Would you like to get a film look in your videos in just a few clicks?

Today's video Color grading using a film emulation tool called Dehancer.

It's a plug-in for DaVinci Resolve, Premier or Final Cut.

Let's jump to Davinci Resolve!

INPUT: Firstly, we're gonna typy DEHANCER and drop it. You can see all the tools available and let me show you my favorites.

We have input and first step is source, for example REC 709 etc but if you have a specific camera you can choose your camera in vendor which in my case is Canon R6 and format C-Log 3 Colour Gamut.

FILM: These are essentially your film stocks that you would shoot on; We have Kodak Portra 400, Kodak Supra 100, different kinds of Fujifilm and one of my favorite though is Cinestill 800T.

FILM GRAIN: Let's jump to Film Grain: When you press enable in this effect, you will get this film grain emulation. check the scopes to see how it affects your footage.

Halation: it's essentially when the red channels reflect back through the film. When you press Mask Mode, you can appreciate all red channels affecting your footage. They have different kinds, more intensive or more soft light.

Bloom: It's a slight blooming that you can see very much in the highlights here, look at this example. You have different controls and also different profiles.

Dehancer as a company has been around since 2014. Since then, they’ve been making film emulation tools for some of the top video editing software. They’ve created a plugin for Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop that’s supposed to help do the same for photographs. This Video Covers: 🎥 Showing off the push/pull function in Dehancer's tool suite. This allows you to adjust color/contrast/exposure of your image in relation to film stocks you have chosen to emulate. This gives you further control of both your film emulation, but also color, tone, contrast, and exposure of your image as part of your color grading process. In the examples I also show its effect on over and under exposed footage, and then combined with Dehancer's exposure adjustment tool. I think when combined with Resolve's other tools, and other tools within Dehancer, it can help build really interesting (even filmic) color grades for your video projects!
