#cats #outing myself once again as someone whos not attune whatsoever to human culture but - in all honesty I do not know #what 'psspsspss' means despite loving cats my entire life hghj.. I've just seen people online describe that as how you call a cat #but I have never in my life witnessed someone call a cat by making that noise or made that noise myself. I can't even think of an example o #it so I genuinely don't even know what that's supposed to be but. Included because I've seen it so much it must be something to someone #even when I was a kid I pretty much always just meowed to cats and tried to sound exactly like them or whatever meow I associated with them #obviously not literally saying “ME OW” but doing an actual cat meow. often times a kind of 'prrrow' sort of noise where you trill your tong #ue then lead into a softer vocal tone .. maybe like 'mrrrrauh' or something? Or sometimes just a trilling chirp immitating the #cat's ''mrrrrp'' they do sometimes. I used to mimic small kittens to get the attention of cats #with their like very high pitches squeky whine with a little bit of air out the nostrils at the end to imitate the sound of them having #tiny lungs that don't hold much air so with a long loud 'mew' it's sometimes a little strained near the end #Though usually I just imitate the cat that I'm around at the time. Sometimes I have done kind of a combination kissy lip sort of noise #tongue clicking. almost like tapping on the back of your front teeth with your tongue and sucking in. almost makes kind of a squirrel noise #ANYWAY... curiouse....

hunting perfect squirrels has to be the worst task ever created

#rdr2 #i leave camp. i look up at the sky. i shoot birds for 30 minutes to get ten (10) small game arrows. #i make a fire. i craft my ten (10) small game arrows. #i go into the woods. i crouch down and creep around for ten minutes praying to catch a glimpse of an incredibly tiny creature #which may or may not light up in eagle eye depending on whether god has forgotten me. #i find a three star squirrel. i shoot it. it does not die. i pursue it over 10 minutes and 3 arrows. #i pick it up. i have ruined the pelt with my poor aim. i am out of small game arrows. #the cycle begins anew #i am in hell #mush rambles

Told my dad there's bats in our neighborhood because I can hear their very cute echo location going in the opposite direction of us talking

Turns out he didn't know so Ima share this just in case, people talking but especially loud people like my dad throw off their ability to hunt bugs in the same way a house party at 2am on 4/20 keeps my ass awake but not energetic enough to make food - yeah I could go to the party and get food but it might not be the best with all the strangers getting high that I don't know. It's a risk to hunt near humans because we have a history of freaking out or hurting them when they do roll up out of self defense when really they want those bugs trying to eat your ass. And if you're calm and chill like me, sometimes they just be smacking into you if you're sitting outside and they think you're a tree or stump.

In short, don't wear headphones on at night if you're sitting outside for many safety reasons but also because if those high pitched squeaks are getting closer, you should probably get out of the way or move for your own safety before a or multiple bats hit/land onto you with a meaty slap & confused squeaking

And if you're hearing different pitches- is a cloud of bats, duck to the right or left and make noise (I usually do tiny pop noises to not scare them since it's usually babies and younger bats who fuck up and fly too low) so they know you're there and can move

#mun post #the bat that slammed into my head when i was 10 was fine and they didn't hurt me- if anything they had a “oh shit hi” reaction when i #apologized and moved out of their way so they could fly past #i accidentally walked right into their little flight path #9 outta 10 they're not intentionally trying to bite or scratch you but they do a tiny panic in the sa #-me way a startled cat or squirrel might to be defensive #my hair was long at the time so thankfully the bat didn't get tangled but also didn't accidentally scratch me #i be pop cat-ing at the local #bats #because they do teach their babies the route and don't want one landing on me tbh #and yes i can mimic their echolocation chirping & sometimes i do it when i see a moving cloud of bugs near our porch light
