“Okay, cherie, you’re almost there! Just a few more!” Mariah could hardly hear her grandpapa over the ripping, burning pain, her hands gripping the sweat-soaked bedsheets as her bare chest heaved, the air feeling like a life preserver and acid at the same time. The vampiress lay in one of the many fancy Pointe Du Lac beds, her papa Lestat at her end to catch the little one inside of her, and her mamas on both sides of her, being her rocks as she let out screams of pain. She had already had strange feelings about the child inside of her, and how she and the child’s sire had left off didn’t help. She didn’t blame it of course, but she was terrified- would it remind her of HIM? Would it end up like him no matter how she tried? Every kick and movement had felt like a blessing and a curse, a reminder of the sweet one inside her, and what it could become- and the pain of this birth was not helping. A contraction knocked Mariah out of her thoughts as she let out a groan and began pushing once more.  “Oh! The head’s here! Just one more cherie, push with all your might!” “Come on honey, you’re almost there!” The words of encouragement from her grandpapa and mama Bonny hit and with a grab of her mothers’ hands and crushing squeeze, Mariah let out a scream as she gave her all into the last push- And a loud wail filled the air. “IT’S A BOY!” The vampiress collapsed against the satin pillows behind her, exhausted but relieved that it was over… And curious.  She peeked through her eyelashes as she heard her grandfather and mother coo over the squealing infant, wiping off some of the afterbirth and cutting his cord. All she saw of hin was a shiny blue- what was that? Her eyes fluttered open in shock as the infant was then laid upon her chest. He was cold, freezing, like a tiny popsicle right ot of the freezer… But this didn’t seem to bother him, because the moment the babe was laid upon her, he quieted. Maria peered down at the little one and just…. Stared in awe. He wasn’t a snowperson like his father, but he wasn’t quite frostbitten either. His skin was white as snow, and soft to the touch. He was tiny too, was this little one really the one that had sent such powerful kicks throughout her body? Clearly, because she noticed his limbs. They weren’t snow- they were ice crystal shards of hands and feet! One of her fingers gently touched one of them out of curiosity and admiration- they were smooth and sharp. His hair was a light brunette, in adorable little tufts, and his face…. His eyes had dark circles, darker than hers or any she’d seen, and a little cute nose similar to her own, and a mouth full of sharp fangs that could rip through anything with ease.  He wasn’t your average newborn, but he was hers. He did have similar things with his father but they weren’t exact. And…., who was to say he’d end up any cruel like his father or his family because of that? You inherit your parents’ looks, not personality.  And as this tiny one nestled against her bosom, his mother just placed her hands upon him and held him closer.  He was perfect. How dare she think such a precious child would automatically be like him? How dare she think anything about this little prince? With just one look, this baby had taken over her very soul, and it would forever be his. And as she felt tears well up in her eyes as she held her son close, Mariah cooed to him. “Hi Charlie. Welcome home.”

What human and vampire traits does Mariah have?

OOOOOH yes yes yes!!!

- Mariah is a half vampire, half human. When she reaches the age her mother was when she was born, she shall become fully immortal. Until then she ages like any human would.

- She can eat human food and enjoys it greatly, but blood/flesh is a lot more sustainable and keeps her fuller.

- She has a stronger immune system and body than an average human, not as strong as a full vampiress but enough.

- Drinking dead blood makes her VERY SICK, almost like an allergy, compared to a full-blooded vampire who only gets sick for a few days. The blood has to be warm and red to drink or she'll be coffin-ridden for possibly weeks.

- She can spend short periods in the sunlight, maybe two hours before she must go inside. Sometimes she brings an umbrella to extend that period.

- She has a bed, and uses black-out curtains around it to block out the sun, almost like a tent when she sleeps in the day.

- She has a varying schedule. Sometimes she stays up all night, sometimes she stays awake in the day. It depends on her day.

- She doesn't have any special powers besides strength and speed, no mind - reading or anything, but she's fine with that

Does Mariah have any survival skills?

Besides the herbology, cooking, and hunting skills, not really.

She was raised spoiled and rich. Of course she has Bonny who humbled her, but she doesn't really know a lot outside of that

What skills does Mariah have that she's particularly proud of?

Memory. Very strong memory. She can quote a passage from nothing with her dorkiness.

Social skills! She's a bit more outgoing than her other family.

She's pretty good at cooking gourmet meals, or cooking in general.

Of course she's a bookworm but she's also an incredibly fast reader.

She's starting to try to garden and getting pretty good at it!
