Not The Time (pt.4)

Summary: After not seeing Bucky Barnes in what felt like forever you find yourself with him in the middle of a chaotic situation. Definitely not the time to reminisce about your past with him. 

A/N: Ok, can i just tell you guys something? I had the idea for this story in my head for the last half a year. I just kept thinking about it but was always too scared to actually write it and post it. So seeing all your comments and likes and reblogs makes me unbelievably happy. THANK YOU ALL SERIOUSLY! I hope you like this chapter. Its got some fluff! and more background!

“Ok,” you said. “I’ll go with you.”

Bucky’s eyes immediately lit up after hearing your response. You were coming with him. He would get to see you, maybe even speak more to you on the flight back home. Knowing this made him unbelievably happy but something deep inside him stirred. An uneasy feeling that he didn’t want to focus on yet knew he had to accept. The only reason you hadn’t been next to him for almost a year was because he had left. His decision to walk away from you had destroyed everything you two had built up. Every building block that had been placed with love, delicacy, and care as your relationship blossomed had been knocked with sheer brute force as he left that night. He knew it was his fault. That nagging feeling he felt was unadulterated guilt. The need to have you close to him after he had pushed you away was more than hypocritical, it was selfish. He had begged you to come with him, knowing that having you close would give him peace of mind, but how could he be deserving of that peace? What gave him the right to ask you to come with him after he had hurt you?

“I’m just going to say goodbye to them,” your voice interrupted this downward spiral and he saw you pointing towards the area that was currently being picked up. “I won’t be long.”

He felt the guilt rising. Maybe he should just give you the opportunity to stay behind with your friends if you wanted. He was completely torn. He wanted you so close but felt like that was a gift he had not deserved.

“I already said yes, Bucky” you said.

He looked up at you with a questioning look in his eyes.

“We could sit here and make a list ten thousand pages long of why this isn’t a great idea. But I’m exhausted. Tired of everything we all just had to see and do. So, please don’t make me analyze this decision again. Don’t analyze my decision, yourself. Lets just go.”

Amazing. Your ability to help him through all the mental turmoil he faced was utterly amazing. It had left him speechless while you were together and left him speechless now.

“OK,” he said.

“Hey! What’s up doc?!” Sam said, as a giant smile appeared across his face. “You kicked ass out there!”

You and Bucky were walking up onto the jet after saying goodbye to your team. The walk over to the jet had been quiet. Small talk just didn’t seem like an option and both of you were also trying to stick to your request. Don’t over analyze… don’t over analyze, you both thought. Quite counterproductive you realized. Yes brain, lets continuously think of the one thing we’re not supposed to think about. Was there a way to roll your eyes at your brain?

“Hi Sam,” you smiled as he pulled you into a hug. “But I’m sure you guys took care of the ass kicking.”

Hugging him made you realize that you had also lost a set of friends after Bucky had left. You had gotten used to speaking to the superheroes, something you wouldn’t ever understand. How does one actually get used to speaking to superheroes?! But somehow you had managed to feel comfortable around them. Looking at them was like looking at friends, very close friends that you loved and that happened to hold superhuman abilities (or ridiculous amounts of money). But that had also been torn from your side that night.

Don’t over analyze… don’t over analyze.

“You know we did. I mean, it was mostly me, but you know I’m a sweetheart. I don’t want my buddies here to get hurt. I’ll be nice and share the credit.”

“You know what Wilson,” said Tony as he approached Sam, Bucky, and you. Looking at Sam he continued, “Y/N is practically a genius. You can’t fool her with your misplaced ego and your insincere generosity.” He turned towards you and with a smile on his face said, “Hi, kid. It’s nice to see you.”

“Hi, it’s nice to see you too, Tony” you said.

Don’t over analyze… don’t over analyze

The jet had always been impressive. The holographic displays made you feel like you had stepped onto a sci-fi film.

“Hello Dr. Y/L/N,” FRIDAY greeted you softly as you walked into the jet.

Jesus, was it possible to miss an AI?! Apparently!

What had you gotten yourself into? Because of Bucky’s EYES you were now in a confined space with people you had been close to at one point in your life. People you hadn’t seen because of that one night.

Don’t over analyze… don’t over analyze

“Hi FRIDAY,” you finally said. You never knew where to look while talking to her. You instinctively looked up because she seemed to be all-knowing and your mind just connected all-knowing beings with the sky, or in this case the ceiling. Bucky had the same problem too. You had asked him once.

“Buck, where is she?! I mean I know she doesn’t have a body, but I have to look somewhere while I talk to her!”

He had just laughed, “Doll, really? You’re asking me to help you interact with a person? A thing? I don’t even know what she is and you want me to give you tips on how to talk to her?”

“Um, you can sit here if you’d like,” Bucky shyly whispered while pointing to a seat next to Sam. “I’m going to be up front with Tony.”

“Ok,” you replied. “Thanks.”

“Feel free to tell Sam to shut up,” he said a bit louder. “I know you’re tired.”

“Ok,” you chuckled.

“Barnes, you need to shut up!” Sam yelled.

Bucky smacked Sam’s head as he walked past him. At least that hadn’t changed. It was always funny to see their relationship. They loved each other. Would defend and protect each other while out on the field. Their way of expressing this love for one another was strange but always entertaining to see. 

As you sat down and buckled in, you smiled at Sam. I really missed you, you thought while looking at him. But it was not the time to open that can of worms. That would only lead to more confessions you were not prepared to share.

“You can sleep Y/N. I meant what I said about you kicking ass. We heard of the doctor that helped all those patients and I know for a fact that was you.”

“It was everybody there Sam,” you said with a smile. “We’re a team, remember?”

“Yeah, yeah, I know. But who’s their leader? That would be you and besides they were talking about one specific doctor. So, unless you have a twin sister, I know it was you. Come on, sleep.”

“Fine! But only because this seat is made out of clouds apparently,” you laughed.

You closed your eyes and wanted so bad to just sleep. But your mind had other ideas.

Almost six months after you had met Steve, Sam, and Bucky at the restaurant you had walked into that same restaurant looking to eat that glorious soup. After a long over night shift at the hospital you could think of no better way to treat yourself than with a bowl of soup.

You walked in and was greeted by the waiters and waitresses who had all come to recognize you.

“The soup, right?” your waiter, Mike, had asked once you had been seated.

“Yes,” you chuckled, “I should really try something new, but I swear you guys put something in that soup! I’m hooked!”

Mike laughed as he left to place your order. When he returned he placed the soup in front of you and said, “You know, I’ve been meaning to tell you. You know of the Winter Soldier dude, right?” You nodded, “Well he’s been coming here pretty regularly! Asking for this same soup. I always think of you when he orders it,” he laughed.

OH MY GOD! Bucky Barnes, THE Bucky Barnes, had been ordering your soup!

“Oh my god! Its like he heard me. Look!”  Mike said as he gestured towards the door with a nod of his head. You turned towards the door and there he was. Bucky stood at the door looking amazing, you might add, in a black jacket and dark jeans. “Enjoy your soup! I’m going to let Sasha know he’s back!”

Another waiter was walking him towards a table when his eyes landed on yours. They lit up as he recognized you.

“I come here a lot,” you had said that first time he had met you and here you were.

Should you wave? Would he even remember you? You had no time to decide as you saw him give you a small wave.

My god, he had waved at you!

He held up a finger at the waiter guiding him to a table and he began walking towards you. This isn’t happening! This isn’t happening!

“Um, hi,” he said. This man was just too adorable. “We kind of met a few months ago here. I’m not sure if you remember.”

Was he serious. Did he seriously think you would forget meeting him and his friends? They were freaking Avengers for goodness sake! How could you forget! You had in fact spent the rest of that month pestering your friend, Maya, about your run in with them. She believed you had seen them, but she drew the line after you told her you had spent a few hours talking to them about books. You couldn’t believe it yourself so of course she would have her doubts.

“Yeah,” you giggled, “Of course I remember. How could I forget?” Really! Way to make it weird!

He smiled, and it was honestly breath taking, “I just, I wanted to thank you for helping me order the soup,” He chuckled as he realized what you had in front of you. “I can’t get enough of it.”

“It’s so good, right? I’m happy you enjoyed it.”

He had been talking himself up for this. Maybe it wasn’t the time. NO! He thought. It was now or never! He could go back to a table and sit alone but he could also ask if he could sit with you. You could keep each other company. That would be nice, right?

“Could I? Could I sit here, I mean, I was planning to eat by myself,” he said as his hands went to the back of his neck, “But you’re here and you seem to be alone too. So maybe, if you don’t mind, or if you do I can, I mean I would like to stay but only if…”

“Yes, its ok,” you smiled and he truly thought it was breath taking. “You can sit, I really don’t mind.”

Had he heard right? Had you actually accepted?

“You sure?” he asked, wanting to double check.

“Yes,” you said again, “I’m sure.”

Just then Sasha walked up to your table.

“Hi, Y/N,” she smiled at you politely. She then turned to Bucky, “Is it going to be the usual for you, Sergeant Barnes?”

“Yes,” He said. “And it’s just Bucky, please.”

“Right,” she said. “Will it just be you today or will Sam be … I mean, or will anybody else be joining you?”

Bucky smiled. There was something brewing between Sasha and Sam and he couldn’t get Sam to admit it, but he just knew it was there.

“It’s just me, today. Well, me and Y/N.”

Your heart fluttered at Bucky’s response. Get yourself together, you thought. Now is not the time to project your never-ending loneliness. The guy just wanted a bit of company while he ate!

“Alright, I’ll be right back with your soup,” Sasha said as she tried not to look too disappointed.

“Thank you,” Bucky replied. “So, Y/N? How have you been?” Nice, Barnes! You could do this, he thought.

“I’ve been good, thank you. Busy at work but good overall.”

“What do you do? I don’t think you mentioned it last time.”

“I’m a doctor at the hospital that’s like three blocks from here.”

“A doctor?” Could you be any more perfect, he thought.

“Yeah,” you smiled. “It’s a lot of work but I love it. I wouldn’t have it any other way.”

“I bet it IS a lot of work. Are you just coming out of a shift?”

You laughed, “Is it that obvious? Do I look that bad?”

“No! That’s not what I meant! You look great! Beautiful, I just meant..”

“It’s ok! I’m just kidding,” you said as you continued to laugh. “Wait, did you say beautiful?” you asked with a smile on your face and with probably the reddest blush you ever experienced.

Bucky’s face mimicked your own. You could see his own blush rise from his neck and reach all the way to his ears. Shit! He thought. It was going so well, and he already messed it up.

“Umm, you should probably eat your soup it’s going to get cold,” he said. He literally couldn’t think of anything else to distract you.

Your soup! Right! You had forgotten all about it! You pretended to agree with him. A blush on him was adorable and you hoped you could make him blush again another time, but you didn’t want to make him uncomfortable.

“You’re right,” you said looking down at your soup. “Your soup is coming,” you said as you pointed to Sasha who was approaching your table.

Thank God! He thought. Now he had another reason to love this soup! It had saved him from messing everything up.

Buying Game 1 - Playing 1 and 2

Q: Funny thing about the 3DS: I got it from a pawn shop for 60 bucks thinking it was a 2DS because well, it was. It is a 2DS it has that on the back it says everywhere on the thing it is a 2DS. When you open it though, it thinks it's a 3DS. This works out well because a 2DS has more power and the 3DS has more available games

I'll go find it. How long is it will I be able to play to the twist by the end of today?

BF: Unless you just fly through the first game?  It’s the last case of the second game

BF: There is a way to save when you are investing though

Q: I figured out it's the start button.

Maybe I could look up where she got the name. She just asked if she could call me 'nick' and phoenix had no objection so I GUESS IM NICK NOW. I really like seeing what characters say about stuff too, but sometimes you just wanna get to it and 'ohmygod just shut up i wanna be able to figure this out i've already heard this before what am I missing'. Also I was tired, but ya they are enjoyable for the most part. HONESTLY with Juan I see him as a Zarla character, him being in the game is just absolutely stellar... it feels like a huuuuge bonus. I know he originally came from here but I learnt about him from the ladyverse and a quick scroll through her ace attorney folder on devart. He seems like her character. Concept: The people making the anime actually did see one or two of Zarla's comics and liked the color she had for his shirt and kept that Me at first: ehhhhh i don't really like him. he should just... go over there. Me later: oooo cross universe? More interesting, still don't like him much. Me now: I WILL PROTECT WITH BOY WITH MY LIFE WHEN I FIND HIM AND HE'S ALREADY DEAD WHOEVER DID THIS YOU WILL PAY WITH YOUR LIFE

(Edit: HOW COULD I HAVE EVER HAVE NOT LOVED HIM HE IS SUCH AN INTERESTING CHARACTER NO MATTER WHAT UNIVERSE HE’S IN)

BF: Hahahaha

Yeah, I kinda consider him to be more Zarla’s character than the game’s because of how much of a blank slate character he really is

BF: I know I’ve made up traits for him practically from whole cloth, or based on the smallest clues I can glean from the game script

Q: niiice

I'm getting through it, thankfully I'm not getting stuck as often as I did.

Q: "guess I better go there later..." YES, ALRIGHT, HOW DO I MAKE TIME MOVE FORWARD THOUGH?

BF: lol a lot of time when they say that, that means 'head on over to that location if it's on the menu"

2nd Case:

Sense the beginning I knew "IT'S THE WHITE GUY". The cutscene had what looked to me somebody with white hair but later i found a guy named Redd White and knew It was him because "HE'S THE WHITE GUY”

"Aw no looks like the tutorial girl is dead. Oh well."

"So she has a sister, okay."

"weird, i haven't seen this before. this is cool. (investigation mode)"

I absolutely hated April May. She was the worst character to me.
