Find out which college is approved by the DGCA for aircraft maintenance engineering!
Tumblr media
The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has published the list of aeronautical engineering institutions that have been approved by them to conduct educational programs on Aircraft Maintenance Engineering (AME). This list contains only those institutions that fulfil the criteria laid down by DGCA and have been given approval. Aircraft maintenance engineering college is responsible for the maintenance, servicing and repairing of the aircraft systems and components, thereby ensuring airworthiness of all civil registered aircraft in India.
You need a Mechanical background
Aircraft Maintenance Engineering (AME) is a branch of engineering that deals with the maintenance, repair and modification of aircraft. In order to be eligible for an AME licence, you must have a diploma or degree in mechanical engineering from a college approved by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA). So what does this mean? A Dgca Approved Ame College would need to meet strict criteria established by the Director General of Civil Aviation such as quality assurance, syllabus compliance and completion certificate validity.
Getting into any College of your choice
There are a few things you need to take into account when trying to get into an Aircraft Maintenance Engineering College. One, you need to make sure that the college is actually approved by the DGCA. Second, you'll want to research the curriculum to see if it matches your interests and needs. Third, you should look at the college's job placement rate to see how successful their students have been in finding jobs after graduation.
The best Aircraft Maintenance Engineering College in India
In India, there are many aircraft maintenance engineering colleges that are approved by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA). But how do you find which Aircraft Maintenance Engineering College is best for you? The first thing to keep in mind is that all approved institutions offer a three-year degree. So it makes sense to choose a college where you think your facilities and faculty are best suited. The other factor to consider is your location as most colleges will want students from different parts of India, so be sure to pick one close enough that you can commute easily. Another key point is whether you want an engineering degree or an aeronautical science degree. Engineering degrees allow graduates to work in any field while aeronautical science degrees are more focused on aviation. If the latter sounds like what you're looking for then look at IIA Group which offers two four-year courses: Bachelor of Engineering (Aeronautical) and Bachelor of Technology Aeronautical Engineering.
How to prepare for Aircraft Maintenance Engineering entrance exams
If you're interested in studying aircraft maintenance engineering, you'll need to take an entrance exam. The DGCA is responsible for approving Aircraft Maintenance Engineering colleges in India. The IIA Group is one of the leading providers of aviation education and

5 things that must be considered before taking admission in AME
 1)What is AME?
Aircraft maintenance engineering (AME) is a professional course offered by institutes. An AME engineer ensures the quality, maintenance, and upgrade assurance of the aircraft. AME is responsible for whether the aircraft is working properly or not.
Only after AME signs, the Flight Releasing Certificate (FRC) a flight can take off.
2) Duration of AME course
AME is a license training program. this program is divided into 2 categories, A program, and B program. The duration of the A program is 2 years, in which 1st year will be academic and 2nd year will be of practical training. the duration of the B program is 4 years in which 2 years will be for academic knowledge and the last 2 years for practical knowledge. After completing the course license will be issued by DGCA and the course was also approved by DGCA
 3) Eligibility criteria for AME
The age of the candidate must be between 16- 28 at the time of admission.
The candidate must have passed 10+2 with 45% marks with PCM ( physics, chemistry, and mathematics) or AICTE approved  Diploma (Mechanical, Electronics, Electrical, and Aeronautical)
The candidate must go through a physical examination by a doctor with an MBBS degree at least
The candidate shall not have any physical disability or color blindness
4) Thorough knowledge about the streams, categories, or codes
Aircraft mechanical engineering course has following streams
A - this license is issued to those engineers who maintain, repair, and fix the defect of the aircraft.
A1- A1 license holder deals with the simple defects in airplanes with jet engines.
A2-  A2 license holder deals with the defects in airplane with piston engines
A3-  A3 license holder works as technician and deals with helicopters with jet engines.
A4- A4 license holder works as technician and deals with helicopters with piston engines.
B1- B1 license holder issue certificate for the mechanical part, power plant& structure of the aircraft
B1.1- B1.1 license holder certify the airplane with jet engines.
B1.2-B1.2 license holder certifies the airplane with piston engines.
B1.3- B1.3 license holder certifies helicopter with jet engines
B1.4-B1.4 license holder certifies the helicopter with piston engines.
B2-  B2 license holder issue certificate to the avionics, electrical, radio equipment installed in the airplane
5)Choosing the institute
After clearing your AME entrance exam (AME CET), you have to attend the AME admission counseling to confirm your admission. Last but the most important thing that should be considered before taking admission in the university or institute you choose. You’ll get many options for AME. make a thorough checkup on the institute. Nowadays there are so many institutes that run fraudulent advertisements on different media platforms like providing a 100% job guarantee. Beware of them. If possible try to have a conversation with the previous batch. Make sure that it’s a DGCA approved AME college.
Talking about top colleges, Indian institute of aeronautics institute will be the best choice for you. IIA is the first AME institute in India to provide the best AME professionals in civil aviation and safety. With a  top-notch infrastructure and the best possible practical and academic training in India, IIA is definitely one of the best colleges for AME aspirants. IIA is a DGCA approved institute in Delhi and Patna.
