Dim the lights (Gavi x Reader)
28 day writing prompt challenge - prompts are here
Day 5: Holding Hands
"If you play Titi me pregunto again, I will crash this car."
Your laugh rang loudly through the car. Pedri smiled cheekily, leaning one arm against the window, the other gripping the steering wheel. The windows of the mini Cooper were rolled down, letting in the warm air of the summer night in Barcelona. Bad Bunny was streaming through the speakers, creating an excited vibe in the small vehicle.
"But it's his best song! Come on, even Ale agrees, and he doesn't even like Bad Bunny."
Alejandro looked up from his phone in the back seat. He has been scrolling through Instagram to quell his anger at being made to sit in the back seat. "Please stop telling people I don't like Bad Bunny. It's really hurting my social reputation."
Pedri swerved into the parking space outside the cinema. The stars had finally aligned for you to hang out with Pedri for the first time in months. He opened your car door, helping you step out, and then falling in step beside you into the cinema. You had met Pedri several years ago at a COVID testing site you were working at to make some extra money. He had to wait for about 4 hours to get his results. In that time period, you sparked up a conversation. He leaned against the chair in the clinic, legs spread comfortably, easily passing 4 hours while chatting with you. You exchanged phone numbers at the end.
"Is it okay if I save you in my phone as Pedri?"' "No offense, but no one would believe that you have my phone number."
Since then, you and Pedri had gotten closer as friends. He was sarcastic and dryly funny, a sense of humor that you could easily relate to. You tried to hang out at least once a month, but it was difficult with your school schedule and with him being an international football superstar. Most times, you went over to his place, hanging out with him and his teammates. It was at one of these hangout that you had first met Pablo.
You had pulled up to the house, a case of beer in one hand, and pounding on the door in the other. "Pepi, open the door! This beer is heavy and I'm a delicate and frail woma-"
The door swung open, and it wasn't Pedri. Pablo Gavi stood there, leaning against the frame of the door. His brows were scrunched together (as usual), and he looked you up and down, yelling over his shoulder, "Pedri, who is the woman banging down your door?" Pedri came over quickly, spying you over Pablo's shoulder. "Hermano, at least help her with the beer. This is y/n, she's one of my friends."
Surprising as it was to hear that Pedri had friends outside of the club, Gavi stepped aside, allowing Pedri to grab the case from your arms. You followed the boys inside as Gavi fell back dramatically onto the couch, and you took the spot beside him. He flinched, looking at you with bewilderment. "Are you afraid of women, Pablo?" "How do you know my name?" "Did you forget that you're famous?"
Pablo cracked a smile. He liked that you were able to fire back at him quickly, keeping up with his fiery and fast-paced nature. He exchanged numbers with you that day, getting your Playstation info to challenge you in Fifa 22, ego still bruised from how bad you had beaten him last time. He was like a schoolboy with a crush: always finding odd moments to text you. He referenced inside jokes the two of you had on his Instagram. He was, as the kids would say, whipped. But he had yet to build up the courage to ask you to hang out - just the two of you.
You walked into the cinema, laughing with Pedri and Alejandro, and Gavi's eyes lit up. ""y/n!" He called out, walking up to you with his hands in his pocket. He hoped the move made him look cool, even though it was to hide the slight tremble that he developed when he was around you. "Hello to you too Hermano!" Alejandro yelled at Pablo, who had forgotten to meet his two teammates that you had walked in with. "Where is Ferran?" "Right here Pepi, rest easy, no need to miss me." Ferran held 5 tickets above his head, reaching into the popcorn bucket in Pablo's hand. "Y'all ready to scream?"
The group had gathered to watch "Bones and All". Movies were an easy pastime, as no one would recognize the guys in the dark of the theater. You had been salivating over Timothee Chalamet the entire car ride over. As you shuffled into the theater, you found yourself at the middle of the group, sitting in the row next to Pedri and Ale.
"Hermano, switch with y/n." Gavi said. He was sitting beside Pedri at the end of the row.
You looked up at Gavi, confusion on your face. "Why?"
"Because Pedri eats popcorn and you don't. I don't want to hear you complaining the whole time that you're acting as a courier."
"Fine. But I will be salivating over how fine Timothee is for all 2.5 hours of this movie. So I don't want to hear a word from you Pablito."
He let out a breathy laugh like this watching as you sat beside him. He took this moment to stare at your side profile. He loved the way your eyes lit up when you laughed, crinkling at the edges. He traced the curve of your lips with his gaze, watching intently as your tongue poked out to wet them. A few minutes later the lights in the theater dimmed.
You brought one leg up, making yourself more comfortable, and causing you to lean slightly into Pablo.
"You're gonna thirst over him already? He's not even on screen. You're such a simp." He whispered to you. You looked over at him, meeting his eyes even in the dark. "Don't be jealous Gavi. Someone will thirst after you eventually."
The movie began, and you sat back to watch intently. You brought your hand to rest at your side, brushing against Pablo's in the process. He flinched away from the touch like he had been electrocuted. You met his eyes in the dark, trying to silently apologize, when you felt him grab your hand. You continued to look at him, now confused, as he laced your fingers together.
"Your hands are cold." He whispered in your ear, causing a shiver to run down your spine. This interaction had caught Pedri's attention, who sat beside you, and he glanced at the two of you with a look of "Please shut up and stop being weird". You tried your best to ignore how hot your cheeks felt, sitting back against the chair. You were no longer paying attention to the movie on the screen, but rather to the warmth of Pablo's hand against yours. He started to caress the back of your hand with his thumb, and you thought you would explode.
Did you think Pablo was attractive? Absolutely. You had eyes. Had you felt a spark between the two of you in the time you had gotten to know each other? Also yes. Did you ever expect Pablo to make a move so bold when he was sitting around all his friends, given he had never hung out with you alone? Not in a million years. When the movie ended, Gavi quickly separated his hand from yours as to not be caught once the lights came back on. Your face was hot, and it was obvious you were anxious. Pedri asked if you were feeling okay, a small smirk playing on his lips, as if he could read your mind.
"Yeah I'm fine, just ready to go home."
Pedri, Ale and Ferran glanced at each other, as they had all planned to go out for drinks. You told the to go, and Pedri tossed you his car keys, reminding you that you didn't make enough to get him a new one if it crashed. You let out a forced laugh, trying to play it cool.
"I'll go with her, make sure she drives safe."
"You might encourage her to drive off the road, Pablo."
The group laughed, and once you said your goodbyes, you and Pablo walked over to Pedri's car at the back of the dark lot. You went to the driver's seat, but before you could unlock it, you felt two arms around you, caging you to the door of the car. You turned to face Pablo, and he pressed his forehead against yours - lips an inch away from meeting.
"Wow Pablo. First you go seven or eight months without daring to see me alone, and then you hold my hand and get in a car with me on the same night? Have you been drinking?"
His breath fanned across your face as he laughed. His gaze shifted between your eyes and your lips, and his chest heaved slightly with the weight of his breathing. You could tell he was on edge - nervous about ruining this charged friendship you two had developed.
"I've been wanting to do that for a while, but you've never given me the chance."
"You never asked." Your heart was hammering in your chest, your back against the door of the car. He took another step towards you, cupping your face in his hands.
"Alright, then let me ask now: can I kiss you?"
You bit your lip and looked up at him, feeling more shy than you ever have in your life. You tried to lean up and capture his lips with yours, but he pulled his face away.
"I asked, bonita. Now I need an answer."
"Yes."
Despite you answering at just above a whisper, Pablo heard the response loud and clear, practically ringing in his ears. He brought your face to his, closing the gap and kissing you passionately. You grabbed the front of his shirt in fist fulls, trying to bring him even closer, kissing him with a hunger you didn't know you had. You kept him close, barely breathing, and biting at his bottom lip, making him moan out slightly. Once you both pulled back for air, he rested his forehead against yours again, he looked you deep in the eye, pushing your hair behind your ear.
"Pablo... we should probably not do this in public where people can take photos."
"You're right... Pedri's house is going to be free for the next couple hours, and you have his keys."
Your friendship with Pablo had been broken forever, but it had now ben replaced with something different, something better: a place for your romantic feelings to grow. You had also broken some laws and driven way over some speed limits on the way back to Pedri's, but you could worry about that when you weren't making out with one of the hottest Spanish men alive, who kissed you like you were the air that filled his lungs.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~A/N: Hey y'all - thanks for tuning into day 5! Tried to make it a little longer. I just wanted to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has read and enjoyed my writing. On Wednesday I posted a Gavi oneshot inspired by the headache I was feeling that day. Beakers, Blue Matter, And Boys In Love
There’s chemistry brewing in the Walter manor when Peter VI hires a new bioengineer to help with blue matter research. Wacky romantic adventures ensue.
Chapter 1: Welcome To Walter Manor
Tumblr media
The steering wheel felt smooth under your sweaty hands as you nervously drove to your new job. After years of research on organic organisms in laboratories, you were moving on to a bigger and more anxiety inducing subject matter. Your previous job at a research lab fell through when investors pulled their funding, deeming that “results weren’t coming along fast enough”. So here you were, parking your car outside the famed Walter Manor to start your job as the on site biotech researcher for blue matter. You click your keys out of the ignition then stand up and smooth your lab coat as a sigh escapes your mouth. You’ve never worked with technology in the same way as you’re about to, and you can’t lie to yourself when your nerves sneak up your stomach lining. You hear the beep of your car locking as your shoes make soft clicks towards the grand doors at the front of the manor. The dark wood is so entrancing and luxurious in its age and majesty. The wood feels aged as you knock on the doors and a large sound echoes out into the house. You hear some distance voices and the turning of cogs followed by metallic crashes. What could possibly be going on in there? The flip of a switch reaches your ears as a machine roars to life. You look above your head and see a complex mechanism opening the grand doors. Your eyes quickly align in front of you to see a pale girl in front of you. Her glossy dark blue hair strikes you as gorgeously distinct in contrast with her clean white lab coat style dress.
*Camille show you around the facilities and welcomes you yada yada*
You arrive at the lab where your research will take place. Placing your bag down on a desk in the pristine office portion of the work space. The Walter girl proceeded to explain which entrance you will use each day and hand you an ID card.
“This card is how you click in and out, so don’t loose it, ‘Kay?” Camille says while bouncing over to put a lanyard attached to your ID around your neck. She is so sweet and the corners of you mouth tug upwards into an inevitable smile. You just know you’re going to be good friends as you work here.
“Thank you Camille, I appreciate all the help around the manor. This place is huge, I have no idea how I’ll manage to navigate it,” a small laugh follows your statement.
“Oh I totally understand! It’s a big place, but I have a little map for you!” She take out a small paper map of the Walter manor with a highlighted path on traced on it in pink.
“So the pink path is how you get to your lab, and I’ve circled the bathrooms and break room for you!” Camille points at the different places on the map as she describes them.
“Thank you so much, this is gonna help a lot!” You smile back at her.
“Perfect! Now I have to go do some repairs, so I’ll leave you to get settled in! And if you need any help from there I’m sure you’ll find someone around to help!” Camille rushed out the door leaving you to your silent devices.
What does she mean I’ll find someone around? I didn’t see or hear another soul except for Camille the entire tour. While unpacking the contents of your bag and contemplating the ominous statement you hear the faint sound of gears turning and metal dropping against the hard floor.
Dear god what is that sound, you just want to start your new job, why is scary shit happening. The sound of puffing steam reached your ears and only made you more confused. You scrambled behind a nearby desk to look professional in case it was your boss; also to put some distance between yourself and whatever was coming your way. After a few seconds, you see a puff of steam in your door way, and then a- wait what.
Why is there a cute guy in your lab? Guy is probably not the correct descriptor, seeing as the man had gold plated skin, screws, cogs, and steam vents. His long light brown curly hair shone under the harsh lights of your new lab. His metallic fingers grabbed at his suspenders, “you must be the new scientist in the manor! The name’s The Jon!” One of his hands leaves his suspenders to wave at you, snapping the band into his torso. There is little reaction on The Jon’s behalf, the largest smile you’ve ever seen plastered on the robot’s face. All you can do is stare with your jaw on the floor. When you heard you were working with blue matter and robots, you were not expecting to meet such sentient human-like robots.
The tension leaves your hands that you did not even realize you had clenched, walking over to your visitor.
“Well ‘The Jon’, it’s lovely to meet you! I’m the new researcher Mr. Walter hired,” you hold out a hand for the gold automaton, which is quickly taken into his smooth cold hands excitedly. His curly brown hair bounced with every shake of the hand, glinting despite being under the harsh leds of the lab. A smile tugs at your lips, seeing someone so outgoing is refreshing in a career filled with older straight edged coworkers.
After shaking hands, you took in more of his appearance and behavior. He had this energetic spring in his every movement despite the springs and coils that limited his range of motion. The job began to speak once more in his melodious voice, “Oh yeah!! I remember Petes’ talkin about that over the tower of tacos on Tuesday,” the mention of a taco tower and the incredibly casual usage of your new boss’ name confused you deeply, but you continued to listen as small hisses of steam interjected The Jon’s words, “I was also lookin for Camille cause Rabbit’s voice modulator is wacking out again, she sounds like a helium balloon!”
The Jon illustrates his statement by making an orb shape with his hands and raising them up like a balloon.
You walk to the door and point to the right, “well she was here a minute ago, she headed in that direction if you wish to catch her.”
He nods at you before running off, waving at you behind him and yelling out a ‘thank you’.
What a strange individual, you thought while shrugging your shoulders.
Little did you know, that was only the beginning of the peculiar things that would happen to you in the Walter Manor.
Tumblr media
Thank you all so much for reading! This is my first time writing a fanfic in over 6 years so bear with me. Posts will be inconsistent but I’ll do my best, thanks again! 🩵
2,600-Year-Old Prehistoric Necropolis in France Reveals Treasures
A prehistoric necropolis used between 900 and 600 BC in Aubagne in southeastern France has revealed a first millennium BC individual, bedecked in copper jewelry, after two rounds of excavations in 2022. The transitional late Bronze and early Iron Age necropolis, 3.21 acres (1.3 hectares) wide, had been excavated the first time in 2021, yielding a treasure trove of information that has significantly increased our knowledge of protohistoric southern French funerary customs.
When first uncovered in 2021, ten burials were discovered and three cremation depots have been searched under a massive tumulus, according to a press release by INRAP (French National Institute for Preventive Archaeological Research). Measuring 108 feet (33 meters) in diameter, a tumulus is a mound of earth and stones raised over a grave or multiple graves. This particular tumulus was surrounded by a deep ditch and was probably originally marked by a ring of stones. The burial within was unlikely to be furnished.
Non-Tumulus Burials and Demarcation
The two other non-tumulus burials found this year included the skeletal remains of an individual with a twisted copper alloy bracelet, with a pearl and stone jewel on the left shoulder. This person had two ceramic pots buried near their head, which was typical of the burials of this time period.
The second non-tumulus burial has been the richest treasure trove so far in the necropolis; they were buried with a tubular torc with rolled terminals around the neck. Three bangles on each ankle and three toe rings were found, as well as a brooch and a large ceramic urn. Urns are also another burial emblem from this time period.
According to a report from Arkeo News , the first burial and tumulus are in close proximity to one another. The third was distant from the other two. Each space was clearly demarked and delimited with intention, but that demarcation no longer exists. The only remnants are a line of postholes, which suggest the existence of a linear structure once upon a time. There is space reserved for the burial of the dead, also observed in the second burial, which is marked by an alignment of stone blocks not more than six feet (two meters) long.
Occupation of the Middle Neolithic Site
Ceramic furniture found at the site, and other aspects of material culture, date the first phase of this habitation to mid-Neolithic (4600-4300 AD). The anchoring of posts at these sites suggests the presence of dwellings with other domestic and conservation structures like silos. One of the smallest buildings covers an area of 645 square feet (60m 2), while the larger one is generally rectangular covering around 1,000 square feet (100m 2), which is rectangular in nature.
The next phase of occupation is from the phase of the Final Neolithic (3500-2200 BC), with the facilities intended to structure and define space. Here, an alignment of large oblong pits, oriented east-west, are found relating to this chronological space. Numerous fragments of ceramic, grinding wheels, scorched raw earth have been found, showing construction and habitation during this phase.
In this area, there is also a large, irregularly planned polylobed pit is explored, between 10 feet (3 meters) and 23 feet (7 meters) wide, and over 46 feet (14 meters) in length. Here, there are numerous surrounds succeeding one another. Initially, the scientists pondered whether it could be a storage unit, but that function was ruled out. The new hypothesis is an extraction of materials, perhaps in search of the water table to extract water for cattle.
Moving forward, historians hope to uncover more burial practices of this time period in Western Europe, which will help glean how ancient societies treated their dead.
Why you need a popup on your website during holidays.
As the holiday season approaches, anticipation grows in the digital marketplace. In 2022, online spending between November and December reached a staggering $211.7 billion, marking a 3.5% rise from the previous year. Amid the promotional frenzy, pop-ups play a pivotal role in capturing attention and driving conversions. These tools, although often overlooked, provide brands a unique opportunity to stand out by presenting curated messages or deals precisely when a consumer is most engaged.
To maximize their impact, pop-ups must align with your brand's holiday strategy. A well-executed popup can amplify your sales message, while one that's off-brand can deter potential customers. Key strategies include pre-event teasers to build excitement, early access offers to reward loyalty, direct sale alerts, and last-chance deals that capitalize on purchase urgency.
To ensure efficacy, pop-up designs should be clear and concise. Highlight offers like "up to 50% off" prominently, but balance visual appeal. Timing is crucial; present your best deals as visitors land on your site. Avoid pitfalls like overlapping offers and vague calls to action. Lastly, consider adding gamification for an engaging experience, as seen in successful spin-the-wheel popups.
Do your research, the festive season offers brands a golden opportunity. With meticulous design and strategic timing, pop-ups can significantly elevate your holiday marketing, ensuring a successful sales season.
Thirty Poems I *tried* To Pour My Soul Into
An exercise with @sweetwarmcookies
—————————————————————-
Prompt list: Blurting, Secrets, Time, Beauty, Nature,
Ocean, Tears, Hope, Open, Reaching,
Direction, Faith, Watching, Happiness, Fire,
Cooking, Childhood, Water, Moon, Flowers,
Sun, Voices, Mind, Adulthood, Anger, Stars,
Headaches, Day, Home, Love.
———————————————-
Blurting
Hold a tongue still,
A hard to swallow pill,
When muscles twitch
And an involuntary switch
Moves up and down a jaw
To make sure a line comes out raw.
And that’s the issue when words come before thought,
When they jump out early before they’re all aligned,
When I should have let the cat have my tongue caught
When I should have kept myself in my mind.
Secrets
Whisper soft, low
In corners with little glow.
Hushed-ly tell what you need
I’ll never speak of the deed.
Under lock and key
If you need from me
A place to keep
Things hidden deep.
Loose lips sink ships
And my memory “skips”
Because I have nothing to say
I don’t give secrets away.
Time
Tumultuous, it feels as besT
Inside a flow filled by ennuI
Make the most of it, even as it seems griM?
Even as it builds all walls around me the samE.
Beauty
I don’t know how to tell you
I don’t know how to make you believe
That I don’t know any that can compare to
A beauty they did not know before you joined the eve.
Perhaps makeup isn’t perfect, the corner got a little smudged
But you still stop a heart, and that should tell you how you’re judged.
Nature
Refill my soul as I sit amongst the trees.
Recharge my spirit as I drink in the breeze.
Reenergize a heart as I feel the beat of river’s surface
Re-instill strength, sunlight, for when I get nervous.
Mother me back, when I fade, back to my former glory.
Mother Nature, bring me back, so I can write a little more of your story.
Ocean
Powerful sea
Mighty she
But settling to hear
And sweet scent once near
Sitting on shoreline
What is more fine?
Than sharing a meal
With an ocean third wheel.
Comforting she
The mighty, powerful sea.
Tears
Rains fall from heaven when it becomes too much
When the stars look down at the earth they can’t touch
And see the horrors, the weight, the trials of life
And that no one is there to stop a rope, bullet, or knife.
And if even the skies cry, clouds mourn,
We must wait days before the mood clears,
It must be only natural when our hearts are torn
To take a week and let be bled at least a few tears.
Hope
Nothing left to cope
But still don’t give me a rope
Please, just give me hope
Open
Too often I try to reach into a box
When I want to write and need building blocks.
But the lid is stuck fast, so my pen is too
And of all things, this is the last, not writing, that I’d want to do.
Reaching
It’s not failure if it’s never started, right?
I mean, it’s not a building if no one’s started on site.
So I haven’t failed, nothing was ever undertaken,
So I’m not a failure, just un-begun, unless I am mistaken.
Even so, I should have listened to what my mother was preaching
Because there are heights I can’t see, but I should be reaching.
Direction
I just need a sense.
Where. Which way? When?
I just need a sense.
Here to there and then…?
I just need a sense
Of how to even begin.
I just need a sense
Of what direction to move in.
Faith
Just a glowing ember is enough
For times when life is too tough
When the fighting is too rough
When you’re being weighed down by too much stuff.
Just a glowing ember is enough to stay, be a little stronger.
Just glowing ember of faith is enough to make it a little longer.
Watching
It’s not meant to be awkward
And I’m sorry it’s weird
I just pay attention to things..
And I count a hat, two mustaches, a beard.
I just can’t help but notice
All these little things.
I can’t help but notice
Naked fingers, others: rings.
Even as I daydream
I have to pay attention
Even in a passing breeze
I still hear what others mention.
It’s not meant to be awkward
I’m sorry when it is.
I can’t help but watching and noticing.
I mean, what if there’s a quiz?
Happiness
Rise from slumber, set the kettle
Ready the leaves for boiling poured from metal.
Sit in silence, watch beauty take shape
And the sky quietly gives orange, cherry, grape.
The birds sing sweetly, bidding good morning to me.
The only thing missing is you; then I can have happiness fully be.
Fire
There was once a roaring
It happened deep within.
There once was roaring
When my life did begin.
Something that wants to live
Something that wants to breathe.
Something with light to give
And heat for those in need.
There was once a roaring
And I never thought it’d tame.
But life has quieted my roaring
Fire reduced to barely even a flame.
Cooking
Art. With a pan.
Art to fill a hungry man.
Making colorful, but with taste
Creating music, but with paste.
And even as I stir the pot,
I can feel patient; I am not.
Take a test, dipping spoon
Making sure things are right when it’s done soon.
If I can’t write, you can find me over a stove.
My other favorite art involves saffron, cumin, clove.
Childhood
It was free for a moment.
Kind of.
My friends at least told me it was.
Sort of.
They’d complain about bedtimes, being forced to read.
I’d be quiet about my night times, being forced to fulfill my own need.
They’d be upset that parents are overbearing, “the chores they make me do”.
I was more upset about the fighting and the swearing before it turned on me too.
They were mad that mom was embarrassing, giving the kisses.
I was sad that I asked for a hug, and my mom’s swing never misses.
It was free for a moment.
So I’ve been told.
But I didn’t have to grow up before I realized.
Damn, this world is cold.
Water
Just a drop, something fresh.
Because I have been a stagnant mess.
Trickle some into my glass
Don’t walk by, don’t just pass.
I’ve been thirsty so long, looking at clear sky.
My lips are cracking, even my bones are dry.
It needn’t be a lot, but please give it thought.
I’m stuck out in this desert alone, and good god it’s hot.
Moon
Seductress and stealer of sleep.
Tell me I’m wrong and that you don’t keep
Me awake because you miss me and we only have a few hours
Before the sun returns and our time together sours.
I see your gown, all dressed in white
Teasing me to gaze on you and write write write.
But perhaps later, or tomorrow, for sure sometime soon.
For now, goodnight my love, my brilliant glowing moon.
Flowers
How many things can I say
Before I run out of words for the day?
And when I find my throat dry, my tongue tired
How shall I tell you, it’s you I’ve admired.
I’ll make the arrangement myself, though I’m not classically trained
I can see beauty where it is, it’s an understanding deeply ingrained.
So five of the yellow ones, three orange, one red
No, Im sorry. I don’t know the names off the top of my head.
But also, some of that kind of flower chain stuff?
After the accent of pink, yes it’s finally enough.
I know I talk too much, I go on for hours upon hours.
And when my voice runs out, I’ll still say something, even just with flowers.
Sun
Source of light, of warm, making possible life
Under your rule, plants thrive and we are blessed
Nevertheless, merciless heat, rays that beat, demands I find a frozen treat.
Voices
Silence!
Please.
Quiet!
I need.
Just a moment of you not incessantly speaking.
Please, mind, just let me float.
Let my peace hold me as a boat
As I pour our feelings as an empty
River. When weakness does tempt me
Silence. Please.
I beg from knees.
Be more of the trees
A softened rustling in leaves.
Mind
Where. When?
Traveling every time and where again
I’ll never know or understand
When my inner eye sees a different land.
And though I say it isn’t something I need to know
The third eye sees all these things through a window.
I can’t shut off and close the eyes in my mind
I can’t help but see all the things I find.
Adulthood
You’re here now, little fish.
And I’m proud of you for making it.
You almost gave up, became chum, a dish.
But I’m proud you got here, even if you were just faking it.
Anger
A subject in which most are sore.
No one is excepted for
Garish displays of disdain and hate
Every being will be called to account
Regarding boiling blood and anger’s weight.
Stars
Shine for me, love
Silver light above
Giving me hope, letting me dream,
On the perfect gaze of star beam.
Let me sit here in your perfect sight
On my sleepless, still, lonely night.
Headaches
“Do you carry blanton’s here?”
“Do you have this French beer?”
“Do you have this Italian wine?”
“Which is the best for the meal with which I’ll dine?”
Guys..give me a minute, I’m busy stocking
And I don’t know about what you are talking.
Customers will never be happy, I don’t know what it takes.
But more often than not, they are the start of my headaches.
Day
I waited, you know
For you to show.
I thought about you
When sky went from black to blue.
I wondered “will I hear from her?”
When I opened eyes and began to stir.
So think of the joy that came into play
When I saw you message me to start my day.
Home
It doesn’t exist anymore.
Home.
It’s been burned down, left in ruins.
The place that would have been my bed
Is stained from soot.
The family room in which I read
Is charred to the root.
Even the mold that lay in the basement is gone.
The heat from what you set has caused all things flee.
The bees that were in the wall no longer have a space.
It doesn’t exist anymore.
That place you said was home.
Maybe if you weren’t such a lying whore
I wouldn’t be out here, I wouldn’t freely roam.
Love
Too many words, so many ways to define.
And so many ways in which I display mine.
“Love, be not afraid, I’m here for you”
To the end, for those who need one true.
“Love, only you are my everything, my all”
When I jump off the cliff and embrace romance’s fall.
“Love, you’re alright, it’ll heal”
To a small child whose scabs peel.
Love, I love you. I hope you can feel.
In all the ways. Love I love you.
That much is real.
Note
Hi there- I’m someone who wants to be pro-ship, but I’m kind of struggling about it. I SINCERELY believe that thought crimes are NOT a thing. But I also believe that a person interacting with certain ideas a lot, like very intense things so much it’s casual, can become numb and insensitive to it (as an example not related to pro-ship topics, I think it’s uncool when people joke about suicide a lot to the point where it feels like they don’t take it seriously despite it being a serious thing)
Can you offer any thoughts on the predicament? Were you ever kind of at war with yourself about it?
Like, as a broader picture, how can a person align themselves with any particular idea any more when so many people are chomping at the bit to misinterpret or pull out the worst possible thing attached to that idea?
I’m not necessarily asking you to answer all that, just the initial two if you have time and are willing. I wanted to get these thoughts out there to someone who wouldn’t harshly judge and your blog seems like a safe place to do do
Hey Anon! I'm honestly really glad that you felt safe enough here to ask questions like this.
(This got awfully long, so the rest will be under the cut!)
I totally understand where you're coming from, and to a point, I agree. Thought crimes are absolutely not a thing, and no one should be punished for thoughts that they don't act on. The idea that thinking something is the same as doing that thing can be very, very dangerous. I also completely understand your concerns about desensitization to some absolutely horrific stuff. I think it's important to be able to take a few steps back and really get a good look at the bigger picture every now and again. That might mean having to stop and sit with yourself in order to kinda... recalibrate. That's probably not the right word, but oh well. Sometimes it's necessary to give your head a good etch-a-sketch shake and remind yourself that fiction is fiction and reality is reality. I hope I didn't get too far off track, there.
[I, personally, sometimes get so involved in a hyperfixation that it tends to bleed into other aspects of my life. That's usually when I know I need to give the gerbils on hamster wheels my brain a bit of a shake and step back for a minute. Does that make sense?]
I can't say I've ever necessarily been at war with myself over this stuff, to be honest. When I was a preteen/teenager and first really started using sites like deviantArt, Quizilla, FF.net, and roleplay forums, it was never a question in my mind whether or not the (admittedly problematic) stuff I wrote or liked reading about would have been bad in real life. I knew it was. But I was also very aware that what I was reading and writing was fiction. It was pretend. No real people were being hurt. Even when I was all of 11 years old, I knew that the art I was seeing of fictional characters was, well, fictional. Running into KakaSaku art at 12 never made me think it was totally a-okay to date a 26 year old at that age.
I grew up in the era of "ship and let ship", "don't like, don't read", and having full conversations with fictional characters in the author's notes of fanfics. I've always been proship, even long before it ever had a name. That was just... normal back then.
That's kinda why I'm not against using the proship label, even with its awful reputation. I know myself, I know my values and beliefs better than anyone else does (despite what some antiship folks like to think), and at the end of the day, I know I'm a good person. I don't send hate, I don't start petty arguments or drama, I do my best to respect boundaries, and I try to mind my business. If people want to spread misinformation and make up lies about what being proship is about, fine. I know my truth, and the truths of many others. If people have questions, I'm happy to answer. ♡
I, uh... didn't mean to get so ramble-y there. QuQ I really hope I answered everything in a satisfactory manner. Like I said above, if you have any other questions, I'll do my best to answer! ♡
Did you know about the Bighorn Medicine Wheel in Wyoming which is an archaeological mystery. These are stones arranged on ground looking like a giant wheel with spokes. None of the local tribes have claimed its creation, so nobody knows who created this and why.
Tumblr media
Some astronomers have hypothesized that these were used by our ancestors to track star movements by aligning the central cairn with other cairns on the perimeter. To the local tribes, this is a sacred site associated with spiritual healing, thus the name “medicine”
Keeping Your Business Rolling: The Importance of Wheel Washing
In the realm of heavy machinery and construction, every component plays a crucial role in ensuring smooth operations. One often-overlooked yet integral part is wheel washing. This simple yet effective process is not just about aesthetics; it's about maintaining functionality, safety, and environmental responsibility. wheel washer
Preserving Performance
Imagine a construction site bustling with activity, heavy-duty vehicles moving in and out. Each wheel carries dirt, mud, and debris accumulated from various terrains. Without proper cleaning, these contaminants can clog machinery, leading to reduced efficiency and potential breakdowns. Wheel washing eliminates this risk, preserving the performance and longevity of your valuable assets.
Enhancing Safety
Clean wheels mean better traction and control. In industries where precision and safety are paramount, such as mining or road construction, maintaining clean wheels can prevent accidents caused by slipping or sliding due to muddy or debris-laden tires. It's a proactive measure that significantly enhances on-site safety for both workers and equipment. wheel washing
Environmental Responsibility
Beyond operational benefits, wheel washing aligns with environmental sustainability. Construction activities often generate sediment-rich runoff, posing a threat to local water bodies. By implementing wheel washing systems, you contain pollutants at the source, reducing the ecological footprint of your operations and demonstrating a commitment to environmental stewardship.
Regulatory Compliance
Many regions have stringent regulations regarding site cleanliness and environmental impact. Incorporating wheel washing into your site management not only ensures compliance but also showcases your company's dedication to meeting and exceeding industry standards. It's a proactive approach that fosters trust with regulators and the community.
Optimizing Efficiency
Efficiency is the cornerstone of successful projects. With regular wheel washing, you minimize downtime caused by equipment malfunctions or safety incidents. This streamlined approach keeps your operations running smoothly, maximizing productivity and profitability in the long run. wheelwash
Conclusion
In the fast-paced world of construction and heavy machinery, overlooking small details like wheel washing can have significant repercussions. By embracing this practice, you not only preserve the functionality and safety of your equipment but also demonstrate a commitment to environmental sustainability and regulatory compliance. It's a simple yet impactful step towards keeping your business rolling smoothly towards success.
