You know what would be cool? If after two wars, losses, rivers of children’s blood shed by children, one of important character’s mind broke and they went «Gods are actually to die for, I’m proud I almost did. I don’t need no reward, being able to serve the Gods is my reward».
What was the purpose of all of this? After loved ones couldn’t be saved from all kinds of traumas and deaths, after mortal world is left clueless about their battles, after godly world waved aside so many sacrifices, what is the purpose?
Character finds the answer in divine godly light. No matter how undeserving, it is somewhat a saving idea.
Dionysus doesn’t see it as madness, being a god, he sees it as epiphany, therefore he doesn’t cure it. OR. He knows taking away the admiration will leave the demigod with nothing but pain and feeling of helplessness in gods’ schemes. OR. He understands Percy/Nico/Annabeth wouldn’t say schit like this, even if it flatters him, but Zues won’t let him because now he has Percy/Nico/Annabeth, a strong demigod, as loyal ally, who, as a cherry on top, isn’t acting bratty anymore. Dionysus can feel fury and frustration demigods experience throughout their short lives to the fullest. The characters godly parent is eaten alive by guilt, thinking what they could’ve done to prevent their child from becoming yet another war’s zombie, to stop themselves from becoming what their child defied. Sally hates gods more than anything in the world.
