i don't want anybody adapting the incal, which is most interesting as a historical artifact than anything. i loved the book - it is a beautiful piece of art - but it has to be understood as a product of its time, and i don't think it can be divorced from that context and made "funny." sure, it's colorful, but it's a very serious piece of work. it's also one of the most racist things i've ever read.

the incal is a major influence on most science fiction that exists today, and was an early expression of a lot of anxieties about the future that are still relevant today. it also completely loses thread of the plot about halfway through to become a surrealist rumination on the nature of reality and evil. and butt stuff, i think, that wasn't entirely clear.

it's a weird book, and i don't think it will make a good hollywood movie. it's not that i don't think taika is a good choice for the project - he's an interesting choice, to say the least - but i don't think anybody would be right for this project, and i don't want to see his humorous tone interpreting the racist caricatures that are central to the structure of the novel itself.

Mini Update - 11/8/22

I'm more or less recovered from my surgery (got my tubes ✂️). I wasn't in pain until I returned to work but I still took a full week off from my vanilla job because work sucks and I couldn't stand/walk for long periods of time.

I mostly just rested on the couch but I managed to still make it to class that week since I could just sit and listen to the lecture. Towards the end of the week, I felt well enough to meet a friend for lunch (who was also recovering from surgery) and bought a bunch of books from a massive used book sale.

First days back at work were 11 hour shifts and hellish but now I'm about 98% recovered 3 weeks post surgery. I ended up only paying ~$200 out of pocket 😭🙏

Anyways, the semester is almost over and I'm on track to get an A in my class. Its a business class and I'm currently writing a traditional business plan for a new business I'll be starting with money earned from escorting and side businesses/revenue (real estate and other investments) in the future. It's in the same industry as my vanilla job so I already have almost 10 years experience and a large network to my advantage. I'm anticipating needing around $6 million in start up costs. This will be self funded (by choice as I don't want to give away a percentage of the business). My goal is to open the first location in Spring 2028.

In other news, a recruiter contacted me about doing some consulting for various clients in my vanilla industry. It's essentially paid per hour so freelance. Hopefully I can generate some extra networking and income out of this :)

Last week I got to finally be a part of a corporate walk at my vanilla job and the VP seemed impressed by my knowledge and said I was a hard worker. I feel really unappreciated at my job so this was great to hear.

Today was a productive day! I got some admin things done (bills, etc.), posted some items to eBay, and started downloading bank transactions so I can analyze my expenses for 2023.

It would be a lot more convenient to use an accounting program like Quicken to automatically download and categorize expenses but I’m not into paying that subscription fee. I’ll have to use Excel formulas to “categorize” my monthly expenses on a spreadsheet.

This is a lot of work and I need to stay motivated by keeping my goals in mind. Without knowing why I’m doing tis, I may easily lose sight and give up on analyzing my finances.

Current goals: I want to do a light rehab on my first floor so that I have to options of using my home as a short-term rental or as a client incall. Also, I am thinking about getting another home. I need to figure out what I can afford.

These aliens are also involved with Noah, Adam and Eve, Cain and Abel, Lucifer and the Archangel Michael, and a cast of personages more obscure and weird than any book of the apocrypha.

To understand Forming (assuming "understand" is the correct verb here), picture some lost Gnostic text translated by Jay (of Jay and Silent Bob) at his cussin-est, under commission by a delusional would-be cult-founder who cut his teeth on the work of Fletcher Hanks and who really liked drawings of weiners and boobies.

I am instead going to provide an update on a project I am working on. I am currently writing my own space opera/sci-fi fantasy novel and have hit a total creative goldmine. I felt it would be much more productive and appropriate to do it in a series where I talk about Star Wars for twelve straight days, to talk about a novel I’m working on where one of the biggest subconscious influences on this project is Star Wars, I am so excited about the project and have been working on it for quite a long time. Getting to be able to create this vast space opera universe of my own has been so awesome and is just such a cool creative experience. I am working very hard on this manuscript and am very excited about it.

I always wanted to tell a deeply sophisticated science fiction epic unlike any you’ve ever seen before. This is my opportunity and I am just so highly enthusiastic about this project and cannot wait for everyone to see it. I will be digging deep into this project in 2020 and complete the entirety of the first draft. In terms of inspiration outside of Star Wars for this epic space opera are Flash Gordon, Valerian, old-school Jack Kirby comics, Firefly/Serenity, The Incal and other works of Alejando Jodorowsky, Frank Herbert’s Dune as well as the art of Moebius, there’s so much outside of that, that deeply inspired me. A lot of it did so intrinsically. My mission is to just tell an interesting story that is character-driven and emotionally resonant but is also relevant to today and is most importantly, a good story.
