Dajbog pendant

Dajbog is one of the sons of Svarog, the Sungod, the one who gives light, rain and fertility – everything that is good. The Slavs believed that Dajbog travels the heavens every day in a magical quadriga yoked with four white horses with fiery manes and golden wings, and that the sunlight comes from the fiery shield that Dajbog carries with Him. At night he would die and go to the Underworld, in order to be resurrected in the morning. Also, it was believed that Dajbog spends summer months in our, real world, giving us Sun, while in the winter he goes down into Nav.

DAZBOG’S DAY

The wolf days, like similar multi-day holidays dedicated to animals are related to the cult of the ancestors. The wolf days last for a week, ending with Dazbog’s day which is also called “Rasturnjak” meaning “The scattering day”.

Rasturnjak is a day that exists in every multi-day holiday dedicated to the ancestors.The souls of the dead (which are in this case embodied in wolves) feasted, ate and drank until that day, and on that last day they had to scatter. According to beliefs, Dazbog gathers the wolves, and assigns each wolf where and how much sheep they will eat for the next year, provides them with some food for the winter and disbands them afterwards.

Deity Dazbog (Dajbog,Dabog,Dazdbog) is very difficult to explain because in the scientific community there are many different opinions. We can say that Dazbog is the Slavic god who gives life to the earth, because he is both the god of the sun (sunlight) and rain (“Dazd”) which are essential for human existence. However, he is also related to the ancesotrs as a god of the underworld (South Slavs) which may be his most important characteristic. Judging by this, gods can’t be assigned to have strict solar or chthonic principles, because one deity can be both solar and chthonic. Similar example of opposites exists within god Hors who is believed to be a god of the rising sun and the moon god.

In November, according to traditional belief, the year is divided into two parts. Solar period ends and chthonic begins. There is an interesting belief according to which, on this day, dragons can be clearly seen as they depart for the underworld where they will be spending six months waiting for the sun to regain it’s strength.

Svarožić, the god of the Polapian Slavs, is one of the most mysterious deities of Slavic mythology. Everything we can learn about this god can be reduced to a few lines from Titmat's writings and barely a few words found on Russian monuments from the fourteenth, fifteenth and sixteenth centuries. However, even on the basis of such a small number of facts at our disposal, which contain information about the nature of Svarožić, we can conclude a lot about this deity, as well as about Slavic spirituality in general. What can we learn by reading the writings of the chronicler Titmar? Describing Radgost's temple in Retra, Titmar mentions images of gods located inside the temple, and among these images, the most impressive is the depiction of a deity called Svarozic. Titmar calls Svarožić the first of the gods depicted, the god most respected by the Retrians. This deity is depicted with a helmet on his head, a sword and a picture of a black bull on his chest. We see that this is a warrior deity, which, in addition to weapons and warrior equipment, also had its own flag, which also stood in Radgost's temple in Retra. The flags of all the gods depicted were kept in the temple until the moment when the Retrians went to war. Then the flags would be taken out of the temple and carried into battle, presumably to provide the Retrians with divine help in the coming battle. Russian monuments from the fourteenth, fifteenth and sixteenth centuries describe Svarozic in a completely different way. It is not mentioned here that it is about any warrior deity, but Svarožić is defined as a deity of fire. The Slavs "pray to the fire and call it Svarozic" says a source from the sixteenth century, while a somewhat older source states that the fires among the Russians are called Svarozic. Based on this, we can conclude that Svarožić, like Simargl, was a deity of fire, while his warrior characteristics are related, above all, to the warrior mentality of our ancestors, the ancient Slavs. Because as we know, rarely a Slavic deity did not have warrior characteristics, even female deities were in some way connected with the war (remember the image of Ziva on a warrior flag or the legendary bird Mater Sva from Veles' book).The etymological analysis of Svarožić's name will strengthen our thesis according to which Svarožić is defined as a fiery deity. Namely, the same root of the word that is in Svarog's and Svarožić's name is in the Russian word svarit which means "forge" as well as in the Romanian word sfarog whose meaning is "fried". Also, the study of family ties among the Slavic gods will bring us a handful of information about Svarožić's fiery nature. This deity, as we know, is called Svarog's son, which is what his name says because the suffix -ić is related, above all, to his origin and family affiliation. In the Serbian language, the most common surnames end in -ić, so we have the Marković family, whose oldest ancestor is Marko, the Petrović family and their ancestor Petra, and Ivanović, Janković, Jovanović, etc. Svarožić is, therefore, the son of Svarog, the god of heavenly fire when many consider him a heavenly blacksmith, that is, the Slavic Hephaestus. Svarozic's brothers are Dajbog, Horz and Simargl, who sometimes call themselves Svarozic.

Now we come to a specific characteristic of the Slavic spiritual system which is manifested in the fact that the most important Slavic deities are of a fiery nature. Namely, the Slavic principle is often emphasized in Slavic spirituality, while the Slavs themselves are called admirers of fire. Veles' book calls the Slavs Dazhbog's grandchildren, while Russian monuments state that the Slavs worship fires, that is. They'll fight. The holy drink of the Slavs is surica, a drink inextricably linked to the sun and solar energy. All this tells us that the Slavs kept the Vedic cult of fire in their religious system, which was transferred from their Aryan ancestral homeland to the new Slavic homeland.

From all this we can conclude that the most important function of Svarožić is the one that defines him as a deity of fire. Its nature is, therefore, bright and solar, which is a feature of most Slavic deities. Spasoje Vasiljev, moreover, considers Svarozic to be the sun god himself, thus emphasizing his solar nature. Through studying and analyzing Svarožić's nature, we can learn a lot about Slavic spirituality in general, because the fact that Slavs respected Svarožić tells us a lot about the basic features of the old Slavic religion. Whether the Svarožićs were holy fires or the fire gods themselves, we can freely conclude that the Slavs were the legitimate heirs of the ancient Vedas whose faith was based on respect for light and fire as the supreme physical and spiritual principle. Evidence of the connection between the Slavs and the Vedas can be found in the most important Aryan scripture - Manu's Code. Apart from the similarity of this code with the code of the Serbian emperor Dusan, in this document we can also find information that one of the six Aryan rulers - Manu, was none other than Svarozic.

Cultural backgrounds: The Zorya sisters

The Zorya, also called Zoria or Zaria (The Auroras) are Slavic mythological beings.

They were originally described as two beautiful virgins, the servants and daughters of Dažbog or Dajbog, the god of the Sun, tasked with opening and closing the gate of their father's celestial palace, allowing him to travel through the sky. As a result, they were the embodiment of Dawn and Dusk. [1]

A later myth describes the Zorya as rather three "little sisters", the Evening, Midnight and Morning Auroras, tasked with guarding Simargl, a winged lion or dog, trapped in the Ursa Minor (Little Bear) constellation by an iron chain attached to the star Polaris. This task was of cosmic importance, for if Simargl ended up freeing himself, it would cause the end of the world.

The Zorya were later confused with the Zvezda, two sisters, also servants of Dajbog, who embodied the morning and evening stars. Like the Zoria, they were tasked with opening and closing the gates of the celestial palace for the Sun, but they also attended to Dajbog's white horses. [2]

Neil Gaiman associated the Zorya sisters with the neopagan archetype of the “Triple Goddess”, having the three Zorya represent the Maiden, the Mother and the Crone. Neil Gaiman also chose to make the Zorya sisters similar to fate-related goddesses trios, such as the Nordic Norns or the Greek Moirai, by making the Zorya fortune-tellers able to predict the future.

Amenințările la adresa Emiliei Șercan: conducerea Academiei de Poliție a demisionat

Rectorul şi prorectorul Academiei de Poliţie “Alexandru Ioan Cuza”, Adrian Iacob şi Mihail Petrică Marcoci, şi-au dat demisia din funcţii, la solicitarea ministrului Afacerilor Interne, Carmen Dan.

“Ca urmare a solicitării ministrului, atât rectorul cât şi prorectorul Academiei de Poliţie şi-au dat demisia.

Vorbim de doi oameni care ocupau funcţii de conducere în cea mai importantă instituţie de învăţământ a Ministerului Afacerilor Interne, o instituţie care pregăteşte viitorii ofiţeri, viitorii lideri ai MAI.

Toţi aceşti tineri au venit la Academie având în vedere reputaţia impecabilă a Academiei de Poliţie“, a declarat vineri purtătoarea de cuvânt a MAI, Monica Dajbog.

Cei doi sunt cercetaţi penal de DNA în dosarul privind ameninţarea cu moartea a jurnalistei Emilia Şercan.

“Conducerea Ministerului Afacerilor Interne a luat act de măsurile dispuse de procurorii Direcţiei Naţionale Anticorupţie – Secţia de combatere a infracţiunilor asimilate infracţiunilor de corupţie de punere în mişcare a acţiunii penale şi măsura controlului judiciar, pe o perioadă de 60 de zile, faţă de rectorul Academiei de Poliţie ‘Alexandru Ioan Cuza’, Iacob Adrian, şi prorectorul Marcoci Petrică Mihail“, informa MAI.

În aceste condiţii, comanda Academiei de Poliţie va fi asigurată de prorectorul Veronica Stoica.

“Raportat la gravitatea faptelor pentru care sunt cercetaţi şi la prejudiciul de imagine adus instituţiei, precum şi la calitatea şi conduita impuse de lege pentru poliţişti, conducerea Ministerului Afacerilor Interne solicită celor doi ofiţeri să îşi prezinte cererile de demisie. 

O analiză a situaţiei create la nivelul Academiei de Poliţie este aşteptată şi din partea Senatului universităţii“, arată sursa citată.

Adrian Iacob și Petrică Marcoci au fost puși joi sub control judiciar pentru 60 de zile.

Potrivit unui comunicat al DNA, cei doi au convins un polițist, pe Gheorghe Adrian Bărbulescu, să-i trimită mai multe mesaje de amenințare Emiliei Șercan la începutul lui aprilie.

Jurnalista publică de mai mulţi ani anchete potrivit cărora numeroși ofiţeri din sistemul de siguranţă naţională şi-au obţinut doctoratele prin fraude.

Procurorii susțin că prorectorul a conceput planul și că cei doi i-au comunicat polițistului conținutul mesajelor.

Adrian Iacob și Petrică Marcoci i-au promis, de altfel, acestuia că îl vor feri de tragerea la răspundere penală.

Joi dimineață, procurorii anticorupţie au descins la Academia de Poliţie, unde ar fi  sigilat mai multe birouri, inclusiv pe cel al rectorului.

Luna trecută, procurorii DNA l-au pus sub control judiciar și pe ofiţerul de la Academia de Poliţie care a trimis mesajele de amenințare.

Autoritățile au aplicat circa 14 mii de amenzi pentru nerespectarea măsurilor anti-Covid, în valoare de 2,7 milioane de lei, de la începutul săptămânii. De asemenea, opt sute de persoane sunt anchetate în cadrul unor dosare cu privire la falsificarea de certificate verzi.

”Odată cu intrarea în vigoare a noilor măsuri pentru prevenirea răspândirii virusului SARS-COV-2, efectivele MAI au intensificat prezentă la nivelul întregii țări. De la începutul acestei săptămâni, polițiștii și jandarmii au desfășurat peste 15.700 de acțiuni preventive în întreaga țară pentru conștientizarea cetățenilor şi a operatorilor economici cu privire la noile măsuri pentru limitarea îmbolnăvirilor cu COVID-19. De asemenea, au fost desfășurate aproape 4.500 de acțiuni de verificare a modului de respectare a noilor reglementări. Au fost aplicate aproximativ 14 mii de sancțiuni contravenționale în valoare de 2,7 milioane de lei”, a anunțat purtătorul de cuvânt al instituției.

Cele mai multe sancțiuni au fost aplicate pentru nepurtarea măștii – 12.286, în valoare de 1,8 milioane. Au fost aplicate peste 17 mii de sancțiunii pentru nerespectarea interdicției privind deplasarea. Aproximativ 100 de sancțiuni au fost aplicate operatorilor economici care nu respectă măsurile pentru prevenirea răspândirii virusului SARS-COV-2.

”În urma acțiunilor pentru limitarea îmbolnăvirilor cu COVID-19, în această săptămână, polițiștii au întocmit 22 de dosare penale, dintre care 15 pentru zădărnicirea combaterii bolilor. Aș vrea să precizez că, la nivelul structurilor Ministerului Afacerilor Interne sunt în instrumentare 335 de dosare penale privind posibile fraude înregistrate în procesul de eliberare a certificatelor și adeverințelor de vaccinare, în care sunt cercetate peste 800 de persoane. Daca vor fi găsite vinovate, acestea riscă pedeapsa cu închisoarea”, a adăugat Monica Dajbog.
