#Food Security for All Veterans Act
Text
The House of Representatives passed a bill to establish an Office of Food Security at the Department of Veterans Affairs, with 49 Republicans voting against the proposal.
The Food Security for All Veterans Act was passed by a 376-49 vote, sending the bill to the Senate for approval.
The legislation, introduced by Democratic Rep. Mary Peltola, aims to establish a department to assist veterans facing food insecurity and lack of nutrition, such as providing them with information about food stamps and other programs.
Speaking on the House floor to advocate for what was her fist bill, Peltola said Alaska's high veteran population motivated her to push for the introduction of the department.
"There is nothing more important than ensuring our veterans and their families can enjoy a safe and healthy life after their service to our country," Peltola said.
The bill received overwhelming bipartisan support, with 49 Republicans being the only lawmakers who voted against the introduction of an Office of Food Security at the Department of Veterans Affairs, some of whom are military veterans themselves.

You know how... world leaders can't just? SAY stuff? Because when they DO it's the Offical Stance(tm) of their Country?
That makes their Fuck Ups(tm) all the more serious. It's WHY they have press teams.
But!!!
WHAT IF?
They said something, PUBLICLY, on LIVE TELEVISION, that? Can not be taken back? Full on "masks off, behold the horrors you have payed for" moment?
Sure, they could SAY "that wasn't me" and "I was brainwashed" etc etc. But? If it's BIG enough? UGLY enough? TRUE??? People WILL find it. Dig and dig and dig like termites in the walls. Hunt like bloodhounds.
Riot in the streets.
Because? All it would TAKE? Is ONE half ghost, a few too many long nights trying to balance college classes and his internship, a bigotry filled call from back home, and staring down that empty fridge with just one box of moldering take out, because he's been too busy and stressed to remember to get GROCERIES AND-
Ah.
So this is what "so stressed you feel calm, I have run out of Fucks too give" feels like. Neat. *picks up phone* Hey, Sam? You still at that protest? Outside the presidential speech? Neat. Don't move.
One Phone Line Express later. SAM is telling him to breathe. Maybe... maybe calm down. Think about this. Others around her can see the same "spark of madness" glint in his almost zen like smile.
It Fiiiiine, Sam.
He's just here to Talk.
He disappears. Sam's freaking out. President stumbles but catches himself on the way to the mike. Up in the watch tower, various Magic users choke on their lunches, because a ghost just possessed the United States President.
ON LIVE TELEVISION.
He taps the Mike, smile, leans in real close like he's gonna Tell You Folks A Secret.... Aaaaand~
"The second you Die, you no longer have human rights. Doesn't matter how brief. Heart stops? You're sub-human scum! Non-sentient by American law. We here in the United Stares PROUDLY desecrate the bodies and graves of the dead. Tear apart the immortal souls of the innocent. And condemn you to oblivion crying, begging, and screaming for mercy! Why, obviously, is an act. Because souls don't have the RIGHT to feel fear or pain!
And YES. We do mean EVERYONE'S. Atlantian, Kryptonian, Martian. Canadian, Mexican, Russian, AND Chinese! I could keep going! Once you die? You belong to the United States to experiment on as we see fit! You're PROPERT now! So turn your nonrights having, nonsentient self in to the nearest GIW! For the good of AMERICA. Ectoplasmic Scum!"
*drops mic*
Jaws are on the floor. This was VETERANS DAY. Dead military Heros and smile for the cameras. A cake walk. Do a patriotism, rah rah. There.... there are DIPLOMATS in the crowd. Sure as SHIT, were more then a few foreign nationals WATCHING. Religious leaders looking on in fury, grief, and horror.
Reporters. Oh sweet Jesus the reporters.
The press secretary faints.
PANDEMONIUM. The president, still dazed and confused from being possessed, gets PUNCHED on live television be his VP, a deeply religious if moderately shady man. Take bribes? VP is cool with that. Bootstraps, peasants, and all that. But how DARE you fuck with the Souls of the dead. How DARE you!
Phones are blowing up, questions are being shouted, the JLA Dark FEEL like they should tell somebody about the ghost kid... but also this feels VERY "Call for help-y" so they might throw their weight around instead and pretend they know nothing. World leader are meaningfully staring at their Dear Beloved Dead Grandmother's photos as they send LIVID assistants to hound the American into answering the DAMN PHONE-!
And Danny?
Danny feels calmer now. He has stolen like....700 bucks from secret security's various wallets. He's going to buy himself BOUGIE groceries. Some...some NICE take out. Maybe a little cake. Yeah~ Cake for Danny~
If anyone needs him? No you don't. He needs to go do some shopping, eat, lie on the floor of his shower and just... vibe for a bit under the spray. In the dark maybe. Sleep for a week. Have his food. Yummy little treats.
Or he's gonna fuckin LOSE IT, man.
(Tucker is actively hacking his college schedule as they speak. He KNEW it. Called it! Too many classes! But does Mr "I can handle it" listen? Noooooooo! Now look what happened! Holy SHIT, Danny!)

(I know that you're busy with Dilf/ Milf shenenigans so I don't expect you to answer this ask soon. I'm okay with waiting. Take your time :3 Sorry if this was anwered before,I just wanna see your Skibidi ocs happy after war, after all this angst. )
We know what's gonna happen to human if/when war is won in distant future(them becoming the archivist),but what what about your Alliance ocs ? They are now free from constant batttles, stress and pain. They have whole new life, new possibilities. What whould they pursue? Who are they gonna become? Would they all still be in touch? (.You can include other characters too,if you want :p)
Also another thing: with last human dead, this world had been fully passed on to (now ex) Alliance. Will they handle it better than their human predessedors?
Camron would probably still hold onto the values of the alliance, even after the war is victorious and over. So he'll wind up joining a patrol division in the city that is now being rebuilt by the alliance. Think of it like a police officer's job, but he's more of a patrolman. After the war, he'll mature greatly and grow into his new role...heck, he may even act like Veteran to an extent. He'll also make lots of pitstops to the local archivist museum to see his sweetheart human friend. DJ decides to finally answer his calling and opens up his own club, where he's the dj, obviously! He'll be serving up hot top-of-the-chart songs to his guests, as well as good nutritious meals! It becomes a regular gathering spot for alliance members of all backgrounds and even the human drops by for a visit when they have a moment. The main crew all gather here to have drinks and fun while on their days off or their breaks. Vee becomes a communication expert and moderator for the alliance's new facilities and internet webspace. He now operates in close conjunction with the TVs in monitoring information, data, and operations for the new cities that are being developed in the skeletons of the old world. These devices are crucial and it's a big reason why the TVs were put in charge of looking out for them, as the new world will rely heavily on it. When he gets downtime, he visits the last human archivist, a great friend of his. Then, they hit up DJ's club to have a drink and eat some good food together. Buddy and Fiend both stay with the human at the archivist museum as the security personnel. They guard what is left of the human world and the last living human with their lives. With Buddy leading a division that includes Byte and other camera mimics. Menace is also overseeing the burial/spiritual side of the museum, as it's usually dark and has lots of creepy decorations. Like bones for example. Pal and Melody both work with the other speaker mimics in transporting goods to and from the villages that were set up in the recovering country sides. Their wings made them invaluable in the early days of repopulation, as mimics started to become civilized again and made farms and ranches to feed their hungry after the Skibidis were wiped out. So speaker mimics were the transportation and look outs for any surviving skibidis in the post-war era of the world. They also work as mail carriers and product deliveries. The alliance as a whole began to rebuild cities and nestle into where the humans left off. As for if they make the same mistakes as humans? Who knows...? Humanity is a template for the alliance to follow, now that they're gone. The only thing they can do is analyze the wrongs humanity committed and try to make sure they don't do the same, for they may meet the same fate as their predecessors.

Jordan Neely NYC subway chokehold death sparks outcry: 'We've got a deep problem'
Before Jordan Neely was killed on a New York City subway car this week, he was known for his swift Michael Jackson dance moves that entertained many — yet he struggled with the trauma his mother’s murder had left him with at an early age.
“He told me about how much his mother’s passing impacted him. He disclosed that she was murdered, and her body was put in a suitcase,” Moses Harper, an artist who knew Neely, told CNN.
Harper and Neely became friends quickly after they met in 2009. When she took him under her wing, Neely opened up to her about how hard it was losing his mother as a young teenager.
“It traumatized him. He was not expecting that, the brutal way she was taken. That had a big impact on him. The brutality behind that, that traumatized him,” Harper told CNN. “This kid has cried in front of me. That hurt him in his heart.”
Android Security Savers [Did You Know U.S. Android Users Can Now Remove All Ads? (Do It Now)] Did You Know U.S. Android Users Can Now Remove All Ads? (Do It Now)
On Monday afternoon, Neely was killed after being held in a chokehold by a Marine veteran on a subway after Neely got on the train and shouted at passengers that he was hungry, thirsty and fed up with having nothing. A witness told CNN Neely – who was experiencing homelessness, according to a source familiar with his case – did not harm anyone nor did they see him armed with any weapon.
The 30-year-old’s death was ruled a homicide, but that does not mean there was intent or culpability, which is a matter for the criminal justice system to consider, a spokesperson for the New York City Office of the Chief Medical Examiner said.
The last time Harper saw Neely was in 2016 when she bumped into him on the subway and saw that he was experiencing homelessness when he asked passengers for food. “I had never seen him like that before,” she said.
Harper, who described Neely as a kind and sweet soul, said people from around the world have been reaching out to her about his death.
“It’s crushing people. Members of our circle are texting me. They’re just finding out, and they’re crying, they don’t know what to think,” Harper said.
The Manhattan District Attorney’s Office is investigating Neely’s death, which has triggered protests in New York City demanding justice in the case, in which no charges have been filed days after the killing.
“As part of our rigorous ongoing investigation, we will review the Medical Examiner’s report, assess all available video and photo footage, identify and interview as many witnesses as possible, and obtain additional medical records,” Manhattan District Attorney’s Office spokesperson Doug Cohen said in a statement.
“I don’t care if I die. … I don’t have any food’
In the minutes leading up to the deadly chokehold, Neely had been “acting erratically,” but he did not attack anyone on the train, according to Juan Alberto Vazquez, a witness who recorded the altercation on video.
As soon as Neely got on the train, he started yelling about being “fed up and hungry” and “tired of having nothing,” Vazquez told CNN.
Before he was killed, Neely said, “I don’t care if I die. I don’t care if I go to jail. I don’t have any food … I’m done,” according to Vazquez.
At some point, Neely took off his coat and threw it on the train’s floor, repeating he was ready to go to jail and get a life sentence, Vazquez said.
As that yelling continued, many passengers became visibly uncomfortable and moved to other parts of the train car. Neely did not appear to be armed or looking to attack anyone, Vazquez told CNN.
Then a rider came up behind Neely and put him in a chokehold, with the two eventually falling to the floor, said Vazquez, who noted Neely did not interact with that passenger at all prior to the attack.

In the video recorded by Vazquez, Neely and the other man are seen on the floor of a subway car with the man’s arm wrapped around Neely’s neck. The two men were on the floor for about seven minutes, Vazquez said, adding that he started recording about three or four minutes after the chokehold began.
At some point, two other passengers approached Neely and the man holding him down. One appeared to be mediating the situation while the other seemed to help the man restrain Neely, according to Vazquez.
After a while, Vazquez noticed Neely stopped moving and talking, he said.
When police officers arrived at the subway station in Lower Manhattan before 2:30 p.m. Monday, they administered first aid to an unconscious Neely. He was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead later in the afternoon, according to a law enforcement source and an NYPD spokesperson.
CNN has not been able to independently confirm what happened leading up to the incident or how long Neely was restrained.
‘Always a dancer’
Neely lost his mother in 2007, when she was killed by her boyfriend in a northern New Jersey residence. The man was sentenced to 30 years behind bars for Christie Neely’s murder at their home and “dumping her body in a suitcase in the Bronx,” according to the Jersey Journal.
In the years after, Neely began experiencing “some hard times” before high school ended, Melyssa Votta, a high school friend of Neely’s, said.
“He was jumping from house to house,” she told CNN.
Through it all, Neely was “always a dancer” who was “a really good kid,” she said.
“He’s very well known on the Internet,” Votta said. “Internationally, people have reached out to me looking for him.”
Neely also had a series of run-ins with New York police, a law enforcement source told CNN’s John Miller, including 42 arrests on charges including petty larceny, jumping subway turnstiles, theft, and three unprovoked assaults on women in the subway between 2019 and 2021.
Andre Zachery, Neely’s father, noted the painful parallel in his son being killed like his mother, the New York Daily News reported. And although he hadn’t seen his son in four years, he praised how well Neely impersonated Michael Jackson.
“I sat him in front of the TV and showed him the Jackson 5. … He took on the Michael Jackson thing and he really formed it very well,” Zachery told the newspaper.
Some officials decry Neely’s death
As of Thursday evening, no charges have been filed in Neely’s killing, a move that has increased demands by officials and the community for legal action.
The man who placed Neely in the deadly chokehold has been identified as a 24-year-old from Queens who served in the Marines, according to law enforcement and military records. He was a sergeant and served from 2017 to 2021, and his last duty assignment was at Camp Lejeune in North Carolina, military records show.
Detectives interviewed and released him, a law enforcement source told CNN.
New York Gov. Kathy Hochul said Neely’s family “deserves justice.”
“I do want to acknowledge how horrific it was to view a video of Jordan Neely being killed for being a passenger on the subway trains,” Hochul said Thursday during a news conference. “There had to be consequences, and so we’ll see how this unfolds. But his family deserves justice.”
The governor added that Neely was held down “until the last breath was snuffed out of him,” describing the passengers’ response as “very extreme.”
Jumaane Williams, New York City’s public advocate, echoed the governor’s calls for justice, demanding that charges be filed “immediately” against the killer. The public advocate office helps with complaints involving government-related services and regulations.
“To say anything else is an equivocation that will only further a narrative that devalues the life of a Black, homeless man with mental health challenges and encourages an attitude of dehumanization of New Yorkers in greatest need,” he said.
CNN’s Sharif Paget, Brynn Gingras, Laura Ly, Maria Santana, Ray Sanchez, Omar Jimenez, Nicole Grether, Elizabeth Hartfield, Gloria Pazmino and Zenebou Sylla contributed to this report.

The Empire Where The Sun Never Rises
[turn 11 continued, 7-2(command city)-1(avatar-build city)=4]
In the aftermath of the great war of the first coalition [don't worry about it], Chivik emerged even more dominant than before. Its armies were stronger and more numerous than any mortal force in the history of the world, its vassals held enormous territories and paid correspondingly enormous tributes.
But the social effects of the war also remained. In an act of desparation, the Royal Council had armed the entire population, and in one instant overturned centuries of tradition and elevated the farmers and foragers and builders and cleaners and haulers and artisans and all the rest of the rabble into the martial classes. Suffice it to say, it was easier to hand out weapons than it was to collect them again, and after their triumphant return they insisted on being afforded all the rights and privileges that they had earned. This was not at all popular with the traditional warrior clans, and as a compromise, a distinction was quickly established between the old Warrior clans, who got preferential positions of command, or formed elite regiments, and the Soldier clans, who made up the bulk of the Chivik army, but also had to continue their peacetime trades. Still, the Soldiers were given a salary, regular basic training, and the right to own weapons. At a time when those soldiers were already carrying arms, and veterans fresh from battle, this seemed like a small concession to make, but it did permanently change the structure of Chivik society, and would put the Soldier clans in a good position to press further demands in generations to come.
But it also secured Chivik a military preeminance, and soon enough its armies conquered Neskot outright, exterminated its ruling clan, and putting the last nail in the coffin of a centuries old civil war. The phalanges also broke up the tribal confederations in the west, and forced their member tribes to each swear allegiance to the Fossil Queen alone.
Thus, all Tiktik in the world were united under the rule of Chivik, and a true Golden Age dawned! From the tribes of the bulbgrottos in the west, to the frontier city of Tanmak in the Far East, all the underworld is subject to Chivik, and great quantities of treasure pour in from all directions. Truly, truly great amounts of precious metals, and gems of all kinds, and exotic fineries and foods, and raw materials for the forges of war, and basic supplies, and...

@more-than-a-princess
She'd thought her visit to Sternbild City would be a typical one for a visiting Royal. Particularly, a royal on a short holiday from her very demanding schoolwork and royal duties in Towa City: visits to historical sites, the homes of various politicians, schools, hospitals, orphanages either with incredible breakthroughs or residents who would be greatly cheered and inspired by meeting a real, live princess.
What Sonia Nevermind did -not- expect was to invited to a party with Sternbild's most famous celebrities, as it were. Superheroes! SUPERHEROES. It baffled her a bit as to how none of the Sternbild's stars had been enrolled at Hope's Peak Academy yet: Ultimate Superhero rather seemed...well, obvious, didn't it?
But that didn't matter as she set her glass of sparkling cider aside and strode right up, security detail and assistants in tow, to a tall man in a mask and facial hair. Even if she'd never really seen his face, she knew that look anywhere: no, she couldn't forget it if she tried.
"Goodness, you are Wild Tiger! The Wild Tiger!" Sonia exclaimed, her blue eyes widening as she smiled up at him. "I remember watching you on Hero TV when I was very little! My father has been a great admirer of yours: he insisted my country carry the program so everyone could watch your courageous acts!"
She didn't need to mention, perhaps, that she was seventeen years old herself and in her final year at Hope's Peak Academy. But her cheeks did turn pink with embarrassment: she'd missed an important step.
"Oh, I'm terribly sorry, I should have introduced myself. I am Princess Sonia of Novoselic, though please do call me Sonia. I feel like I've grown up with you!"
Tumblr media
The awaited day came again for the Heroes of Sternbild, where sponsors gather to speak with each respective Heroes from the seven major companies. Looking to see whether they wanted to add their names, switch teams, or withdraw their support. Tiger wasn’t one for formal settings, and even less so for stuffy meetings yet he was to attend as the other half of Barnaby. After all, you can’t have Tiger & Barnaby without the veteran! Even if no one seek him out specifically, as sponsors usually would make a beeline to the blond, giving Tiger plenty of breathing room.
Yet tonight was different, as Lloyds especially told Wild Tiger to mind his manners as there would be a very important guest from overseas attending. The first hero duo had mused among themselves on this special guest; perhaps they wanted to see what the Hero scene was like and decide whether they want in on the sponsorship or not? Well, they wouldn’t talk to him, he figures, and like usual Tiger would take his spot over at the buffet to fill his stomach with free food and wine.
Imagine his surprise when a blonde child approached him, accompanied with an entourage even! He swallows the red wine in his mouth down before setting the basically empty glass down beside him before bringing his full attention to the other. The mid aged man had only caught the tail end of her initial exclamation, chuckling nervously at the unexpected interaction but hearing someone was a fan of him was certainly flattering (and not the least bit nerve wracking).
Her father? Her country? What?
Tumblr media
And upon introduction from the, who he assumes to be, teenager, did his eyes widen in surprise. Noboseltich? He’s never heard of that place before, but it does scratch an itch. Like someone’s mentioned it to him before recently. Was this the special overseas guest? That would make sense since she just introduced herself as a princess! Damn it, Barnaby, why aren’t you here to help him!? He doesn’t want to accidentally strain international relations.
No, never mind! He doesn’t need Barnaby! He can handle this! “A-Ah! Hey!” good start, “Nice to meet you Princess So-Sonya?” Ah fuck. “It’s really nice to hear that there are fans overseas! I really didn’t think our broadcast goes out that far.” Barnaby probably knows though. He was a bit more involved in knowing things about their work and so forth than he was, after all.
“I’m assuming you a fan too?” Despite the fact he knows two kids in Hero Academia (who are big fans of his) currently, he’ll never get used to saying that. But he’ll give himself the benefit of the doubt that she’s more into Blue Rose or Dragon Kid or Barnaby.

She asked if i was alright so I said im fine actually but the California jails sometimes need to be released from their research and the library got targeted with serial killers yesterday....and it was dramatic but it is mostly harassive its having to have a painful adjustment instead of good people
So it's my life and so people start doing wagnerian madness
So this man that was a paranoid android heart issue had apparently had the bisexual image removed and his stomach flattened so he was pretty madness looking invertebrates when it's why would those body parts make sense together
And that's neo Nazis called me their gang to haze into initiation and lash out at men's health at what causes crime
Anyway that madness issue he was a very bad man and serial killer like isis like news from France and he is screaming at me that he is a monastic of God and he is going to kill people and he wants primarily to be around police....so he was in some way very affluent and that drafting like timothy mccvay was very humiliating for him but it was okay ..if he was allowed the security the serial killers do like attach to them and if the security arrived he could like stop trying to cage me and passify me into gratitude for very bullying working class cultures
Truth is I'm more worried about a hells angel with the restaurant workers union they will stalk me with it's those men and I think a restaurant worker with the California jail or institute for women is who is the Irma grece
Its to start hurricane Irma they will act out that creepy like taking stuff out of homeless people's wallets about food.....till the rain God forces it all on house arrest....
That's having to read Jewish confessionals about some of their failures he was gay and he would start obsessing over young men's angelic appearances as worth more to other disciplines and their young men...ick
And later he would have to see research on how weird neo Nazi athletic conscription was like taking them to flag caves and putting them on a lot of acid before he would present demonstrable evidence to himself and learn to enjoy life as it's a human of course it's attractive in some way
So that's me about restaurant workers like all other divisions of labor enormous responsibility and liability as well as constant hard work like criminals veterans and homeless we are forced to take and house all of the problems if it is a problem it's Emma's place give me it all and I will feed and put it together or professional classes actually have to do procedures and teach or lecture to audiences and then it's low income....and there everything is done for them and they are just a robotic they always completely innocent and free from all liability and responsibility that to me is very suspicious
Anyway I think a lot of the restaurant workers are criminals though like a lot of the aggression is having to be one of us and the strain and work load causes that....but something among it is truly brutal beastiel witchy and was like capable of creating that whole concentration experiment called get out and die walking by the ocean....

The Act of Kindness: Donations for the Homeless
Tumblr media
In a world filled with abundance, there exists a stark contrast – the plight of the homeless. It's a pressing issue that demands our attention and empathy. Donating to help the homeless is not just an act of charity; it's an expression of compassion and a step towards a better society. In this article, we'll delve into the significance of donations for the homeless and explore various ways in which you can make a difference.
Understanding the Homelessness Crisis
The Homelessness Epidemic
The first step in addressing homelessness is understanding its gravity. Across the globe, millions of individuals find themselves without a roof over their heads, struggling to meet their basic needs. This epidemic transcends borders and affects people of all ages, backgrounds, and circumstances.
The Human Faces of Homelessness
Homelessness is not just a statistic; it's about people. It's about families who can't afford a place to call home, veterans who served their country but now sleep on the streets, and individuals grappling with mental health issues. Understanding the human faces behind the statistics is crucial.
The Power of Donations
Providing Essential Resources
Donations for the homeless go beyond spare change. They provide access to essential resources like food, clean water, clothing, and hygiene products. These basic necessities are often taken for granted but are life-changing for someone on the streets.
Shelter and Housing
One of the most impactful ways to help the homeless is by contributing to shelters and housing initiatives. Your donations can provide a safe and warm place for someone who would otherwise be exposed to the harsh elements.
How to Make a Difference
Supporting Local Charities
Local charities often have a deep understanding of the specific needs of the homeless population in your area. By donating to these organizations, you ensure that your help reaches those who need it most.
Volunteering Your Time
In addition to monetary donations, your time can be a priceless gift. Volunteering at shelters, soup kitchens, or outreach programs allows you to directly impact the lives of homeless individuals.
Spreading Awareness
Awareness is a powerful tool for change. Use your voice and social media platforms to raise awareness about homelessness issues, advocate for policy changes, and inspire others to join the cause.
The Ripple Effect of Compassion
Restoring Dignity
Homelessness often robs individuals of their dignity. Your donations can help restore that dignity by giving people a chance to rebuild their lives and regain their self-esteem.
Breaking the Cycle
Donations for the homeless contribute to breaking the cycle of poverty. When individuals receive support and resources, they are better equipped to secure stable housing and employment.
Conclusion
In a world where we're constantly inundated with news and information, it's easy to become desensitized to the suffering of others. But the act of donating to help the homeless reminds us of our shared humanity. It's a simple yet profound gesture that can change lives and communities.
Now, let's address some common questions about donations for the homeless:
FAQs
How can I be sure my donations are being used effectively?
Research reputable charities and organizations with transparent financial records. Many reputable charities have websites where you can see how your donations are being utilized.
What items are most needed by homeless shelters?
Commonly needed items include non-perishable food, clothing (especially warm clothing during winter), blankets, toiletries, and hygiene products.
Can I donate my old clothing and belongings to help the homeless?
Yes, you can. Donating gently-used clothing and other items to shelters or thrift stores that support homeless initiatives can be a great way to help.
Are there any tax benefits to donating to homeless charities?
In many countries, charitable donations are tax-deductible. Be sure to keep records of your donations and consult with a tax professional for guidance.

...."A look at what’s in and out of the deal, based on what’s known so far:
*TWO-YEAR DEBT INCREASE, SPENDING LIMITS
*VETERANS CARE
*WORK REQUIREMENTS:
Republicans had proposed boosting work requirements for able-bodied adults without dependents in certain government assistance programs. They said it would bring more people into the workforce, who would then pay taxes and help shore up key entitlement programs, namely Social Security and Medicare.
Democrats had roundly criticized the proposed changes, saying they would lead to fewer people able to afford food or health care without actually increasing job participation.
House Republicans had passed legislation that would create new work requirements for some Medicaid recipients, but that was left out of the final agreement.
But the agreement would expand some work requirements for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, or SNAP, formerly known as food stamps. The agreement would raise the age for existing work requirements from 49 to 54, similar to the Republican proposal, but those changes would expire in 2030. The White House said it would at the same time reduce the number of vulnerable people at all ages who are subject to the requirements.
*UNSPENT COVID MONEY
*SPEEDING UP ENERGY PROJECTS:
The deal puts in place changes in the National Environmental Policy Act that would designate “a single lead agency” to develop environmental reviews, in hopes of streamlining the process.
*WHAT WAS LEFT OUT:
Republicans had sought to repeal Biden’s efforts to waive $10,000 to $20,000 in debt for nearly all borrowers who took out student loans. But the provision was a nonstarter for Democrats. The budget agreement would keep Biden’s student loan relief in place, though the Supreme Court will have the ultimate say on the matter.
The Supreme Court is dominated 6-3 by conservatives, and those justices’ questions in oral arguments showed skepticism about the legality of Biden’s student loans plan. A decision is expected before the end of June.

DARE TO DEFAULT
WF THOUGHTS (5/1/23).
How broken is our federal government?
If the government was a car, how would you evaluate it? Is it clunking along adequately despite severe problems? Or, is it totally dead, totally useless, and completely unable to function?
In the next six to eight weeks, we’ll have the answers to the above questions. Hold on to your seats!
We are quickly approaching the “debt ceiling.” You’ve probably heard the news reports. It’s an extremely major crisis.
I won’t explain the debt ceiling today. I’ve explained it before, and you can find the technical details elsewhere. I’ll just tell you what will happen in the United States if the debt ceiling isn’t raised and America defaults on her debt for the first time in history:
• Within the first six months after default, the economy will collapse and shrink by more than 10%.
• As the economy collapses, millions of people will lose their jobs and unemployment will jump to 15%. In 2023, at least 2 million Americans will lose their jobs. Another 2 million will lose their jobs in 2024. Some estimate that the total job loss could hit 7 million.
• In the panic of the economic collapse, people will engage in “panic buying” of everything as supplies dwindle. Inflation will skyrocket to 12% or more.
• Because they have no “economic cushion” to enable them to weather a financial crisis, small and medium sized businesses will fail by the thousands.
• Payments from the federal government will be delayed or totally suspended. The pain will hit those who receive Social Security, Veterans Benefits, Federal Housing Assistance, Federal Food Assistance, Medicare, or Medicaid.
• The stock market will fall by 30%.
Are you getting the picture? If the U.S. defaults in its debt because the debt ceiling isn’t raised, we’ll experience the biggest economic horror show of our lifetimes. I’m not exaggerating.
The economic pain in America will spread throughout the world. These days, all of the large economies in the world are intertwined. If America falls, economies all over the globe will fall too.
Do you want proof that this is a really, really big deal? Our national debt has been accumulated since the 1780s. We’ve never defaulted because the consequences of doing so would be unfathomably catastrophic. We don’t default regardless of the political party of the President. We don’t default regardless of the political power structure in Congress. We simply DON’T DEFAULT. Since 1960, without fail, Congress has raised the debt ceiling 78 times. It was raised 49 times under Republican presidents and 29 times under Democratic presidents. Isn’t that proof that a default would be catastrophic? There’s no other explanation for such longstanding unified action by a long parade of Washington politicians. Even our stupidest and most Machiavellian politicians have known to not mess with the possibility of a default.
The national debt, accumulated over almost 250 years, now exceeds $31 trillion. Largely due to tax cuts that reduced the national income, a full 25% of that amount was accumulated during the Trump administration. Guess what? The debt ceiling was raised three times during the Trump years. The Republicans never complained. Suddenly, because Biden is President, the Republicans in the House are balking at raising the debt ceiling. They’re acting like terrorists and, effectively as ransom, they’re insisting that they won’t allow a debt ceiling increase unless Biden and the Democrats agree to major concessions in future spending packages. In other words, the Republicans in the House are holding the economic security of America as a hostage. In all of American history, no faction in Congress has ever engaged in such abhorrent behavior. Because it is such monumental issue that shouldn’t be trifled with, raising the debt ceiling has never been used as a political pawn. The existing national debt has nothing to do with future spending. It represents the bills that are due for spending that Congress has previously authorized throughout American history. The Republicans in the House are playing a very, very dangerous game. The game is so dangerous that nobody has dared to play it before. I don’t know about you, but I have no appetite for political games when the economic future of America is on the line.
I’m an optimist. I refuse to believe that our leaders are so stupid that they’ll unleash economic Armageddon upon America. Doing so would be the economic equivalent of using a nuclear weapon. After some political theatrics, I’m cautiously optimistic that reasonable folks will find a way to raise the debt ceiling and avoid a default. Let’s hope that I’m not wrong. We’ll hit the “default date” in late June or early July. If I am wrong, we’re all in for a world of hurt. If we do default, America will never be the same. Keep your fingers crossed.

Jordan Neely, the man killed in chokehold on NYC subway, is remembered as an entertainer shattered by his mother’s murder

German Statesman, Oskar Lafontaine, Slams Hypocrite, Hegemonic and US’ Scrotums Licker EU Leaders' Spinelessness, Demands NATO's Dismemberment, Closure of US Bases
Tumblr media
Oskar Lafontaine
— Ilya Tsukanov | Monday November 28, 2022 | Sputnik International
Germany has found itself reaping the consequences of the crisis in Ukraine, facing skyrocketing energy and food costs, recession and the danger of permanent deindustrialization as Washington and Brussels continue to call for more and more sanctions against Russian energy to try to “Punish 😂😂😂” Moscow for its military operation in Ukraine.
The United States and its allies have spent the entire period since 2014 preparing for a confrontation with Russia in Ukraine, Oskar Lafontaine, a veteran German statesman with over forty years of political experience under his belt, has said.
“Of course, I also mean the conflict in Ukraine, which began with the Maidan putsch in Kiev in 2014. Since then, the US and its Western vassals have been arming Ukraine and systematically preparing it for confrontation with Russia. Ukraine thus became a de facto, if not de jure, member of NATO. This backstory has been studiously ignored by Western politicians and the mainstream media,” Lafontaine told Deutsche Wirtschafts Nachrichten in an interview published Sunday.
“For more than 100 years, it has been the declared aim of US policy to prevent German business and technology from merging with Russian raw materials at all cost. It is perfectly clear that, if you take this history into account, we are dealing with a US proxy war against Russia which has been prepared for a long time,” Lafontaine said.
Crop of Spineless Leaders
Lafontaine, who has worked under Willy Brandt, Helmut Schmidt, Helmut Kohl and Gerhard Schroder, and served as president of the Bundesrat, minister president of Saarland, minister of finance, and leader of Die Linke and the SPD, blasted the current crop of German and European leaders for going along with policies which have brought Berlin to the brink of disaster.
“It is unforgivable that the SPD in particular betrayed the legacy of Willy Brandt and his policy of détente, and did not even seriously insist on compliance with the Minsk Agreements,” the politician said, referring to the 2015 peace agreements meant to restore peace to the Donbass.
Lafontaine slammed the German government over its limp-wristed response to the destruction of the Nord Stream pipelines, which he characterized as a “declaration of war on Germany.” It was “Pathetic and Cowardly” of the federal government to try to “sweep incident under the carpet,” despite evidence that “the USA either carried out the attack directly or greenlit it,” the politician said.
“It was a hostile act against the Federal Republic, and not only against us, and once again makes clear that we must free ourselves from American tutelage,” Lafontaine stressed. The politician pressed his country’s leaders to force the removal of all US military bases and nuclear weapons from German soil, and called for the creation of a European security architecture with France, separate from NATO, which he called an “obsolete” alliance that acts as a “tool to enforce the US’s claim to remain the sole power in the world.”
Lafontaine admitted that freeing Germany from Washington’s grip wouldn’t be easy, but stressed that he can’t see “any alternative” to such a radical step. “If we and other European countries continue to remain under US tutelage, they will push us over a cliff to protect their own interests,” he said.
“To use a hackneyed expression: We are experiencing the birth pangs of the transitional phase from a unipolar to a multipolar world order. And the question arises whether we will have a place of our own in this new world order, or be drawn into Washington’s conflicts with Moscow and Beijing as American vassals,” the politician emphasized.
Recalling his decades of experience in politics, Lafontaine lamented in decades past, German leaders, “at least in some conflicts, had German interests in mind, and did not throw them overboard in anticipatory obedience” to Washington. “You need to have a backbone when you are the head of a country. The image of Chancellor Scholz standing like a schoolboy next to President Biden when he announced that nothing would come of Nord Stream 2 was humiliating.”
Ukraine Disaster
Asked whether he believed Washington has achieved its aims in Ukraine, Lafontaine said that the answer was both “Yes and No,” with the principle successes being the ruined relations between Russia and the European Union, and the “Sidelining” of Berlin and Brussels “as the US’s potential geostrategic and economic rivals, for the time being.”
“They are setting the policies of EU states even more than before the Ukraine conflict (thanks also to compliant politicians in Berlin and Brussels). They can also sell their dirty fracking-derived gas, and the US defense industry is doing great business,” the politician said.
“On the other hand, they have not succeeded in ‘ruining Russia’, as [German Foreign Minister Annalena] Baerbock put it…overthrowing [Vladimir] Putin and installing a puppet government in Moscow to get better access to Russian raw materials, as was the case in [Boris] Yeltsin’s time,” Lafontaine said.
“And I have the impression that Washington has now realized that they are biting on granite here. Despite massive arms deliveries to Ukraine and the dispatch of numerous ‘military advisors’, Russia, which is a nuclear power, cannot be defeated militarily. In addition, Western sanctions are proving to be a boomerang: they hurt Western states more than Russia and will cause deindustrialization, unemployment and poverty. Working people in Europe are paying the price for the world power ambitions of a mad elite in Washington and the cowardice of European leaders,” Lafontaine concluded.
