I've been replaying Nobodies and in the middle of the second game I thought "Hey this guy talks like Desmond!" then I thought it would be pretty funny if Desmond became a murder cleaner lol

Nobodies: Murder Cleaner is available for Android, PC (via Steam) and Apple if you want to try it. It’s a point and click game where you play as a member of a secret government organization and your job is to clean up after other members have killed the target.

So we have two option for this idea.

Option 1: Canon ‘Verse where Desmond becomes a Cleaner instead of a Bartender

In this one, the only thing we have to tweak is what Desmond’s history becomes when he left the Farm. Maybe he saw one of the Cleaners doing their job in Rapid City and the Cleaner didn’t want to kill a kid to cover his tracks so he makes Desmond his accomplice, helping him clean it up, all the while teaching him the ‘craft’. After that, Desmond tags along because the Cleaner says that’s the only way he’ll survive and maybe Desmond’s upbringing mess him up enough that he thinks this is okay. That this kind of life is actually better than the life he had back on the Farm. The Cleaner keeps a close eye on him and notices how ‘unique’ Desmond’s upbringing is. He even thinks Desmond has what it takes to actually be one of the ‘messy ones’ but Desmond preferred to clean. It feels… more distant to his life before.

We get our timeskip and Desmond is one of the best cleaners out there. His identity is ironclad because his Cleaner mentor gave him a new one and their organization made it official since they do have a bit of leeway with the government. In exchange, Desmond will be in their service which he doesn’t mind because the organization pays for everything he needs (other than the equipment and items he might actually need when it was time to clean up because having such equipment with him when he gets to the scene would be security guard bait).

At this point, the organization has an idea that Abstergo is very sus and there’s a shadowy organization that does questionable things against Abstergo most of the time. They don’t know the full story though but Desmond believes that his parents’ cult is actually an ecoterrorist group. He keeps it to himself though since he doesn’t want to be anywhere close to them.

With the backing of the organization and his more honed skills and espionage, Desmond is actually more or less a ghost even to Abstergo. They know Desmond Miles exist but they also know that he disappeared nine years ago. Desmond’s government records are all fake data but authenticated by the government itself. Hell, he even has an SSN and tax records. (Your call if he keeps his Desmond Miles name or he changes to like Desmond Miller or full on fake name like Derek Milton or something XD)

If you still want Desmond to be part of the Animus Project or to kickstart the main plot, Desmond gets caught because the organization has traitors and one of them took him while he was cleaning a scene that turned out to be a trap. However, Desmond knows how to play the game and his childhood training only help him become better at his job.

If Vidic kept the same ‘security’ in AC1 (cameras only, no visible guards), Desmond would find a way to kill Vidic and (maybe) Lucy before the guards even get there. Once he gets access to the computer (thanks, Lucy), tampering with the security feed would be easy because he’s done it before as a Cleaner. He’s also used to using items and devices he sees on the ‘scene’ so yeah…

Before the even finishes Altaïr’s memories, he’d most probably already made his escape after cleaning the scene.

And that’s when…

The Bleeding Effect starts…

Option 2: Full Spy AU where every Assassin is messy and Desmond has to clean after them

Okay, this one plays loose with the lore.

In this one, the Brotherhood is a secret organization that has the capital and the influence that a usual Hollywood super spy organization has.

And Desmond is the poor son of a high ranking member of the organization. He was being trained to be an operative but he didn’t want to be an operative like his father.

So… he became a cleaner instead.

In this one, I think it would be fun if Desmond is just some poor cleaner who has to clean up for the messiest of the operatives because he’s one of the best cleaners.

So the setup could be Desmond appearing on the scene and deducing which of his messy ‘regulars’ did this one and he all have nicknames for each of them.

One of them is super good at his job that Desmond just have to take care of the body most of the time. That one he calls “the light of my life” because it means a quick easy job then Desmond can just chill somewhere and see the sights until he’s called again.

Another one is someone who always has to chase their target and dear god, Desmond wants to strangle this operative so badly because Desmond has to clean up multiple places and that includes CCTVs used by the local government for the roads and such. That one he calls ‘the bane of my existence’.

The funny thing?

Both operative are the same person: Altaïr who seesaw between absolutely the best or having a bad day that can only be summed up as “the universe is conspiring against him to get some cardio today”.

Of course, there’s a lot more operatives that Desmond cleans after.

There’s one that liked to actually steal shit and Desmond just usually make that a burglary gone wrong most of the time.

There’s another operative who may or may not have a dog that he uses to rip apart his target and Desmond always prays the scene is somewhere outside so he can just make it look like a wild animal attack and always hate it whenever it happens in an office building or anywhere indoors to be completely honest.

There’s another one that tries to be sneaky but that only makes Desmond’s life harder because he has to make sure to look everywhere just to be sure that the sneaky operative didn’t miss or fuck up somewhere.

In other words, Desmond has a lot of complaints for his regular operatives XD

Hello! So, this time I'm kinda looking for opinions on one theory I have about "fixing" something. So, if you have any other idea apart from my theory, everything is welcome.

I am basically having this problem where my game keeps crashing and I could always fix it. But this time I'm trying everything I can and there's no way. I mean, there's one way left but it's basically taking out some CC, sorting it out. But that's already not an option for me cause I had already done that before installing. The thing is, I had about the same amount of CC as you (30gb) sims3pack + packages. Recently, I installed some new CC (clothes and objects as simspack and 3-5 new mods from MTS) and now everything has gone up to 35gb. (28gb being on DCcache, sims3pack basically). So my game up until now has runned fine, with it's lags and crashes here and there but everything normal. Y'know, after a while of playing it crashes. Sure, that's okay. But now I'm trying to play in the save file I'm always playing. With it's Nraas register, overwatch, master controller settings, and other mods to make it run better. The only thing is that I'm not able to play for maybe more than 5 minutes on my main household. I also have other households on the same savefile. That's because I like to play rotationally and have my own sims as townies so my savefiles get big and heavy just because of that and not generations. And so here comes the problem. The crashing always ocurs in less than five minutes in any household living in a house the same size or bigger than a medium sized lot. I'm aware that even though this didn't happend before at all and I could perfectly play on them for hours, I have installed new CC on my game.

This is where my theory comes in, and where I could really use some opinions couse I'm really lost. I admit that what's causing this is well... Me, pushing my game to load more content. But bear with me, I had been wanting to buy a better graphics card for my PC. Mainly for sims 3, but I'm scared it's gonna do nothing. I have a laptop which, I have brought up before in this Tumblr, and in this laptop it doesn't matter how many cc and mods the game has,(maybe nothing at all) it's always gonna crash eventually. With vanilla sims, it crashes after 3 hours of playing. BUT, the game runs super smooth and waaay better than in the PC even with 35gb of CC. This is because it's basically a MSI gamer latptop from last year. i7, with 32gb of ram and a very good graphics card which I don't remember right now. But it's basically 75 times better than the PC's Nvidia GeForce 1050 ti In a 0-100% scale. (PC is an i3 and has 16gb RAM, which is a really good but,✨ sims 3✨ xd) I'm not gonna buy one like the laptop cause is really expensive but I was thinking about something in between if my game could run as close as good as in the laptop. The thing is I'm really confused because I'm really scared that even if I buy a new one, the PC could still crash at this problem I have just like the laptop crashes in seconds, that's why I brought it up. I don't want a smooth game if it's still gonna crash :')

I know my PC well, it doesn't crash inadvertently like the laptop, if I play vanilla sims no way it's crashing in 3hours. With CC it's very possible, but not vanilla. I have checked how much memory utilisizes and it's 7-8 gb of memory. out of 16, that's good, it's not bad. But again, it crashes at this houses outta nowhere. I now a solution is to avoid playing in these, but there's no way now I gotta make smaller ones when I have been playing in these for so many years. So there ya go. I could really use some advice as to what should I do about the graphics card thing, if it's better for me to get a CPU or what. Not both, that's a lot of money,I know both are important for gaming, but I can't afford it. Sorting out my CC it's not an option I already do that all the time, I clean my save to 36-40 mb with save cleaner and I convert everything I can to sims3pack because Packages make my game impossible to play. But I'm definitely not getting rid of my downloads folder 😅

Okay so, my advice: 1. Your save file is probably massive by now and its just too much for the game, I would check if its a memory issue (aka watch your memory as you play as sims can only go up to 3.6GB). I would also check other saves as if they work this is likely it 2. Definitely stop installing things as sims3pack, those things are awful. Just for shits and giggles remove your DCCache folder and see if it works then. 3. I am guessing you used save cleaner, s3mo/cc magic and all that jazz 4. No GPU or CPU is going to save you here sadly. I7 is a good CPU already. And laptop is never going to be as good as PC (my opinion) as it can never pull as much power as a PC. 5. Really all you can do is play a smaller world, less sims, kill off townies, and less decorated houses. Wish I could help but sims just is a 32bit program and nothing we do is going to fix that sadly!

Ok, so since upgrading to Windows 11 my game gives me error 16 with every single save I attempt. This is a real problem. I’ve rarely encountered error 16 prior to upgrading to Windows 11.

Now, I love the way windows 11 looks so downgrading is nog really an option..

The Solution!

I have tried so many things! From the save cleaner to RamMap and al these different things with the CurrentGame folder and Save game folder etc. Nothing worked! One thing that did work though.. which I discovered non-intentionally. When I put my pc in Hibernate mode (I often do this when I leave the pc for a while and want to get straight back to where I was when firing it up again) and I fired my pc up again later it let me save my game every time I wanted to..

So I tested that today again when I got the error and it worked! It is super annoying to have to “shut down” your pc completely just to be able to save your game but it is the solution for me for now.

Final Fantasy V Pixel Remaster (PC/Steam Deck)

While it initially didn't leave Japan, Final Fantasy V got significantly better treatment than FFIII did in port work, so there's more on offer when choosing a 'definitive edition' of it. But, Square being a little cowardly, their 3D remake work stopped at IV in the mid/late 2000s and V didn't get a saucy PSP port like IV did, only a blighted original mobile port like the rest of the series got.

With less competition and the Pixel Remaster of V being a similar amalgamation of other versions, with the GBA version primarily as its base, I think the Pixel Remasters get to claim another definitive version here. Yes, the GBA's bonus dungeon and extra four jobs aren't here, but outside of Gladiator I never overly liked any of them (I really like Necromancer conceptually and its sprites are great, but it's so fussy to use); outside of that, the PR's aesthetics generally exceed the GBA and the new remix/new arrangement OST is superb (and on console, you can swap between the original and it, too; sadly, not ported into the PC release, despite Square saying they would a while ago).

I don't think the extra jobs are worth playing GBA over the Pixel Remaster release, but the GBA version is the runner-up; FFV had a much cleaner time on SNES than IV but you're dependent on fan translations to play that version, and at times egregious references aside, the GBA script for V is good enough. V is a much more light-hearted and more comedic game than the other two SNES FFs, so even that works, though the PR tones some of it down to my memory.

FFV is a pretty great RPG; it's a surprise return to III's job system and in many ways feels almost like a direct sequel of III specifically, in ideas and concepts throughout. Its job system is more robust and actually allows cross-class skill and ability usage, and provides many, many avenues to make really fucked up, stupidly powerful characters and teams. It would be the basis for the job systems of the later Tactics spinoffs in particular, and a lot of the same joy I get from making monsters there is very much here, though it's more constrained in some ways.

Oh yeah, there's a little oddity with this one for Steam Deck; despite the previous four having in-game keyboards for name entry (and all the originals having that, naturally), V doesn't, it makes you use the system keyboard instead and VI seems to be the same way, It suggests V and VI were done differently in some way, which is weird, but outside of that it works as flawlessly as the last four on Steam Deck.

More waffle below, but in short, well worth playing. V often gets stepped over or forgotten, or isn't considered as highly (and there's some fair reasons for that) as IV and VI, but it's a special one.

I found that I didn't remember a lot of V's actual events, and I think that's partly because of the job system's implementation. Unlike III, which forced usage of specific jobs for specific sections, V does not design sections to force your usage of specific classes at specific times. The closest it gets is the Fork Tower sequence, where you have to divide your party to ascend two towers in tandem and each side fights a boss; the Black Tower is pretty biased against physical attacker classes and its boss is split open by Reflect, but the White Tower only has one actual hard-counter enemy to mage classes.

This has a bit of a "numbing"/"nulling" effect to V, I think; a lot of it can simply be crushed under heel, even quite a lot of its significant roster of bosses can be drilled into the earth pretty simply. In seeking to design for freedom and, nobly, designing to allow often broken teams to excel, a lot of V's encounters fade into the background of Dualcast + Mime, or Flare/Holy Spellblade on a Dual-Wield Freelancer toting Excalibur(/Ragnarok) + Brave Blade, or etc etc.

And it's not for lack of character. V's cast get a fair amount of time for character, even if they're individually limited in traits, and they have very expressive and often deliberately silly overworld sprites and animations that make for a lot of funny and endearing little scenes, which makes the rather frequent tragedies hit above their weight. Galuf in particular is a shining star in that regard. And this is the game where Gilgamesh makes his glorious debut, too, V is packed with character. It's just more "concentrated", I suppose, and the ability to just shit all over encounters and bosses by engaging more deeply with the job system makes it harder for them to be as memorable as IV's or VI's bosses. I think the devs realised that for VI, which is why VI has a lot of extremely distinctive setpiece bosses (and this basically holds for the Playstation ones as well).

Also, it must be said; V is a visual splendour. Unlike I and III where everyone of a job looks the same, each character has their own sprites and looks for each job to both vary them up and express character, and it's fucking great. Just look over the sprite sheets for the player characters and their jobs sometime, they're a total delight and it's lovely to see all the different styles they have. This is where the FFIII 3D remake gets a lot of its tweaks to III's job system from, but I think V still manages it better by virtue of its cast being more varied (old man Galuf and his beard poking out, tiny little Krile visibly being too short for some outfits, the contrast in Lenna and Faris' outfits, etc).

With IV having firmly established the aesthetic identity and "feel" of a Final Fantasy, V builds on it by adding many more series staples and more firmly entrenching a lot of standard ideas. Gilgamesh, recurring character (it's the same guy from V every time!), debuts here as mentioned, but this is also where Blue Mage makes its beautiful debut and the entire Blue Magic system (learning weird and sometimes immensely powerful spells from enemies) and a lot of recurring Blue Magic spells comes about. This is also where the series gains a noticeable shift in art design for quite a few of its enemies, as it's the series' artistic debut for Tetsuya Nomura, who goes on to be graphic designer for VI and then co-scenario writer and character designer and a core member of the art staff for VII.

Also, it needs to be said; debates about "best Final Fantasy villain" usually centre around a regular few candidates, but key among them is Kefka, villain of VI, who often gets touted as the best for his success. But, thing is (and I'll probably waffle about this more next time as well), it depends on your definition of "success"; if nothing else, Kefka himself admits he never achieved his desired goals despite what he does.

In that sense, Exdeath, the villain of V, is distinctly more successful than Kefka, coming right up to the precipice of success. He's an extremely active villain, too, man is out there on the ground blasting people and casting whole societies into the Void. He practically orchestrates his plan as a war campaign, and a rather capably commanded one at that. Unfortunately for him he also has to deal with some of the most insanely powerful Warriors of Light around.

With its focus on crystals, a villain attempting to drown the world in primordial darkness, the job system and more, V really does feel like a fresh shot at III's concepts. It's kind of fascinating in that respect, and makes me wonder what could've been if they had decided to stick with the job system in the main series. Hell, with Tactics being on ice for a while now, they really need to get back around to this style of job system.
