I don't talk about this stuff on here pretty much at all, but a past relationship really broke a ton of bits and pieces of my brain and heart in weird ways (I'm finally thinking about him almost never but the shit he pulled was abusive as hell and still affects me sometimes). Being in love with my current girlfriends for a while felt almost. Painful? Almost like I should be ashamed I can fall so deeply in love with people, and especially how quickly that can happen sometimes too. Thats how it kind of felt. I tend to get overwhelmed with emotions if I'm feeling them very strongly, and that has been extremely embarrassing and also felt almost like I was being a burden to those I love (which love is the main emotion that can 'get dialed up to 11' for me). It IS debilitating in some ways!!! It hasn't gotten bad enough I've been nonverbal in a really really long time but that happened this past week and it was wild to me.
Things are getting better now though! Therapy in the past has helped, and honestly having such patient and understanding partners has made a world of difference ;w;. my wife is someone who was one of my best friends and I had a huge crush on and now I can ask for cuddles and we can nap together and I've fallen so much in love. Her and her presence are literally heaven for me, I don't know if anything has ever made me happier than just laying next to her and feeling her warmth.
Worries of course flare up and I feel like I need to lean on her a lot during those moments, but I don't feel like too much of a burden to her. I love seeing the posts that say stuff like 'Its okay to be a burden' or 'its okay to be annoying' because really truly I think I need to be those things to survive sometimes. I can be 'a lot' and I can be a little bit obsessive and those things aren't inherently bad or evil of me. I just make sure I'm feeling okay during and after and make sure I'm checking in on myself often. I'm a bit of a broken girl, but that doesn't mean I'm not extremely happy and living a life I love. I've written poems and everything about how it feels like it must hurt to love me and my broken jagged edges, but hey, even if it does a little bit, it doesn't mean someone like my girlfriend/wife won't go through a little bit of burden to love me, and I'm more than happy to return all of this and more for her as well if she's ever in need or feels broken ;^;
#Not to be too gay but I wanna build my life with my princess more and more#She's. So good to me and she's so pretty and she's so beautiful and attentive and she listens to me in ways I feel no one else has#She understands me so well!! And I hopefully make her feel the same#But yeah I've been a burden a lot to people due to autism (which I didn't know I had for fucking ages) adhd and physical disabilites#And she feels like she isn't taking care of me which is good because I'd honestly hate that#But she understands me and makes me a better person and that's exactly what I've wanted for forever.#And being demi/aspec is awesome with her since she's aspec too and there's no pressure for sex or sexy times but if we both want it#It can still be super fun!! We gotta figure more of that stuff out if we want but knowing each others kinks (and sharing a good bit) rocks#Idk its so so so so easy to love my wife Maxie#She's so dear to me and we've only been dating for 4 months but they've been 4 months I've felt the most alive and seen#Its so easy to be cringe but free with her too idk#She makes me better and I hope I do the same for her. I don't want either of us to stagnate yknow?#But anyways yeah this is just a big journal entry of some kind I might do these every once and a while#Not to like. Brag??? I guess. Or show my mental illness so much. Its just kind of nice if friends know where I'm at in my life I guess#And idk having outside input on thoughts can be good. If any friends see this and go 'Hey Runa this is real weird maybe tone it down'#I can look at that stuff a bit more#Gonna tag this in a way I can find it and others in the future too#Runa diary logs#But yeah you're not hearing this from me but I wanna be with Maxine for the foreseeable future more than anything.#Gotta get my degree and a good job too and she's ofc not the only person in my life (I have Sara who is so very dear to me too ;w;)#Nor is she the only 'goal' I have either. I wanna make games I wanna make art. I wanna make something that other trans people#And queer people and just minorities in general can look at or play or experience and just go. Life is worth living#I love my life right now and I'm so glad I've made it to my late 20's.#Its only uphill from here :3#Wanna add on when I say she's not the only person in my life I mean that I have so many friends and people I love who love me too :3#♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

Eddie Munson X Hargrove!twinsister Reader
Chapter word count: 2K
Summary: After Billy died, you got stuck in a dark place, where you didn't have to deal with your feelings. Your friends don't know what to do but to drag you away from the many fights you pick. Intervention
“A what?” You ask, blinking a few times as your mind tries to process what's going on.
“We-”
“Let me speak,” Maxine says, interrupting Steve. “I've seen what Billy's death done to you, better than anyone.” She continues. “I'm the one to hold you at night, I'm the one to hear you sobbing, to wake up when you have nightmares and wake up screaming for your brother.” Max stands up and walks over to you, taking both your hands in hers. “You have a lot of anger, and I understand why, having lived with Neil all your life. And I understand it's all coming out the wrong way since Billy was gone, but this... This has to stop, (Y/N). I love you, but this has to stop. You're hurting yourself, and hurting us.”
“And putting yourself in danger,” Hopper adds, from his place standing near the couch. “This time you escaped... I'm not sure for how long I can keep covering for you.”
“There are five stages of grief.” Eddie finally speaks, and your eyes move to him, your heart beating faster for some reason. But you're used to it now, to the sensations Eddie provokes. It only dawns now, when you look at him in the crowd your family makes, that he lights up like a beacon. Like an anchor. And you crave to hear what he has to say. “You're stuck in anger and depression. And you have to feel them, yes, but you also have to move on.”
“How?” It comes out in a whisper, broken voice and tears rolling down. It's the first time you cry in front of them since the Battle of Starcourt.
“Start by letting it out of your chest,” Susan says.
“Yeah. You never speak to us.” Nancy adds. “We don't know what's happening.”
“Can you imagine how hard it is for me to understand?” Robins speaks up, gesturing at herself. “I joined the party too late. So I never know what to do when you freak out, go to the lake, or drive around. God knows where you go. What if you die? We wouldn't even be able to find you, and I get nervous and speak way too much, and these guys are the ones forced to bear me.”
A lot of them nod, and you just don't know what to say. Shrugging, you don't even try to resist the pull that moves you towards Eddie. He immediately stands up, arms opening to welcome you into his embrace. “It's alright. You're safe here, ok? We're your family, and we love you.” That makes you pull away, looking up at him.
And that's when he kisses you.
It's just a peck on the lips, but it makes your world stop for a moment. Your eyes are set on his as your skin burns deliciously, and for a moment there's nobody else there, just you and him... That until someone clears their throat.
“Are you done?” Hopper asks, and you collapse against his chest again.
But this time, you're not hiding. “If you guys wanna know... I'll tell you...”
They all move, giving you and Eddie enough space to sit down on the couch. Here, among them, you're safe, as Eddie said. And for the first time, you will force yourself to open up. It'll hurt, you know it, you feel it already, but you'll do this. For them, and for you.
“Billy was the one to protect me from Neil.” You begin, holding Eddie's hand, fingers laced together. “When we were kids, he took many of the beatings meant to me. Because I was his baby sister, even though I'm just seventeen minutes younger. And as we grew up-” A sob comes, you cover your mouth, closing your eyes tightly to push out some tears. “As we grew up, we started defending each other. I took some beatings meant for him too, even though he didn't like it. He wanted to take it all on himself, but I didn't let him. But many times when I was so scared, he was always there and... And now... Now he's gone and I feel like that monster can show up again at any time and I'll be all alone... And he'll beat me as he did and the only one who protected me and shared this burden is gone.”
You're a crying mess when you're done, shoulders shaking under the many sobs. Eddie holds you again, and you cry against him.
“It's true...” Max says. “But I didn't know it was like that...”
“Hey,” Steve whispers, and when you look, he's crouching in front of you. “I'm sorry Billy is gone. I always knew you guys supported each other, but this... I had no idea. But you have to know that you're not alone. You have me. And Maxine, Mike, Nancy, Robin. Dustin, Hopper, Susan, Lucas, and Erica. Even the rest of us in California.” He looks up at Eddie. “And by the looks of it, you have another protector as well.”
Sniffing, you look up at Eddie, who smiles and nods. “Hell yeah. I'd punch a thousand Jasons for you, Princess.”
That makes you blush, and you hide your face again. “So, we need a plan,” Dustin says, and you hear him messing around with some papers. “Here.” He gets up and hands you a small pile of...
“What the hell?” You speak out, sitting up straight. “How... It's...” Shaking your head, the new tears rolling down making it hard to read what it says on the plane tickets, but you got the most important part. A flight to California, to the nearest airport to Lenora Hills. “You're all going?”
They nod all at the same time. “You kids do whatever you want. I'm going to win Joyce back.” Hopper mutters and you can help but giggle.
“It's only a week, between the end of the school year and the graduation,” Nancy says. “But it'll be good. For you and all of us.”
“Guys, this is expensive... You didn't have to do that for me...”
“We managed.” Steve shrugs. “And you deserve it. All of us do, it'll be fun.”
The smile comes again, and you don't know the last time you felt... Happy. For too long, you have pushed these people away. And you shouldn't have. There are no words to thank them for not leaving, even after you were mean, almost exploding in anger. “I don't deserve it... I don't deserve any of you. And I'm sorry. I just... Didn't know what to do. Where to go, or how to feel.”
“You don't have to know,” Robin says, kneeling down in front of you next to Steve. “We'll find out, together. We fought monsters together, we can deal with a very angry girl.”
That makes you giggle, and you look around. “Thank you. All of you... For not giving up on me.” The tears that follow are from happiness... From feeling found in this sea of darkness.
“Groups hug, everyone!” Dustin calls and gets up as everyone comes closer.
You're still broken and hurt, but you'll probably feel like this forever. Billy has part of you, but now, you have to learn to live without him. And live a life he'd be proud of. Be happy, because that's what he wanted for you.
°°°
The sun is blinding, even under the beach umbrella. Steve and Robin are lying in the sun, trying to get a tan. Nancy is swimming with Maxine and Erica, and the rest of them are trying to find stuff in the sand with a small metal detector.
“You two,” You call. “Reapply sunscreen. I won't wipe moisturizer on your asses if you get all burned.”
“The sun isn't on my ass, so it'll be fine,” Robin says, and Steve chuckles.
“What are you laughing at, Harrington? You're the babysitter, you'll be the one wiping moisturizer in all our asses by the end of the day.”
“You wish.”
“Nah, I have a boyfriend to do that for me.”
“Ouch,” Robin adds. “She just shoved your single state all over your face.”
“Not for much longer...” He mutters, and you turn your head to look at him. “Nancy and I been talking...”
“Oh.” That has been going on for a while. And one of the first things that happened when you set foot in Lenora Hills, was Jonathan and Nancy breaking up. They're fine now, but the romantic relationship is over, probably for good. “Good. Remember to send me an invitation for the wedding.”
“Speaking of you, people with hopes for the future, where's Eddie with our sodas?” Robin asks, and you sit up, looking over your shoulder.
And there he comes, chatting with Eleven, each holding one side of a styrofoam box. “Finally.” You say when they reach you. “Did you get them from the factory?”
“Yup,” Eddie says, sitting on the towel next to you. “We were squeezing the lemons.” He smirks and you pull him into a kiss.
“So.” Eleven starts, sitting in the shade with you and Eddie. “After graduation, what are your plans?”
That's something you didn't stop to think. And honestly, it's the last thing you want to think about on such a beautiful beach. “Mmm... I'm not sure. I wanna skip college. Find a nice job and just start my own life.” Shrugging, you take a deep breath. “I always wanted to work in a pet shop, ever since I was a kid. Might sound like something stupid, but I'd like it.”
“It's not stupid,” Eddie says, and El nods.
“Thing is, I don't even know where. I... I wanted to go back home, to Santa Monica... But I build a strong connection with Hawkins and, as crazy as it sounds, I learned to love it. And Lenore Hills... Would be a good restart. And I already have you, Joyce, and Jonathan here so... I really don't know.”
“There's a way to know,” Eddie says, and you look at him, eyebrows furrowed. “Might be an odd way to set our future but we could always change our minds after.”
>>>>>>>>>>The way he says <our> future has the butterflies in your stomach flying all over. “What way?” You ask, your eyes set on him.
Eddie pulls his bag closer to him and starts looking for something inside it. “Found it.” He pulls out a red, 20-sided dice.
“I'm not even surprised,” you say with a giggle.
“We could throw it. And let's say... One to six, we stay in Hawkins.” He starts, and as odd as it sounds, it makes you smile. This is so like him, and it reminds you of everything that made you fall in love with him. “Seven to 12 is Santa Monica, and thirteen to eighteen, we come here to Lenore Hills.”
“What about nineteen and twenty?”
“You throw again.” He simply says.
Biting your lip, you look down at the dice, taking it from his hand. “Let's get closer to the water.” Getting up, you both walk towards the ocean, holding hands. “Whatever number comes up... You'd go with me?” The questions come out with a touch of fear. What if he doesn't want to leave Hawkins, and your relationship is set on where you want to go?
“Absolutely.” He says, making you breathe out in relief. “It's you and me.” When you stop, Eddie looks down at you, a hand caressing your face softy. “I mean, unless you grow tired of a Freak in your life.”
Chuckling, you shake your head. “Nah. What would I do without your freakiness all over my life, Munson?” He smiles. “So let's do this...” You say, looking at the dice.
“Let's do this... And after our graduation, our life can finally start.”
Nodding, you tiptoe, your foreheads touching. “Alright... I'll let it fall... And our future shall be set.” You put a note of drama on the last part.
“It shall be,” Eddie repeats, and as he kisses you, long, lovingly, and passionately, you let the dice fall.
Nothing matters for that moment. Hawkins, Santa Monica, Lenora Hills... It's just you and Eddie, and the kiss that you want to taste for the rest of your days. When you pull away to breathe, a smile on both your lips, you take a deep breath before looking down at the dice.
Gasping, you can't help but smile. “Well, we won't have to throw again.” He says, and you nod.
“Our forever starts now.”

SHADES OF COOL
could be read on its own or as a part three of mirrorball
y/n's album :
Tumblr media
Two days have passed since my weekly performance at the bar and it is now Monday which means my debut album comes out in one week and me and Eddie may have splurged a bit to advertise the album in larger cities across the globe.
Pulling up the the school I'm met by the staring of nearly everyone in the lot, quickly speed walking over to eddies van I bombard him with questions asking why everyone is staring at me
"Eddie, Eddie, Eddie" I say while sprinting over to him
"Why the fuck is everyone staring at me" I ask
"apparently someone from the school found saw us at the bar and told everyone, but hey its fine I mean it was bound to happen, word travels fast in a small ass town. he reassures me
"you're right" I reply sighing
"w-" im cut off by the bell ringing
":guess that's our que" he says
"yep" I quickly reply
walking into class I head to the back to sit in my usual chair, going to put my bag in the seat next to me which is usually empty I notice this time its not. Looking up I see the one and only Billy Hargrove sitting next to me
"oh sorry I thought the seat was empty"
I say looking away quickly
"no worries" he replies and then its just a few seconds of awkward silence
"hey I know this is a really far reach but do you wanna hang out later after school?" I hear him ask.
thinking I heard him wrong I turn my head towards him
"sorry?" I question
'I said do you wanna hang out later?" her repeats chuckling
:Yeah totally!" I quickly reply
turning away to give my attention back to the teacher.
I then feel him slide me a note saying to meet him at the parking lot after school
After along 7 hours of school im finally meeting billy in the parking lot
"hey!" he says to me wrapping his arm around my shoulder
"hey" I reply with a large grin.
walking to his car I receive 10x the amount of stares than this morning but I pay no mind to it. getting inside his car I see a younger girl come our way on a skate board from the middle school
"that's my dads wife's daughter, just ignore her" he says with a tone that I can't quite put my finger on
she opens the back door and immediately looks at me and rolls her eyes
"a new girl already?" she says with a scoff
"when are you ever going to learn to shut the fuck up maxine" billy replies loudly
I don't want to get involved so I stay quiet.
about halfway through the car ride I turn my body around to face max
"hey, you're really pretty" I whisper so only she can hear but terribly fail.
she scoots a bit closer to me
so at this point we are almost touching noses both grinning
"thanks so are you" she says with a slight laugh
"most of the girls he bring home dont even look my way, so I really appreciate this" she says backing up
I give her one last smile before turning back to my original position. its shocks me how mature she is for her age. I look at the corner of my eye to billy and see him trying to bite back his smile.
when we get to the house max gets out first and me and billy follow her into the house.
I know Billys reputation in Hawkins isn't the best and he's known for sleeping with girls and never talking to them again but a part of me feels like this is going to be different, or at least hoping its going to me different. I see him in constant fights at school and always living in shades of cool, but I hope fix him, make him better.
walking into his room I take a look around, observing my surroundings. sitting down on his bed we begin talking about the most random things and as the minutes pass by we get closer and closer to each other without realizing it until we our faces are basically touching. we both stop talking and just observe each others faces.
billy takes his chance and locks our lips together into a heated make-out session and im guessing you know what's going to happen next.
we are both laying on the bed under the covers afterward, we got dressed and decided to get comfortable until we hear a car door slam and the front door open, I feel billy tense up next to me and quickly get up. as he walks out the door I hear shouting and it goes on for a good minute and I decided for crack the door open to see what's going on and I see billy being shoved against a wall and punched by who I assume is his dad.
my eyes widening I quickly but quietly close the door and sit back down on the bed.
eventually billy comes back in the room with red eyes
"are you okay" I whisper
I see his face quickly harden
"you need to get the fuck out of my house." he says with no emotion
"im sorry?" I say making sure I heard him right
"you were just a quick fuck and now you need to get the fuck out!"
"billy let me remind you that you fucking drove me here"
"then find a way home I dont care, now leave!" we yells back and this has basically become a yelling match
"god im so stupid" I scoff walking out going the direction of my house
Billy Hargrove
I ruined the only good thing I had going for me.
she was the one person I enjoyed being around and I cant even keep her around.
Her pov
as soon as I get home I plug in my heated blanket and grab my notebook and start writing until my hand cramps up. two hour later I come out with a song called Norman fucking Rockwell! and seven I also made the dumb decision the call Eddie and see if we can get this on the album one week before it comes out luckily we made the changes and were able to have that and one other song.
the next day I get out of my car and see billy with his arms around another girl.
I dont know what I expected. eyes watering I look away and make my way to class.
Billy ignored me the entire day but of course out came a song that I called shades of cool.
during lunch me and Eddie were messing around in the music room trying to find different beats for both songs unfortunately we had to get back to class but the school is going to be open after school due to basket ball practice. after school me and Eddie bolt towards the music room to meet his band mates to help us.
after an hour of messing around with the keyboards and other instruments we come up the the beat to nfr and I start recording right away
Billy Hargrove
basket ball practice ran one fucking hour over. the last 20 minutes of practice was for the freshman training so I didn't have to be there so I decided to walk around the school to see iff Tina was still here. passing by all the empty classrooms I hear talking a music coming out of one of them, I come to find out that its the music room so I pay no attention to it until I hear a familiar voice and I realize that its Y/N, quietly walking up to the cracked door I stand there to listen.
I hear the voice of Munson and y/n talking and then the music start up again.
God damn, man child you fucked me so good I almost said I love you.
that was the intro to the song and my first impressions where that it was either about me or Eddie but I doubt Eddie because they look very platonic and I'm pretty sure eddies gay.
as I hear the song end I bolt out of the school with my mind running a million miles an hour and decide to just sleep on it.
spring break is the next day so me and my "family" are going back to California for the week which gives me time to think on the whole y/n thing
her pov
The band and I have been working dusk till dawn every day a long with our producer jack (please tell me you get the reference) and Eddie has been talking to his friend from Chicago who's dad works for the music festival lollapalooza but unfortunately spring break comes to an end and we have to go back to school.
Entering the school parking lot I immediately spot billy surprisingly not with a new girl. me and Eddie are talking about what to do after school when the bell cuts him off and everyone starts heading in, walking to the doors I pass by billy without batting and eye towards him.
I have first period with Billy and not even five minutes into class I hear the intercom come on and its calling me and Eddie to the front office and as she's still talking I already hear snickers from girls around me, rolling my eyes I grab my stuff heading out the door to meet Eddie since he's only next door
"what do you think we did this time" he asks
"literally nothing, I haven't been in school in 1 week and we've been back for five minutes" I reply in a hurry
as we get to the office the front desk lady hands us to envelopes, confused we both grab the paper and I check the information and my eyes widen as I see its coming from Chicago.
"oh my fucking god, Eddie do you think its him" I ask
ripping open the paper
I skim over the paragraph and see the confirmation telling us we have a spot at 5:30 pm at Lollapalooza at the main west stage
"HOLY SHIT" we both scream grabbing his hand running through the halls as the bell rings we head to the music room knowing the band is there because we happen to all have a free period
we happen to pass billy talking to Tina but I'm too excited to care but he gives us a confused look as we bolt pass him
"y/n!" I hear billy yell but my feet cannot slow down from all the adrenaline.
We tell the band about everything that has happened and to make everything better our album comes out tomorrow and I have been to scared to check the record pre orders so we are going to wait until midnight when the album is officially out. after calming down we all head to our next class and before we know it its lunch time so I head out to go to the field outside to spend lunch on the bleachers. writing in my journal I hear footsteps and feel someone sit next to me, not bothering to look up I hear them clear their throat and finally looking up I see its billy.
"oh fuck n-" I yell before getting cut off
"please just let me speak" he says sounding defeated
"I know what I did was fucked up but I'm not used to someone seeing what you saw.. actually no one has, and I really like you and I want to make this work and I know we don't know each other well so I understand if you need time or want to start slo-" I cut him off my slapping him in the face with all my force
"fUCk you have a lot of force for such a small person"
"thank you." I say just above a whisper
"for what?"
"for apologizing, not everyone would do that, but yeah I'm going to need some time but I also want to make this work" I say with a smile
his face turns into a grin before he gets this look like he remembered something
"yeah?" I ask
" so I went to California this year and on the drive there I saw this billboard.."
"oh! um yeah about that"
"I'm really proud of you" he says
"thank you" I quietly say
"can I hear it?' he asks
"meet me right here after school" I say getting up as I hear the bell ring
he smiles getting up with me
walking down the bleachers together we begin going our separate ways before I stop
"billy!" I yell
he turns around with a confused look and I run up to him giving him a light kiss
I start to pull back but then he grabs my head pulling me into a deeper kiss. both smiling into it we pull apart
"see ya after" I grin walking away

Chapter 6: The Dive
Buckle up for 2.9k words about 2 freaks in the forest and then 2 freaks in the water. Enjoy!
___________________________________
(0:55)
"Where were Eddie and Mackenzie when this happened?"
Jason is sitting in Reefer Rick's house, a towel around him and shaking from the cold water.
"Wha... Wait, what?"
"Eddie and Mackenzie? You said you saw both of them near the lake."
"Eddie, he... He was in the... in the boat, like I said. Mackenzie I think she euh... she was just walking along the shore but euh... she took of running."
...
(Original dialogue)
"Did you get it?
Eddie comes back from his mission to a Walkie Talkie, proudly holding up his catch.
"Of course I did Mackie, what do you think I am? A rookie?"
Both are smiling, finally they can get back into contact with the Hawkins crew. they can almost taste the supply of beer and cigarettes.
"Thank fuck for oblivious builders!"
"
...
(9:26)
"Not to be a wimp, but can I maybe sit in the car for this visit? 'Cause this is gonna totally and royally suck."
"It'll be fine"
In a packed car on your way to 2 wanted freaks isn't a fun ride, but it sure is an adventure.
"I just can't Stand to see those dull eyes if Eddie's break again. I really, really can't. Plus I don't want my clothes to smell like smoke! It's so hard to wash out."
"At least Eddie can drink himself into feeling better."
"That's what my mom does"
Way to kill the mood, Maxine.
...
(11:16)
"We have also identified two people of interest. Eddie Munson and Mackenzie Ryans. We encourage anyone with information, to please come forward"
Maybe there's no good news this time
...
(Original dialogue
"Hey Eddie, try to contact them, will you? I'm fucking starving. Tell them to hurry the fuck up."
"Yeah, have patience."
Eddie grabbed the Walkie Talkie, pressing the button.
"Dustin, can you hear me? Wheeler?"
"Eddie, holy shit. Are you guys okay?
"Nah, man. Pretty... Pretty goddamn far from okay. Mack fucked up her whole leg or so meth-"
Mackenzie limps to Eddie and grabs the radio out of his hands.
"No I probably sprained by ankle, my knee is practically non-stop bleeding. Hey can you guys bring pringles? And hurry the fuck up?"
"Where are you?"
"Wow, thanks for the sympathy Dustbin, we're at skull rock, hurry."
"Hold tight, we're coming. We're coming!"
As Mack puts the radio down, she sees Eddie sitting with his head in his hands.
"Sorry, didn't mean to rip it off you like that... Hey are you okay?"
"No Mackenzie, of course I'm not fucking okay! Look at us! We just slept under rocks in between empty bottles and cigarette buds. We just stole a radio from a building site. You can barely fucking walk and our only weapon is a kitchen knife!"
Mack leans her head against the rock while Eddie is doing his speech. She knows he's not okay, she isn't either, but at least she keeps up a good spirit!
"I am fucking know Edward, but don't just wallow in self-pity. If you wanna survive you're not making it by complaining. We need to focus on either getting out of the situation or dissapear completely. I rather choose the former, so we can still have a normal life but you're not making it any easier now!"
Eddie goes to sit at the opposite side of Mack, silently judging every single word she just said and straight up giving her the silence treatment.
...
(31:32)
"You just can't admit you're wrong, you butt head."
Mack jumps down behind Steve and Dustin, not such a smart idea with her ankle, but finally seeing someone else that mopey-Eddie is worth the pain.
"The hair is right, Chewbacca. Total butt head."
"Good I thought you were a goner"
Dustin gives Mack a hug. Even though it doesn't seem like it, Mackenzie and Dustin are actually pretty good friends. Whenever Eddie decides he doesn't like school that day, her and Dustin talk about all sort of things and hang out practically all day. Sometimes she even drives him home after she stays and watch Hellfire.
"Eddie's right there, if you miss him. Wouldn't surprise me if you don't."
She smiles as she points to the rock construction and examines Steve's face to see his reaction to Eddie being alive. Rather, more relieved and happy that she thought he'd be. But hey, she told Eddie Steve was into him!
"You got the goods Wheeler?"
"Right here, Ryans"
Nancy hands Mack the bag, and she starts ruffling through the bag while Robin sets the six-pack next to her. She grabs 2 beers and the Marlboro's, and limps over to Eddie. She sits down next to him and opens his beer before handing it him.
"Hey sorry about that thing earlier"
Lighting her cigarette she can finally get her nicotine intake up.
"Oh fuck yes! Wheeler you're a savior!"
Who knew that nicotine withdrawal could make you almost orgasmica-like scream when you get the kick back.
Eddie takes a swig of his beer, and another, and then another before looking at Mack who is laying on the floor, cigarette hanging out her mouth.
"It's okay, you were kind of right. But that's the most recognition to being right I'll ever give you."
Mack sits back up, patting Eddie on his back and smiling.
"That's the real Eddie, glad to see you're back."
As they're laughing together, friendship restored, Steve keeps looking over at Eddie. He doesn't know what that guy is doing to him, but hell would he lie if be said he didn't love it. If he didn't love him.
...
(39:31)
"When I got to the shore, I tried calling you guys, but, uh..."
"Walkie Talkies aren't good swimming vests."
"Yeah basically. And then uh, I did the thing that we do now apparently, we ran."
"Technically I ran first though Ed, see we had an escape plan to meet here. Me going by foot and Eddie being the sailor he was meant to be."
As Eddie and Mack were telling their story, again, Dustin keeps pacing left and right.
"Do you know that time this was, Eddie? The attack?"
"Yeah, no, I... I know exactly what time it was. My Walkie wasn't the only thing that got soaked."
He throws his watch at Nancy who *gracefully* catches it and reads the time.
"9:27."
"Same time our flashlights went kablooey."
"Which means what exactly."
"That coincidence, Steve-o, isn't always a coincidence. But that it can be... I have no idea I was just trying to make a joke but it's going nowhere is it?"
"No not exactly, good try though, Mack."
Looks like Steve woke up from his staring contest, with Eddie's body, with some sass.
"It *means* that that surge of energy was Verna attacking Patrick."
"Well, we're one step closer. We know how Verna attacks."
"And where he attacks from."
"So now we just need to sneak into his lair in the Upside Down and drive a stake through his heart."
Wait, is Verna a vampire? Whatever, Mack can't focus on the group bickering around her. All she can think of is why the fuck Dustin is still pacing! Like can, he stop for 5 seconds.
"Right, yeah, okay Velma, great discovery, but Dust there for the love of Bowie stop walking around it's making me seasick!"
"Boom! Bada... bada... boom. I was right. Skull rock was north."
"Chewie were trying to stop a vampire slash monster slash D&D villain here, no time for petty revenge!"
Steve rolls his eyes and sighs, getting ready to scold Dustin.
"This is Skull rock. Okay? You're totally, absolutely, 100% wrong. Right now."
"Yes. And no."
"Oh my God."
Steve covers his face and sits down next to Eddie. He's really not in the mood for some stupid argument right now.
"This worked correctly when we left the Wheelers'. It was correct when we got in the car on Curlt. But it started to slip the further east we went. Now it's way off. When I was leading us here, I wasn't wrong. The compass wrong."
"Dustin, dear, you're telling me that a contraption that's been around longer than all of us combined, a contraption that uses nature, physics and science is wrong. How can a compass be wrong if you're not actively rubbing it between magnets, breaking it in the process?!"
"Except it isn't broken Mack. Magnets do affect a compass by giving off a stronger electro magnetic field. So the needle will deflect towards that power. Either there's some super big magnet here, or..."
"There's a gate"
"Sinclair we're in the middle of a forest! What's the purpose of a gate here? And Dustin, you lost me at magnets."
"But, we're nowhere near the lab?"
"But what if, somehow, there's another gate? A gate that we don't know about. It'd have to be smaller. Way less powerful."
"Snack-size gate."
"How? Why?"
"Okay why are we talking about gates and fences, what the actual fuck."
"No idea how, Steve. All I know is that something that is causing this disturbance, and the last time we've seen anything like it, it was a gate. And I hope it is because we'd have Verna. And a shot at freeing Max from this curse"
Mack stands up, cursing at the pain shooting up her already bandaged foot, and leans on Eddie's shoulder for support.
"Okay what the actual fuck is going on. We're talking about magnets, and gates and labs and who knows what and somehow that's related to Verna? Someone for the love of god explain!"
"Remember that other world under Hawkins? That gates are these slimy things you go into and then you're in the Upside Down, or that other world."
"Thank you, Buckley! Finally! So euh... what now?"
"You guys are still wanted, we can't just give for a hike in the woods!"
"This steel capsule might be the key to saving Eddie, Mack, and Max."
Mack looks down to Eddie who she's still leaning on.
"What say you Eddie the Banished?"
"I say you're asking me to follow you into Mordor, which, if I'm totally straight with you..."
Mack slightly snickers at that last sentence, imagine Eddie being straight. But yeah anyway.
"I think I'd be a really bad idea. But, uh, the Shire... the Shire is burning."
As Dustin is happily jumping up and down, Eddie stands up while keeping his arm under Mack's to give her some support.
"So Mordor it is."
"Hey I'm not fucking walking this, Stephen I hope you have a good back."
"What is Mordor?"
Steve mumbles while helping Mack on his back. Eddie running back to grab the Walkie Talkie and his flask.
...
(57:05)
"Dustin? Can you slow down? Dustin?"
Mack has now transferred back and forth between Eddie and Steve's back, her ankle is getting better but who would enjoy a free piggyback over walking?
"I think we're getting close."
As Mack steps off Eddie's back near the shore, Eddie prevents Dustin from falling in.
"Watch your step, big guy."
"Oh man, you gotta be shitting me."
"Did we just run around Lover's Lake the whole day?"
"This is confounding. "
"There's a gate in Lover's Lake?"
Mack sits down, ready to just give up on life honestly.
"Whenever the Demo gorgon attacked, it always left an opening. Maybe Verna's the same way."
"Yeah, only one way to find out."
Eddie leads them to the boat he escaped him, luckily still in one piece knowing his excellent sailor abilities cough, cough.
"Easy. I... I said easy man."
"Sorry, handsome."
Mack smiles at Eddie's pathetic attempt at shooting his shot. But hey, its it's definitely an attempt.
Robin uses Steve and Eddie as a railing to get in the boat and so does Mack. Eddie and Nancy follow soon. Dustin tries to get on too, but Eddie stops him.
"Hey, hey, hey, you try to sink us? This thing holds four people top, okay?" (Just imagine they have a bigger boat)
"It's better this way, okay? You guys stay here with Max. Keep an eye out for trouble."
"You keep an eye out! It's my goddamn theory."
Yeah, he's not taking any of this.
"Dustin c'mon, you're giving me a headache dude. Just listen to Nancy."
"Who put her in charge?"
"I did."
"Yeah Robin did dude, listen to your elders."
Mack and Robin high five, they became much better friends while Mack was on Steve's back. She is so chill!
"Compass."
Reluctantly, Dustin gives Nancy the compass and stands there looking at them with a major frown, then Steve throws a backpack at him.
"Hey, there you go."
"Ow... You said four!"
"Sorry."
As they drift away Mack is feeling like annoying some people.
"Don't forget, bedtime at nine and don't forget to brush your teeth!"
Mack and Robin laughs as Dustin gives them the finger. Robin stands up and waves at him.
"Miss you already!"
...
(1:03:34)
"Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, slow down. Slow down, guys."
Eddie and Robin stop the boat, and they all look at the compass, which is turning around like crazy.
"That guy's really having a party huh?"
Dustin's voice can be heard over the Walkie.
"Guys what's going on? Come on guys, talk to me."
"Robin you answer."
"Uh, Dustin, your compass has gone from wonky to wonky with a capital 'aah!'"
Steve starts taking off his socks and shoo while Mack is snickering at the noise Robin made.
"Woah Stevie, I appreciate the offer but I'm not really into that. I know a friend that may be interested."
"Mack, somebody's gotta go down there and check this thing out. Unless one of you four can top being a Hawkins High swim co-captain and a certified lifeguard for three years, then... it's gotta be me. No complaints, all right?"
"Are you always this cocky? I mean I guess there's gotta be a reason why haring's in your name, right?"
"Haha, very funny Mack."
Steve stands up to continue undressing whole Eddie nervously looks away.
"Hey, I'm not complaining. I do not wanna go down there."
As Steve takes off his shirt, how can Eddie NOT look at him like come on! This is torture for the boy! He *tries* to distract himself by wrapping Mack's flashlight with a plastic bag for Steve, but it doesn't exactly work.
"Go get 'em, Tarzan. And don't break my flashlight, how else would I survive?"
"Hey, good luck"
Eddie says as he hands Steve the flashlight, taking a quick glance and lighting a cigarette, and that's when Robin takes his lighter.
"Gross."
"Come on Rob, give us at least something! We're the ones wanted for murder!"
"Mack you can't keep using being on the run from the cops as an excuse!"
"Oh fuck off Robin"
And just like that, Steve is down. Everyone's sitting there and waiting anxiously for Steve to return.
"Is now a bad time to tell you guys I can't really swim?"
"And just when I thought you can't be stupider Mackie."
"Hey we're all gay here, can any of use even swim?"
"We're... all gay here? I- I'm not, not that I have a problem with it of course."
Mackenzie awkwardly looks at the water, of course Nancy isn't gay what the fuck was she thinking. But, Robin does look her in the eyes and nodding with a wink afterwards. Relieved, Mack sits back up, looking at the few stars in the sky.
"Where we at wheeler?"
"Closing in on a minute."
"Okay..."
Steve practically jumps out the water, out of breath.
"Oh Christ!"
"I found it."
"Steve where's my flashlight?"
"You found it?"
"I found it yeah. I found it."
"Stevie don't tell me you lost the flashlight!"
Robin grabs the Walkie, relieved that Steve is alive.
"Dustin, you are a goddamn Einstein. Steve found the gate"
"It's pretty wild, it's more of a snack-size gate than the mama gate, but still, it's pretty damn big."
Right when Mack was about to smack him across the face for losing her flashlight, he gets pulled under water.
While everyone is yelling for Steve, Eddie and Mack are losing their goddamn mind!
"What the hell was that, man?"
"Nancy, really, what happened?"
"Jesus!"
"We're gonna, we're gonna die, WE'RE ALL GONNA FUCKING DIE!"
For some reason, Wheeler is gonna dive in like it's a hot summer morning!
"Wait! You're not going in there, are you?"
"Just wait here.
"No, Nancy!"
"I'm telling you we are doomed!"
Everyone seems to want to die tonight because Robin is moving to sit on the edge of the boat.
"What are you doing? She said wait."
"Yeah, I heard her."
"She's in charge!"
"Are you kidding me? I made that shit up."
AAAAA Robin's gone. As Eddie and Mack are screaming in anger, not even making sense, the boat starts rocking back and forth.
"I'm telling you Munson, if I drown I'm taking you with me you fucking ass ho-"
Splash, both of them in the water. Mack takes out her trusty kitchen knife and after a slight panic attack, she swims down after Eddie. Or rather, she swims to her death after Eddie. To her death into an orange glowing earth hole.

Hi! I love your blog and i check daily for updates because your fics/drabbles make my days! I wanted to request (if you're up to it) something with steve going deaf after the concussion in s2? Thank you so much! I hope you feel better soon and have a great day❤
So, I’ve broken my eardrums several times and that causes temporary hearing loss, so I based what Steve experiences on that as well as some stuff I read written by folks that lost their hearing.
I also wanna rec this fic, which has a similar idea, but Steve begins the story hard of hearing, so I tried to make them different!
Read on Ao3
-
Billy doesn’t know what happened when the kids drugged him and left him there.
All he knows is that he was startled awake by the sounds of Maxine driving his own car and the kids fucking screaming.
Something about Harrington being bitten?
And they dragged Steve out of his car, and he was bloody, and unconscious, and had a big gash in the back of his head.
Billy helped them bring him to the couch, using Steve’s jacket to pillow his head, trying to staunch the bleeding from the wound there.
“Why the fuck didn’t you take him to the hospital?”
Everyone was quiet as Steve groaned, shifting slightly.
His eyes fluttered open.
They were hazy and unfocused, looking slowly around the room.
“Hey, buddy. How are ya feeling?” Steve stared blankly at Dustin.
“I, what?”
Steve felt like he was underwater.
The world was moving too slowly around him, everything was hazy and muffled and he didn’t know which way was up, which part of his body hurt more.
He barely remembers being in those tunnels, the ‘dogs rushing them, getting tossed against the cave wall.
And then, nothing.
Nothing but blue eyes and rough hands.
And Dustin asked him something, but he was too far away, or maybe he was being quiet for once in his life, but Steve just heard ay-u are-a ee.
And then Billy said something, and Steve could pick up osital before Billy was picking him up like he weighed nothing and putting him back in that car.
And Steve could sort of make out the sound of the engine through his underwater brain.
But it didn’t sound anything like it did that first day when Billy roared into the high school parking lot, didn’t even sound like when Max was driving earlier.
And Billy fucking knew something was wrong.
Every time he spoke, Steve didn’t acknowledge him. And he would chalk it up to Steve just fucking hating him, but he figured he’d get some kind of response, even if it was just a glare.
He took him to the emergency room, helping him out of the car.
“My friend hit his head. He’s bleeding and he’s really spaced out.”
-
Steve let the nurses and the doctors examine him.
He felt like he was only going deeper under water.
“I’m sorry, I can’t, I can’t hear you.”
He couldn’t even hear his own voice.
The nurse’s smile slid right off her face.
And then there was another doctor, and he was wheeled into a new room, and had to lay very still in a large cream colored tube.
-
“Harrington?”
Billy hadn’t been allowed to accompany Steve back. No familial relation, and all that.
But he was getting regular updates as they performed new tests.
Last he heard, Steve was being taken for a scan, which Billy didn’t like the sound of.
“Our imaging has presented us with the cause of his loss of hearing. It appears that-”
“Sorry, loss of hearing?” And it made sense, it really did, but it also sent a fucking chill down Billy’s spine. Moreso than the unexplained animal bite that was oozing blood and puss from Steve’s leg.
“Yes, it appears Mr. Harrington has suffered a severe enough concussion we have classified it as a traumatic brain injury. Due to the location of the blow, his auditory processing has been affected. We believe he has lost approximately 90% of his hearing.”
“But this is like, just temporary, right? He’ll be fine?”
“It’s rare to lose hearing due to damage to the brainstem, so unfortunately, we don’t know.”
“You don’t, you don’t know? He could be fucking deaf forever, and you don’t know?” She gave him an unimpressed look, stared him down until he deflated, mumbled a sorry.
“Look, his injury is uncommon, not unprecedented. We hope for a full recovery, but at this point, it’s unlikely.” She gave him a half smile as he thanked her, and turned on her heel.
-
They gave Steve a notepad.
He didn’t like talking.
Felt like he sounded stupid.
Couldn’t hear himself to know otherwise.
And of course, he didn’t know sign language. Never had put much thought into learning it.
The nurses would give him pitying smiles, would write down their questions for him. They mostly kept to yes or no’s, allowing him to nod or shake his head.
Does it still hurt? Has your hearing improved? Do you need more pain killers?
He slept through the rest of the night, but he chalks that up to the morphine they pumped him with, the adrenaline draining from his body.
The next morning he woke up to a sweet looking nurse, writing him a note that he had visitors, and he was welcome to tell them no.
He sighed, and nodded, giving a vague come in gesture.
It was Joyce and Hop.
And Steve realized he was relieved the kids weren’t there.
Joyce scribbled something on his pad.
They told us everything. I’m so sorry, Honey.
And Steve stared crying. Started sobbing, because Joyce’s hugs were warm but her soft voice was gone.
-
Billy had never left the emergency room.
He had curled in one of the uncomfortable chairs, and dozed off until morning, when the Police Chief rolled in with the gaggle of kids and a short woman that gave him a shockingly tight hug, and thanked him for taking care of Steve.
“He’s deaf.” Billy’s throat felt raw. “They told me last night. Scanned his brain and the injury was real bad. They don’t know if he’ll ever hear again.”
“But they, there’s nothing they can do?” Dustin was pale.
“Not really. They said, it’s rare for how he was injured to result in hearing loss, so they just don’t know.”
The chief took that woman back to see Steve, told the kids they didn’t know if he was up for visitors just yet.
Dustin had an odd look on his face.
He set his jaw, rolled his shoulders back, planted himself in front of Billy.
“Take me to the library.” Billy raised an eyebrow.
“Not a chance.”
“Take me to the library.”
“Kid, no.”
“Yes! I need to do research! If I learn sign language, I can help Steve so we can communicate!” Lucas stood behind him.
“Take us to the library.” When Maxine stood as well, Billy sighed.
“Fine. Get in the car.”
-
Apparently Nancy and Jonathan broke into his house.
Nancy still remembered where he kept the spare key.
She had an odd look on her face as she passed Steve some sweats, a clean shirt. Jonathan scribbled a note and gestured to the bag he placed on one of the chairs.
We brought more clothes, didn’t know how long you’re staying.
He didn’t know either.
He told them thanks. One word was easy enough, and he’s pretty sure he saw Nancy’s eyes go a little teary at the sound of his voice.
-
Billy ushered the kids into the building, going over to chat with the librarian.
He had spent a decent amount of time here since moving to Hawkins. They had a decent selection, and plenty of the classics he liked to read.
He was too tired to flirt, but kept polite conversation as the kids rushed around.
“We need all the books you have on American Sign Language, deafness, and anything else on the subject.” She gave Dustin a pointed look.
“Mr. Henderson, you have five books checked out, as well as five you stole-”
“I’ll bring those back. This is urgent.” Billy put on his best tragic look.
“Marissa, the kid’s best friend has a, well he’s just gone deaf. Had a terrible accident. They just wanna be there for him, you know?” She looked at him. Her resolve was slipping. “You know, use my card for ‘em. You know I’m reliable.”
He checked out very few books, opted to read them in the library instead.
She sighed.
“I’ll show you what we’ve got.” And she grumbled all the way to the stack.
-
Steve was staring out the window when he received a note about more visitors.
He knew he’d have to face the kids at some point, he was just hoping to put it off.
He smiled as warmly as he could when they came in, his eyes going wide when Billy trailed in behind them.
He looked like shit.
Dustin scribbled something on the notepad.
Billy took us to the library and we got books on sign language and we’re all going to learn together so that we can all still communicate.
He wrote like he talked, run on sentences with rushed, sloppy, handwriting.
Everyone was staring at him weird, and he realized he had laughed. He took notepad scribbling on it quickly.
Thank you guys. Means a lot. Dustin smiled at him, nodding. He cast a glance over to Billy, leaning against the wall, staring out the window. Dustin took the pad.
He hasn’t left since he brought you here he slept out in the waiting room and took us to the library to get all the books AND let us check them out on his library card.
Steve nodded, clearing his throat. Billy’s jaw tightened at the sound.
“Billy.” His head whipped around, his eyes wide at Steve’s voice. Not too loud. He held up what Dustin had written down. “Thank you.” Billy just nodded at him.
-
The kids were picked up one by one, giving Steve tight hugs before they left.
Until it was Max asleep in a chair, Billy sitting in the other.
Steve watched as Billy took off his jacket, draping it over Max like a blanket.
He gave Steve a tight smile. Steve picked up the pad.
Why have you stayed? You didn’t have to.
Billy shrugged. Worried about you.
Steve flushed.
I’m okay.
Billy gave him a look.
Well, I will be. Billy gave him a little half smile. You really took them to the library?
The little mouthy one bullied me into it.
Steve laughed. Billy tried to stifle his own smile.
Love the image of Dustin bullying you into doing something.
Yeah well, it was humiliating. Steve smiled at him again.
So, are you learning sign language too?
Just the important shit. Princess, Pretty Boy, pain in my ass. The three P’s. Steve laughed again.
Right. Important shit. Remind me to learn asshole and piece of trash.
Steve had never really taken much notice to the way Billy laughed. But now that he couldn’t hear it, he studied Billy’s face. His eyes scrunched up, and had his teeth always been that white, and that straight? His Adam’s apple bobbed when he laughed and Steve didn’t even think, reached out and pressed his fingers softly against his throat, his palm flat on his chest.
Billy went still. Steve recoiled.
Sorry. Wanted to see if I could feel your laugh. Billy smiled sheepishly at him, taking his hand and bringing it back to his throat.
Steve could feel the vibrations in his throat, the way the air made his neck shift, his Adam’s apple moving.
He didn’t know what Billy was saying, just liked the way his lips moved, the way he could feel the words in his fingertips.
-
Steve’s face was soft as Billy spoke, his eyes big, his fingers soft against Billy’s throat.
“I guess I can say this now. Since you’re not ever gonna hear me say it, but I’m sorry. I’m sorry for everything I said to you, did to you. You just, you scare the shit outta me, Pretty Boy. I’m not, not allowed to feel this way about you. About, about any boy. Neil’s made that really fucking clear. But I saw you, and I wanted to be near you, to hear you laugh, be the, the cause of all your damn smiles, and I’ve made you laugh twice today. And that’s the best damn feelin’ in the world.”
Steve’s eyes flicked up to his face when he couldn’t feel words anymore, and those soft fingers retreated again.
Steve took the notepad.
Billy liked his handwriting.
I like the way it feels when you talk. He smiled all bright and Steve Harrington pretty. Never thought about feeling someone speaking like that before. And then Billy’s heart sank. What did you say.
Talkin’ shit on you.
That’s rude. I’m a deaf person now. That’s bigamy.
I’m going to assume you meant bigotry. Steve flushed.
Yeah, whatever. Steve was all huffy. It was adorable.
Sorry, I’ll only talk shit in sign once we all earn it.
Thank you. I appreciate it. Steve reached out, slapping playfully at Billy’s chest. Billy had the overwhelming urge to take his hand, kiss his knuckles.
He was too scared.
When do you get out of here? I got an idea.
-
Billy was there to pick him and take him home.
Steve had been in the hospital for over two weeks, as they wanted to monitor the injury.
He had completely lost his hearing, and had given up hope of it returning.
But Billy had been by everyday, usually bringing Dustin and some of the library books, and they had all mastered the sign language alphabet, and had all learned a few words.
Steve had a few bags of things people had brought to him, everything fitting nicely in the trunk of the Camaro.
Billy had offered to drive him own, wanted to see something.
He made a beeline to the quarry, finding a spot overlooking the water.
He took the pad from Steve’s lap, writing I have an idea, tell me when you can feel it.
He rifled through the cardboard box in the backseat, holding up the tape for Steve to see.
It was KISS, Dynasty.
Steve made a face.
Billy rolled his eyes, pushing the tape in. He turned up the bass, cranking the volume.
The first song, I Was Made For Lovin’ You, had one of Billy’s favorite bass lines ever.
He turned up the bass some more, until his speakers sounded like shit, the song completely distorted.
But Steve’s eyes were wide, his hand on his chest. Billy stole the pad.
At concerts, sometimes you can feel the bass in your body. I thought that might work for you. Can still listen to music. I got a lot of bass heavy stuff.
Steve’s bottom lip trembled.
He sniffed, wiping at his eyes.
Billy doesn’t know what he had done wrong, if maybe it was insensitive, this whole music thing.
He went to turn down the music, but Steve grabbed his wrist. He took the notepad.
Thank you, Billy. You’re really nice. Not listening to music anymore was really making me sad. This was a good idea.
Steve smiled at him, his eyes still wide and gooey wet.
Billy didn’t think about.
Just put one hand on the back of Steve’s neck, and pulled him forward, pressing a soft kiss to his lips.
Steve was stiff against him, and Billy was about to pull back, scribble an apology on the pad, put then Steve sighed, and melted against Billy.
They pulled away from one another, and Steve was biting his lip, made Billy kiss him again.
Been wanting to do that for a while. Billy had tossed the pad onto his lap. Steve scoffed at it.
Why didn’t you?
Too scared. Steve just looked at him. The song clicked to the next, the steady kick drum of 2,000 Man made Steve’s hand flutter back to his chest. You like this one?
This album is good. Now that I can’t actually hear it. Billy shoved him. Steve huffed a little laugh.
Dick.

Benny's Rage
HAHN
Even though Eddie had relocated to Savannah to be with his new family and to better himself, he still had undercover work in Maxine. Meaning he still had to work at the police station until his job was done. During the day he worked his shift as normal, careful to ignore Lushion, Esperanza, Steven and everyone else who made his temper flare. And at night he would drive back to work on any paperwork he had so he wouldn't be bothered. Cameron usually tagged along but he was helping Caleb out so Eddie brought his other brother. Benny.
Benny sat at the desk in front if Eddie's, turning back and forth in the chair texting Melissa. He didnt mind coming with Eddie, it was nice to spend a little more time with his other big brother.
"Do me a favor, B. Pull up the email it should already be signed in, open the one that says Collision #2428 a d print out the attached documents, please." Eddie asked focused on the screen in front of him.
Benny nodded, placing his phone aside to do what was asked of him. He printed the documents a d passed them to Eddie. When he went to close out the email, he saw a message that caught his eye. Looking briefly at his brother before opening the email.
Ed,
Everything is as you asked. Attached are the audio files. You know have the only ones as all originals were destroyed. Do what you will with them. Nothing remains, not even a complaint.
N.
Again, Benny looked at his brother, forwarded the email to himself then deleted it from the sent and trash box once he received it to his phone.
"Hey, I'm gonna run to the corner store. You want something?" Benny asked standing from his seat.
"Uuuh," Eddie thought typing away at his keyboard. "Nah, I'm good. You go head. I should be finished when you get back."
When Benny got to Eddie's truck, he started it up and connected his phone to the radio. He looked around carefully before starting the audio. An older female's voice was the first thing he heard.
"Alright, I'm gonna need you to state your name and age."
"Alaina Egypt Parker and I'm 16."
"Thank you, Alaina. You know why you're here don't you?"
"Yes, my brother, Zion, told you what happened."
"Yeah," the older woman paused, "He did. He told me that someone that lives with you has been abusing you."
"They don't live with me but yes."
"Okay so can you tell me about what happened?"
There was a long pause but Benny was focused on listening for every word, every sound. He didn't want to miss anything.
"Umm...when Zion moved out when I was 14 one of my other brothers started coming in my room. Sometimes my dad would send him in there."
"Coming into your room to do what, Alaina?"
Again silence followed by sniffling, Benny squeezed his fist closed tight. Sure he had heard Lainey telling their mama what happen but to hear 16 year old Lainey telling made him even angrier.
"Alaina? Why are you crying? What's going on?"
"I don't like thinking about it."
"The only way you'll start to feel better is by talking about. Take your time and tell me what happened."
"He was coming in my room to rape me. I didn't want him to."
"Did you say 'no'?"
"Yeah, I said no, stop, get off and he wouldn't. So I just laid there until he got off of me."
For the next forty five minutes, Benny listened to all three audio files. By the time he was done listening to Lainey go into detail about what had been done to her, what was happening around her and how it was affecting her Benny was more than pissed. He was raging on the inside. He had never felt this type of rage that burned up his insides before. Something had to be done.
Next thing he knew Eddie was knocking on the window to be let in. Benny drove home engaging I'm conversation with his brother like nothing was wrong, it surprised himself how calm he was.
When they got to the house both men jumped out Eddie's truck but Benny headed towards his car catching Eddie off guard.
"Where you goin, B?" Eddie asked.
"Gonna run by Katheryn's house to make sure she's aight. Mama had mentioned earlier that her boyfriend was outta town and she gets a lil antsy by herself. I'll be back.'
Eddie didnt think twice about it, he nodded and went straight into the house as Benny sped down the empty nighttime street. Remembering the house Cameron rode by before, he went straight there, waiting across the street for the right time.
Once he was sure it was okay, he pulled the gun Caleb had given him for emergencies from under the passenger seat and got out. Briskly, he walked across the street to the house slipping into the backyard. Just as he thought the backdoor was unlocked.
Walking through the house, Benny searched for the house's only occupant. Going to the second floor, Benny found him in what looked to him like an office. His back was turned while he talked on the phone.
"Ayo, my man."
Turning in his chair, Bishop disconnected his call coming face to face with Benny.

"Real big brother, right?" Bishop laughed.
"I'm glad you remember."
"What do you want, big brother? Its the middle of the night. Dont you have a family to see about? Where's LayLay?"
Benny stared at the older man trying to calm his nerves.
"Her name is Alaina or Lainey. You think that was good what you did? You think that shit was cool?" He asked crossing the room slowly.
Bishop laughed again leaning back in his chair. "Yeah, I do think it was good. I enjoyed it, I wouldn't mind doing it again. So what?"
Running up on him, Benny hit Bishop in his head with the butt of the gun repeatedly until he bled. He pulled him on the floor kicking him in his side.
"Yeah, ain't shit funny now, huh? You wanna laugh now?"
Bishop held his side, coughing up blood. "All this for that simple bitch. She ain't worth this shit."
It was Benny's turn to laugh. "See that's where you're wrong, shes worth everything and then some. That's why I'm here now."
"What ....what you want, man? A fuckin apology?"
Benny kicked him again. "What I want is to take something from you since you took everything from my sister."
"In the safe....look in my safe," Bishop coughed. "Theres some money in there for her. Just take it."
"I don't want your fuckin money and neither does she. I came for your life," Benny spat.
"You ain't got no heart, lil nigga," he laughed spitting out blood.
Chuckling, Benny pointed the gun to his head. Bishop started to protest but Benny had pulled the trigger. Thankfully, Caleb had put a silencers on them.
Taking one last look, Benny left the office with his phone to his ear calling to get the cleaners that worked for Caleb. His job was done and his rage had subsided.

Decisions
A low knock on the door wakes you up. Your cheeks are stained by dry tears, and your head hurts. It takes a while for you to even process who's knocking, but you don't want to talk to him. “Go away.”
“(Y/N), I'm sorry, alright? I shouldn't have said those things, I didn't mean any of that.” He sounds defeated, tired, sad. It's hard to hear him through the door, but still, the last thing you want is to look at him right now.
“You made everything crystal clear, Billy.” You mumble, pulling a second blanket over your body. “Don't worry, I'll be leaving tomorrow.”
“(Y/N), please, I...” You hear him sigh, and your heart hurts for him. Hugging your pillow, you stare at the darkness. “These guys, they... They said some things and... It reminded me of my father.”
“Your father?” You ask because Billy never spoke of him. He did mention a stepsister, Maxine, and her mother Susan, but never the father. You knew he had a reason for it, but you never wanted to push him into telling you something he didn't feel comfortable with.
“Yes. He was a damn devil. He was abusive, he hit me, and what those idiots said to me today... It was the same things Neil once did and everything just came back and I...” He makes a pause, and you slowly sit up, looking at the door, the piece of wood separating you from Billy. “I shouldn't have said those things to you, I'm sorry. It won't happen again, I promise. And I understand if you want to leave... But I just need you to know that I didn't mean any of that. You're nothing like those people. You're kind and honest and noble... You're... You're amazing, (Y/N), truly.” After some seconds, you listen as he walks away.
Your heart sinks at what he said. At the pain in his voice. And as much as you're hurt by his outburst, he did had a reason. Memories can be tough, they have the power to drag you back to the very moment they were created, and now, thinking about it, you did see a hint of sadness in Billy's eyes earlier, you just couldn't recognize it. So this is why he fled. He wasn't just running from a small town, he was running from living in hell to the place he felt like home.
Taking a deep breath, you stand up, leaving the blanket behind despite the cold air that makes you shiver. Slowly, you move to the door, trying to open it as quietly as you can. As soon as you're out, the low noise of the TV and a bluish light hits you.
Billy is seated on the couch, elbows on his knees, and his eyes on the floor. It takes a few seconds until he notices your presence, raising his eyes.
“I'm sorry your father was a dick.” You whisper, standing there, eyes locked with Billy. “And whatever those guys said, it isn't true. I don't know what it was, but it isn't true.” Making your way to the couch and sitting beside him, you notice the bruise on the apple of his cheek. “What's that?”
“He punched me and I punched back.” As he speaks, you touch his cheek, delicately. “It got me a warning from the company. If it happens again, I'm fired.”
“It happens again, you give me the name and address and I'll beat them up for you.” Leaning closer, you ignore his chuckle, placing a soft kiss on his bruise, but your lips barely touch his skin since you don't want to hurt him more than he's already hurt. “I mean it.” Then you start kissing him. His cheek, his jaw, the corner of his lips. “Don't you ever believe anything they say.” When you realize what you're doing, you pull away, blushing and looking down. “Well, you should go to sleep now. The bed is yours.”
Nodding, he hesitates a little before standing up. But when he does, he doesn't move. “You know... It's a double bed. We'd both fit there.” Billy reaches out his hand, and you look at it for a while, considering his idea before taking it.
“Yeah, it does.” Standing up, you walk with him back to the bedroom.
It happens silently, as if it had happened many times before. When you lie down, facing away from him, you both move at the same time. You search for his hand, to pull it over your waist, as he moves to do so. “Is it ok?”
“Yes.” You mutter, eyes already closed as you slowly sink into a peaceful sleep.
When the morning comes, you only notice because Billy starts moving. Groaning a little, and still very cold, you turn around, snuggling closer to his chest. “Don't go.” You beg, knowing it's still on the week days, which means Billy has to work. “You're so warm.” Taking a deep breath, you hook your leg around his waist, as if it could keep him from getting up.
“I have to go to work, but I'd stay if I had a choice.” He giggles, running a hand through your leg. “Funny, you're...” You feel his hand on your neck as he mutters something you don't understand. “That's not good.”
“What?” You whine, a little upset and embarrassed, since you just realize how your leg was around him, so you move it off.
“You're burning up.” Billy gets up suddenly, fixing the blankets around you. “I'll go get something from the drugstore to lower your fever.”
You didn't notice the fever. Well, you've been feeling cold, but you thought it was the air-conditioning. “No. I don't want you to be late because of me.” Pushing yourself up, you sit straight. “I can get it.”
“Absolutely not.”
“Billy...” Jumping to your feet, you walk fast until you reach him by the door. “It's just a fever. There's no reason for you to worry.” Shyly, you take his hand. “Just do your stuff and I can get some medicine later.”
“No. You've been complaining about being cold for a few days, it's bad enough you'll have to be alone here, I'll–”
“I'll be fine. I can call Stacy. Remember she said she has the week off? I will ask if she can stay with me.” It's not a big deal, and you don't understand why Billy is so worried about it. “Really, I'm alright.”
He takes a deep breath, a hand cupping your face, his thumb softly caressing your skin. Yesterday's fight is long forgotten now, for both of you. “Alright. But I'll be at the Whaylands today. Anything happens you call there, and ask to talk to me. Say it's an emergency or something like that, ok?”
You don't know the Whayland's number, but you just nod. “I'll be fine, don't worry.” Smiling, you tiptoe a little but give up halfway, blushing and looking away.
“You can kiss me if you want.” He smirks, bending a little to capture your lips. It takes no time until you react, but when you remember you have a fever, you push him away. “What?” He sounds confused, eyebrows furrowed.
“I might have a cold or something. I don't want you getting sick so...” Shrugging your shoulders, you feel a little brave. “But when I'm better, I wouldn't mind kissing you.”
“That's good to know.” He smirks. “Now, call Stacy and ask her to stay with you. I'll take a shower and get ready to work.”
“Alright.”
Despite him saying you don't have to, you make him breakfast, and a sandwich he can eat on the road. Stacy comes a couple of hours later and you take the pills she brought you. You like Stacy, and you feel free to be yourself around her, the rules you once followed completely left behind. So you're laughing out loud all day, even taking a walk on the beach after lunch. You can't wait to tell her and the others the truth. Your real name at least. They still call you Lily, and as far as they know, you've been crashing on Billy's until you find a place for yourself. But you do want to tell the truth, and you hope they'll understand why you had to lie. But now, that's a distant thought. Jimmy shows up at the end of the afternoon after Stacy calls him. And, with you both annoying him to death, he starts making dinner, which only makes you and Stacy boss him around with giggles and jokes.
“No, listen up now.” He says after putting the chicken in the oven. “Enough with bugging me, you two. I wanna know something.” Raising an eyebrow, he gestures at you, dramatically slamming his hands on the table, making you roll your eyes. “You and Billy.” He says. “What's going on?”
Feeling your cheeks burning up, you clear your throat, looking at your hands. “Nothing.”
“I didn't take you for a liar," Stacy says, crossing her arms.
“I'm not...” Taking a deep breath, you run a hand through your hair. “I'm not lying. There's nothing between Billy and I. Just... We just kissed a few times but–”
“I knew it!” Stacy exclaims, cutting you off and startling you a little. “Since that day at the party when we met.”
“Really?” Despite being a little shy, you do want to know whatever she thinks she knows.
“Billy had a lot of... Flings. But he never stood up for any of them. He never truly cared. So when he beat up Chad like that... I knew something was off.” She exchanges a glance with Jimmy, smirking.
“And, c'mon, the way he looks at you is so cute.” Jimmy makes a funny voice and you giggle. “He's really into you. And Billy was never into anyone.”
“Of course he was.” You exclaim.
“No, no,” Jimmy speaks up, shaking his head lightly. “He gets a girl he finds attractive when he's bored, that's one thing. Being into someone is completely different.” As the plays with the dishcloth, he takes a seat across from you. “And I did find it weird when he suddenly stopped showing up with a different girl every day, and now I know why.”
“I don't know... I mean, we're good now, but... It's nothing official, so...” Shrugging your shoulders, you look down, taking a deep breath. “But I'm happy the way things are now and who knows what may come next? I'll just take things slow.”
“You know what comes next.” Stacy chuckles. “Trust me, you'll two be dating in no time.”
“I bet,” Jimmy adds.
“Guys, just–” The door opening cuts you off, and you can't help but smile to see Billy. “Hey, you.”
“Hey, you.” He answers, glancing at the other two. “Hi, everyone else who doesn't live here.” Closing the door shut, he makes his way over you. “Are you feeling better?”
“Yup.” Nodding, you blush when he bends over to place a kiss on your lips.
“Good. I'll shower and... Something's burning.”
“Jimmy!” Both you and Stacy shout and the poor guy sets in motion, crouching in front of the oven.
“Please don't let Jimmy burn the kitchen to the ground,” Billy whispers on your ear before heading to the bathroom.
The chicken was burned, but Jimmy had the decency of taking those parts for himself. Other than that, he's quite a good cook. And this dinner is nothing like the formal meals you had back home. It's loud, filled with laughter and stupid jokes, that are no fun at all but make you laugh anyway. An hour later, after Jimmy went to the grocery store to buy chocolate bars for dessert, you're just seating at the table, fighting with Stacy for the last piece.
“Oh, listen up!” Jimmy raises his voice, making both you and Stacy quit arguing. And you decide to let her keep the bar. “I spoke to my grandfather's friend and... He'll give you a chance. So show up on Monday by nine and I'll start filling you up with everything you gotta know.”
“Oh my gosh, for real!?” You exclaim, a bright smile on your lips. “That's absolutely amazing. It'll be so fun working with you.” Standing up, you bend over the table a little to high-five Jimmy. “Great!”
“So... Will I have to ask?” Billy speaks up when you sit down again, staring at you.
“Well, I was waiting for an answer before telling you. Jimmy said something about a diving equipment store so I asked him to speak to the owner to get me a job.” Turning your body towards Billy, you smile. “And it seems like it's happening.”
“Are you sure you want an actual job?” He asks, and you know what he means. You never had a job before, and well, you don't understand much about diving stuff. But you want this. You want to have something to do, and you want to make some money too, despite the untouched bag of money you have.
“Yeah. Jimmy promised to teach me everything I need to know and he'll keep his promise or else nobody will ever hear of him again.” As you speak, you stare at Jimmy, lowering your voice.
“I'm not scared of you, Lily. But I'm scared of Billy so don't worry I'll keep the promise.” He winks at you, and you can tell he's bringing the Chad incident back again.
“You know what...” Stacy says, taking a dramatically deep breath and getting up. “It's a little late and I believe these two want some alone time so we should get going.”
“Agreed.” Jimmy quickly follows her lead. “Well, see you guys around.”
“Bye.” You mutter, already moving to the sink to do the dishes.
Billy joins and helps you, so it's done in only a couple of minutes. Then, you move to the couch, and you couldn't contain your happiness when you found Grease on TV, and somehow you managed to make Billy watch without complaining too much. At the beginning of the movie, you were seated normally, side by side, but as time went by, you started to move, closer and closer, until you're lying down, with Billy's chest pressed against your back in a spoon position. But the awkwardness faded soon enough, and you surrendered to the bliss of being held by him.
When the movie ended, you started singing along to the last song, trying to annoy Billy as much as you could. But up next is a horror movie, and of course, Billy is forcing you to watch it since he threw the remote control somewhere on the floor and won't let you get up to take it. But since it isn't very good, both of you started to lose interest.
“Hey...” He mutters. “Are you sure about this job thing? What if your father calls tomorrow saying this whole thing is over and you can go back home?”
“Uhm...” You weren't thinking about that. Actually, the life you're living now has easily become the only life you have. The rest feels more distant with every passing day. But the decision isn't hard to make. Now, you know what you want, and you will do what makes you happy. “I'd still show up on Monday. I want this job. I want to have a purpose in life, even if it's selling diving stuff.” Shrugging your shoulders, you furrow your eyebrows at a particularly disgusting scene.
“I don't think your parents would allow it,” Billy speaks low, and you feel as he moves the hair away from your neck, starting to run his fingers through the skin, so softly you barely feel it.
“To hell with me what my parents think.” His fingertips burn, but it makes you shiver at the same time. You can't help but close your eyes at the sensation, giggling a little when he touches a ticklish spot. “This feels nice.”
“Does it?”
You're about to answer when you feel his lips replacing his fingers, and breath gets caught in your throat. For a girl who had never truly kissed anyone before, this is a whole new level. “Oh...” You mutter, lightly elbowing him, mostly out of nervousness, when you feel his teeth on your skin. “Didn't take you for a biter, Hargrove.”
“Only if you ask.”
“Alright then...” Moving, you turn around until you're facing him, your lips chasing his as if it's a matter of life and death. And it kinda is. You felt like you were dead, suffocated by all the things you had to participate in, the friends you had to pretend to like, the formal meetings, the family business, the rules, and etiquette. Everything you didn't want to be. But when Billy came along, you felt like you were finally allowed to swim to the surface and breathe. Billy is real, he doesn't fake it. When he's angry, he's angry, and when he's sad, he's sad.
In a way, Billy brought back to life, down to Earth, and pulled you up among the clouds at the same time. Because that's where you are now, kissing him, for far too long maybe, with only a few pauses to catch a breath. It's addictive, inebriating, and you'd stay here forever if you could because nothing else matters. His hands run through your body, respectfully, never pushing you, never going too far. You'd never expect this from the Billy Gisele told you about.
“We should be together.” You let out once you break apart again, catching your breath. But you regret it because you might have ruined the moment... But you can't help but wonder how many girls Billy had, in the exact position you are now, making out, just so it'll all over the next day. And you don't want that. You want him, for more than just a couple of days... And yes, you failed. You are falling in love with Billy. Clearing your throat you shake your head. “I mean... I just thought...”
“Look at me.” With his index finger, he lifts your head so you're staring into his eyes again. “This won't ever be accepted by anyone in your circle. Parents, friends, relatives... You know that right? Nobody will support this relationship.”
“I don't need their support. I've been told what to do my whole life. What clothes to wear, what friends I should grow close to, what to major in... I'm tired of this shit, I want you.” It just comes out, too fast, and you don't even know what to say to cover it up. Because it's the truth. “California never felt like home to me until you came along. This... This place feels more like home than the house I grew up in.”
“I... I wish you could stay here.” Billy's voice it's so low it makes you wonder if you heard him right.
“Stay here as in... Mmm... Living here? Even after the gang is arrested?” Blushing, you decide to be brave and ask him. It's not like you could pretend you didn't hear it. And yes, living here sounds a lot better than going back to the house.
“Yeah.” He nods, taking a deep breath. “I can't give you a big ass garden, a pool or–”
“I'd trade all of that for kisses, so I think we'd be good.” Rolling your eyes, you cut him off, raising an eyebrow.
“Oh, really?” In a fake menacing tone, Billy stars to move, trying to stay above you, but there's no enough couch and you start falling off.
“Billy, wait!” Laughing, you try to push him off. “I'm falling!”
“That's too bad.” Even though he doesn't stop and you do miss the couch completely, he manages to hold you by the waist, breaking your fall and instead, laying you softly on the floor before moving to hover above you, his body pressing yours against the cold ground.
Smiling, you wrap your arms around his neck. “You know I can–”
“Be my girlfriend.” Billy cuts you off, his face getting all serious suddenly. He's not joking.
“W-what?” It's not that you didn't get it, it's just that you can't believe. And, by the look on his face, he took that as a doubt. He's beginning to move away, but you grab a handful of his shirt, forcing him to stay where he is. “Yes.” You burst out, biting your lip. “I wanna be your girlfriend.”
The smile that comes to his lips is beautiful, breathtaking. Your favorite view in the world. “Good.” And with that, he leans down to kiss you again.
