Hazelshade's Deepdive-ish

Hazelshade was one of the founders of NectarClan, who fled her home clan of AspenClan due to the wars.

Hazelshade was born within the rocky plains of AspenClan, to her mother Mintpool and her father Bristlegorse. She was the final attempt for the older cats to continue their lineage of grand warriors.

Bristlegorse and Mintpetal were well known within AspenClan for being formidable warriors and fighters for their clan. Bristlegorse himself being the deputy of AspenClan. When the two were blessed with Hazelkit, they were thrilled their lineage would live on through her and they were certain that she too would be a grand warrior just as they were. Already there was so much weight and expectation on Hazelkit's shoulders.

Hazelkit was barely able to leave the nursery when Bristlegorse wanted to get her started on her training. Little things here and there. How to do the hunter's crouch, Leaping and pouncing. He was determined that she would follow in his footsteps.

When it was her time to become an apprentice, it was to Bristlegorse and Mintpetal's dismay that Hazelpaw was assigned to none other than Leaptail. A cat that the two parents believed would serve no good to Hazelpaw. If anything he'd be a bad influence on her, that was if he would be planning to actually stick around to train her. Hazelpaw herself saw her parents' dismay and too mimicked it, if her parents weren't happy with Sagestar's choice then perhaps she shouldn't be either. Although she wasn't going to sit around and mope about it. No. This just meant she had to train all that more harder.

Despite it all, Hazelpaw would pursue in her training and would eventually earn her warrior name, Hazelshade. While Leaptail wasn't the best mentor, he certainly stepped up to the challenge of getting her battle ready as soon as possible. Although Hazel's parent's opinion of the tom, certainly caused a wedge between the relationship the mentor and apprentice could of had. From what she had seen from many mentor and apprentice pairings, the apprentices often saw their mentors as another figure they could find solace within, trust, wisdom and even friendship. But Hazelshade put her barriers up so Leaptail couldn't even attempt to get close.

During the fateful battle were Leaptail's brother, Fleetfoot lost his life, Hazelshade noticed how Leaptail grieved for his brother. She also noticed the lack of emotion that flowed through the clan and herself. Much of the clan kept their emotions to themselves, Hazelshade included. But she couldn't help but feel for Leaptail.

Hazelshade was a little surprised when Leaptail approached her with his outlandish plan to leave the clan and make a new clan. Frankly if she wasn't so curious about what was beyond the borders and the fruitless fighting, she would of laughed at him. But when he left saying she was welcome to come with, she couldn't help but feel the pull to leave on this new adventure. After all, if it was as ridiculous as it sounded, she could always come back,,,right?

That night she lay in her nest thinking about what it would be like beyond the territories. She couldn't get the thoughts of the adventure out of her head. All the while she also couldn't stop thinking about, what were these battles all about? Nothing ever seemed to come out from them. All besides bloodshed and loss. What WERE they fighting for? Territory? Honour? Pride? Was it something she could even stand for?

She mulled on it for days. It was only within the last few moments when she truly decided that she would leave everything she knew for the greater world. It was there where she decided that if she didn't know what she was fighting for...she wasn't going to fight!

Once the ragtag group of cats had settled she was once again surprised when Leaptail, now Leapstar approached her asking her to be his deputy. She was about to argue that she hadn't got the experience or anything, before she was cut off by the leader as he explained his reasoning for choosing her. Unsure, yet she still hesitantly accepted.

Throughout the moons, she kept trying to decide if leaving was the right thing to do. She often wondered if it was worth heading back. But as each day passed the harder it was to reason with herself to go back. She found herself coming to enjoy this new life. The new friends she was making and all the while she had actually made her father's dream a reality, she did in a way follow in his footsteps and here she was deputy of her clan, her home.

The moons continued to pass and as NectarClan continued to feel like home. She found comfort and solace within Dreamfreckle. A cat who had also joined from the previous territories. The more time she spent with the dark furred molly, the more she found she couldn't live in a world where they would be separated. Dreamfreckle was the only cat that she could truly trust and rely on. The only one would saw her true emotions. If she had stayed in AspenClan she would of never felt this overwhelming comfort and happiness. No, if anything, Dreamfreckle would of been her enemy.

With that final thought put to rest. It was clear that yes, NectarClan was Hazelshade's home and it always would be.

been playing clangen almost constantly, so i made solid designs for some of my favorite cats from NectarClan

So, I'm not sure if I'm going to go with the normal clan naming like Runeclan or if I'm going to go with a tribe type thing. Maybe they could be a kingdom type thing. I might change some stuff about them. Like where they live but here's some name ideas I thought of.

Magicclan (I don't know. Thought it would be fitting)

also if you wanna lean on the fae side more, replacing Kingdom/Clan/Tribe with Court could also work! Since Courts are associated with the fae!

Wake up the elder

You came towards Mildewchase, and tried to gently nudge them, so they would wake up and not get startled. Tried.

The moment you touched him, his olive-green eyes widened, head shot up and fur bristled. Definitely not the best awakening. Mildew sighed in relief, once she saw only you and your brother, and gave few licks to get more tidied look.

“Oh kits.. don’t scare me like that.” he smiled.

You began patching up hole in the elder den’s wall, while Mantis was begging to elder to tell a story. Finally, he decided to take some time storytelling, with you both feeling quite happy for the opportunity to make monotonous work a bit better.

“You see.. long ago, we weren’t Reaper’s Colony. And clans bordering us weren’t FossilClan and AmberClan.”

“We were known as Algae’s Colony, who lived and always bordered with NectarClan and BloomingClan. We weren’t even living here. We lived in large fields, filled with wildflowers and sunlit glades. Still remember how nice it was to run around in tall, soft grass blades.”

It felt like your paws started working slower while tying brambles into the wall. You tried to imagine it how it was. In this spruce forest you lived your entire life, there were just pinecones, thorns and spikes on either sandy ground or a bit damp, sharp grass, instead of this sweet scent around you what you could’ve felt on the clear field. Patches of sun were mainly only visible at safe clearing, and it was hard to imagine living in a place without shade and obstacles, the place where you can just run free without having anything in your way, not even bushes.

“Life in there was a bliss. Most of the cats passed away due to old age, and there was barely any diseases so bad, that cats couldn’t cure them.”

“It was all because our great-great-great-and probably greatest ancestors began looking at two-legs, and seeing what they did. Then, they began replicating what they did, which lead us to such technological advantage among other cats.”

“But then, two-legs began building tall metal dens, out of what we just saw completed products doing out of them, so that’s why we couldn’t improve further. We just weren’t able to see how they were doing it.”

“We lived happily, but then.. two-legs got too greedy. They began taking colony’s and clans’ territories to build their rye fields. At first, we didn’t saw it as something bad — craftscats were able to get free access to rye stalks, and it became quite popular among cats to wear them as accessories. But then, their fields always were getting bigger and bigger with each day, and cats began getting lost in these fields during hunting.”

“And with two-legs came dogs. They began chasing cats away, and as they began getting closer to our camps, we had to decide something before dogs will start chasing us out from our own dens. Reaptuft was the first one to offer going into the spruce forest.”

“Of course, everyone was hesitant to do it. No cat ever returned from that place. As danger kept creeping closer and closer, we one sunhigh began going there, but only after our herbalist, leader, deputy, hunters and few craftscats were lost to the dogs.”

“And now, our StarClan connection has been weak for many, many moons. We lost place where to see them, and none of us ever managed to get out of this place. Now, leaders don’t get nine lives, and lore keepers barely get any visions.”

Mildew stopped for a moment, and then began searching for something in the corner of the den, where all elder’s stuff was stored. He took out a map, with a layout of the territory. You and Mantis came up to him to get a better look, and with you both finishing up work anyway.

“Our territory with other clans’ are separated by a large creek, which wraps around the territories. And outside this creek- we never went there, since it’s just swamp with a thick layer of fog.”

Suddenly, you felt few more scents in the den, and few cats followed by them. Other elders came from the camp to sleep, along with deputy getting them into the den.

“Good day, Mildew. How was your sleep?” - Ravenface asked, the moment she all elders got in their nests.

“I won’t be volunteering to join midnight patrol.”

“I came here not for that!” Ravenface giggled. “I came here to take Mantis and Hellebore back to the nursery. It’s getting quite late.”

Of course. All cats had some kind of set bedtime, so the next day they will have enough energy. It felt like a usual, normal day. Ravenface would always escort you back to the nursery once sun began to set. But today was different. Halfway through the clearing, deputy stopped, and got her head down, so both of you would hear what she whispered.

“Remember, in here.. it’s impossible to do anything without being watched. There always will be a witness. It won’t be StarClan, it won’t be anyone from other groups. You’ll never know if your denmates or friends don’t have a second pair of eyes and ears.”

You looked over to Mantis. Neither of you really understood why she said it, and why now.

Moon 14, after all the devastation from last moon the clan tries to continue on as normal. But it's tough for them. Got some kits being goofy, Big sisters looking out for their little sisters! And Hazelshade and Leapstar bumping heads not only figuratively but now literally!

Finally getting some time to get around to working on my Clangen, I figured this would be a good project for me to do, since I do struggle to connect with my Clangen clans, and doing something like this would be a good little project to do. I can't assure how often I can/will update, but I am certainly going to do my very best. Especially after seeing so many other Clangen Clans on here, @cricketclan and @fallenclan being a couple of the many inspirations I had! I want to thank Everyone who came before me for the inspiration to do this! <3 ---------- NectarClan was initially formed as a small number of cats from three enemy clans, would choose to flee their home after yet another large war broke out between the three. The war ravaged the valley the three clans called their home, it took the lives of many. Parentless kits wailed for their mothers to return. Friends and families grieved over the bodies of their loved ones. Many called out for the war to stop. But their calls fell on deaf ears. It was only when those who were able to work up the courage to leave their clans to create their own clan, to find some semblance of peace. They were lead by Leappelt, the one who managed to spread word and find a place for the cats to gather before their journey. Leappelt would wait for the rest till Sunfall. He was soon joined by Hazelshade, Charredfreckle, Jumpjoy, Lizardnudge, Downwhisker and Rootfur (Along side the two kits she had adopted through the war, Dreamkit and Lakekit). Once all gathered they would make their journey, somewhere where they could be free from the cries of the fallen. Somewhere where the generations could thrive without the constant wars they had previously had to grow within. Somewhere that was theirs. They came across a flourishing forest and settled their camp there. The flowers that surrounded the clans being fed upon by the butterflies who would seek out the sweet Nectar. And thus the clan was aptly named NectarClan. And with Leapstar leading them, their story begins.

Moon 21: We had a special visit from an old friend, Childs ranked up and a momma had to fight for her life! Also the Truth come out about Lakefur!!!
