the fact that neither kendall nor logan ever seem to find out that greg had spent the night with andrew dodds the day before he died is insane to me. one has to assume that andrew took greg to the very same place that kendall and logan visit, too, considering how close it is to the wedding venue. greg was there. he probably got snuck through the halls of andrew's parents' house in the middle of the night, and smoked weed (and hooked up) with him in his bedroom, and stayed the night. did greg meet andrew's parents, you think? did they see him in the morning or did andrew make sure that they'd never cross paths? did they have any idea their son had brought someone over? and if they did, did they ever mention it tangentially? the doddses knew their son was a bit of a wild one but didn't want to admit it and make it look like it was his fault he died - that much is said by logan. but maybe they also said that it's just even more of a shock because of how things were before. he seemed perfectly fine the previous night, in fact he brought someone home from the wedding, a very nice boy, he seemed like he'd wanted to see him again. and there's just no way to know that it was greg, so no one knows. but it's so fucked up to imagine logan hearing this, or really in general speaking to andrew's parents at all, and just having no clue. i mean, does greg himself even know that it was the same guy he smoked and slept with who died? did colin ever go to him and say "i know you were with him the night before, but i want to assure you that no one suspects anything from you"? or did even he not know? is this just greg's little secret forever?

greg clearly heads inside to look for tom immediately after seeing shiv and nate together, right? like i'm not seeing things? makes me figure that caroline stopping him just took him out of the motions and made him reconsider, particularly that greg learned only then that this was a kind of open secret that maybe he's the only one ignorant to. subsequently one wonders what if greg had managed to tell him, inside that castle in some empty corridor instead of outside in the snow on the morning of?

i've already said (and do fully believe) that tom was anticipating a love confession from greg on the morning of his wedding but. also. while that was surely lying at the deepest of his hopes, he definitely also had more surface-level anticipation that greg was going to try to convince him not to get married in a different way. like as in, not for something shiv was doing but for how tom himself would feel. tom wanted SO badly for greg to say "you're not happy with her, and you shouldn't do this," and i feel certain that if that had happened, tom would have followed his advice.

nate's hand on shiv's lower back and the ironic mundanity of it (particularly compared to how tom has already touched greg by that point) has been talked to death BUT something else has occurred to me... the fact that we literally see shiv move nate's hand away. if tom had relayed exactly what he'd seen, shiv could easily have claimed that nate was just being a handsy prick and that she told him to knock it off. yes, it would have been a lie, but a technically believable one... other than the fact that, really, tom already knew she was cheating. so one has to think that tom was in fact kind of looking for a way out. or, one that he could feel okay taking. actually watching something plausible at the wedding... that's a good excuse. that's an actual good reason not to get married - a much better reason than just not really wanting to be with her, isn't it

i never quite caught all the context before but on my third watch of the s1 finale i realized that all the shit that happens because of the bear hug letter...... kendall wouldn't have had to give it to logan early, and thus none of that would have happened, if he hadn't asked frank for advice off the record. if he hadn't then told stewy about it. kendall seals his fate again and again simply by trusting the people that he loves, by not seeing absolutely everything through the lens of business :/
