thank you @samaritanpoledancing for this photo of the weirdest art theft i've experienced so far (i've also had bots selling my art on amazon and ppl repeatedly selling my stuff on redbubble).
i love being an artist in this capitalist hellscape where companies (and also individual art thieves) can just go online and steal all the art they want and turn them into products such as socks or tshirts and then sell them without permission or any compensation to the artists. :)
and, best of all there are no consequences whatsoever to them because i'm just one person and i can't afford to take any legal action (and in case of fanart, i couldn’t anyway) and meanwhile i have to work a job to earn money because i don't make enough from my art to even be a full time creator.
so here's a reminder that if you see my art being sold
on t-shirts, clothing or any other textiles
on mugs, phone cases, bags, clocks etc
anywhere else other than in my online stores that i have linked to on my social media and websites
then that art has been stolen. the only merch i sell are art prints, stickers and zines (stuff printed on paper) and some buttons, that's it. i am not planning to make any other type of merch, even though i used to sell other things in the past. i’ve also stopped using print on demand services bc the cut they give to artists is ridiculously small unless you sell a ton of stuff.
if you're buying something from sites like Redbubble or Teespring etc then please try to verify that what you're buying has been uploaded by the artist (check the uploader's social media and website, see if the other designs they've uploaded are all the same style/quality etc).
it's incredibly easy to steal art and make merch out of it and no measure we as artists can take will stop that if someone is determined. i know my art gets reposted in other places, i can't do anything about it. i don’t go after the ppl who repost it bc i find it stressful and a waste of time tbh. and yeah, sometimes my art gets sold too. literally the only way to stop that is to not post anything online, ever.
but i like that i can post my art here and on other sites and potentially lots of ppl can see it for free. I hate that capitalism demands i make my creative work into a commodity. but it’s impossible to be a full time artist and not be earning money from your work somehow (unless someone else provides for you i guess, or you have enough patrons to make it sustainable).
honestly, i don’t even want to be selling art at all. but for now i have to if i ever want to become a full time artist, so i want to sell my stuff on my terms. i have put so much time, consideration and work into figuring out what sort of merch to even make, how to make it, how to manage shipping and how to run an online store. so i find it incredibly disrespectful and demoralizing that my art gets sold for profit by other ppl/companies and turned into products that i don’t want existing in the first place.

Master list not very mastery
This is going to be my sideblog for art, my main is apinkline2715, I wouldn't have made a side blog but I like sharing silly things and the fanarts are very quickly going to get lost, so if you only want fanarts here is the place :D Mostly Sanders sides but I do have other fandoms (Marvel in general, Batman, various cartoons) Welcome here! I'm open to asks so please come chat if you want!
If you ever need me to add another trigger warning to ANYTHING please go ahead!
Courtroom Sketches
Because everything looks better if it looks like an old-time artist did it because cameras are not allowed inside a legal proceeding
Patton "Look I'm a lawyer!" Sanders
Janus "We live in a society" Sanders
Virgil "why do I ever bother- oh right because I hate you" Sanders
Thomas "Florida man goes to trial against himself and loses" Sanders
Logan "Why are you all like this" Sanders
Roman "haha I shouldn't have done that" Sanders
Bookmarks!!
I made bookmarks of the sides!!! and you can print them on cardboard so that you may use them too! they all are individual bookmarks but I uploaded some of these in the same post as others
Patton -- Roman and Remus -- Virgil and Logan -- Janus -- c!Thomas
Character redesigns!
@beauty-and-passion made this post theorizing on how the outfits of the sides could evolve! and this is my interpretation of that
Roman and Remus -- Virgil and Logan -- Patton -- Janus
Other things:
I also made a redbubble, in case you'd like anything here on sticker form or something else like a notebook!

A sticker sheet should be a thing I can do, I thought to myself this morning. I looked over instructions and file sizes and started messing around with my drawings. I almost immediately encountered ghost pixels that I couldn’t find in my original files but would show up on redbubble uploads. I carefully slid my eraser over and over again in between my drawings. That worked. But I was realizing that my images might be too close. So I’m well over 12 different file uploads later trying to get separation for individual stickers and I’ve finally got it!

And now redbubble is like, oh but at the smallest size is still fucked up, Jennifer!
Cool. [edit- I treated myself to some lunch and fresh clothes and then fixed those stickers!]

Hey Happy Valentine’s Day I finished the Flicker Doodles finally
I have a sheet on my Redbubble that has all of them, but eventually I’m going to upload individual ones too so there’s an option to get bigger stickers

I think the sticker idea sounds wonderful! Even though you’d be monetizing on it, I feel like it’s less “all consuming” than any other way of monetizing on art cause I feel like it’s a little less serious maybe? That OF COURSE isn’t to say that there is no artistry involved in the process because there is, But you can, I feel, have a bit more freedom, and that’s just in the creative process, because the people I know that sell art in other forms, like prints for instance, have also had a WHOLE ordeal with that! A lot have to try various printing places to see which one they like most, or end up buying one of those crazy expensive, massive printers to do it themselves to get it just right, so I think the stickers is honestly a fantastic way to start, less complicated, more fun and more free! -shy anon
yeah, the way i’ve been thinking about it is like, each month i can design a new sticker sheet (probably based on whatever bujo theme i’m doing but whatever) and maybe some like individual stickers that are larger and then the rest of the month is just about filling orders which i can’t imagine will be too time consuming??
i’ve considered doing prints and stuff too but most of my art is related to my weekly bullet journal set ups rather than like actual paintings or whatever so it’s like ideal for transferring to stickers and stuff that other people can use in their planners and things. it’s something i could potentially expand into if i wanted to but it defs sounds a lot more complicated lmao
(i actually didnt think of a printer 😅 but id probs need one of them too cause for the last like 10 years or whatever ive just done any printing i needed to do at work on the school’s printer lmao)
but even if i didn’t start doing it myself i could use a website like redbubble that does all the printing/shipping for me. i have less control over it and idk what sort of materials they use (if i was doing it myself through etsy i’d try to use as much sustainable stuff as possible and actually last night i stumbled upon a company that produces recyclable shipping bags and customisable tissue paper and stuff which sound so fucking cute as well as being environmentally friendly!) but it would just mean i could design things, upload them and then not have to worry about it lmao
idk it’s defs something i’m considering and i might have a scout around over the boxing day sales and see what sort of a deal i could get on a printer or cricut machine 🤷‍♀️
but man, thinking about all this makes me want to buy my own place and like set up a little office so i don’t have to cram everything into my shitty bedroom kjskfjksfj (its not gonna happen any time soon, not until we get the house to a point where it could be sold but its the current Dream)
