NEW BIRBIES when did they arrive??

Aah I posted about them back in November when they moved in, but then I realized I’ve never given any updates.

They’re Bourke’s parakeets named Jack and Alana, because that was the fandom my friend was in when she got them.  She needed to rehome them after a move and a new job.  They’re very sweet little creatures--not tame enough to handle, but they’ve gotten pretty comfortable here by now and they chirp around quietly doing their little chirpy things.  And it’s nice for grouchy old man Pinto to have bird neighbors again.

slowly handling shit: part 39 

preface: i’m on time! and i am very distracted by all the good birbs fluttering about outside my window. they’re so good. mostly housefinches and songsparrows; the black capped chickadees come earlier in the morning. 

breakfast and sleep: so i forget what happens on days i have school off? i’m planning on working on it- as in not staying up late because i don’t have school the next day. which is probably going to be a problem during uni. (and here, i spent some time - oh there’s a red capped house finch, what a dearie - googling acceptance rates to the universities i applied to and then some more time scrolling through university reddit pages). that said i think i’ve hit breakfast every day and while i had some sevens this week i’ve also had three nines. score!  

exercise: hit me goal!!!!! i lifted weights right before doing this, and i definitely used to be able to do more reps before getting tired lol 

flora and fauna: had to pinch me basil again; poor babe was getting too close to the light. thinking of calling the basil plant “jack”, since it seems like jack’s sticking around. i might have to repot jack soon though, whenever i water jack no water comes out the bottom. i’m scared to because the plant light can only be raised so high. orrrr i could shuffle around some desks to fix that... squish is doing well, i put my desk lamp on a box of coasters so persephone doesn’t toast her new fronds, and my oregano is sprouting!! 

face care: kinda average this week but still decent. oh! a little flock of chickadees has arrived. earlier there was a bigass stellar’s jay that came to see what the fuss was about. sadly the feeder is too small for her so she left. if i can fix my inconsistent sleep schedule i think i’ll be better about weekends, and because i have a four day weekend you can imagine how it’s been. ohh, hungry lil spheres. 

socializing: i’ve been talking with people but kinda infrequently. yesterday i went out with my mom to celebrate my good grades- i can’t remember if i talked about it last week but i have 97 in law, 94 in english, 96 in christian studies and a ninety smth in art. maybe 94? anyhow, we had a good talk at a lebanese restaurant and i’m planning to meet up with a friend next week. so like, not the best but not the worst. 

room cleaning: 120/105! doing pretty good, i spent thursday cleaning and friday working on a persuasive essay. not the whole day, but i alloted time to do those things. today is more cleaning and more essay. 

how i’ve been: i’ve been feeling a lot better since finishing my applications. i think them being unfinished was stressing me out a lot indirectly- like i wasn’t worrying specifically about them but they were causing me anxiety? i’m still a bit anxious but i’m combatting it by doing research and reminding myself not to worry about things i can’t control. i’ve gotten really good grades this first term and all i need to do is to continue to do my best. i was really surprised when i got my report card because i hadn’t been working hard for the grade, i was just doing it because it helped me feel less stressed and better about myself. as in, doing homework on time makes me feel on top of things. 

bonus things i’d like to mention: i need to find something to do to put myself to sleep sooner that isn’t melatonin 

spanish: ohhh there’s so many birbies,,, bless them,,,,,,, bless them,,,,,,,,,,,,, i didn’t hit my spanish goal (three short) - likely because of the essay and university applications. i’m going to let myself be okay with that. sometimes my plate is too full; i have finite time in a week and finite energy to get shit done. 

music: i’ve been singing and i’ve probably hit 40 ish minutes? i gotta start touching instruments other than my pipes tho 

me arms wiggly from liftin’ weights so i’m gonna put them to use writing my essay and also doing some quick laundry before i forget

Rescue Mission

Step One: We pack our gear. Right after we get gear. Step Two: We either jack a car or we use our charm to get someone to drive us halfway to New Jersey and THEN we jack the car. Step Three: We viciously slather @thetabirb 's mother with honey and brutally pelt her with birdseed and apple bits and throw her into the woods behind her house. Step Four: There is no Step Four. With the body already disposed of we don't need a Step Four. Step Five: We rescue the babby birb theta's ridiculously flippant and neglectful mother has purchased and is leaving alone and unattended in a house with a cat roaming freely. Whether the parrotlet is in her to cage (knowing her, way too small and unstimulating) or not is irrelevant, it's very stressful for birds. Step Six: We open a tin of cat food and place a strawberry top atop of it as garnish. We tell kitty he is a good kitty and we love him. Step Seven: We scritch kitty's ears. Step Eight: We leave the hellpit go to a pet store. Step Nine: We adopt babby birb and rename her Babby Birby. Step Ten: We go home happy and with Babby Birby, driving our jacked car.
