2022 4 Continents entry # 7
Pairs free program
Dudek/Deschamps(CAN)
Thoughts: I never realized how pretty this music is. But still not a big fan of her dress.
McBeath/Bartholomay(USA)
Thoughts: this is VERY pink. Some people can pull it off. And actually Nate did a better job than Katie for once.
Chan/Howe(USA)
Thoughts: poor Em. That fall on the throw triple loop looked really scary.
Walsh/Michaud(CAN)
Thoughts: So, I think I forgot to say how pretty Spencer looked in the FS. But there’s pretty, and then there’s Evelyn Walsh knock you off your feet pretty!
Lu/Mitrofanov(USA)
Thoughts: I used to think these two were just showoffs. But Misha is so pretty. I guess we like him now.
Women short program
Victoria Alcantara(AUS)
Thoughts: is her dress pink underneath?! So cute.

According to the cast list of the ice show An Evening with Champions, it seems that Audrey Lu and Misha Mitrofanov have split. He is skating with Hazel Collier, and she is skating in Singles.
I linked the cast list in the source.

Well she lost a bit of steam after the fall but man. Misha and Audrey should be extremely proud. With that skate and their fantastic SP skate from yesterday they've had such a great debut.
OMMMG THEY'RE GETTING A MEDAL!!!!!!!

So out of Alysa and Bradie, who will successfully petition onto the Olympic team? Are Mariah and Karen the other two spots? Does Gracie Gold have a shot at all? It's super intriguing! I think the men's is pretty sewn up with Nathan, Vincent and Jason. Pairs is a big ??? with only two spots available. And who gets the 3rd ice dance spot between Hawayek/Baker and Green/Parsons? So many questions!
ANON I AM SO GLAD YOU ASKED because i have some THOUGHTS
predictions for the us olympic team:
men: nathan, vincent, jason
easy peasy, barring absolute DISASTER. i don’t even know who the alternates would be because these 3 are It for us. yarisov?? maybe camden?? idk but this is indeed locked up
ladies: mariah, karen, alysa
bradie’s been dealing with a foot injury all season so i don’t even think she’s planning to petition for a spot. but if anyone can petition successfully for the first time since like 2006, it’ll be alysa. she’s been our international golden girl since she landed her first 3A, and i don’t think usfsa is gonna let her go. and mariah and karen have both worked so hard this olympic quad and FLOURISHED, so they’re in as well. alternates will probably be amber glenn and lindsey thorngren — as much as i would LOVE a Gracie Gold Olympic Comeback™️, she doesn’t have the international minimums to qualify for a spot 😓😓 i am fully prepared to cry watching her fs tho
pairs: cain-gribble/leduc, calalang/johnson
this might be Unpopular, but i don’t think knierem/frazier’s petition will be accepted. they’ve only been a team for 2 seasons, and while some teams are looking to compete at the games with even less time together (cough cough james/radford in canada cough cough), i don’t think they’ve proven enough consistency together to be a shoe in. yes alexa has already been to an olympics, but it’s different with a different partner. CGL have been solid for the past couple seasons, and CJ just keep rising. alternate will probably be lu/mitrofanov
dance: hubbel/donahue, chock/bates, hawayek/baker
i’d say this is pretty zipped up too, and again, it’s about consistency. HB has been the us #3 team for the whole quad, usfsa won’t drop them unless they need to. plus we do tend to favor experience, and green/parsons have at least another quad ahead of them, maybe 2. they’ll probably be alternates, along with carreira/ponomorenko if christina has her citizenship sorted out?? also side note: i am SO glad this is HD’s last season, can’t wait to never look at zach’s face ever again (sorry maddie)
WHATEVER HAPPENS, it’ll be Wild and i’m excited to embrace the chaos

2022 4 Continents entry #6
Pairs short program
Walsh/Michaud(CAN)
Thoughts: the purple makes Evelyn’s skin glow, in a good way
Dudek/Deschamps(CAN)
Thoughts: this music has a special place in my heart. And Deanna has really pretty eyes.
Lu/Mitrofanov(USA)
Thoughts: Misha’s shirt was too busy. But I love Audrey’s bare shoulder look
Pairs free program
Matte/Ferland(CAN)
Thoughts: Lori, I like this dress better than the SP one.

Kinda personal recap - Skate America 2020
Normally I would love to do some personal recaps on the grand prix series BUT without any real international competition and me not even caring or knowing much about 3/4 of the skaters I won't do that.
So just a couple of notes on Skate America 2020 short programs:
The cardboard cut-outs are funny but weird and the applause with no one there is a bit confusing, not sure I like that....
Won't comment much on the scoring as it's domestically judged like Nationals and I actually expected it to be much worse judging wise so....
Ladies
The one pleasantly surprising was Audrey Shin. She was really lovely to watch.
I was really sorry for Gracie Gold, report wise her training went actually not too bad...😥
I wasn't thrilled about any of the other skaters performances...
Amber Glenn is a beautiful skater but her performance today seemed a bit off. The program is beautiful though.
Not a fan of Bradie Tennell's skating but usually I like her programs but this one is just generic, but at least I remember it better than Mariah Bell's which is just boring...sorry Mariah...
In general I am not sold on everyone skating to some generic pop music, it's not that I don't like the musics in general, but there was no real connection between the music and the choreography, nothing to remember of choreographic movements and it is still a competition not a gala, the concept of a program was just non-existent, the only one who seemed to have a real concept for the program was Audrey Shin.
Men
Daniel 😭😭😭😭 (but considering he only is back on ice for 2 weeks, it's fine)
Alexei Bychenko is always fun to watch! Let's hope uncle Bychenko will compete a few more seasons! 🙏
Keegan Messing wasn't perfect, but still my favorite of the day. His spins are so damn fast and his interpretation is so good! 😍
Vincent Zhou - To my very own surprise I liked this program. The concept, the choreography and he also skated really good. I thought the 4S was UR, but well...
Nathan Chen is amazing, there is no doubt about his stability and confidence in his jumps. I just think he didn't deserve 12 points more than Vincent as his interpretation and choreography wasn't better in any way...the same PCS as for Vincent would have been deserved imo...BUT in general I think this program is offering a bit different side for Nathan, while I am not sold on that program at least I didn't not like it. I think the problem with Nathan' s scoring (which isn't Nathan's fault) is that he is judged like he can't skate any better while I think that he has a lot of areas especially in the PCS area where he can improve a lot. It's just sending the wrong message and that's sad...
Everyone else didn't really leave any kind of bad or good impression on me.
Pairs
What a good start on the big scene for newly formed pair Alexa Scimeca-Knierem and Bradon Frazier!
Also Audrey Lu and Misha Mitrofanov were superb!
Ice dance
The last 4 ice dance teams were all superb! Such a joy to watch!
My favorites were Kaitlyn Hawayek and Jean-Luc Baker! 🔥 What a fun program and they sell it so well! Also how Jean-Luc imitated to play with the non-existent audience was truly hilarious 😂
All in all I am just glad that the safety concept for the event seems to be very strict and everyone is actually wearing their masks properly! It's a relief to see an event can be hold safely. It's still a big question how any international events can take place...I am really not to optimistic for Worlds to happen
