Hello, I hope im not bothering you, but I can't help and ask. I know you said you had thoughts and to wait the end of the season, but not gonna lie, I feel suckered punched. I tried not to have hope, but still after all the promos ( I know most of them weren't official, but still...) and I wanted to know your opinion/feeling about it all. Im also using this ask to tell you that your posts and tags make me smile a lot, so I also wanted to thank you for that it gave me company in this fandom even thought I dont dare and reach out except now...

Okay, darling, first of all, thank you, I'm happy I can be a positive presence in the fandom for you. Second, I'm gonna be as diplomatic as I can here. One, I think some reactions the fandom has don't need to reach the people they are about, and it is shitty to put an actor in that type of position, even more when not something he said. Second, I think Ryan proved why he was in pr jail, because, well, they are in damage control mode, because considering the way queerbaiting is leading people to believe there will be a romantic relationship when that was never the plan, and like it or not, the things Ryan said paired with the new things that have been said, could be read as queerbaiting. Please notice I said could. We are dealing with an ongoing story, so anything is a possibility. Buddie is in the middle. I think contextually they make sense together, but I also think that they wrote themselves into a corner. I made a whole post about that you can read all my thoughts here, but the short version is that the stakes are too high. They can't not know the potential love story they have on their hands, BUT the potential they have of being one of the best slowburns in television makes it that much harder to actually write that payoff if there wasn't a plan in place and they accidentally did that by playing off of Oliver and Ryan's chemistry. They did establish Buck and Eddie as family, and yes, their bond is stronger than one would expect of two best friends, but while I think it would be unsatisfying, leaning into the family angle without making it romantic will always be a possibility. One of the logistical problems with getting Buck and Eddie together is that, unlike bathena and madney, they work together, so you either need to get one of them out of the 118 or you need to acknowledge their relationship every episode they are both in, and that is complicated in a show with 7 main characters. There's also the issue that the foundation they have laid out for buddie doesn't really allow for them to use the usual tricks to keep slowburns interesting because most shows tend to have issues with slowburns once the tension is resolved, and the build-up with buddie is high. Whether the build-up was intentional or not, you can recontextualize the show to make it seem like this has been building, it's what allowed me to write 4k words on how Eddie has been in love with Buck since 2x04 just by playing with the perspective around them. And you can very easily do the same with Buck. That kind of expectation is not good since it's not the buddie show. The show is not only about Buck and Eddie, but to put buddie in situations as an established couple could make the show about them because, since they are always together, there will be an expectation around showing them being a couple all of the time that they might not know how to work with because there isn't really another television couple that would fit in their category. Even if we compare them to shows like castle, the mentalist, bones, the couple are the main characters, so it's okay if the couple is taking away from the rest of the show, and honestly, all 3 of those shows kinda tanked their own build-up for a while there. And Buck and Eddie literally have a legal document binding them together, for all intents and purposes they have a child together, and they are best friends, so there's this expectation around them if they ever get to be a couple that they will be a good couple. You can't have them fumbling around much in the way other slowburns do because they are solid. So there's also the issue of keeping them interesting because television writers don't like letting couples have peace.

Sure there are issues you can place on buddie to "spice things up" if they think they got boring resolving the tension, like playing with the sexuality angle, or the abandonment issues Buck, Eddie, and even Chris have, but they are not things you can really drag out. They work in the immediate aftermath of them getting together, but then they would have to get creative and they probably don't know how to get there. But why am I talking about the logistics of the couple in the big picture? Well, I think Ryan has been playing Eddie as at least a little bit in love with Buck the whole time he's been playing Eddie, my main argument for that is that he has the same reactions for Buck that he had for Shannon (post on that here), so Ryan could very much just gotten comfortable and said his interpretation of Eddie's feelings for Buck without it being something he was explicitly told. Both Ryan and Oliver said Buck and Eddie are getting closer this season, so "trying to give the people what they want" could very much just be what Ryan himself is trying to do with the text he's being given. It could be that the marketing team didn't think the fans would react to what he said like that and that's why he was allowed to say it. They could be backtracking because Buck and Eddie are getting together and what Ryan said would be a spoiler. Or they could be baiting us to raise the ratings. Every angle here is possible. We only watched one episode of the season so far. We don't know where the story is going yet. It could be going anywhere. It could be going somewhere. Maybe by the end of the season, we will have something explicitly canon on buddie. Maybe they fucked up and the people calling queerbaiting will be somewhat justified because, honestly, I'm getting teen wolf cons flashbacks here. I do think it's fucked up that people are expecting Oliver to deal with something Ryan said. I do think emotions are running high because of many things that happened in the past 2 weeks. I don't think it is fair to scream queerbaiting yet. But I do unfortunately think we might get there if they keep raising the stakes between Buck and Eddie on the show with no payoff while letting Ryan say things like the things he's been saying. For me, the important thing to remember is that the story is in the middle, we don't know where the show is gonna take Buck and Eddie individually and together, so I think everyone needs to take a breath and stop acting like the show already ended and wait to see where it's gonna go.

so let me start off by saying i forgot if i joined in the past, so i was waiting to have time to attempt to join. i want to show a screenshot of this ask that perfectly displays the date i received this so the muns cannot act as though i set up the group or were targeting them by sending myself this ask, or whatever else they may say cause idk them, they seem catty asf when called out (you'll see in the screenshots) and wanna cover my bum because i know one of their muns will probably see this - show it to them, and then it'll be a thing~ so...

i started to look around the rp. around the time i got this anon, it seems they were struggling with diversity... and weren't nice with their responses, nor did they make any sense?

^i mean.... *slow clap* way to respond to an anon trying to voice a problem with GLOATING about your initial app count (almost all white).

^fun, it gets better. so.... like.... what? no one is forcing anyone? if someone doesn't want to be a diverse fc, they just wouldn't apply for a second character rather than a third, if they were to tweak it to the second chara rather than the third? it's almost like they're coming up with an excuse for having their rp being white-focused. As it is, the admins brought in mostly white fcs; admin bex having brought in two white fcs (maya hawke & elizabeth gillies) before finally bringing in an aisha dee character (2/3 of their charas WHITE), admin dani has natasha liu bordizzo, daisy edgar jones, florence pugh, chase sui wonders, olivia cooke (3/5 of her characters WHITE), admin kell has zendaya, samantha logan, madelyn cline, axel auriant, tom holland, timothee chalamet (4/6 of their characters are WHITE). altogether, 9/14 admin characters are WHITE - only 5/14 are PoC... way to set the tone for your own group, and then having the AUDACITY to tell an anon you're looking forward to seeing who THEY'D add to YOUR diversity? uhhhhh maybe you should do that yourself and show people you're for diversity? lmfaoooooo diversity isn't solely on your players... but, then again - they obviously don't care judging by their response. "invisible quota" damnnnn the privilege is strrrooonngggg. i didn't even check all the players' characters cause i feel as though i'd only be more angry/upset; but just by judging off of the admin stats - the players are probably at the same rate... i did only get 3/4 of the way down the females list and it's mostly white fcs... so.....

so, if you search their blog they get asks about the group being cliquey or not kinda frequently. i think more than they post tbh cause they're a bigger group. uh, i attempted to join today to see if that were true (even was gonna take up a wc to see if it would help me), and they're really strict on occupations, alone? like... kinda bizarre but they have a set occupations list, you can only apply as one of those or you have to run the occupation by the admin staff if it's not 'vague' enough? weird. controlling, even.

^i, in fact, did NOT understand. there's more to an aquarium than keepers..... idk, the admin team just screamed snarky and controlling at this point, so i didn't join and just decided to put this out there as an honest opinion on my part. ALSO - controlling that you need to change your name/alias to join the group if someone else shares a name with you :) LOVE being told I have to CHANGE MY NAME. LMFAOOOO TF?

also, just as a note: they spam the rp tags. their 2 months of running as a group was back in MARCH and they're still using 'new rp' as a tag... lmfao - y'all have 40 muns, open for over 3 months now, and STILL calling yourselves NEW? you're established at this point. also, their promos clog up the tags - i just had to block their promo blog cause it was all i could see.

BOTTOM LINE:

no care for diversity

rude/catty admins

lack of creative freedom for writers

basically a spam blog

Why would you read and nitpick the words of someone you profess to despise and hate so much, as soon as he posts them?/ There is something called maddiction, an addiction to righteous outrage. "The more outraged we are at others, the purer we feel. The purer we feel, the more we assume it's our duty to be outraged at others." For these people outrage at someone else's failings evaporates all recollection of their similar failings. When outraged, they feel righteous which leads to more outrage.

Anon 2: I don't like a bunch of celebrities for various reasons, >> Me too. I have some accounts blocked because I don't care what they do. I was in a session with a psychoanalyst, and this woman started to report the problem she had with a person at work, and he said that she needed to pay attention to what she said, his behavior did not affect her life and the work. She had to wonder why it bothered her so much? Seb haters need to know why they care so much about him.

Anon 3: I have yet to see a misstep of his that makes me think it was malicious intent on his end, but I have definetly come to terms with the fact that he's seemingly lacking quite some awareness and foresight (and his team too, apparently). // My thoughts exactly. I think his missteps come more from naiveté and ignorance than malice, and his PR team – who should be the ones to look out for that – doesn't help at all.

Anon 5: with receipts of them hyping up Elvis, Ana de armas’ in blonde, Lizzie olsens HBO >> False activism. Most don't care what they complain about, they're furious that Seb received an Emmy nomination. If they cared, they wouldn't be pretending to support a woman who said the Playboy guy didn't exploit women.

Anon 6: What’s iffy to me is putting the worst possible interpretation on a simple tag// anon, Pamela made it clear she wants nothing to do with this series and still he decided to tag her. How would you feel if the worst moment of your life was being played again for millions of people. You keep excusing everything Seb does and refuse to treat him like an adult that makes his own decisions. This whole thing proves he does not care who he hurts as long as it gets him more fame and money.

Anon 7: For me the issue is the lack of awareness to say that the show is about denouncing lack of consent while at the same time violating the consent of the main victim. Seb makes it worse with his post, especially by tagging Pam. I really hope that the Emmy nom was worth it because this project has made a lot of people look at him in a negative light and it might hinder his career in the long run.

Anon 8: All these people who are painting Pam as the victim don’t realise that she herself doesn’t care for ‘victims’. During the Harvey Weinstein case, she straight up blamed the women for the assaults and idk what to call this awful behaviour. Of course what happened to her was terrible, but no need to paint her as a saint. Also she still has a good relationship with Tommy as far as we know.

Anon 9: I watched P&T and I kindda understand why he wrote and tag Pam in recent his IG post. The show was about Pam and Tommy was not a good person but he was also a person who loved Pam. I assume ppl who complaint didn’t watch the show so they will not understand and I got it. And refer to Reddit post, it the same user who seem to cancel or witch hunt Seb. They post negatively about Seb many time. So it was just a hate post, nothing interesting there.

Anon 11: The staircase too. The family said they were traumatized again by the series. No one is sending hate to the series. / The Staircase would be a good example if you necessarily want to be "outraged" by a show inspired by real life events. It was a murder - which, whatever you might say, is more serious than a sex tape -, the family is against it, and, what is worse, they tried to contact the family after filming the series. However, never in a million years would cross my mind to hate the actors.

Anon 12: "I get what he was trying to say, he just used to many words to convey it." Look, he knows he's not winning. This was his one last chance to really thank everyone involved and to again direct people to what he thought was important about the show. He did, and if you honestly believe mentioning Pam or tagging her is some huge deal that deserves cancelling him again instead of a kind, inclusive gesture toward her, there's something very, very wrong with you.

Lady Danger - This project will not hinder fuck all in his career. He is not the first actor or actress to be in a controversial project and he won’t be the last. If you do not like him for whatever reason:

The accept noise sounds off and a flash of white hits you.

You blink, groan from the intensity of the flash...And find yourself in a void like space. It's dark blue and black, and figures look at you from pillars leading to nowhere.

Wh-What? What just happened?

"Why, Hello there!"

You spin around and see...Sonic. But it's not Sonic. Instead of sonic's face, it has a creepy, mask like, smiling face with a wide grin and large empty eyes. You shiver. It's so...off.

"Came in from the Sound test, huh? Curiosity really gets at you, doesn't it?"

The creature holds out a gloved hand to you.

"Nice to meet ya! I'm Majin Sonic! Feel free to Call me Majin or Ji. Feel free to stay as long as you'd like! ...I only have one warning. "

The creature's aura grows dim and dark, and intimidating. Your body fills with the weight of dread. Their expression, while still holding a smile, seems foreboding. And frightening.

"Stay close to me, and do NOT wander off without me. Understand?"

You nod in fright, and the shadow lifts from the creature's face.

Sparrow Five is basically confirmed at this point (link from @swaglorde in a reblog so it shows up in tags) which, in my opinion, confirms that the siblings are going to be in the hotel.

Christopher Hargadon, TUA costume designer, has confirmed a slight deviation in Five's costume for Season 3. This speaks perfectly to Five changing into another school uniform, which plays with the Sparrow pin on Five's uniform in the s2 promo image, and the evil Five tease from Aidan.

He also said he'd seen a script from s3, and confirmed on his insta that he's headed to Toronto to work on s3 (thank you @anglophile-rin).

So Five is with the Sparrows, God knows the others (except, I'm hanging my hat on this, Vanya) aren't. Where are they? Out of Reggie's hair. The hotel that Blackman (the showrunner) posted is closed right now, the Sparrow crest has a lock on it.

This brings me to themes. I think it's gonna be about roles, and it's gonna be a bit more horror. They're all wearing black at the end of s2, and it's a pretty bleak ending. The hotel itself is a pretty horrific idea. I think it's gonna be 1234 breaking out and then rescuing 567 (who in the past have been the rescuers).

Quick rundown of what I expect from each individual plot:

I think Luther and Diego are gonna continue their bonding, because I think in a way they balance each other out. Diego is insane hero complex, Luther is insane follower complex. I think they can bring each other to a Good Normal Person With Normal Motives level. Luther learning to love himself, and Diego loving his family of course.

Allison has lost fucking everything, so I think she's gonna go dark too, while using her powers more. I think we'll explore Allison's role as a mother, by exploring that gaping absence. Claire is gone. Allison's big thing is she doesn't know when to quit. She also spent last season doing real activism and I think that'll play into it. She'll do whatever she can to get what she wants, and see it as heroism (and be, complexly, right as she's fixing the timeline). I think this'll tie into Klaus a bit, too.

Klaus in s3 is gonna be externalizing his internal chaos, finding who he is when he's alone, exploring his powers, being angry, feeling shit, and I hope this is all in service OF the team so they have to value him as a person in order to save him from himself. I think that'd be far more interesting than him being against them (although I'd like A BIT of that. A bit of him threatening them and fighting with them and stuff. Maybe after they realize he's gone too far, and him feeling like he can't win. Like they don't like it when he's useless and apathetic, they don't like it when he's too much).

Five, Sparrow, is gonna be manipulated by Reg who he seems to think is always right and not an idiot. I think he has to get past that. I think he also has to learn to take things slow, share his emotions, find himself, and not deal with an apocalypse.

Ben, Ben is a new character so it's complex but I think he's gonna get saved in the way Lila was saved by a Five and Vanya who are going through some shit of their own, ultimately helping them with the good that exists at his core.

And Vanya is gonna sort through her anger, her envy, her hurt, and the difficulty of being a hero. Not so fun, is it V? But also her heart, seeing the hurt of Five, and Ben, and the Sparrows

Yugiri's smile is everything. She has so many of them and they all mean different things. When she's relaxed, when she's excited, when she's confused, when she has no clue what's going on but everyone else is happy so she's happy, when she's relieved, when she's proud... She has so many different smiles and if Tumblr didn't have the 10 image rules, I would absolutely gush about every single one of them in detail. Unfortunately, if I do that, all of those posts will probably be eaten out of the tag, so instead, here are my top 10 favorite Yugiri smiles so far, images included. (Pre-Revenge episode 9)

10. Season One, Episode 2: The First Smile/ 9. Season One, Episode 10: The Sentimental Smile

Episode 2 is the first time we ever see Yugiri smile. Before this, she seemed relatively nonplussed or generally disinterested in pretty much everything going on. Even though she was in a different time period with complete strangers and a madman demanding her to be something she has no knowledge of, she was fairly calm. Then the first time we see her smile, it's when she sees something completely familiar. Her own face. Not only that, but she directs that smile toward the character that is going to become basically her little sister. The first one means so much and it's so important.

Within the same vein, her smile to Kotaro in episode 10 is one during an emotionally heavy moment. It's the first time he's hit an actual snag in his plans. Sakura's singular focus on the Arpino show rather than on the bigger picture of the group as a whole would have been a massive roadblock had she not realized her mistake.

Yugiri is the only one who properly realizes the reason they were sent into the mountains in the first place. Instead of simply sitting on the information, she's proactive about it and actually goes to discuss the problem with Kotaro. She wants to understand his reasoning so that she might be able to help him. And when she turns toward him, she also gives him the observations she's witnessed throughout her new life. This smile may be low on my list of favorites, but it's still unbelievably important.

...Also, when they released the preview image of this smile, my brain short-circuited for ten minutes, so it had to make it onto the list regardless.

8. Season Two, Episode One: The Professional Smile

This smile isn't much out of the ordinary for what we've come to expect of Yugiri, but it's on here because this was our first look at Yugiri after basically two years of very little. None of us knew how the group would come back, how the writing team had incorporated the unexpected pandemic, how things would play out, or what would be happening. The Promo showed Tae's hand flying off to knock off Sakura's head, but as 2018 displayed, the promos can't always be trusted. This showed that, even in this new world where she's only been awake for a year, she's putting her skills to use and working just as hard as the others. Thanks to the conversation from Episode 10 of the first season, we know she was trained as a geisha which would make service work much easier than it would be for the other girls.

I don't have too much to say on this one, to be honest. I do like that she's in softer lighting, as opposed to the others who were all surrounded by harsh lighting on their season two introductions. The softer lighting lends itself well to the lack of pigment and coloration in the girls' makeup, allowing Yugiri to look like she has some color, even if she still looks somewhat pale and tired. It doesn't give her quite the same sickly look the others have at their jobs. The red dress? 100/10. Perfect decision.

7. Season One, Episode Five: The Proud Smile

SHE. DOES. GYMNASTICS. She has every right to this smile! I did the math for this specific part of the episode and Yugiri got third place. The judges liked her rope aerobics so much, they shot her all the way to third place even though her distance was zero meters. It wouldn't have gotten her interviewed, but it would have at least put Franchouchou at the forefront. I still applaud Tae snagging first place, but Yugiri deserves some praise. She really did go face first into the mud on a bike and said, "Never again." She's so proud of herself. I'll be gushing about the actual gymnastics part in a different post a little later, too, but she definitely deserves to be proud of herself. I'm really gay...

6. Season One, Episode Four: The Cute Smile

Originally, this was just going to be me doing some keysmash version of a squeal or something, but there's something I'd like to draw attention to. I'm pretty sure that, by this point, Franchouchou only knows two songs. Yomigaere, which was supposed to be performed in episode 2, and Mezame Returner, which is what's being performed here. Of these two, Yugiri has more experience with this one, but from what the audience had been shown, it wasn't good experience.

Memorizing the lyrics would have been the easy part for her. It's that a good portion of the dance practice was also spent helping Lily get the steps down and potentially calming her frustrations. Then the performance itself would have been a complete disaster if Junko and Ai hadn't gotten over themselves at the last minute to finally help.

This is the first successful performance of Mezame Returner we're witnessing and it's clear the group's had more practice since then. You can see how excited and happy Yugiri is here because this one is actually going well. They had a bit more time to prepare, the two lead roles were actually involved this time, and the audience also was clearly enjoying the performance. She's so happy and it's just so heart-warming to see. Yes, even with the CGI. Don't @ me, she looks adorable.

5. Season One, Episode Seven: The Sassy Smile

This one also was just going to be a squealing keysmash thing, but again, I have something to point out. Look how much more confident she is now that Junko and Ai have, once again, gotten over themselves. Yugiri sees the effect that Junko stepping in had on the others and just like the rest of the group, her movements are more relaxed and free.

It's more obvious, actually, if you look at the way the other girls are moving directly after Junko helps Ai up in comparison to how Yugiri is moving. She did a spin while waiting for Sakura and Lily to finish their segment, and she could be cheeky during her own. She sensed that the tension had mostly dissolved and because of that, she allowed herself to relax and could properly throw herself into the performance. When she throws out this smile and wink, it's not actually directed at the audience. It's Yugiri telling the others that they've got this without breaking the performance.

4. Season Two, Episode Four: The Gentle Smiles

I put both of these here because Yugiri's just... so... caring? So much of what she does is passive that you don't realize just how much work she puts into relieving the stress from the other girls until long after the problem has been resolved.

In the first, she's speaking to Sakura. No doubt, Yugiri probably noticed how worried Sakura was about Junko. Even though Sakura was trying not to let the others catch on just how anxious she really was, Yugiri still knew that something was bothering Sakura as well as Junko. Yugiri knew that the key to easing Junko's mind lay in placating Sakura first. She's seen what happens to them all when they fall apart and she wants to avoid that at all costs. So, Yugiri lifts Sakura's spirits and gives her back the fire and determination to make a great performance.

In the second, Yugiri is watching Junko eat. Unlike the others, it's clear Yugiri knows that Junko is in much higher spirits than when last they saw her. Junko would likely have still been a stuttering, quivering mess otherwise, but she wasn't stuttering and her actions were purposeful and self-assured. Yugiri is very observant. She would have caught on that something had happened to make Junko feel better. What makes this smile even better is that she's not the least bit disappointed. The reason she made dinner was to help Junko, but she doesn't view the meal as a waste of time. She's so focused on other people, that she's happy Junko is feeling better at all and even offers her different platters to help keep her mood up.

These are high on the list for two reasons. One, they're a show of just how much Yugiri does for her girls. Two, YUGIRI COOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOKSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!! YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS HEADCANON CONFIRMED BITCHEEEESSS!!! I GOT ONE RIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIGHT!!!!!

3. Season Two, Episode Six: The Affectionate Smile

I will be completely honest, I have no idea why this one is as high as it is. I admit, I did spend three hours replaying this single thirty second scene because it's really sweet and Yugiri and Tae don't interact very often, so seeing Yugiri not only be worried for Tae, but also be immediately reassured that Tae would be fine was just something my heart didn't know it needed until it had it. The sheer level of affection Yugiri shows toward Tae is too adorable. Especially since Yugiri usually only has moments like those with Sakura and, to a lesser extent, Lily. This smile's really cute, it's in the middle of a wholesome scene, and it made me love both Yugiri and Tae that much more.

2. Season One, Episode Three: The Excited Smile

Once again, an entry that was going to be a simple squealing keysmash until I realized there was something to point out here as well. This is the first smile we ever see from Yugiri that's genuinely enthusiastic. She has plenty of them, especially during her performances, but this is our first time seeing her fully incorporate herself into the group as an actual member and actually look excited to do something with the others. This was an omen of adorable things to come and damn did it deliver.

Honorable Mentions.

I'm only going to touch on each of these briefly because to be honest, there are a LOT of smiles I could've picked.

The first one is from episode 6 when the group is talking about their very first meet-and-greet. Lily asks Yugiri if she's keeping up okay, and Yugiri remarks that she's taking things as they come. This was a small look into the kind of character she is. As I mentioned before, she's very passive in the way she operates, but that's to the benefit of those she cares for. This is her admitting that she doesn't want to be a problem and it's just sweet that even though Lily is worried about her, Yugiri's still highkey thinking about everyone else.

To the right is a shot of Yugiri during Electric Returner. This one is just the squealing keysmash because she looks so genuinely ecstatic, it's contagious. She's NO DAMN CLUE what happened or why they sound so different, but she is absolutely living her best second life.

The next shot comes from the beginning of Yomigaere and is somewhat of a repeat of the above. She's excited to perform for such a big crowd, she's glad Sakura finally agreed to actually participate, and she's living her best second life. Whoever animates Yugiri's CG model? I love you. I want to send you a gift basket. She's always so happy during performances.

Then comes her smile after the group finds out Sakura's memories are back. She's just glad Sakura, her Sakura, has come back to them, that she accepts her crap luck and is still willing to stay. For Yugiri, this goes under the list of Best Possible Outcomes. Her family is whole again and she's so relieved.

Last in the top row is the first full frontal shot we get of Yugiri in the Saga Jihen music video. She's so unbelievably adorable here. I wish I could've gotten her first expression, but the curtain was still rising and without photoshop, I'm not editing an image to the degree needed to get her whole face lightened. Point is, she's cute and everyone deserves to see her adorable face on the first song she got to be center for.

First on the bottom row is Yugiri looking apologetic from episode 8 of Revenge. She's so cute. It was an honest mistake and she had no way of knowing the paper belonged to Kiichi. No doubt, that was probably why she offered to help him rewrite them later.

Next is how cute she looks in big sister mode. She's wiping the mud from Kiichi's cheeks and is taking such care with him. Throughout the entire episode, she treats him like a little kid and it's likely because her role was big sister for so long that she doesn't know how not to treat him that way. It really does shed light on just how kind she is to everyone, though, that she doesn't even think about her dirty kimono and focuses on cleaning him up a little first.

Then we have her smiling at Kiichi as she remarks on how beautiful his dream of reviving Saga is. She even says she hopes it comes true. His dream means something to her. She can't even fully see it, he can't even fully see it, but they don't need to. What Itou didn't understand this whole time is something Yugiri understood immediately just from listening to Kiichi talk. They don't need to see it in their minds, all they need is to feel it in their hearts, and that's something Yugiri knows.

And lastly on the honorable mentions, because this post is already super long, Yugiri smiling while she's cooking for her guests. It was a tossup between this or the pinwheel because it's just really nice that Yugiri can simply enjoy mundane things. I chose this one because it's a direct contrast to how she was at the beginning. Before, she ate with a disinterested expression, but now, she's cooking for guests rather than just for herself. The lift in her mood is obvious, and it's something so small but so heartwarming, I couldn't resist.

I would've put the pinwheel moment anyway, but unfortunately, as a com major, formatting and design are everything and an extra picture on the top or bottom without a balancer would've thrown the whole thing off. Maybe next time.

NOW FOR NUMBER ONE

1. Season Two, Episode Eight: The Softest Smile

This should have been expected. There's something genuinely touching about the fact that Yugiri really does give her everything, even to complete strangers. These girls barely know her, everyone in town barely knows her, but because her dance students suggested Yugiri go out and actually experience, Yugiri gives it actual thought. She doesn't dismiss them, she doesn't deride them, she doesn't make them feel foolish or anything like that. She treats their suggestion the same way she would if it had come from a close friend. And she does actually take them up on it.

Later, we see her come into contact with Kiichi to demonstrate that even full-on strangers aren't exempt from her kind heart, but this means more. All we know is that these girls take Yugiri's dance class, and from the way they speak when we first meet them, it's clear Yugiri has a professional wall between herself and those she instructs. But she still treats them as she would the girls back in Shimabara. It's proof that, even in the past, Yugiri really was just as kind-hearted as in the present. It's a show don't tell kind of thing that just speaks so deeply to the writer in me. I love this smile. It's everything. Her smiles are everything. She's everything.

Sorry if this gets long, but I'm just so sick of the performative outrage and enthusiasm in the fandom. I feel awful for saying it because I don't want to come across like I want to discourage people from talking up poc-led projects and calling out industry racism, but it's become so clear that people are perfectly happy reblogging posts that are, like, complaining about T'Challa not being given hardly as much promo as Carter, or posts encouraging people to support Legend of The Ten Rings, but when it actually comes down to it people don't put any energy into actually supporting poc-led projects.

Like, after the Carter episode of What If there were tons and tons of text posts, gifs, memes, fanarts, etc. of the (all white!) characters from that episode, with 1000+ notes. But if you search T'Challa's tag or the Star Lord Tag or the What If tag it doesn't take long before you run out of new content for T'Challa's episode. And so many of those posts A) are about other characters played by white actors (Thaons mainly) or B) hardly have more than, like, 200 notes. Bless everyone who made content for T'Challa after the episode, honestly, y'all are so talented and deserve more notes than that. And I just get this horrible sinking feeling that the same thing is going to happen for Shang-Chi.

tl;dr people are perfectly happy reblogging posts that talk about supporting poc, but the (lack of) evidence for them actually following through with showing their support... speaks for itself.

You know I've tried answering this several times since you sent it in and every response seems hollow so I'm just gonna say I know exactly what you mean. read under the read more for some rambling.

I used to think that the reason PoC led projects had such little notes/attention/fanworks was because fans of color are generally too busy calling out fandom racism and just don't have the energy to deal with making fanworks. but then I noticed that those who were loudest calling out the fandom racism or racism in the media itself tended to get burned out quickly. and I know for a fact that many fans of color have had to leave fandom altogether because of the virulent hate they get. Like there's been so many that just disappear you know? Its hard because I wish more people were protected from the anon hate like this blog. (for those of you that don't know this blog only has 2k followers and like we hardly ever get hate but I know that our sister blog fhpoc had to turn off anon because they were getting too much hate ofc they have 8k followers).

I think that tumblr in particular is a very toxic place and the ability for anyone to interact with a post or a blog can be v taxing. I do think that discord and dreamwidth have the potential for being protected safe spaces but old habits die hard. (I have a dreamwidth but I haven’t joined more than two communities) yet I’ve been on tumblr for over a decade.

however the solution isn’t fans of color need to create more fanworks they’re trying and often their attention is divided between media criticism and calling out fandom racism with whatever energy they have left for fanworks. as a whole we’re talking about white fans picking up the slack calling each other out for fandom racism and boosting our call outs but also actually creating fan works for characters of color. like the resources are here already for white people and PoC to write with diversity. just check out writing with color and do your research. get some sensitivity readers... its just exhausting that white people even if they seem aware of their privilege and try to not be racist don’t actually know how to be anti racist. they’re far more scared of getting it wrong and are invested in keeping up the status quo than interested in actually helping us PoC succeed.

like I’ll give you an example. my best friend from highschool/college went on to study and major in anthropology. despite this I still have to deal with tirades about how mean afrolatinx people were being to lin manuel miranda about In the Heights. and like I tried (albeit over text so it was extra hard) to properly explain how lmm managed to lightwash/whitewash dominican americans and make the majority of the actors in the movie nonblack latinx. eventually for the sake of getting out of the roundabout we seemed to be stuck in I just gave up and changed the subject. she also happened to be v angry about how the internet treated kelly marie tran but like... its extra hard to get white people to understand the harm they do PoC in any sphere they share space.

sorry I’m just rambling and venting at this point.
