I started reading Lord of the Rings (bought Fellowship of the Ring like… last spring but never got around to starting) and I’d just like to say. Holy fuck what a slow book. I've always like the Barbiere overture but after last night where i was able to be ON STAGE while a LIVE ORCHESTRA PLAYED IT it is now The Greatest Overture In The World

#this may be one of my best theater experiences ever just for that #i love my costume and i love my role and the whole show is fun #but the best was during our dress rehearsal last night when we were waiting backstage #i was able to sneak over to the very edge of the wings and watch them rehearse the overture (which is played before the actors enter) #it was an incomparable experience. magic. #i've seen live orchestras before but being on the same stage as them and watching them so close and seeing the conductor like ten feet away #was !!! #i can't even describe it #i may or may not have been in tears #i can't wait until final dress tonight where i can watch them again #idk if they'll let me for the actual show #i got to see them twice last night #i did not want the music to end #i could have sat there watching them play that music forever and been so happy #opera #opera tag #live theater #live music #excited for the show tonight but sad it will be over

anyone else ever get like emotionally dependent on a certain hyperfixation? like your main and nearly only source of joy comes from that thing and content for it and it’s like the main thing you think about or that’s in the back of your mind all day? and it’s like you’re so dependent on it, and you’re aware of it, to the point where it’s like you’re blissful but also deeply sad at the exact same time when thinking about it or consuming it? it’s like a bone deep euphoric melancholy… and it’ll consume you for a while until you slowly become less dependent on it. and it’s like you don’t get to choose when that is. it just happens. either slowly or all at once. maybe another hyperfixation takes it place or something. anyway, yeah, i get like that sometimes. never know how long it’ll last.

Sleeping at Last | August 30, 2023: Super Blue Moon

#i saw it from the 6th level of my parking garage as i was leaving work and it stopped me in my tracks #it looked like an enormous beautiful ripe peach hanging in the sky #and of course was impossible to get any kind of worthy photo of #i rolled down all my windows and opened the sunroof and the night was balmy perfect and the sky was dark slate blue with no stars #i was looking for ryan's 2018 super blue blood moon song while driving home and catching glimpses of it through the trees and buildings #and instead found this (of course he made this!) #so instead of going directly home i did a little moon chasing and found a quiet neighborhood parking lot where i had a clear view of it #and sat there and listened to this song twice through while i watched it rise #and did a little thinking about how it reflects sunlight and how that means the sun is always with us kind of #and when it looked less like a giant peach moon and more like a normal peach moon i drove home #listening to january 31 2018 super blue blood moon - and yes from the garage tonight's moon looked-sounded more like that song (thrilling) #but by the time i was on my way home again after the moonrise it look-sounded more like this one (wondrous) #sleeping at last #super blue moon 2023 #audio

fave horror movies of this decade?

I think that movies like You're Next, The Black Phone, A Quiet Place, The Lighthouse, and Get Out were the most fun horror movies (with genuinely disturbing moments) but the horror movies that scared the shit out of me the most were definitely Hereditary and The Witch. And special mention to Nope for making me deeply uncomfortable and panic-sweating over that close-quarters shot of people being eaten and digested by the creature.

#i know its already been said but jesus christ #hereditary was just...scary on every level including the normal every day horrors #like its a huge fear to be responsible for accidentally killing someone just doing some every day thing like driving your car #especially if its a child #ESPECIALLY if its someone you love #its also a huge keep-you-awake-at-night thought of having to see a loved one horribly hurt #and the fear of being emotionally rejected by a parent #and on top of all of that you have toni collette being a fucking raw nerve with every emotion she's throwing out #with supernatural horror thrown in and done really well #10/10 I have seen hereditary twice and dont know if I can watch it ever again
