wolf") can still be seen on YouTube waving guns around, fanning currency, driving his Audi, and rapping.

According to the second superseding indictment, Bailey himself shot James Maurice "Bangout" Edwards, a subordinate in the gang, on the 300 block of Collins Avenue on Feb. 12, 2015.

His lawyers did not respond to City Paper's requests for comment.

The indictment alleges that Bailey and Jamal Lockley killed Anthony Hornes, a 34-year-old African-American man, on April 28, 2016, because they believed (incorrectly) that Hornes was responsible for the murder of fellow MMP member Maurice "Mookie" Braham. The indictment also says Bailey ordered the murder of Ricardo Johnson, a 47-year-old African-American man who was found dead in the back of a minivan in Westport on Aug. 10, 2016.

According to the feds, Sydni Frazier and at least one co-conspirator abducted, bound, and murdered Johnson, then tried to burn the body. Later that same day, Frazier fled from police, flinging two handguns from his vehicle, the indictment says.

A Baltimore Police spokesman says the department cleared that homicide by Frazier's arrest. State court records indicate that Frazier was previously charged with illegal gun possession in Dec. 2014, with the case dropped in May 2015.

When the federal indictment was announced, the ATF agent in charge asserted that federal grand juries had, in the previous 17 days, indicted 51 people responsible for 25 murders and 36 non-fatal shootings.

"Our goal is to make this the last Bloods case," then-U.S. Attorney for Maryland Rod Rosenstein told reporters. "Most shootings in Baltimore are committed by drug dealers, and conspiracy cases get their attention. We can reduce violence by prosecuting members of gangs that foment violence."

Since then, 342 people have been murdered in Baltimore.

The indictment and related plea deals open a window into Baltimore's crime wave. One member of the gang, Melvin "Menace" Lashley, allegedly bragged about assaulting Bobby Shmurda, a Brooklyn-based rapper "associated with the rival Crips gang," according to the indictment. Shmurda took a seven-year plea deal in federal court in Manhattan last fall in a rather infamous case covered extensively in a sympathetic GQ profile which asked, "does the justice system fundamentally misunderstand the world of rap?"

Lashley pleaded guilty on May 23 to racketeering and drug-dealing and was scheduled for sentencing on Aug. 29, but the sentencing was cancelled and his lawyer withdrew from the case.

The indictment also alleges that, in 2015, Bailey formed the "Black Blood Brotherhood," an alliance with other gangs, mainly the Black Guerrilla Family, "as an efficient market for contract killings." The feds allege that, "for instance, if a BGF leader wanted someone killed, he might pay Bailey to subcontract the murder to a subordinate of MMP, or vice-versa. By contracting out murders to members of other gangs, Bailey and other gang leaders made it more difficult for law enforcement to solve murders and apprehend those responsible."

According to the indictment, Bailey and fellow gang member Randy Banks burglarized Hopkins Beauty Supply on the 1700 block of Pennsylvania Avenue during the April 28, 2015 riot.

In June of that year, Bailey uploaded a 10-minute music video called 'White America' which appends political rhetoric to his drug dealing come-up.

"I own the night," he raps, shirtless, in the first section. "I'm up early."

The video then switches to scenes from the Baltimore Uprising, with Martin Luther King in voiceover:

"The time has come for America to hear the truth about this tragic war."

Then it cuts again, with Bailey outside in a crowd, rapping about another million-man march: "Black power, bitch, I'm the fuckin' last Don. Fuck the police. They ain't scarin' us. It's a pop song what's up White America?" Then: "I feel like Malcolm X, getting by any means, I'm gon' fulfill my dreams . . . like Dr. King."

On July 21, 2015 Bailey called an associate in the Baltimore City Detention Center, ordering him to punish a gang member who was thought to be cooperating with law enforcement.

"You supposed to slap the shit out shorty. . . . Punish that nigga!" he said, according to the indictment. When the other man agreed to assault the target, Bailey replied, "I got you, I'll send you a money order. . . . Destroy that nigga, yo!"

The next day, Bailey and Dominick "Fish" Kane were with a third man (called an unindicted co-conspirator in the indictment) at their BP gas station headquarters, when they tried to murder another man and ended up in a shootout.

Bailey spoke to the other man, identified only as L.S., while Kane and the other crew member snuck up to L.S.'s vehicle and shot L.S. several times. But L.S.'s boys then roared up in another vehicle, guns blazing, hitting Maurice "Reece" Pollock and Brian "Nutty B" Johnson—the man Dontray Johnson would kill in September.

Gang members talked about the shootout on wiretapped phones, the indictment says. They weren't especially careful on social media either, uploading pictures, videos, and other evidence the feds found useful: On July 27, William Banks texted Bailey, "The Feds got Instagram dummy u know that."

On July 29, 2015, Bailey was arrested and held without bail in the Baltimore County jail, charged with drug dealing. He stayed inside through the spring of 2016, and the feds say he was recruiting new gang members in the jail.

The indictment says federal agents seized papers from one of Bailey's prospects, in which Bailey explained that the gang was 25 percent Piru Bloods and 75 percent Mafia, which he called "our bloodline."

Bailey, who earned a seven-year federal prison sentence in 2004 for being a felon with a gun, also recounted the history of the MMP gang, beginning with its creation on March 2, 2009, when "Bad Guy," who was an "OOOG of TTP," set out "to separate the real brothers from the fake" after "the Don of Tree Top told the Feds on his brothers."

Bailey continued: "In 2010, Bad Guy & Wolf [Bailey's name for himself] finally reunited in USP [penitentiary] Lee County & the structure of the MOBB was put into effect… Bad Guy & Wolf made history together for the MOBB by smashing the New York & New Jersey Blood sets in USP Lee, sending a message to the Bloods on the East Coast that we, Murdaland Mafia, run Murdaland."

Bailey explained that by 2012, "Mobsters had taken over Baltimore drug corners including Greenmount and Ilchester, 27th and Boone, Lauretta & Warwick & part of North & Pulaski." He wrote about the bits of ink flair members could earn: an "M" tattoo for taking the mafia oath, a lightning bolt for murdering on behalf of the gang, a pink rose for "Mafia wife," a "badge of honor" for a "made man," a "wolf imprint" for "direct descendant of Werewolf, who has killed," and a "Mafia shield" for "Capo of the MOBB."

On April 4, 2016, Bailey made bail. Three weeks later, at 7:38 p.m. on a Thursday night, Maurice "Mookie" Braham, an MMP member, was gunned down on the 4700 block of Gwynn Oak Avenue. At his funeral, on May 9, the gang draped a red MMP banner over his casket, and, after the viewing, Bailey hung a diamond-studded necklace bearing the letter "M" around his dead comrade's neck.

The superseding indictment alleges that on May 17, 2016, in addition to having 94 grams of heroin for sale, Bailey had "an autobiographical screenplay featuring members of MMP and describing acts of violence very similar to ones MMP members are known to have carried out."

The feds also claim to have an undated letter Bailey allegedly wrote to a made member of the gang. It warns the man, who is not named, that he "failed to follow the protocol" and that Bailey would be watching him for the next 90 days to make sure he staffs-up his crew with the required underboss, capo, and lieutenant, and kisses all their cheeks to signify that they are each also "made men."

In a postscript to this letter, according to the indictment, Bailey wrote, "Fuck this case. No matter what happens, I'll still be a legend."

At approximately 3am on the 13th Sept 2016, Pam was being raped and assaulted, so I drove there at approx 100km per hour in each street and sat out front of her house. Immediately as I turned the engine off, 3 cars arrived.

One pulled into a driveway 35m down the street the house number was 121 or 123 pam’s street (for some reason my note said TA 121/123). 17th August 2018 0057 hours Entered the Muriel St car park of Hornsby Westfield, and there were two vehicles parked in the southern bays opposite Extreme clean. I have no problem with this if this is the bikies, and caused no problem the previous Sunday.
