AYO DETECTIVE BOYS !!
These refs have been a long time coming and I'm so glad I was able to get to them. My next post is going to be about the Detective Gods which all have a brief desc.
Below the cut are Reginald's and Right's backstories/history.
Content Warnings! Reginald - child neglect, trauma from fire, loss of a loved one, adoption, and general heavy themes Right - betrayal of a long-time friend, drug use (smoking as escapism)
Reginald Adopted as a toddler, Reginald Suave was seen as a golden hope amongst his parents. They had tried for years to have children but they had no luck, and thus adoption was seen as their best option. Miraculously, however, his parents did manage to have a child, Daffodil. Reginald's presence as a golden hope suddenly was drafted as Daffodil was a miracle child. Reginald ended up being very close with his sister, making escapes many times to go and watch the trains that would pass by their house. When Reginald was 14, there was a fire at their house, but Daffodil did not make it out. His parents deeply grieved the death of their daughter and the apparency of Reginald being neglected fully became apparent to him. Reginald would disappear for days afterward, wouldn't come back to the house until late and it was often a case that his parents spared him half a glance. For Reginald, the countryside, his parents-- he didn't want to stay any longer. So he got his bags and left for the big city. Luckily, an uncle (his father's brother), Terrence Suave ran into him on the street and quickly offered him a place to say. Terrence had of course heard of what had happened to Daffodil, but he didn't question why Reginald was out on his own. He cared for him as a father-- taking him in, offering him work-- anything to help him out in his time of need. Reginald was never a man of emotion, and Terrence in the present only recalls two times to see him cry: the first being the night he took him in. Terrence assumed a sort of father figure to him. A young detective himself, Terry was dedicated to giving Reginald another chance. Reginald himself would follow in Terrence's footsteps and joined the police prescient at 17 and was promoted to Lieutenant at 24. Terrence later became captain. Reginald didn't move out of the house until his lieutenant status, since he didn't want to be a burden on the man who'd cared for him. At some point in his teenage years, Terry offered to adopted him as his son, marking the second time Reg had ever cried in front of him. Being the captain's son, this would usually be something a lot of people would take pride in. Whilst his badge says "Reginald Suave", a lot of people assumed that Reginald was trying to stick it to the captain in a way of saying "we're on the same status" instead of actually being his son. So Reginald opted instead for the last name "Copperbottom", after Detective Copperbottom. Detective Copperbottom is a whole other story, but it's important to note that Copperbottom is a sort of mythical figure with an infamous reputation for good deeds, kind of like a Robin Hood. Regardless, in the present, Reginlad is pushing mid-thirities and is completely content with life. He's got a job, barely spends anything, and works as much as he can. His father being his father does not exactly agree with this lifestyle-- so what better way than to give him a partner? The ever-famous Detective Right Hanson Manfred.
Right
Marcus Hansen Manfred comes from a family of 14 children with him being exactly the middle. He has two loving mothers (one of whom is transgender) and a loving father. Three parents and 14 children living in the countryside of Lidimay (one of the three states of Cruxidul). You could say life as a young healthy, hearty young boy was all the fun.
And most certainly it was. But as much as Marcus loved his family, his strongest bond grew with that of his childhood friend, Edward "Eddie" Jones. Eddie went to Marcus' house as a child to be home schooled by one of Marcus' mothers, amongst other children, and Eddie and Marcus quickly became great friends. Through and through, the two would go everywhere together. Tending to the farmside, catching trains together-- nothing was boring.
Marcus originally wanted to stay home and take a farming job like much of his family, but Eddie had plans for the big city: Revensteed. There, crime was afoot, and it needed heros like Eddie to come in and stop! Marcus didn't want to let go, so seemingly out of no where, he announced he was going to join Eddie in the police force.
At 16 (Marc) and 17 (Ed), the two of them got themselves junior position as partners on the north side of town, and they were damn good at what they did. Eddie was clearly built for this; he was a natural. Everything they did was imaculate. But Marcus couldn't keep up with the speed of his partner. Somehow, he always lagged behind in something, and it got to Marcus signfificantly. Eddie truly had a passion for this, and Marcus wasn't the shining example he wished he was.
Marcus was never a criminal, but he found himself in the wrong crowd some of the time in his despair. A bar, a club-- the usual place to destress. If he wasn't in a good mood, this would be the place he would go.
At 25 (Marc) and 26, the two of them faced a final straw. Eddie had been wanting to excel to lieutenant, possibly even captain. But Marcus wasn't in a position for the two of them to remain partners if this were to happen. Eddie was to be relocated to the South (where the crime is the worst), and Marcus simply couldn't compete with that. Marcus urged him to stay-- to come up with something to comprimise.
It ended up blowing in his face. The hugest fight they've ever had right then and there. Everything came out all at once. Marcus didn't want this to be the end, but Eddie got his bags to leave for the South and didn't say goodbye.
That was truly the end of their partnership.
Marcus was in pieces. He wished and envied and hated that man-- he didn't think that he'd done anything wrong. He just wanted the best for the both of them, didn't he? Whatever-- it wasn't his fault. And Marcus would continue to be in this denial for a very, very long time. In his fit of depression, Marcus stumbled upon quite the location: Caisno Radman. It was a place of pleasure, relaxation-- anything to keep the troubles away from people. Marcus wasn't sure why he went there; it was just to get the stress of his shoulders.
But somehow, he met someone. Jullian Harp. Jullian was a sly fellow, from outside the country who seemed to always be around queer hot spots like Casino Radman. In somehow in a mix of conversation, Jullian mistakes Marcus' name for "Right". It ended up sticking out to Marcus, and he figured that "Right", as an alias in the detective agency, may be a little less painful.
Jullian and him ended up dating for several months before they broke off on equal terms, and they are very distant friends now, esepically since Jullian is indeed an assosiate of a criminal mafia (Radman).
Yet, now "Right" Hansen Manfred works still in his detective position. He has refused for years to get a new partner, but his luck may just have run out when he gets news from the captain one day.

Welp, I spent my 15 hours in 2 days just for this!
I saw one of my favorite korean drama's poster picture on my gallery, and somehow it reminds me of @mintyfrosty 's detective AU, so I decided to draw these two similar to the poster!
I'm not going to tell you what K-drama's poster that inspired me, but I'm sure at least one of you who saw this know! X3
(Meep, this is the first fanart I made that took me more than 10 hours to do, and it's also the first fanart I did like a poster! So minty, I hope you like it!)

Lieutenant Reginald “Louis” Copperbottom: One of the best Lieutenants in the entire Toppat Detective Agency has found himself stuck with a stoic partner and detective named “Right”. Whilst frustrated with the decision by Captain Suave, business is business as Reginald makes an attempt to get along with his new partner. The two of them go on many different cases, linked to homoicide.

A different vampire AU where Henry is a serial killer vampire and Reg and Right are detectives trying to catch the vampire responsible. Not expecting the vampire to flirt with both of them that is.
At first, Detective Reginald Copperbottom and his Lieutenant, Right Manfred, thought these murders were unrelated to anything, besides the snow white hair flirty vampire kind of being the cause of all these deaths. But apparently there was a corruption within the police force and Reginald and Right stumbled upon it.
Turns out Wallace Dagwood, Johnny Panzer, Amelia Esteban and Gene Fredrickson were major crime lords, politicians and criminals that paid off the police and judges to get set free for their crimes.
So it seemed the vampire was enacting his own brand of paranormal justice. Reginald still had no idea on exactly why the vampire was doing this, but it did seem for the time being that the killings were against those that weren't the most morally greatest. Though Reginald would realize that he and Right were in too deep in investigating this corruption.
---
Right returned home to his small apartment, to the sound of a handgun being loaded and the newest police department recruit, Sven Svensson, standing in his living room. Turns out Sven wasn't very fond of Reginald and Right and since they are poking their nose in business that they shouldn't, Sven gets to gleefully remove the problem.
The first shot hit Right's shoulder and the second was caught in mid air by a very pissed off white hair vampire. The vampire put himself infront of the injured lieutenant, and lunged towards Sven, who found out quickly that outrunning this monster wasn't happening.
The vampire grabbed Sven and thrusted him into the apartment wall and demanded Sven to tell all. Sven's face went blank as he told all, that Police Chief Petrov wanted Right and Reginald dead, just like he wanted the rookie Charles Calvin dead.
Right closed his eyes before the vampire enjoyed his meal. Despite the sounds Right was hearing, Sven didn't scream. The vampire only told Right that he would be right back and to stay put, Right deciding that trying to take on a vampire would be a bad idea.
Atleast the vampire had taken Sven with him and returned shortly afterwards with a medical kit. As the vampire was patching Right up, he explained everything.
---
The vampire's name is Sir Henry Suave, would be vampire heir to his covenant, if it wasn't for the fact that a horrible fire had wiped most of the vampires out. Henry lived a lonely life until a kind old man named Hubert Galeforce and his son Charles Calvin, gave him a home and soon a family.
Henry and Charles were practically brothers and Hubert was a wonderful father figure to Henry. Henry had almost forgotten he was a vampire and was enjoying his human life. Until the day Charles was mysteriously killed off duty.
Henry still doesn't the exact details, only that Charles didn't like a thing his boss was doing and despite Galeforce telling Charles to let it go, he didn't. And the next day Charles was killed in a freak boating accident. No one investigated and Hubert just went on with life like he never had a son.
Henry left the house and from there, had started his own investigation since the police could care less. And those who supported such corruption, were swiftly taken care of since the justice system failed.
---
Right then realized that Reginald was probably back at his office still, and that if Police Chief Dmitri sent Sven on Right, that means Reginald could be in danger. Before Right could say anything else, Henry had left, most likely headed towards Reginald. Right wasn't going to let an injury stop him and decided to head back to the office as well.
They could only hope that Reginald was safe.

Love Without Words
DID I HEAR DETECTIVE AU FLUFF!?! WELL GUESS WHAT YA GOT IT!!!
Hope you enjoy this!
Tick. Tick. Ti-- SMASH
It was a wonder how the Hell Reginald put up with that pocket watch ticking in his pocket all the damn time.
Especially in a time like this; when it was just Reginald and papers. Papers upon Papers upon Papers.
Same old bullshit, he had known.
Of course, every one of them was important, but you learned that your eyes got tired of the same black lettering that came from the typewriter. The same pattern over and over and over. It made his mind go insane. Since, well, this job had a lot of this. Just had a different flavour of spice with every new case you received. Some horrific murders, others manslaughter, others just self-defence. And everyone falling under the bracket he worked under. Homicide.
Well, him and his 'partner.'
It was no secret to The Toppat Detective Agency that the two despised one another. At least, Lieutenant Copperbottom seemed to think so. Detective Right treated him like garbage; the only REAL explanation was that he hated the lieutenant.
And dear God, Reginald wished he shared that sentiment. He didn't.
Letting out a grievous sigh, the lieutenant leaned back in his chair, letting his aching shoulders stretch out from being hunched. Overworking yourself came with many pitfalls, but pained muscles had to be the worse of it. At least in his opinion. Besides, sleepness nights and empty stomachs had become the regular for him. This was homicide they were dealing with; not a joke. He could miss some of that out for his work; this was serious. Deathly so. Yet, his tired bones did make him regret somedays. This was one of those days.
Feeling his eyes look forward, a scoff came to his lips, seeing the lack of his partner across the desk. Must've gotten up when he was deep in thought; obvious because of how scattered the papers were (Reginald wished he would clean up one day). Mumbling to himself, the lieutenant rose out of his seat, neatly tucking it in as the bones in his lanky frame popped. Wasn't long before quiet footsteps echoed through the silent agency leading towards the balcony that had a door half-open. Exactly what he expected to see; Right looking out to the city with a cigar in his hand.
Of course.
"Thought I told you to stop smoking." Grumbled Reginald, having his arms folded, soon being by Right's side within a couple of steps. The detective gave some sort of a grunt for an answer, taking in a long inhale of smoke and blowing it out to the wind.
People did what they could to get by with the stress of the 1920s. Liquor was one of them, which Reginald dabbled in slightly. Smoking was the other; Right seemed to be on that lead.
...
"Want one? A smoke gets yer mind 'f t'ings, ya know."
"Pass, thank you."
...
"Wot's 'at? On yer wrist t' ere?"
Oh.
At the comment, Lieutenant Copperbottom looked down, eyes brushing over the dollar chain bracelet that ran over his gloved wrist. Feeling his heart brighten at the sight, Reginald leaned an elbow against the railing of the balcony, resting his chin in his hand, feeling the wind flow through his hair. A million lights greeted his eyes as they fell to the sea of bustling activity within the streets of the city. Huh. He'd never taken the time to look at the view before. With his gaze out in the distance, the answer formed.
"Oh. Recently, I've been receiving these notes on my desk. Someone's got an attraction towards me in the agency, I believe. Small things, like a cup of coffee and a note wishing I had a good day. Or, oh, finding my papers stacked up neatly, just the way I liked it when I fall asleep at my desk."
Loosely, he jingled the jewellery with a flick of his wrist. "Found this today on my desk with 'from the one who loves you most.' written on a napkin."
Judging by the other's movement, Reginald assumed the other looked down to observe it.
Right had seen it before, he realised. On one of their first cases, Reginald had spotted the sight of it in the window of a jewellery shop. Immediately, he fell in love, telling himself to save up for it (even though he'd much rather steal it but that didn't look good for his reputation). Yet now, someone had heard of that interest and bought or stole it for him, leaving it anonymously on his desk. Which, to be fair, was flattering. Money didn't come easy nowadays; always a struggle to get by with the growing popularity in Moonshine. The question was; who had the money AND the dedication to Reginald to spend so much on him? Well, his partner had probably spread the word of it around the agency, he concluded; since why the Hell would Right buy such a gift for him and leave it anonymously on his desk? And well, the detective had a distaste for the lieutenant. No way he would do such a thing if he hated him.
"Yeah, right. So someone's got a big ol' crush on ye?" Mumbled the detective, taking another intake of smoke.
Well. Yes. Seemed to point toward that conclusion.
"Suppose you're right. Didn't think you'd have an interest in it." The lieutenant's ears caught the sound of the detective scoffing.
"Don't. Just find it funny someone's got the hots f' ya. Can ya blame me? Who'd wanna go pinning after you?"
... Well. ... Hm.
It...wasn't a secret that Reginald had quite the ego and took a lot of pride in his work. And so, it made a brief amount of sense why Right was so abrasive with his banter. Thought he could take it. And he could! He most certainly could; Reginald always spitting back something to amend to his comments. Curiously, however, the same rule didn't apply to this, the lieutenant's voice feeling dry as he mumbled something underneath his breath, the reflection of the night's lights in his eyes.
Heh. Who WOULD want to go pinning after him? "I don't know. I don't know."
...wasn't expecting his voice to break. Nor the tear that fell from the balcony to clash with the concrete ground after a long fall. A gloved hand brushed by his left eye, straightening himself up from the balcony. The small-dollar, gold bracelet on his arm twinked back at him, the lieutenant letting his voice give out a sigh. "I dunno. Probably an idiot."
"Ye know I'm only jokin', yah?" ...eh?
Curiosity filling his torn spirit, the shorter male turned his eyes up to his partner, who had his gaze somewhere out in the distance. Cigar twisting in his finger, the detective let out a grunt. "'m sure ye gonna find love."
... "...what?"
Well, that was... ...certainly unexpected. Yet welcomely unexpected. Just 2 minutes, Right said something that completely contradicted his statement, yet that was 'joking' as he phrased it. No way he was being genuine about Reginald having someone who was in love with him? That was almost perfect teasing material. Feeling conflicted, the lieutenant raised an eyebrow at hm. "Since when do you...not joke about things like this?"
"'til now, s'ppose." Alright then, be vague. Wasn't like that was the most out of character thing the detective had ever said to him.
Keeping a curious eye on him, Reginald reached down to grab a cigar from the pack that Right had left carelessly on a bench out on the balcony. And whilst he discouraged smoking, it was probably important to take a moment to ground himself, even if that was through Tabacco. Already heard Right scoff out a smile. "Thought ya said smokin''s bad for ya."
"It is. But do as I say, not as I do."
... Sure he was going to find love? Reginald's eyes fell to the pendant along his wrist, letting out a breath of smoke of his own.
If he was a fool, he might've thought that Right was trying to comfort him from the statement he made. Despite being a lieutenant and a master of handling evidence, he hadn't a clue to why he made such a statement when Right was usually coarse with his language. Whatever the reason, it was a mystery to him. The least he could do was to say: "Thank you..."
The other's eyes turned up from the city, body turning in his direction. "F' wot?"
"Figure it out; you're a detective." Without another sigh of smoke, Reginald dropped his cigar to the floor, stamping on it before making a walk back inside. The break was over. Had to return to work.
Blinking curiously at the door, the detective slowly turned himself back to the city, carelessly letting the cigar fall from his fingers down to the bustling city below. Someone else could deal with it. Finding himself to be very much along, Right planted both of elbows against the railing holding his face in both of his hands.
"'I dunno. Prob'bly an idiot.'" Quoted the detective, shaking his head to himself. "Ya know this idiot ain't good with 'is words."

I am interested on your turnabout au. Can you tell me some infos?
The Turntable AU is an AU in which most (except Dmitri at The Wall) factions have been swapped. Government and Toppats have been swapped, and the prisoners and guards at The Wall have been swapped! The most fun part I think is: they retain (how I interpret-) the personalities they had before the swap, for the most part!
There’s The Lieutenant (RHM, but not a Right Hand Man), who’s personality has been a bit changed, due to the different circumstances that gave him the ability to join the military.
There’s General Copperbottom (Reginald), who I’ve tried to keep canon personality-wise for the most part, with a bit more of a callous streak.
The TCW crew who are in the military in this AU are against General Copperbottom because he murdered the previous general, lied about it, and threatened them into secrecy with the help of his lieutenant.
Galeforce is the leader of The Toppat Clan, a band of petty thieves that the military (wrongfully) suspects of murder.
Canterbury is the Right Hand Man, who was turned into a cyborg after almost two years of enhanced interrogation (at the hands of The Lieutenant).
And Henry Stickman is someone who stumbled into this fucking mess.

The H.J. Canterbury Log (page 1)
Content warnings: sensory torture methods, etc etc, very fun stuff!
The H.J. Canterbury Log
Lieutenant R. H. M
May 27th, 2013
While Henry Stickman didn’t succeed in bringing solid evidence in, he brought us the Toppats Right Hand: H. J. Canterbury. Under basic questioning, he’s been unresponsive, but nobody expected answers in a day. General Copperbottom voiced concerns to me that he might not say anything at all. I don’t think these concerns are warranted.
February 3rd, 2014
It’s been a while. We keep bringing him out to ask questions, but still nothing new is gleaned. He stays in his cell. We bring him out. We grill him for hours on end. He doesn’t budge. He won’t budge at all if we keep up this leniency. I’ll check with the general; see if some strings can be pulled for the sake of better results.
May 17th, 2014
I decided today would be the appropriate day to enact the first set of interrogation techniques that have been approved. I’ve requested further methods, but due to the fact we’re already stretching ethics here, I’ve been asked to make due until they prove useless. That’s fine. The most effective mindset in interrogation is to think things couldn’t get any worse. Then they do.
Interrogation techniques used in the past months:
June 5th: Sensory deprivation
June 15th: Sensory overload
July 7th: One hour of normalcy (Canterbury became highly paranoid and agitated. Anticipation for what’s coming seems to be an effective method for him.)
August 2nd: Sleep Deprivation (Had to be cut short 2 weeks in, once his speech started slurring beyond comprehension. What’s the point of a confession if we can’t hear it?)
January 1st, 2015
We’ve repeated the same methods a few times, but we got little of importance out of him. So far, he’s only revealed things that wouldn’t be worth interrogating him for. General Copperbottom wants me to be harsher, but the higher-ups are being very hard-assed about this. Unfortunately for them, I’m Reginald’s lieutenant. Not theirs.
