You don’t have to be around the custom car scene long to learn that there’s no shortage of Camaro fans out there. And why not? The classic Chevy lines are unmistakable regardless of generation, and build costs tend to be reasonable compared to other popular Ford and Mopar body styles. But while there may be Camaro fans, we’d venture to guess few are quite so enamored with them than St. Louis-area native Troy LaCrone.
By his own estimation, he’s owned at least 50. “My first car at 14 years old was a Lemans Blue 1969 Camaro, and I’ve been in love with them ever since I can remember,” LaCrone recalled. “I’ve had both older cars and newer, but the theme is usually the same: make fun power that can be street-driven and enjoy the car,” he added.
His latest iteration on that theme is most assuredly his most successful variation to date. After purchasing the car as a project in May 2013, he promptly got to work to put the retired race car.... Check it out here

The Mustang’s biggest competitor has always been the Chevrolet Camaro. When looking at the history of both products, the Mustang is already at a niche competitive advantage since it was the first pony car in 1965. Rivalry began when three years after the Mustang had taken off with this new car to offer and a huge increase in sales, the Camaro also came out with a similar performing pony car. They were both classified American muscle cars and came to be very popular sports cars. Closely following Chevy’s Camaro is the Dodge Challenger. A recent article from Ford stated, “The Mustang’s base engine beats out all of the other rivals in output. Specifically, the standard 2.3-liter EcoBoost makes 310 horses and 350 pound-feet of torque, more than the standard engines of the Camaro (275 hp and 295 lb.-ft. of torque), Charger (305 hp and 268 lb.-ft. of torque)…”. This explains how all engines compare when looking at each company’s best product they have on the market. While the Chevy Camaro does have a cost competitive advantage, the Mustang is very similar in price being a couple hundred dollars more in comparison. For example, if looking at a Camaro, the same spec Mustang would be more expensive. Although, the Camaro doesn’t offer an EcoBoost and the Mustang does. Neither one is particularly at a product/service differentiation competitive advantage since they are very similar until you compare the Mustang's EcoBoost to the Camaro’s standard engine as seen above.
